Not only is the seafood top-notch and friendly staff, but their pasta is excellent. I'll begin by saying that my meal at Mine Oyster was extremely disappointing. I had to send it back. Why 4 stars? Despite the crappy meal, my server went above and beyond to make things right. I ordered the rotisserie chicken with tasso mac & cheese and a grilled tomato. Probably my mistake for getting chicken instead of seafood this close to the ocean. For an opener, I had a cup of the oyster stew. It was delicious. The oysters were fresh and tasted of the ocean. The stew was perfectly creamy. The bacon and spinach were a wonderful and thoughtful addition to the stew. The best word to describe the chicken was weird. I have roasted more than a few chickens in my life, and this one was like nothing that I have experienced. The menu says the chicken is rubbed with BBQ spices. I didn't perceive any spice rub on the chicken. The meat was a little overcooked, and lacked any kind of flavor. The skin can best be described as resembling one of those gag rubber chickens. Not appetizing at all. The mac & cheese wasn't much better. It was a greasy mess. It's not necessary to make a bechamel for creamy mac & cheese, but Mine Oyster clearly hasn't figured out how to do it. Even the tomato cooked over the wood-fired grill had an odd taste. I was extremely disappointed with the meal and barely touched it. Seeing this, the server (who was fantastic), offered to take the meal back and allow me to have something else. My second try was the entree-sized Caesar salad with shrimp. The salad was a big improvement. It was dressed just right. They make the croutons in house, and they tasted as such. The shrimp were tender and cooked well. And a nice addition to the salad was anchovies (not just mixed into the sauce). The addition of the whole fish added a bit of extra tang and texture to the plate. I appreciate that the server again did her best to improve my experience. I will definitely visit Mine Oyster again, but will probably stick to the seafood. read more

This is a newer place, right on the water and with an obviously massive oyster menu. We popped in and sat on the outdoor deck for an afternoon oyster snack and a couple of beers. Great Glidden Points and very peaceful sitting on the water. It's a huge space so I hope they are able to fill it up during prime time. It was 8:59 and this town closes early. We saw 1am so we thought phew as we accidentally came to this town (which is a nice town for a day trip). We were told kitchen closed but the cook didn't want us to go hungry. Thank you! We ordered a hot and cold lobster roll. They are not going to be the best you have had but still good. I also had coleslaw that came with it and was happy to finally get veggies in me after a few days. Food is 3 and service is about a 5. The guy who took our order I think was the bartender that was ending his shift but made sure to help us before calling it a night. MINE OYSTER and MCSEAGULLS are owned by the same ownership group --- I was not impressed with McSeagulls but MINE OYSTER IS THE REAL DEAL! The atmosphere is so perfect for the harbor views provided - the service is of a mixed staff and they each seemed trained/professional/attentive. The upstairs bar scene is where I chose to spend some time other than the rooftop at The Bistro. THE LIVE MUSIC was talent that I enjoyed and appreciated. FOOD, GLORIOUS FOOD, OH THE FOOD! Portion size is well above average that I find in major cities and the presentation as well could challenge the pickiest of foodies with its glory. Menu descriptions do not do justice for the served delights -- salads for a late lunch each day were spot on. TRAVEL WITH THE OYSTER SELECTIONS and ask for some verbal explanation if you want. We checked in for a drink and a snack after the Botanical Gardens. Glad we did. The Bloody Mary was spot on, a good size, nice mix, the right strength, good olives.... If the lobster roll wasn't quite at the level of your favorite shack, it was a solid effort for a bar. Fresh tasting, lots of firm meat, perfectly toasted bun. Came here last year for the first time with my boyfriend and had the BEST FRIES TO EVER EXIST. No joke, we told everyone about the fries and craved them all year. We came back today, and the fries are NOT the same. They're decent, but there's nothing special about them. They were so good last year we asked how they were made. The nightlife in BBH is limited...after all, it's a harbor town vacation spot... There's a small cluster of bars an restaurants down near the piers.... On a typical summer Saturday night, all of them are filled with very friendly people enjoying their suds and picking at seafood (my kind of fun). We heard an awesome band at the Oyster...The Pete Kilpatrick Band...it turns out they have quite a following in Maine. We had good times dancing and meeting new friends. read more

Located right on the harbor you cant miss this place. The view is great. This is one if not the only place in Boothbay which closes later than 9pm. On this particular Friday night the kitchen closed at 9:3-pm-10pm and the place itself closed at 1am. They had a band playing so the bar remained open. While waiting for our friends to arrive we ordered a fish chowder soup(they didn't have clam at this time), some oysters Rockefeller and blueberry shrimp. While I love raw oysters, the BF doesn't. The fish chowder was good...I regretted not ordering a bowl :-( ; the blueberry shrimp was good too sweet for my liking and the oysters were very good. They're big so you definitely get yours worth. The waitress was super sweet and helpful she placed our friend's order on time before the kitchen closed. We also ordered I think it was called a Wood-Grilled Seafood platter of swordfish, shrimp and parmesan oysters. This came with a side of veggies that resembled ratatouille and mash potatoes. The fish was delicious and juicy, the shrimp were blacked and flavorful(should've just got this) and oysters were great. Our friends each had a steam whole lobster with corn and rice. As far as food-- ther steamers are meh and the grilled scallops subpar, but the cup of clam chowder is delicious and you can't beat the oysters! My family and I were looking for some seafood on our last night in town (not hard to come by anywhere in Maine), but we wanted to try something that we hadn't already been to. I checked some reviews on Yelp and decided on Mine Oyster. The food - clam chowder was great, simple platter of fried oysters for an appetizer was good but not great, surf and turf burger was amazing, fried scallops were excellent, and haddock sandwich was good. The fries are great here! Portions are very generous, even the sides. Heaping scoops of coleslaw, etc. Drinks - excellent selection of wine/beer and the waitress knew all the beers on tap right off the top of her head Service - service was very quick, and friendly. However a diet Pepsi came to the table and it was super light in color and had absolutely no taste (maybe the last of the cask of Pepsi?) it was quite obviously messed up and shouldn't have even come to the table, but they replaced it without a problem. Overall: the food was good and just what we were looking for, the deck was a nice place to relax and eat and enjoy the views of the harbor on our last night, service was pretty good and the waitress was super friendly even came down after dinner and chatted with us for a while, but I wouldn't say this is anything special when compared to other places in Boothbay. read more

I would give this a 3.5 star, but I rounded up because I loved the seafood. Seafood: Delicious, fresh, some of the best I've had!! The cherrystones, oysters, and grilled lobster were amazing. Go here solely for the seafood, and you'll have a great experience. Other food: Just okay. I wouldn't recommend straying too far from the seafood, but the salads are fine, as well. The food was delicious! Our group indulged in a ton of local oysters and I also got the Oyster stew as the main course of my lunch. It was delicious and hearty. I'd never had oyster stew cooked with spinach in it, but now wish that ALL oyster stews had it as a normal component! The ambiance of the restaurant is wonderful, right on the bay with wonderful views overlooking the water. We walked into the restaurant at peak lunchtime and the staff was very accommodating in cleaning an outside table for us. The only slight downfall during our meal was our absentminded server. He was unfamiliar with the menu so asking him questions deemed pretty useless. It took him 20 minutes to bring out creamer/sugar for my coffee which was cold and half empty by the time he got them out. He also mixed up the oyster order (which was later redeemed by being removed from our bill.) Although SUPER pleasant, the server's unfamiliarity with the menu and minimal short-term memory was mildly irritating. Overall, Mine Oyster's oyster selection is beyond impressive as well as the other tasty morsils offered on their extensive seafood menu. We visited with another couple and had a terrific meal. We were greeted at the door by a cheerful receptionist who quickly seated us outdoors overlooking the harbor. Our waitress was at our table quickly and was welcoming and efficient. She was knowledgeable of the local oysters and gave us good advice that helped us make our decision of which to order. The oysters were excellent. We ordered fried belly clams, a lobster roll, fried haddock and grilled scallops for our dinner. All were excellent except for the clams which were a bit over done thus not a perfect score. We had a good meal at a fair price and will certainly return again next time we are in Boothbay. read more

We landed here after much debate about where to eat our last night in Boothbay. We were seated, got our drinks, placed our order, and we waited. And waited. Now, we've had good food experiences before, but I have to say I was disappointed not only with the wait, but also with the prosciutto-wrapped haddock I got. The other components on the dish: the fire-roasted creamed corn, the ratatouille, and the roasted potatoes were all fine, tasty even, but my haddock was so dried out it had the consistency of sawdust. While visiting Southport and Boothbay, we visited Mine Oyster twice. My husband and I stopped for lunch one day after taking a boat tour. We sat outside. Service and food were excellent. My husband had the hot lobster roll and I had popcorn shrimp. Fries were very good. The shrimp were not greasy at all. Our food came out hot and pretty fast. We decided to take my parents out to dinner later in the week and since they wanted a casual dinner, we decided to take them to Mine Oyster since we had such good meals the first time. They have a wood fire grill (or something like that) where they cook meat, seafood, and pizzas and we wanted to try that. Our second trip was just as pleasant. My dad ordered oysters and said they were delicious. Our waitress was very sweet (I really wish I could remember her name!). We all enjoyed our meals and my parents enjoyed reading all the quotes on the walls. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, just what we wanted. Good food, good atmosphere, and a good time. Ate here last night for dinner on the upper rear deck. The deck was dark and made it hard to order. Friends got the dozen assorted oysters plate. They enjoyed them and were fresh. I ordered the fried clam plate the clams were delicious and a nice breading. the order was abit on the small side for the price. My wife ordered the fired maine shrimp, again they were tasty with a good breading but the portion were a bit on the small size in my opinion. Do not eat here - be warned! I appreciate that we were visiting off season but my $25 hot lobster roll had at most a 1/4 cup of lobster in and nothing else. My husbands chowder had a thick skin on top by the time it arrived.
