Classic dimsum experience in Quincy, I wouldn't have it any other way honestly. We came on a Saturday during the busy brunch period and didn't have to wait too long given the huge space which was nice. It was busy and bustling as we got seated! Menu had all of your typical dimsum dishes and we even got a plate of veggies to share as well. You mark a menu and they come by with the food a la carte so it comes out relatively fresh. We shared several dishes amongst the six of us and it was all super delicious - typical dimsum meal overall. This review is for my experience last Saturday for a wedding. Shout out to all the staff. From the waitress to the waiters, the bartenders, The ladies who were serving beers and shots for everyone. One of my go to spots in the area for dim sum. The restaurant is super spacious so there usually isn't too long of a wait even when they're busy. My favorite dish is the red rice rolls! I've been a regular here since they first opened in Quincy, and they're the reason I officially stopped going to the other spot down the street. It's so much more spacious, the staff is way friendlier, and the food is just as good--if not better. The dim sum staples are an absolute must: the shrimp and celery bean curd roll, rice rolls, shu mai, and harkow are all perfection. And you can't leave without the BBQ pork buns or those decadent lava buns and egg tarts. If you're with a bigger group, their family-style shareables like the house fried rice and stir-fried Chinese broccoli are top-tier pairings. There's plenty of parking (though it definitely fills up during peak hours!), and the vibe is super family-friendly. Hit the Ranch 99 supermarket next door for our bi-monthly "fresh fish fried in the store" fix, then decided what the hell, let's try this place right next door in the same strip mall. It was about 2 hours before closing time on a Sunday night, and only 3 or 4 tables in the huge dining room were occupied, which spooked me a little. Turned out we had nothing to fear---the food was excellent, really on par if not better than anything from Chinatown where we usually hit the New Golden Gate restaurant when hankering for some Cantonese food. Best of all, none of the parking headaches of Chinatown! Only downside to this place is the table service---food was brought out fairly fast after ordering, but servers had to be flagged down to get their attention throughout, otherwise they were off socializing with each other on the other side of the space most of the time. We normally don't expect super duper service at Asian restaurants but this was a bit worse than usual. Very elegant and attractive space inside might make you fear for inflated pricing, but the prices were actually pretty reasonable given the quality and quantity of food you get. Came here on a Tuesday early lunch time and we were the only non chinese people in the restaurant so we already knew it was going to be good. The place wasn't too filled but there was a lot of families & couples there enjoying on the weekday. The menu was vast & as you can see we over ordered for our party of 5. The food was fresh, well balanced flavors, & served quickly. The service was what really made this 5 stars, our server was friendly and loved making jokes with my dad. He let my dad go see the fish tanks in the back to point out what he wanted. The staff tried to teach him to use chopsticks since everyone's english levels were different to try and communicate. My dad ended up using his hands lol. Came here twice recently for two different dinner banquets and the seafood was exceptional. And while there were a lot of highlights, there were also some lackluster dishes, so this gets a high 4/5. One thing I did appreciate that I haven't seen at other banquets was that as we ate the food, the staff would sometimes come by and transfer the food to smaller plates to keep the table a little bit neater rather than trying to stack everything on top of each other. Some of the food highlights: Cold platters: Both of these were pretty good, though I didn't care for the fatty pork slices in each. The pork belly was really crispy which was nice, but because it was cold the fat was a little chalky. The beef, slices were great and well flavored, the shrimp was astounding with a sweet glaze on it, the cuttlefish was the perfect amount of soft and chewy, and the pickled veggies/jellyfish had a great acidic and sesame balance. I preferred this dish at the 2nd banquet, but both were great. Shrimp and Scallop: This is my favorite of all of the dishes. The seafood was really fresh and sweet, but the sauce was to die for. It had a great balance of ginger and scallion, and the seafood juices + sauce was absorbed into the snap peas that the veggies tasted like lobster. I've never had this flavor sensation before with veggies - 10/10 would order every time. Abalone and mushrooms: This wasn't bad but it was canned abalone. The mushrooms were probably the star here. Sea cucumber soup: This didn't have a ton of taste unfortunately. Lobster: Very typical - nothing too special but nothing terrible here. The shells were cracked well to avoid too much manual labor. Fried chicken and boiled chicken: Both of these were pretty tough and chewy, but the fried chicken was a bit better. Still, it was a little dry. Steak: Both of these were great and even though one of them was a little well done, it still somehow was very soft and tender. Fish: The steamed fish was great, but the fried fish lacked...everything really. It didn't really have much meat on it at all - it felt like the fish had been saved for another dish and the dish we were served was crispy bones and skin. The steamed fish was nice and flavorful though, and all of the meat seemed to be on the fish. Fried rice: Tasted very strongly of dried scallop if you like that - I didn't particularly enjoy it though. Long life noodles: There were no mushrooms in here so it lacked that shitake flavor, but still a solid plain noodle dish. Scallion pancakes: VERY crispy and delicious, but hardly any scallions. Still, a very very good version of this dish due to how crunchy it was! All in all, there were some highs and lows, but most of the seafood itself was great. I could definitely see choosing all of the highs leading to a 5/5 meal though! I'd love to come back for dim sum as well! read more

More like 3.5. Our usual is China Pearl as we enjoy the rolling carts but they're closed for renovations so we made our way to Ming. Apparently everyone and their mother had the same idea - the place was jam packed and we were told it'd be a 25 mins wait. We were seated right about the 25 mins mark! The place is a bit outdated with the decor but we're here for the food... We sat, ordered and ate! Some things we enjoyed, some things we wouldn't order again. My faves were the wings and chicken feet. My sister enjoyed the shrimp rolls and shrimp/chive dumplings. Soup dumplings and shui mai were a bit disappointing. The service was as good as it could've been for as busy as it was but the food came out hot and fast and came in waves of how the food was prepared - steamed items first, then fried, etc....I can imagine that they must make a lot of this in bulk to promptly serve the masses. Space itself is clean besides the bathrooms. Their menu is quite extensive and they offer every imaginable Cantonese dinner dish you can think of. The portions are fairly large compared to some places found in Chinatown. Overall, I recommended the sweet and sour pork chop, fish filet in sweet corn sauce, crispy chicken, scallop fried rice and seafood yee mein. Came here for their dimsum on a Sunday and it looks like they are super popular because it took us 1.5 hours to get a table! After getting seated however, the food came fast right after we ordered it and it was all soooo good! I especially enjoyed the marinated tripe, chicken feet, and all the buns we tried. They have a great dimsum selection and are very prompt with delivering food, which made our experience here pretty good. Since they are always full, it can be hard to get ahold of someone for help, but they are always circling around so they'll see you at some point. Overall: I was recommended this place as one of the better dim sum places if not the best in Boston. I leave with a lackluster experience in food quality from a very fancy (by Chinese dim sum standards) establishment. Food: Har Gow rice wrapper was very grainy typical of pre frozen. The rice rolls with Chinese donut did not even have the right sauce to go with them. The radish/turnip cakes had no texture. The bok choy had a bit of a bitter taste to them. I wasn't feeling well so my husband got me takeout dim sum when we were in the area. Beef chow fun was packed with flavor and great pieces of beef. Spare ribs were fall off the bone goodness. Tripe in black bean sauce was super tender and one of my absolute favorites, along with braised chicken feet in black bean sauce. Pea shoots were soooooooo good and complimented all the other dishes I had. I had their garlic fried chicken wings in house before and that's the only way to have them. They do not travel well in the styrofoam tray as it steams, overcooks and gets super rubbery. I won't get those to go anymore but Ming's remains one of my favorite dim sum restaurants in the Boston area. read more

I thought Ming's was a solid dimsum place. The food portions are huge for dimsum and quality was good. The lava pineapple buns are delicious - eat them while hot! They will bring over scissors to cut up everything for you if you ask them. We had a birthday celebration and they were so accomodating, bringing out a cake that we brought and playing a birthday song on these portable speakers. It was pretty funny. They had a huge variety of dimsum too. Get the turnip cakes, steamed rice rolls, chasiu baos. Of note, you order off a menu, not off carts, but they do bring out your food on carts. There are really cute desserts and animal-themed food for kids too! Very fun. Ming's is felt to be pretty legit by the Chinese community - they will host Chinese style banquets for events too; I've been to one banquet here and it was amazing! The website is essentially in Chinese but the menu in the restaurant does have an English translation and pictures. My daughter's boyfriend was the only non Asian there when we went for dim sum for lunch if that's important to you. They did speak passable English. They don't have carts going around the too, you check off what you want on a paper menu. The portions are very large, especially the larger dishes which are served after 11:00. I like the har kau (shrimp dumplings), the siu mai and the xiao long bao (soup dumplings). Only have large tables but our party of 3 did not have to share with other people. Fairly priced. The food here is quite good. I love going here or Windsor for dim sum in Quincy. It's a large restaurant with plenty of seating so there usually is no wait or a short wait. It's located next to Ranch 99 and conveniently has a large parking lot. For larger dishes (available after 11am), my go to are the dry beef chow fun salt & pepper chicken wings, calamari tentacles, and clams. They're a big portion and delicious. The leftover salt and pepper seasoning is good on rice or noodles. The scallop & peapod stems with beet dumplings and crispy shrimp red rice rolls were bad and I wouldn't order them again. They have lots of food that "for the gram" that I liked including the shrimp dumplings with truffle cuttlefish, salty egg york lava bun with charcoal powder, pig shaped steamed salty egg york lava buns, minion custard bun, duck shaped mango pudding, and rabbit coconut pudding. The chicken congee is awesome, made just like home. The menu says it feeds 4-6 people and it comes in a huge pot with a generous portion of chicken. For 10 hungry people who ordered way too much, I was pleasantly surprised when our bill was only slightly over $300 so you can't beat the price here. We all left really full and satisfied. The service was good for a Chinese restaurant, we did have to flag someone down occasionally, but the waiter was attentive with our water and tea. However, I found the prices were very high, the service was just OK. Nothing bad about it, but just OK. And, despite order several items and dishes of foods, no one was full, satisfied, or satiated, and the bill was painful. It was tasty, but the price was not exactly right for what we got. The table was also not very clean when we got there, and I had to wipe it myself. And, the waiter ignored us for over 20 min. There was: Walnut shrimp Pan fried fish and vegetables Lobster and noodles A lamb dish Stir fried pea shoots Fermented tofu A tapioca pudding dessert Everything came out in quick succession and was placed on the huge lazy susan in the middle of the table. Bit of a hike but worth it! I came here this past weekend with a few friends. We arrived around 12:45 and were quoted about a 25 min wait (Sunday). The place was insanely busy! We were seated within 20 min which was great. Now to the food! We ordered the following items. Shumai - Yummy, exactly as expected! Shrimp hargow - Also as expected Chicken feet - Excellent, loved the sauce Minion custard buns - Not as advertised, the minions didn't have eyeballs! Also the custard to bun ratio was off. Would have preferred more custard. Wouldn't get this again. Clams with black bean sauce - Loved this! No prices listed so I think it was much pricer than we thought.
