How can this restaurant remain in business? It offers indifferently prepared food and some of the most unfriendly food servers in the region. I can only assume that the people who have left positive reviews of this restaurant are either the Restaurant's Management...or they have never actually eaten in a real Chinese restaurant. The style of food served here is the "1950s Chinese American" food. Most everything is heavily breaded and deep fried, and then covered with a thick gummy "gravy" before being served. Do not expect anything fresh. Do not expect anything even remotely authentic. And do not expect anyone connected with the Restaurant to actually smile.... they act like North Korean Border Guards here. This neighborhood is also "dicey" at night. There are not many places where you can have an entire lunch for under $6.00! The chicken subgum chowmein was loaded with fresh veggies and chicken and the eggfooyong may be the best in Spokane. I also enjoyed the unlimited hot tea that comes with the meal. read more

I'm so sorry that you've never had REALLY good Chinese food and I'd love to have a word with the person my husband works with who recommended this place! We had #5 dinner and some egg rolls. They were...weird, and that's being polite. It was twice fried, the second time it had been dipped in batter and by that time it was overcooked mush inside. Pea pod beef, almond chicken and fried rice had minimum seasoning (like only salt) so they were fairly tasteless. It's such a shame because they looked great. Sesame chicken (like a popcorn chicken) and fried shrimp were served dry. Desperately needed some sort of sweet and sour or plum dipping sauce. We ate a little bit and took the rest of our $40 dollar dinner home where I added garlic, ginger, sesame oil, etc... and turned it into some halfway decent food. Since moving to Spokane from the coast it's been hard to find good food! But I was told by a friend that this place is excellent, so I gave it a shot and bought general chicken, beef n broccoli, and chow main. All of it was amazing, general could have been crispier but I think it probably was when I got it but since it was to-go and I live 20 minutes away it was a little soft but not super soft by the time I got home. There is a saying "Don't judge a book by its cover " this saying holds true for the Ming Wah. It is situated next to a gas station and nothing. The restaurant is clean and vibrant with color. If, by chance you could not afford tickets for the Chinese Lantern Festival, make a stop at the Ming Wah. This family operated restaurant is small, but cozy. Spokane hidden gem. Food is wonderful, everyone there is really nice. I've always have had a really good experience there. They no longer have free refills. That's the only down fall. Ok first off yelp needs to give us a half star option. I would have given this 4 and a half stars. My only complaint was no refills on drinks. Usually when my boyfriend asks me what I am in the mood to eat I say "anything but chinese food," but no more. He warned me "not to expect much," but as far as I can tell he just meant the ghetto-looking outside. It was a little odd to be eating in a restaurant right by a gas station. But, any bad impression that may have had on me (though it totally didn't) ended there. I was welcomed by a huge menu with many options, few over 10 bucks (which is about the price you'd pay for just rice in Seattle). I chose moo-shu chicken, something I;ve never tried before. I think the waitress noticed my hesitation and offered to make it a bit less spicy. My son ordered a kids meal with sweet and sour pork, fried rice and chow mein. We also got egg rolls and shrimp crowns. I DEVOURED the shrimp crowns, some of the best I've ever had. Next came the egg rolls which were about as big as a burrito. Once our main courses came out we were almost too full to eat them. The moo shoo chicken did not dissipoint. It was a piping hot plate of delicious-ness. It had just the right amount of spice and TONS of chicken. As for the discerning tastes of my six year old? "it tastes like it was made by angels." Yea, that pretty much sums it up. read more

My family and I have been patronizing this place for many years. It's a family run, family owned place that makes the food from scratch and in utter truth, blows the doors off any of the North Division places. Outstanding food and service for the price! A great value for our family of five. Portions are plentiful and the prices very fair. We've ordered the daily special many, many times and it's hot, it's served with pride and it's delicious. The location is a little tough to love at times as it is small and you're within earshot of others. I keep coming back for the crab puffs. gorgeous little gems shaped like crowns and REAL crab. I have never had better. Went there with a friend. Because we heard they have good Chinese food. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken. The place was a rush they didn't bother taking care of us. I tried the sweet and sour chicken prolly picked 4 or 5 chicken to see if I can find the taste and found none it was plain. So I asked the Chinese kid in the blue shirt or Hoodie. Asked him nicely if I could switch it to something different like the general tsao chicken. This kid have the audacity to tell me that I started eating it (well duh you have to eat it to try it) and didn't ask what's wrong with my food. I tried didn't really like it prolly left a whole plate worth of food and my friend didn't even finish his halfway. We paid and left. Didn't left a tip cause it was horrible customer service, bad food and rude workers. I'm definitely not going back there and I'm gonna tell my friends that I worked with and everyone on base to never go there cause they will be disappointed. They didn't even bother fixing it or make us happy. I hope they do something about that kid cause it seems like he doesn't like his job and he's doing a horrible customer service.
