I would consider this the best Chinese food in Spokane. I have been going there for years and almost always order a #8. Love their egg flower soup too. They are very quick and serve large portions (enough for a meal the next day). This restaurant is owned and ran by a wonderful family. read more

We were the first people to be seated in an empty restaurant. When we entered the facility the man at the counter said "Good Evening". The waitress came to us and said "right this way". She walk us to a table and threw the menus on the table and walked away, without saying a word. Approximately 7 to 8 people were seated after us. They all were receiving their food and we still hadn't been offered to take our order yet. When the waitress did come to take our order she interrupted our order to go answer the phone. No apologies or anything. Finally she came back and we placed our order. At this point we had been in the restaurant about half an hour. When we did receive our order it was wrong. My husband brought it to the waitress attention and she very loudly told us, that is what we ordered. My husband said "no it wasn't and proceeded to tell her what we DID ordered". She started to argue with him. Everyone in the restaurant was looking at us. And finally I said, "don't worry about it". I don't go to a restaurant for the stress and arguments over what I ordered. The waitress never offered to replace my meal with what I did originally order. Nor did she offer any apologies for the giving me the wrong order. So I put my meal off to the side and let my husband finish his meal. When we went to pay our bill, there were no apologies or anything for the mix up. Nor did they take the uneaten plate off my tab. This is second time we have eaten at this restaurant and our first dining experience was OK, so we thought we would give it another try. But this time it was horrible. The waitress we had tonight is rude, bossy and argumentative. The service was extremely poor and the food is not very good either. We are the kind of people if we like a restaurant we will visit frequently. I don't think we will be going back to this one. Don't waste you time or money on this one. read more

This place had many good reviews from people i know so i gave it a 2nd chance..the atmosphere is depressing the staff was more than rude, the lady actually scared me!the food arrived cold and the chicken actually smelled bad. I ate some, mostly i was too afraid the lady would bite my head off if i sent it back( or theyd do something worse to my meal if possible) and i got very sick. Went in there tonight. Used to my favorite restaurant in sookane. Absolutely HORRIBLE SERVICE. I asked for a substitution on my meal and it was 3.00. They didn't have any other meals on the whole menu. So I paid for the substitution. The food cane out and if was horrible. I only fly 5 pieces of sweet and sour chicken, and noodles that were dry, my soup was overcooked and tasted like salt. My egg roll was soggy- and salt filled. I had iced tea that tasted like it was out of date. Horrible food and horrible service. And no refills on soft drinks, come on. I won't be coming bAck here again. read more

The food my aunt got was great so for that alone I would give it 4 stars. However the menu said that substations could be made for $1 on the combination meals. I asked for lemon chicken instead of almond chicken and was told "no, that is only sold by itself" I then asked to have cashew chicken instead of almond chicken and was told "no, because that is too many vegetables". WTF!?! Too many vegetables? I've never heard of such a thing, especially since veggies are usually less expensive than meat! So you can't sub even though the menu says you can. You can't sub even if you will gleefully pay the extra $1 just to get what you want because... too much vegetables. I ended up not ordering anything but sat with my aunt while she ate because I am not going to pay for food I don't want. I will not be returning, no matter how good the food may be... service and reasonable accommodations are worth more to me and since I can get them elsewhere along with awesome food I would rather give those establishments my business! read more

Mostly would describe this food as disgusting. It never tastes the same-sometimes the weird gravy is sour, sometimes salty, sometimes no flavor at all. This is one of the worst chinese food establishments I have ever spent money on. read more

Ming Wah's is one of my favorite places in Spokane! The food comes fast and is affordable. The staff is hard working and very nice, they always remember who you are and make sure to ask about your day. Food is great! Sure the décor is not amazing, but personally I would rather have great food and great service over décor. Plus it does feel cozy once you become a regular. read more

Definitely a hole in the wall. Great takeout fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, and teriyaki pork. Orders usually ready in 15-20 minutes. Wish they had delivery, but picking up takeout isn't that big of a deal. Good amount of food for the price. We will definitely have leftovers. I don't know what is up with the other reviews but this place wasn't even worth of one star. Had a craving for Chinese and took the yelpers advice and went to Ming Wah...seriously disappointing. The food was bland and tasted horrible. We got the Mongolian Beef, Mushu Chicken, and Potstickers. Potstickers tasted ok. The entrees were horrible and the pancakes that came out with the Mushu Chicken were ice cold on arrival. The waitress ignored us and we had to get up and get our own boxes and check. Cheap Chinese! The quantity of what you get for the price you pay is awesome. My husband is an Asian food buff, he thought this place was average. Decent pot stickers, good pork fried rice, Mongolian beef wasn't good though, it was thick sauce and way different from anywhere we've had. The ambiance is definitely less than great. Ming Wah is horrible. They serve the worst Chinese food I have ever eaten. I used to teach at a Buddhist boarding school in the Bay Area, and thus am accustomed to pretty crappy, super oily, cafeteria-style chinese food. Ming Wah is far, far worse. I went there with a large group of friends, 14 total, I have to say this was a perfect storm of bad service, rude staff and bad food.... I ordered an egg roll....don't, it was some kind of filling surrounded by a clump of breading...though we all ordered our individual meals, it was served family style....so, 4 egg rolls, one plate, 1 small dish of dipping sauce....the waitress dumped it on the table and disappeared until the main dish came....so there was not enough dipping sauce to go around....nice...needed something to make the "egg roll" taste better... I ordered a soft drink, btw, NO refills :-( so, the food arrived, I ordered Szechwan beef, I got some kind of brown corn starch/sugar mess goop that frankly looked disgusting....but, as the others food came I realized it was about the same....Moo Shoo filling that looked just like my beef instead of light and airy, sweet and sour that had a sauce that looked like glue, almond chicken that looked like someone threw up on it....disgusting....but, being in a group, I stayed and ate as much as I could stand... again, all the dishes were served family style regardless of who ordered what. I told her I would need a separate check, she ignored me, the check came as one bill, I said we needed separate checks she said too bad you figure it out...so, we all went up to the cashier and paid one by one telling them what we had, it took forever as they apparently were having difficulties with a large group.... Final straw, is that after eating less the 25% of my "meal" paying $19 for the pleasure, I got home and became fairly ill so, yeah, wonderful experience....funny I have managed not to eat here for the more than 20 years I have lived in Spokane....apparently I was appalled enough by the building to stay away and, had the group of friends I met with not wanted to eat there, I would have easily gone another 20 years without eating there. read more

Well, it's really two and a half to three but Spokane is notorious for poor Chinese food. But four here...... Not thickly sweet saucy goofy crap and some of the dishes, of you ask, can be cooked to order. The majority of dishes are not bad but if you order almond chicken you deserve why you get. Anyone who orders almond chicken, is, well, crazy. But I digress. Ambience not all that great, to go is better option. The regular appetizers are all terrible. Soups are o.k. But if you ask for chicken with black bean sauce and specify non Americanized they will treat you right. Overall, it's not great but it's above average and might even survive in larger cities. While on a business trip to Spokane, we went for Chinese food and the ratings that we read for Ming Wah were pretty ok. The experience was not as good. The service was excellent, the couple who own/run it were very courteous and prompt in their service. The food portions were huge, but the flavor was not. Everything pretty much tasted the same and everything was smothered in white gravy that literally did not have any flavor except for the flavor of uncooked flour. However, I will say that I meant to ask for my food to not be prepared with msg and I forgot to ask. I was worried because normally I will get an acute migraine within 5-10 minutes of eating msg, and my stomach will be upset. I did not experience any of those things!! Did I actually find a Chinese restaurant that does NOT cook with msg?!?!? This alone would cause me to return to this restaurant and when I order next time I will ask for the gravy or sauce to be light or on the side. read more

Good food, large portions, and low price. Lots of items are fried , so it is a little greasy, but there is so much food you can be selective, and I tend to pull most of the batter off anyway. The one thing I noticed when I first came to Spokane, was the almost all of the Chinese restaurants had pink/orange neon lining their buildings and signs. A lot of those restaurants were either mediocre or not even worth a mention. Ming Wah is the one exception. While it is American -style Chinese food and the interior decor looks like it has not been remodeled since 1972, the food is quite good and the portions they serve are generous. The Egg Foo Young is amazing as is the hand made egg rolls. You won't walk away from here hungry! read more
