I previously left MINHS Auto with a less-than-satisfactory review. However, Nick reached out to me regarding the poor experience and offered to make it right. I was pleasantly surprised by the negotiation on Nick's part and the effort to improve customer relations. I decided to go for a second chance and have MINHS fix my failing ground strap which was possibly causing low voltage in my decade old BMW 328XI. They diagnosed the problem and gave me calls to update me with the discovery process. I had brought them the wrong part to replace it with but Nick offered to acquire the strap for me at a later time. After diagnostics and cleaning of the dirty ground cable, my bimmer was getting 13.8V again, a far cry from the 13.0V I had brought it in at. All in all, it was a very pleasant interaction in an otherwise busy shop at closing time. Great attempt to negotiate a poor customer experience. Very empathetic owner, enough to change a 0 star review to a 4-5 star experience. This should be how all auto shops operate. 5/5 would come here again read more

TLDR: I was charged over $1100 and problem was not fixed [See attached invoice]. I went to separate shop and problem was solved for $125; hence, I have zero confidence in MINHS as a trust worthy repair shop. Wanted a BMW certified Shop to service my 2008 BMW. This is my back up car, so i don't drive it much. Drove from Jersey to BK (where I am from) based on this shop's ratings. After diagnostics, was told I needed to Replace battery, change tires so they can ensure that the work they performed would get me through inspection. After $1,125, the problem was not fixed and they wanted another $700 to replace my Purge Valve -- without guaranteeing that the Check Engine Light would come off. I have an Automatic (OBD Adapter) which already told me that I had a Purge Valve issue [OBD came up with p0444 code], and also that repair shops can (and will) inflate price for what is not necessarily a complicated fix. Frustrated, I cut my loses. ~1 week later, my Starter failed-- Starter somehow was not the repair list from MINHS. I asked a friend for a Repair shop recommendation in Jersey where I live. $450 for Starter $125 TO FIX PURGE VALVE ISSUE (again MINHS quoted me $700)- Car passed inspection. They're super knowledgeable, for sure. But they're also not afraid to charge you for "whatever". I think if you know your car well, you'd be fine to take it here. But if you come off like you don't have a clue, they'll take that opportunity to charge you for a bunch of stuff you genuinely do NOT need done. :) read more

Seems like something has changed over at MINHS. I brought my old Audi wagon to MINHS for 6 years with no problems. I recently brought my new Allroad in for a standard 40K checkup. There were absolutely no problems and it ran perfectly. They told me I needed new tires (which I knew) and also had a a cracked valve cover and said i needed the direct injection service (portions of the service which it turns out I didn't need). I had tires replaced during the 40K checkup. When I picked up, I was driving down to VA only to have my tire pressure warning go off mid I-95. I had to pull over and go to a local shop, where they informed me the pressure was fine and that MINHS never reset the computer. A pain, but not a real problem. Then I brought the car back after my trip for the cracked gasket and direct injection service. First I was a bit surprised at the incredibly high cost of the work (but i've trusted them for year. hindsight, i should have priced it out at other shops.) The real problem came when I picked up the car. Remember - the car has always run perfectly. I drive it out of the shop and the first thing i notice is that it gets caught and rev's too high at low speeds and won't shift. This happens about once every 60 miles or so, so not constant. And I also notice that the car startup is super sluggish. I bring the car back in. MINHS tells me that they can not find anything wrong. I explain that the car ran fine till the day they did work on it. Since the rev'ing issue only happens occasionally and the sluggish start still starts the car, I let it go. Cut to last week. I park the car in the city. When I get back, it won't start. Looks like sluggish start was an issue. I call Audi Roadside who only tows to Audi dealerships. They look at the car, and they had to replace the starer motor. Guess what...car now starts up just like it had before my visit to MINHS. All I can say is be warned. Shop does not seem as top notch as it was a year ago. And they definitely push unnecessary services on you which they never did in the past. read more

Took my car back for some additional servicing and got a bit worried when I was told there are some other problems they want to look into. At first I reacted that this was another typical mechanic scam but cautiously went ahead and gave them the go ahead to diagnose the issue. When I went to pick up the car at the end of the day, I was quite surprised how honest they were. They said that they failed to diagnose the issue and did not feel they could charge me for their time. They even offered to hand wash my car. These guys are definitely trustworthy! It's hard enough to find decent auto support in any category. Recently I was driving home from the east end and an oil warning came on. I simply stopped by MINHS on the off chance they could quickly remediate the problem. Sure enough, they graciously asked a few questions, made the fix, and I was on my way in a matter of 15 minutes. These guys love cars. They take tremendous pride in the quality of their work and their relationship with customers. They use best in class technology that one would expect in 2019. Compared to the dealership service experience across NYC, it's a wildly pleasant change of pace. Several months ago when I was considering purchasing a certified used vehicle, I brought it to MINHS so they could do a deep dive on the state of the car. When I picked up the car, I already had an email in my inbox with a full PDF read out of every aspect of the car, checklists, high res annotated photographs of areas that might cause concern (!!) that I brought right to the dealer as a negotiating tool. All told, these guys were worth the expense twenty fold. Can't recommend highly enough. read more

I'm a loyal customer of MINHS and have been coming for years. I have a 2007 BMW 328i and have been bringing it since 2011. The service is bar none. Everything from oil leaks to routine maintenance is fixed by these guys. They accommodate my busy schedule and are highly professional when it comes to explaining the work that needs to be done. Disregard the naysayers here, nothing beats the quality of the parts and labor these guys offer. If you're looking for the cheapest shop then this isn't the place for you. The quality of service and the 3 year warranty more than justifies the price. Before MINHS I was taking my car to the dealer and it was worse service for more money. I love that MINHS is a small business with the state of the art technology and professionalism you'd expect from a large business. I tell all my friends and family to bring their cars here. They "fixed" my Volvo after one month and charged me $1900. Invoice is clearly saying that there is a warranty for parts and labor. After 5 days car has stopped in the middle of the road with the same problem. The next day I called and James told me to tow it back and they will fix and reimburse the towing expenses. Another month it was sitting in their shop and waiting for the part from Canada as per James words. Got the car back with even more problems. They don't want to give me the money they took and towing expenses. My wife is pregnant and we need a car. Right now it's parked on the street and again the same problem. If you guys can't get the job done don't take it and don't be taking peoples money for nothing! Very bad way of doing business! Stay away from this place! No matter what you guys trying to prove here the fact is Customer is not happy and that's all. read more

I just brought MINHS my "new to me" 2006 X5. I'm from the auto industry but must either be a bit of a masochist or a bit stupid, probably both - because I knew the car was going to cost money. It did! The good news is that I spent that money at MINHS. They are pros! From my first interactions on the phone with Luke, who was patient, engaged and thorough - to all of my dealings with James, who is a customer service champ, everything was top notch! James did everything he said he'd do exactly when he said he would. He was 100% transparent with all their findings and his attention to detail, demeanor and knowledge was tremendous. I paid a very fair amount to have the X5 gone over front to back and top to bottom. They then sent me a link to a detailed diagnostic report - including pictures - and provided an item by item estimate. James helped me prioritize and select what to do now and what to keep an eye on. They use OEM or, if agreed, other high end parts. Their work - parts and labor - is guaranteed for 3years! Yes, they are not the cheapest facility to repair your car, but they are one of the best!! If you think a great mechanic is expensive then wait until you realize what a bad mechanic costs you... I interacted with James, Luke and Chris - all of whom were extremely friendly, courteous and client focused. Thanks gentlemen! I've been bringing my baby, a pretty rare '06 Volvo S60R, to Minhs for over a year now, and I'm so glad I found them. They're honest, thorough and reliable, and they explain everything clearly. Just picked up my 2004 321c Beemer and couldn't be happier with how beautifully the car is running and how attentive they were to my concerns. Nick took care of me in his usual thorough manner , but Chris and Tam have also been great to me in the past. No concern is overlooked or dismissed. My car runs like it's brand new. I tried this place for a wheel alignment and was met with an unpleasant first encounter due to an overly intrusive list of questions asked prior to taking vehicle delivery for a 'required 80 point inspection' before addressing the requested alignment. Sure. Months later, against my better judgement, I scheduled an appointment over the phone and went in a second time for an emergency. I was unfortunately turned away since before taking delivery of my car, I observed the associate Nick opening then reviewing my customer-file which documented seemingly racist and biased remarks in response to those original questions. Nicks behavior was nothing short of repulsive through insinuating my car was stolen and finding it amusing for me to leave the shop the with an unsafe vehicle. It should also be noted no one was wearing a mask- September 2020. I could go on about the experience but I'd rather express fascination over yet another redundant, microcosmic display of profound garbage right in my backyard. If you are seeking a repair shop that places emphasis on customer safety, satisfaction and experience, THIS IS NOT THE ESTABLISHMENT FOR YOU. The prices are actually higher than the dealership's and given brand responsibility during this social climate, you are likely to receive far better, uncompromised service. read more

Wanted to shout out Nick and Chris for the thorough inspection of my Mercedes Benz. Loved the fact that the printout included photos to back up the recommendations. The inspection diagnosis was in the $150 range, and in the past I'd paid twice that at the dealer, just for a diagnosis. Also, I loved the fact that the suggestions were broken down into categories; my experience at the dealer is just one long print out recommending $30K of repairs with no guidance as to how to proceed. While I ultimately decided not to make the repairs and in the process of moving on to something else, I have a more thorough understanding around the issues with the vehicle, which will help me inform the conversation with a dealer/personal buyer. I did not feel pushed to make the repairs or rushed with discussing options. I see that the reviews here are somewhat mixed and admittedly, I didn't complete any work with MINHS, I would trust them with thoroughly inspecting my vehicle. They've been around this long for a reason. And this is not a fake review (just go to my page and see I'm pretty active on YELP). read more

I'd definitely recommend MINHS Automotive, I originally had my X5 truck at BMW and realized BMW wasn't focused on the main/underlying issue and after doing careful and extensive research I came across MINHS and the mechanics know what they are doing you have to actually get the service they provide, to understand 5 stars and me explaining doesn't do enough Justice. I recommend Nick if you do go and I'm sure the others may be just as great but from my experience Nick is very straightforward, doesn't cut any corners, punctual, and will have you feeling well relaxed knowing your vehicle is in good hands. Nick is highly knowledgeable and very detailed in explanation, and getting to the point without giving you a boring lecture about your vehicle. The customers satisfaction is priority and Nick has went above and behind in helping me with my BMW 5.0i drive X5. They also can refer you to Top Notch specialists for any part or issue they may not be able to resolve. I will definitely refer them to close friends or family members. I brought my mini in for a service and because there was a message that wouldn't go away that the tires needed adjusting. When I picked it up from them, it kept stalling out, which it had NEVER done before, and with the exact same message about the tires. When I picked it up again the message came back immediately and it still stalled out. After that they said I was blaming them for something they didn't do ("we only checked the oil") and it must be a fault in the car and refused to take it back. They took zero responsibility for what they had done, and were insulting, nasty, and disrespectful about it too. Watch out for these crooks! read more

I am a very unsatisfied customer. I brought my car in for ABS diagnostic issue i had. They had the car for 2 days. Could not find my issue and still charged me for the diagnostic work. I felt like since they were not able to find the issue i should not be responsible for paying for diagnostics. I later took the car to a different shop which found the issue in 30 minutes it was a bad abs sensor and was fixed in an hour. I would not recommend their service and they were very pricey as well. read more

You basically see nothing but high-end imports at this shop, and there's good reason for that. Quality, honest service. I take my Land Rover LR3 to these guys, and they know the vehicle well. Tranny service, control arms with poly bush, differentials, etc. Everything expertly removed and installed with great care to the truck. I was throwing a knock sensor code, and asked them to swap the sensor out. Got a call a day later letting me know that the sensor itself was fine, and it just needed a rewire at the harness. They could have taken my money, but instead saved me close to $500 in parts and labor. The warranty on installed parts is not to be under estimated either. As long as I'm in Brooklyn, this is my shop. Thanks for the service, fellas. read more

My car has been dealer serviced since I got it 5 years ago. This was mostly because I didn't know who else to take it to. That's until I found Minhs in my neighborhood. They were awesome and trustworthy. They sent a very detailed report of necessary and recommended fixes along with photos. The photos were a nice touch. My car is not a luxury vehicle or European. It's a 2015 Honda Fit and they took it in without question. The mechanic I dealt with, also Ryan, explained each needed fix in detail and answered all of my questions. He even showed me how to clear my sunroof drain since I was getting water into the car due to clogged drains. I'd recommend them to anyone who is looking for a competent and trustworthy mechanic. The first time I came to Minh's, I loved it. This time not so much. In terms of positives, everyone is super friendly and my sense is they are honest (unlike the Mini dealer I went to previously). However I had several issues that left me dissatisfied: (1) Price - $141 for an oil and filter change! I paid $94 at the dealer, and the dealer is in mid-town Manhattan; Minhs is in the industrial part of Brooklyn. Also I had a brake job done and they charged me over $100 for a "brake inspection" on top of $782 for front brakes and rotors (2) recommendations - I came in for a brake job, and they performed a "courtesy safety inspection". They recommended changing brake fluid and radiator coolant, even though I had just had both done at 30K miles, and only have 34K miles now. Evidently the dealer only entered the 30K servicing into Carfax, and not the specific work. But if you say you are doing an inspection, shouldn't you actually INSPECT? If they had simply looked at the brake fluid and coolant, they would have seen it was clean. (3) timeliness - they had to revise the delivery time a couple of times, and still missed it by an hour. They usually wash the car but didn't because they were running so late. It feels like adding insult to injury to pay $1,700 for repairs, and still drive away in a car covered in bird poop. All in all very disappointing. I'll keep looking for a decent repair shop with at least semi-reasonable prices. read more

These guys are great. My car was getting water into the interior, and I brought to them to check out. They diagnosed what they thought was the problem and fixed it. When the problem persisted, I took it back to them and they found the real source of the issue and fixed it without further charge. Very earnest shop that wants to do right by its customers. I left my car there and they charged me $400 to diagnose my car which is ridiculous. I came to pick up my car unannounced and I see it sitting outside with dirt all over the front, 2 workers leaning on it smoking a cigarette and the front was touching a pole in front of it. How professional is that eh? I will never ever come back here again. IF YOU CHERISH YOUR VEHICLE, STAY AWAY. They do not take care of your car at all..
