After a long morning we decided to stop here for coffee before we head out to lunch nearby. Service was pretty slow. There was a decent amount of customers. Gave it 2 stars due to our drinks tasting water down. We both ordered an iced white mocha and added cinnamon. This is usually my to go drink when I'm trying new coffee shops. It was a big disappointment. Friend agreed it did not taste good. Both were too tired to ask them to remake and/or complain so we just left since service was already slow as well. The line across the street was ridiculous so we decided to give Opray's fav muffin place a try. The wait was reasonable 10 am on a Sunday. This review is for the " Mini Model" take out stand at Yountville, not the main bakery in Napa. Also note the hours at Mini Model are different, its closed Mon to Wed. I am not into muffins, but this version with butter & jam was as good as advertised. Sliced thin & toasted, the exterior was crispy while not over burned, interior doughy & piping hot which helped the jam & butter settling into their rightful place. Breakfast sausage muffin sandwich was amazing. While the muffin was not as crispy as the plain version it was still very good: soft, doughy & light. The sausage was juicy & the egg was fluffy & airy. The red pepper sauce was a nice touch while the cheese just melted into the sandwich. Not sure if i can go back to the McDonalds or Burger King BF sandwiches after this. The house coffee was very good: rich, earthy & slightly acidic. The wine & coffee enthusiasts with sophisticated taste buds will appreciate. Almond croissant was pretty standard, not bad while not spectacular. Then again after our experience in Lafayette Bakery in Carmel all other croissants pale in comparison. This bakery is connected to a hotel that was of an interesting design. The rooms appear to be sitting on a 19th century train carriage. My friends and I were not thrilled with Mini Model. I was not impressed with their famous English muffins. We tried them alone and as a sandwich and they were both disappointing. The only thing I would recommend is the tomato soup. The soup was very good. If you are going to try it just make sure you're ready to stand in line. Came back for more English muffins! I also tried the sausage breakfast sandwich. It was warm and flavorful. The egg and sausage were tender and the sauce was amazing! The sauce made the breakfast sandwich stand out from others. It took a while to get the sandwich. There is sign that says that the bakery is short staffed. read more

I would've counted off a star for them not leaving the Canadian bacon off as my wife had requested, but her replacement sandwich was just as good as mine, and four stars just didn't seem right. I'm an early riser and stopped by this Model Bakery location at opening time. It was still quiet and all the English muffins were in stock. The breakfast sandwich was tasty and hearty enough to kick start a busy day. But the simple butter and jam English muffin is the absolute best! I could eat this every morning. And I tried for a while... i bought some English muffins to bring home. Toast and slather with some good butter and good jam with some coffee for the perfect breakfast. Plus this location is super close to Bouchon bakery. As if I didn't have enough carbs, I walked on over to the bouchon line shortly after to bring more goodies home. read more

Model Bakery is always on our itinerary when visiting Napa. We prefer this location for its seasonal coffees, lavender lattes are my favorite here! Now I understand Oprah's hype over these English muffins, they are airy and crispy at the same time, the perfect consistency in every bite. I'm a bit bummed they don't have the veggie breakfast sandwich here, which had a hash brown inside, compared to the Napa location, but the sausage one is just as good (if you're not vegetarian). This location is more of a grab a go spot. There's a balcony with a single row of seating. Plenty of parking, located next to the V Marketplace. Thrilled that Model Bakery has a little sister location on Washington now! The yummiest English Muffins around! Now, there is a local place near me that does damn good English Muffins BUT Model Bakery's are completely different than any other English Muffin you'll ever try (or that I ever have). I was recently in town for a marathon and knew I had to pick one up for race day breakfast. I put a lot of pressure on one English muffin, but truth be told I was a nervous wreck and really was only able to have a bite or two before the race. I did devour it later that afternoon once I made it back to the car. I purchased the day before and stored in a plastic bag, it was still totally fresh the next day so you can without a doubt travel home with these bad boys. This place is yummy, yummy, yummy! I know everyone has Bouchon on their mind while they're looking for brekke options but living in LA and traveling to Vegas often, there's nothing all that special about Bouchon for me (don't get me wrong I have some favs there) but if you haven't tried Model Bakery I'd highly recommend not missing out. read more

I was really excited to come to this place, only to find out they were sold out of almost everything by 10am. Kind of disappointing, especially since they are a bakery and it was morning time and they are only open for a few hours. The everything bagel with butter was nothing special, and my chai latte was just a little over half full. It barely tasted like chai, just like warm milk. The best part of this place is truly the English muffins, as I have heard. Thankfully, they had a few left when I arrived so I decided to try some with butter and raspberry jam. We knew from pictures and past experience that there was a bacon burrito on the menu. When we got there I ordered the chorizo wrap but didn't see the bacon burrito on the menu. I thought I would ask staff if they still sold or made it (thinking it was maybe an off the menu item). The young man said there was one left so we ordered it. Once our order was called up, I walked up and picked up the food and noticed the item tag had 1 chorizo wrap but also a model wrap but the tinfoil had the word bacon on it. I asked the young man if this was the bacon burrito and he said it was. After sitting down and eating w/ my partner, my partner said there was next to no bacon and it wasn't how she remembered it. I walked up to the kiosk and explained we saw pics they had a bacon burrito and that's what we tried to order but there wasn't any bacon and it appears to be a different kind of wrap. A dark hair woman asked to see and she inspected the wrap/burrito and said: yes there is, it's right there. Rather than argue about the amount of bacon and reiterating that wasn't what we were trying to order, I decided to walk away and cut our losses. 3 stars because the chorizo wrap was delicious, -2 stars for what I consider to be bad customer service. Instead of doing an autopsy on our food, how about seeing how you can make it right? read more

Small walk up bakery with the infamous "Oprah's favorite" english muffin. Same stuff that they have in the Napa location the only difference is that you don't have outdoor seating. This location does close early and sell out fast on weekends so keep that in mind. I plan to come here again to try all the different sandwiches they have available. If you want to try the best English Muffin, look no further! Hotel Yountville served us these muffins for breakfast and I devoured this English muffin. It is the perfect texture of chewy and cloudy and the taste was divine. They had a wide array of items on their menu and I was intrigued by their cinnamon roll. It was not what I was expecting as it had the texture of a croissant and came with raisins and nuts. Loved the nuts, hated the raisin. The frosting was also overly sweet. Buttery yet light and fluffy, these muffins always hit the spot. The butter and jams that accompany the muffins are so perfect, that I've never felt the need to venture out into the breakfast sandwiches. The opening hours are limited, so make sure to check before going in! I've ordered these for pick up before, but I've found that standing in line and getting these freshly toasted is more gratifying. I received a confirmation text and email that my order was confirmed and a pick time. When I arrived to pick up my order I was told they could not fulfill my order because they were out of food. That is strange enough as it is but the fact that the woman was extremely rude about the situation is what made this experience worse. I was visiting family in Yountville and Buchón is usually our go to place but I wanted to try Model this time around. I noticed as customers came to pick up their order they were always thanking the employees, but there was no acknowledgment, but I didn't think much of that. One customer received a wrong drink order which they promptly remade for her. As the customer was leaving, she looked around all of us, waiting in line and offered her drink since it was a mistake. After a few moments, my mom decided that she would try the drink. The young woman behind the counter told her she couldn't take it. When my mom explained that the drink was a mistake and the customer offered it she said she still cannot take it. A male worker, then proceeded to take the drink and abruptly throw it away. I was in utter shock. My mom then went up to the female worker and explained she had been in the service business for 35 years and that it is a goodwill gesture to give someone a drink if it was a mistake and going to be thrown out anyway. The girl basically ignored her and couldn't have cared less. This is not the Yountville service. I have come to love. My parents who are residents will no longer be back nor will. Honestly, it has been a long time since I have seen such rude service. read more

I visited Model bakery a number of times at the Oxbow location, but first time in this location. It's a little smaller, hence the name Mini Model Bakery. Lol. Oprah loves those famous English muffins for 2 years in a row I think. Definitely homemade and better than the generic commercial made ones that grocery stores sell because those have preservatives and who know how long they have sat in a shelf. I like freshly made ones. I mostly prefer there baked goods, but I bought some folks with me and they got the apricot jam and two bags of the famous English muffins and two cups of Apple cider and coffee. I went for the lemon tart which was nice and my super favorite the feta and spinach croissant. Really yummy in my tummy. Will go back for that one again! I enjoy the strong flavors. Easy parking and there are other restaurants and stores around this area, so it would be a nice place to leisurely walk and buy stuff. We saw Model across the street from Bouchon and decided to hop over to check out the baked goods. We noticed that there was an English Muffin that Oprah praised about so we decided to share one and grab an iced coffee. This location is tiny and shares a space with the connecting train looking hotel. There is a few bar stools to enjoy your coffee and pastries out front and a small parking lot with ample street parking nearby. We order the muffin "well done" with butter and 2 sides of jams. We felt the muffin was OK. The jams were delicious, and paired well with the toasted muffin. The iced coffee was good with a tad of sweetener. The staff were friendly and very helpful with our selections. Great alternative if Bouchon gets too lengthy. read more

Due to covid19 and majority of restaurants still are closed, Bouchon had a long line and thus so slow so our second option nearby was this one... It was already past the breakfast rush, and I was honestly worried that they'd be sold out of English muffins (buds have told me that they've experienced this at other locations). BUT this location is more of a grab and go sitch. Only a small balcony to grab and eat and go for a few, which was fine by us. My main issue with Model though is that the Original Breakfast Muffin option were premade with the sausages already in them? She asked if it'd be okay to take the sausage out since I don't eat meat. That's pretty unfortunate for ppl who are super strict on their diets, but I risked it this time. I can hear Oprah screaming behind me "I love bread". Their signature item (and frankly the only one I've had) is the "English muffin". Bear in mind the only thing in common with these and the thing you got from the hotels free breakfast is the name, general shape, and the sprinkle things on the crust.
