    Mini Pancakes with toppings
    Samantha S.

I used the mini pancake cart for my daughter's first birthday in November 2021. It was a HIT! Such a unique dessert option and experience for our 75 guests. Set up was cute, clean and the topping options were perfect. Served warmed and prepared in front of guests as they order. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking to add a unique vendor at a private event.

Since this place is right next to Yum Long Chinese restaurant, it was the perfect little dessert stop after lunch. Hubby and I shared the crème brûlée pancake and an espresso smoothie, and both were delicious! The pancake was incredibly fluffy and airy, with that light, sponge-like texture you want from a good Japanese soufflé pancake. I also really liked that the sauces weren't overwhelmingly sweet, so the dessert didn't feel heavy or sugary. The espresso smoothie was another pleasant surprise--creamy, flavorful, and with a nice coffee kick that paired perfectly with the pancake. Overall, a really satisfying way to finish the night. If you're already in the area for dinner at Yum Long, definitely save some room for dessert!!!!

I arrived in Alhambra one Sunday afternoon with the intention to hit 4 food spots to redeem free offers. They are part of the 24 participating restaurants in the food passport. I only got to two places and Popping Yolk Cafe (PYC) was one of them. PYC was number 6th stamp in my food passport! Free parking was easy at the Mosaic Parking Structure (4 hours limit). Very short walk from parking to restaurant. First time at PYC. I was lucky to get here thirty minutes prior to closing time. They specialize in breakfast and brunch only. Their free passport offer is 1 Benedict Entree or 1 French Toast Entree. Dine in only and no substitutions. Thanks PYC! Interior space was quite nice and vibey. Tables were clean. Ambiance was relaxing and cozy. Love the beautiful yellow decor! Plenty of inside seating with no exterior seating. Mia was the young lady staff who welcomed me with a friendly greeting and took my order. She was super nice, patient, and helpful. Other staff members were cordial and attentive. Thanks Mia and All! WOW, what a super amazing free food offer! I didn't hesitate and got the Avocado Benedict. Both eggs were perfectly poached. Avocado was just ripe. Ham slices were thick and tasty. Hollandaise sauce was rich and buttery with a bit of tangy taste. Just one small gripe, the english muffin did not appear to have been toasted. It was tough to cut through. Other than that, it was a fantastic benedict entree for a first timer like myself. I was feeling hungry so I also got an order of Ube French Toast and one Mango Green Tea (refillable). Another WOW, delicious house ube filling in a deep-fried toast topped with semi-sweet coconut flakes and fresh blueberries along with a drizzle of maple syrup and condensed milk. VERY YUMMY! This one is a winner! Mango green tea had deep tropical and tea flavors... nice drink! Menu has a great variety of egg benedicts and crunchy french toasts along with sandwiches, omelettes, burgers, crepes, waffles, pancakes, salad, and snacks. Prices were reasonable for the huge portions. Highly recommend! Love to return to try their other specialty breakfast and brunch items. I just need to get here early. Btw, besides Alhambra, they have two other locations... Pasadena and Hacienda Heights.

Worth the wait! I loved the variety of brunch dishes, some combinations that were rather unique and I hadn't seen before like a kimchi butter fried chicken eggs benedict. I got the Nashville fried chicken eggs benedict like it seems everyone does and it met the hype! The home fries were lightly crisped to perfection. The service was good as well, they came and refilled waters often. Our lychee sangria was pretty sweet but was really refreshing in this heat. Not too loud so you can have a nice chat with friends. There is free 4 hour parking in Lot 2 Parking Garage across the street.

I'd come back just for that. Loco moco was ok. Mac Nut pancake was ok. The sauce was more like a custard and I thought it would be a Mac nut whipped cream. Rice was good. No OJ was weird, so I got a soda. The service could use a little work. Train up your stuff and don't just hire anybody. Cashier was borderline rude and just not that helpful. As she was taking my order she stopped to spit out her gum. Shouldn't be chewing gum. Violation! The menus were beat up and I had to find them. Outdoor seating was ok, could use some rearranging. Not sure why there was a guy working on a greasy low boy near the outdoor seating. It's got a family chill vibe for sure. Decor is dated but it's ok. Doesn't really remind me of Hawaii but at least they tried.

Knowing what I know now as I write this review, we would return & bring friends here. It's about 78 to 80°F on a Friday a few minutes before 1 pm, surprisingly, it was low key--only a couple tables taken indoors by patrons and a set of guys on the patio. At the door, it said to seat ourselves & I immediately shot to the patio. The set up: once seated, the server comes with menus, you order & it's a sit down meal. Giselle was our friendly & attentive server, young & attentive. Hubby ordered the breakfast burrito ($11.50) & I opted for build your own omelette $11.50 for a 3 egg omelette & choice of two items- mushroom and bell peppers accompanied with breakfast potatoes, and chilaquiles ($13.99) to share. The patio seating is fresh, airy, there are tables, outdoor furnitures (sofas) and bright orange umbrellas for shade. My photos captured these elements. The food arrived shortly, although not all at once. I didn't mind it all because the ambiance was so soothing with the sound of birds chirping away and the background of other patrons talking. The only complaint from Hubby was too many pototo chunks in his burrito. My omelette was hot, fresh ingredients, delectable & the potatoes were mixed with 3 colors of bellpeppers. Oh and the chilaquiles? Pretty darn good! The tortilla chips were crispy, perfect amount of green salsa, freshly diced onions & a sprinkling of cotija cheese. Was I famished or was it that good that I devoured everything? What's left was Hubby's potato chunk discards. Giselle returned a few times to ensure our experience is to our satisfaction & another staff also stopped by to check on us. Such a perfect meal & day-- I'm so happy with this visit. The iced flight was also a great way to sample several of their flavors without having to commit to just one. For food, the Birria Benedict was the standout and easily our favorite dish. I loved the Mexican-inspired spin on a brunch classic, and the rich birria paired so well with the eggs and Benedict preparation. We also really enjoyed getting a mix of savory dishes with the Mole Chilaquiles and Huevos Rancheros before finishing with The Journey Pancakes for something sweet. Overall, Madres Brunch offers a huge variety of creative food and drinks, especially if you enjoy Mexican flavors and fun twists on traditional brunch. Definitely a place where I recommend coming hungry and ordering several things to share! Excellent service, as well.

I ordered the Peach pancakes (summer seasonal) this time, and I'm not even a big peach eater, but these had a great refreshing taste for the hot AF summer. Of course, they were not overly sweet whatsoever even with the vanilla bean ice cream on the side. The pancakes themselves taste a bit eggy and I'm an egg fan so that worked out great for me. I also ordered the peach lime tea and added clear boba, less sweet. The drink went perfectly because it had fresh lime and it's pleasant to pair sweets with savory & sour. Plus the textures from the boba and pancakes made it more fun to eat. I probably waited about 15 minutes or so for the pancakes, but the space itself is cute and the staff seem friendly. Their bathroom is clean and there are a good amount of spaces to sit inside and out. Parking seems to be free in the lot or underground. If you CUTE and SWEET I recommend ~
