2026-2027 MySGV X 626 Night Market Passport Limited Edition (valid through June 30, 2027) has elevated my food adventures recently. I arrived in Alhambra one Sunday afternoon with the intention to hit 4 food spots to redeem free offers. They are part of the 24 participating restaurants in the food passport. I only got to two places and Popping Yolk Cafe (PYC) was one of them. PYC was number 6th stamp in my food passport! Free parking was easy at the Mosaic Parking Structure (4 hours limit). Very short walk from parking to restaurant. First time at PYC. I was lucky to get here thirty minutes prior to closing time. They specialize in breakfast and brunch only. Their free passport offer is 1 Benedict Entree or 1 French Toast Entree. Dine in only and no substitutions. Thanks PYC! Interior space was quite nice and vibey. Tables were clean. Ambiance was relaxing and cozy. Love the beautiful yellow decor! Plenty of inside seating with no exterior seating. Mia was the young lady staff who welcomed me with a friendly greeting and took my order. She was super nice, patient, and helpful. Other staff members were cordial and attentive. Thanks Mia and All! WOW, what a super amazing free food offer! I didn't hesitate and got the Avocado Benedict. Both eggs were perfectly poached. Avocado was just ripe. Ham slices were thick and tasty. Hollandaise sauce was rich and buttery with a bit of tangy taste. Just one small gripe, the english muffin did not appear to have been toasted. It was tough to cut through. Other than that, it was a fantastic benedict entree for a first timer like myself. I was feeling hungry so I also got an order of Ube French Toast and one Mango Green Tea (refillable). Another WOW, delicious house ube filling in a deep-fried toast topped with semi-sweet coconut flakes and fresh blueberries along with a drizzle of maple syrup and condensed milk. VERY YUMMY! This one is a winner! Mango green tea had deep tropical and tea flavors... nice drink! Menu has a great variety of egg benedicts and crunchy french toasts along with sandwiches, omelettes, burgers, crepes, waffles, pancakes, salad, and snacks. Prices were reasonable for the huge portions. Highly recommend! Love to return to try their other specialty breakfast and brunch items. I just need to get here early. Parked at the free parking garage on First Street. Came during a weekend morning and there were about two tables in front of us. Saw some people ordered to go. If you dine in, you order at the counter, get your number, and get seated. They had indoor and patio seating in the back. The indoor table seatings were all taken and the patio seatings were opened except for one table. We got the Norwegian Benedict for $20.20, Classic Benedict for $18.75, Toffee Banana Crepe for $16, Mozzarella Sticks for $8, and refillable Mango Iced Green Tea for $6. The Benedict's were good and filling. The Toffee Banana Crepe was too sweet. The Mozzarella Sticks were alright, but a bit oily. The Mango Iced Green Tea was refreshing. Opened in late 2019 this is a really nice and casual breakfast option in Alhambra that specializes in Eggs Benedict, hence the name. It's not a full wait service restaurant, you order at the counter, they give you a number, and bring the food to you. The menu is also fairly small so there are not as many options as you would get in a diner or similar. Inside is medium sized and can host small and medium size groups, and they seem to turn the tables quite quickly. All the items that we ordered came out pretty fast. The one issue that we had was we both ordered breakfast dishes with no modifications and one of ours came out first and the other came out over 10 minutes later, so basically we ate our breakfast while looking at the other without eating. I wish they would have timed it up a bit better. They don't have a dedicated parking lot, but street parking was easy to find. We did not have a server however the staff that we did encounter were very polite. Just the issue we had was the mistiming of our breakfast dishes coming out. We ordered the Eggs and Bacon Standard Breakfast and the California Eggs Benedict. I will say that the Eggs Benedict eggs were done perfectly however, I wish there would be a little bit more variety in the protein choice, and the bread choice. My bread was also a bit soggy, but the eggs were very nice. Overall, a good option, however, not as great as some of the Pasadena options a bit further north. SGV passport brand us to dine in. Apparently there are 6 locations with a new one coming in 2027 MPK! Ordered the free item in our passport selected the original benedict. Ordered berry french toast. Both were super great! Big portion and beautifully plated. I don't usually eat french toast but theirs was crunchy and loved the added whip cream, blueberries and strawberries. We waited about a half hour for a table (there is a waitlist you have to check into on an iPad at the restaurant, which gives you live updates, we waited it out at the library down the street). Worth the wait! I loved the variety of brunch dishes, some combinations that were rather unique and I hadn't seen before like a kimchi butter fried chicken eggs benedict. I got the Nashville fried chicken eggs benedict like it seems everyone does and it met the hype! The home fries were lightly crisped to perfection. The service was good as well, they came and refilled waters often. Our lychee sangria was pretty sweet but was really refreshing in this heat. Not too loud so you can have a nice chat with friends. The fried chicken was crispy and wasn't dry with good kimchi flavor as well as a generous portion of real kimchi. The english muffin used was soft and the hollandaise sauce was tasty and saucy. The poached egg was good too, but a little overcooked. It came with a side of crispy country fried potatoes and a fresh salad which was a nice combo. Balanced and delicious breakfast! To dine-in, you order and pay at the counter and they give you a number and you will be delivered the food where you sit at. My friends and I went on a Saturday morning, so it was a bit busy. We had to wait a bit to order, but it wasn't too long. The interior is pretty neat and clean. Also dog friendly. No outdoor seating. For parking, there's free covered parking structures in the area. This might be a new favorite brunch spot for me! Their portions are also pretty big so can't go wrong with that. I got the Nashville hot chicken Benedict and it was soooo good I would get it again! Also got to try the bacon jam burger and that was flavorful and was on the sweeter side due to the jam but definitely didn't disappoint. For our drinks, the mango iced green tea was refreshing and refillable (awesome) and the potted plant latte was super cute and glad it tasted pretty good. Alexis, the order taker brought our dishes separately & Hubby cannot wait so he dug right in before mine arrived. I know it's not intentional, but I noticed that bigger table (6 patrons) had arrived after we did and they received their food very shortly and all at the same time. Not digging that. In any case, my food finally came & the anticipation was tingly. It's the best part, the toasts were crispy crunchy on the outside & moist on the inside-- so good! Well balanced sweetness, I had control over how much ube condensed milk was poured- that's a plus. Hubby didn't like the muffin of his eggs Benedict because he said it was "tough & stale" but the potatoes & eggs were good. We finished off the French toast in a heartbeat. They just opened another location in melrose and I got their green tea latte, special and new ube French toast, bacon jam burger, and kimchi butter fried chicken eggs Benedict to try. I got my friend their ube latte and they really enjoyed it. The green tea latte had strong green tea flaves and wasn't really sweet. The ube French toast was topped with some blueberries, had a crispity crunchity exterior with a fluffy soft custardy interior and ube filling. Didn't taste much like ube but was still very yummy. The bacon jam burger had a soft pillowy buttered bun, sweet Caramelized bacon jam, a sunny side up egg, gooey cheese, meaty juicy patty that did need some seasoning not gonna lie, and bitter arugula. I also got it with a side of their yummy sweet potato fries. The kimchi butter fried chicken eggs benny came with a side of a fresh leafy vinaigrette dressed salad and some not bad country potatoes. Been my first time in a while at this location and I'm pleased to say it's just as good as I remember. - Fried Chicken Kimchi Eggs Benedict: Sometimes restaurants just pile on random ingredients and hoping they meld together. Interestingly, the kimchi and fried chicken are a nice pairing. The sourness of the kimchi gutting through the greasiness of the chicken. Decadent as hell but it was nice for lunch. - Strawberry Cheesecake Crepe: Love me a little decadent crepe/waffle/pancake situation so this was the perfect option. Love Popping Yolk because they have a whole section on their menu of these dishes. The crepe itself had a nice crisp that didn't get soggy despite the plethora of ingredients. Richness on top of richness but I was feeling gluttonous so this hit the spot. Food here always hits and the service is great. The staff greeted me walking in and were super quick with the food. I have to ding one star for the service fee. I just don't believe anyone should accept these hidden fees anymore. It's also not transparent where this money goes. Always consistently great food. Go for any eggs benedict. The egg is always poached just right, and the ratio of egg to protein to vegetable is very balanced and everything taste fresh. The coffee tasted terrible, for 5$ plus free refill, not worth it at all. When my husbands classic eggs Benedict it looked spectacular, it came with potatoes and a spring salad.. the only good thing on the plate were the greens and potatoes. After waiting exactly 12 minutes for my French toast, I'd already lost my appetite. I ate 2/4 toasts which was more than enough although I felt a stomach ache come automatically from how sweet they were (I ordered the apple cinnamon French toast). Nashville Hot Chicken Benedict -- Crispy Nashville hot chicken with poached eggs, hollandaise, Cajun mayo, pickled cucumber, and coleslaw on an English muffin. So flavorful with just the right amount of heat. We also had to try two of their signature drinks! The famous Potted Plant Coffee was such a fun experience! A creamy latte topped with Oreo "dirt" and served with a tiny sprout, making it look just like a real potted plant. It tasted just as good as it looked! Egg Coffee was another first for me! It's made by whipping egg yolks with sugar until they're light and frothy before pouring coffee over the mixture, creating a rich, smooth, custard-like coffee that's unlike anything I've had before. A huge thank you to Shawn for being so welcoming! He gave us amazing recommendations, was incredibly kind, and made our first visit even more enjoyable. My brother ordered the crab cake benedict and my sister got the strawberry pancake stack. The portions are so big, we couldn't finish any of our meals. Let me start off by saying what a cute café this place is with a lot of seating indoors and outdoors. We arrived around 9:45am and it was already packed. When you arrive you place your orders with the front host and they give you a number and get seated. Diff but seems to work. Our meals were brought out within 10mins which was very fast considering how busy they were. They have a huge menu section. My waffles, scrambled eggs w sausage were fantastic and flavorful. Waffles were light and crisp even with all the toppings it tasted amazing. My friend's was delicious and savory. Our drinks were great just with enough alcohol. The wait time wasn't too bad; we were on the waitlist for less than 10 minutes. Once your party is called in, you order and pay for the meal first, and you just find your own seats. I ordered the Santa Barbara Burger with the sauce on the side. When my meal first came out, I was surprised by the generous portions. To start off, the burger was just alright; the patty was a bit dry and had that tough chew to it as it came out well done. Usually, when I get burgers, I get them on the medium/medium rare side. The salad was good and refreshing, but I would say it was more on the vinegary side. So if you don't like it too vinegary, you might want to ask them to hold the dressing. We came on Sunday afternoon close to 1pm and waited about 30min for a party of 4. We were offered to sit outside. The restaurant itself was cute and you can't really see the outside patio standing at the entrance. They had asked us to order and pay before sitting down. I personally didn't enjoy that, especially visiting for the first time and not knowing what they have to offer so it was quite a bit of pressure to look at the menu and order. Also, when we walked to the outside patio, it was full of flies. However, it's quiet and relatively spacious. Let's talk about food, we ordered quite a few things and it was amazing. The popcorn chicken stood out. Also, the country potato on the Benedict and omelette plates are delicious. I haven't had country potato that good, it was crispy, fresh, and well seasoned. The crab cake on the Benedict was so light and aromatic. I really enjoyed it. The apple cinnamon French toast was perfect for fall season. The warmth and oaky flavor from the cinnamon worked really well with the apple puree. I love the crunchy honey comb crepe too. The honey comb candies are tricky to make, similar to dalgona candies. And this was smoky yet perfectly sweet. Added very lovely texture to the crepe. Lastly was the pulled pork omelette, it was still good but the other entree stood out. Overall, all dishes came with huge portion and all are delicious. It's just a popular spot so there could be wait times and outside seating may be a bit untidy.
