Finally got to try this viral brunch spot. So let's see if their pretty good eh or ew. They just opened another location in melrose and I got their green tea latte, special and new ube French toast, bacon jam burger, and kimchi butter fried chicken eggs Benedict to try. I got my friend their ube latte and they really enjoyed it. The green tea latte had strong green tea flaves and wasn't really sweet. The ube French toast was topped with some blueberries, had a crispity crunchity exterior with a fluffy soft custardy interior and ube filling. Didn't taste much like ube but was still very yummy. The bacon jam burger had a soft pillowy buttered bun, sweet Caramelized bacon jam, a sunny side up egg, gooey cheese, meaty juicy patty that did need some seasoning not gonna lie, and bitter arugula. I also got it with a side of their yummy sweet potato fries. The kimchi butter fried chicken eggs benny came with a side of a fresh leafy vinaigrette dressed salad and some not bad country potatoes. The benny itself had a super soft fluffy English muffin that soaked up that rich kimchi butter, crunchy fermented kimchi, tender crisp fried chicken cutlet and perfectly poached egg. Fried chicken Benedict is a must! First time coming here with my wife. Wait wasn't long, about 15 minutes. Came around 11am on Friday. Inside has a nice vibe. Very clean and spacious. The servers were really nice and accommodating and the food came out really fast. My wife and I shared the Fried Chicken Benedict and the Ube French toast. The Fried Chicken Benedict was perfect! We got it mild because my wife can't handle spicy. The fried chicken was crispy and so juicy unlike other places where it comes out soggy from the coleslaw and sauce. Ube French toast was pretty good. For me it was a little heavy. Flavor wise it reminded me of deep fried carnival desserts with a ube filling. Probably better to order this if you plan on sharing with a few people. My only complaint is the ube latte. For our drinks, the mango iced green tea was refreshing and refillable (awesome) and the potted plant latte was super cute and glad it tasted pretty good. I know it's not intentional, but I noticed that bigger table (6 patrons) had arrived after we did and they received their food very shortly and all at the same time. Not digging that. In any case, my food finally came & the anticipation was tingly. It's the best part, the toasts were crispy crunchy on the outside & moist on the inside-- so good! Well balanced sweetness, I had control over how much ube condensed milk was poured- that's a plus. Been my first time in a while at this location and I'm pleased to say it's just as good as I remember. - Fried Chicken Kimchi Eggs Benedict: Sometimes restaurants just pile on random ingredients and hoping they meld together. We've tried this location a few times and sampled a few Benedicts. The Nashville Chicken and Crab Benedicts were my favorites (juicy and flavorful), even though the Nashville chicken wasn't spicy. The Norwegian Smoked Salmon Benedict, however, was a miss (kind of fishy and bland.) For dessert, the Toffee Banana Crepe was excellent, with crunchy cereal topping and delicious toffee. Let me start off by saying what a cute café this place is with a lot of seating indoors and outdoors. We arrived around 9:45am and it was already packed. When you arrive you place your orders with the front host and they give you a number and get seated. Diff but seems to work. Our meals were brought out within 10mins which was very fast considering how busy they were. They have a huge menu section. My waffles, scrambled eggs w sausage were fantastic and flavorful. Waffles were light and crisp even with all the toppings it tasted amazing. My friend's was delicious and savory. Our drinks were great just with enough alcohol. Staff were supper helpful and friendly. Parking on Main Street can get pretty full but since we got there so early we parked in the garage. The restaurant itself was cute and you can't really see the outside patio standing at the entrance. They had asked us to order and pay before sitting down. The warmth and oaky flavor from the cinnamon worked really well with the apple puree. I love the crunchy honey comb crepe too. The honey comb candies are tricky to make, similar to dalgona candies. And this was smoky yet perfectly sweet. Added very lovely texture to the crepe. Lastly was the pulled pork omelette, it was still good but the other entree stood out. Overall, all dishes came with huge portion and all are delicious. It's just a popular spot so there could be wait times and outside seating may be a bit untidy. Four years ago, I wrote a review of this place and I still stand by it - the consistency *sparkle*. I stopped by popping yolk despite remembering not being a fan of their Benedicts. I didnt remember what I wrote in my previous review but upon my new visit, my thoughts continue to be the same: the California omelet was fine - anything is good with ketchup - and the potatoes were very crunchy and nice to pair. The star was definitely the Ube pancake - nice and soft without being overly soggy with the Ube scoop, drizzle, and whipped cream. I'm not a huge sweets for breakfast gal but if you are I would highly recommend eating the sweet brunch options here! When my friend asked me where we should go to brunch in Alhambra, Popping Yolk came up in my feed. And not going today, I'm wondering why this is my first time trying this awesome place. I knew exactly what I wanted, which was the mango green tea (it's refillable) and the Crab Cake Benedict. My friend ordered the Strawberry Stack, which looked amazing. I liked my Crab Cake Benedict. The poached egg on top was perfect, the crabcake was light and crispy, and the hollandaise sauce mixed together with the muffin... so good! The only thing I wish is that the crab cake was made with real crab instead of imitation crab meat. The mango green tea had just the amount of sweetness and mango flavor. And definitely a plus that it's refillable. The service was amazing, lots of check-in to see if we need anything or needed a refill. They were warm and very friendly. The place definitely gets packed around brunch or lunchtime, but the turnaround is pretty quick. I can't wait to come back with my other friends so they can try this amazing place as well. You order at the counter at the front first and then they give you a number to take to your table where they will bring you your order. I ordered the Norwegian Benedict ($19.95). Eggs benedicts are my go-to breakfast item and these did not disappoint. The yolks were runny as they should be and the English muffin was perfectly toasted. The country fried potatoes that came with it were so nice and crispy on the outside but still soft and pillowy on the inside. The salad was okay, I wasn't a big fan of the dressing but I didn't dislike it either. They were constantly checking up on us and making sure that our coffees and waters were filled. Everyone was so friendly and made sure that everything was made to our liking. I think this is one of my favorite spots for breakfast in the area so far. Yes, it was a tad bit on the sweeter side, (didn't need syrup) but it was really, really good. Everyone loved it. Parking is plentiful around the restaurant. We order the kimchi omelette and pulled pork Benedict, both were wonderful! Love their large portion size! For under $20, I think this place offers great values! I also try their Horchata latte and it was great! The atmosphere is very casual and friendly to large groups. Good size dining hall so even when it's near full, you would not feel crowded. I didn't like how only part of the outdoor seating area was covered with umbrellas. It got really hot really fast sitting outside. I think I got a ham, avocado benedict plate that came with a side of tiny potatoes and small salad. Their portions are really big even for the menu items where you can just get half the amount.
