I went to Miniluxe for the first time last night and absolutely loved it! I was there for a Yelp event and got a color refresher on my nails. I picked a beautiful rose gold color that had a perfect shimmer to it. It was one of their "dazzle dry" polishes that are similar to gel in which it lasts longer and if it chips within 5 days, you can go back and they'll fix the polish complimentary. It's easy to take off unlike gel. It was comforting to know that Miniluxe nail polishes have gotten rid of 5 harsh chemicals that are in most nail polishes. They also have great ventilation so it didn't smell like acetone in there like most nail salons do. I also loved how clean it is in there. They have a "clean lab" where they clean all their products three times and it's hospital grade cleanliness. I can't wait to go back! read more

My experience at Mini Luxe itself was fine. It was clean and everyone was very nice, my tech did a good job with the painting of my basic manicure. HOWEVER, when I got home my nails started to chip while I was baking. I figured it was from the baking. Then, the next morning I was peeling a piece of tape off a package and half of my polish peeled right off on one nail!! Shortly after I was peeling an orange and the polish on one whole nail peeled right off! Never in my life have I had a manicure that hasn't lasted for 24 hours at least. I had just gotten engaged and was incredibly disappointed that I had to take the rest of the nail polish off and paint my nails myself. I don't think I will be returning to MiniLuxe as I would rather save my twenty dollars and go somewhere with a better quality manicure. read more

I scheduled an appointment for an eyebrow wax at 11:00am last Saturday. Due to the immense traffic from the Sox game at Fenway I was running 5 minutes late. Instead of calling me to tell me that they wouldn't be able to take me for my appointment, when I entered the building a woman pompously informed me that I was too late. Her passive aggressive attitude was so blatant and her tone was condescending. Instead of helping me to schedule another appointment later in the day she pawned me off to another worker who was on the phone. The next available appointment was at 3pm so I made the trip for nothing. Mini luxe has been nothing but great in the past and it disappoints me that I had such a negative experience. Maybe the woman was having a bad day but it seemed very unprofessional. I also would've appreciated a phone call or a late warning when booking my appointment before ubering to Fenway. read more

I visited this location recently for a pedicure. As someone who over-pronates and is flat footed, the insides of my feet develop large and painful calluses, especially after working out. I've visited "mom and pops" salons around the Back Bay area in the past but was often put off by the lack of cleanliness and poor service. So a friend recommended I give this a try. I was greeted with a warm and pleasant reception upon walking in, and was quickly shown to the station where I'd get my pedicure. I was pleased that I didn't have to wait for my appointment to begin, especially given it was a busy day for me and I was short on time. When I sat down, the technician took time to ask about my specific needs and even gave a few pointers on how I might be able to help reduce calluses in the future. I've had a few terrible experiences with hygiene of salons before (nail infection) so it was comforting to see the technician remove clean, sanitized tools from packaging before beginning. She did an expert job of reducing my calluses - a tough task that other places have failed at. Instead of a few scrubs of a pumice stone, I felt like I actually got what I paid for. The attention to detail was not lost on me. Both the service and the quality of the store and stations seemed well thought out: much more of a luxury experience and much less like going into a shoddy Newbury street basement that looks like an old storage closet re-purposed into a business. I had never tried Miniluxe before so I decided to give it a try yesterday. I'm giving it 2 starts because it was clean inside and the two front desk girls were extremely friendly and gave a great explanation of services. Other than those 2 factors it would get zero stars. Overall, I'm not impressed and I will not return as their prices are not only more than other local competitors but because 24 hours later and I have a chip. And I got the performance polish manicure where I was told it would "wear like a gel and last about 2 weeks." If it had made it one week I would be ok but one day? Not acceptable. I can do my own nails at home and the polish won't chip for 3-4 days. On top of that, the girl who did my nails wasn't the most professional person. She got up to check her parking meter mid-manicure and then told me at the end that I can wait 5 minutes for the polish to dry, I'm all set and then walked away. When you pay top dollar you expect to be amazed with the service and to have a manicure that lasts. With the number of nail salons in Boston, many of which I have tried and paid less for better service, Miniluxe needs to seriously step up their service and products. read more

I NEVER get pro manicures. It's just not something I do, so I'm never sure what to expect. Grace at MiniLuxe was wonderful. She gave me a fabulous gel manicure and was kind, attentive, and very customer-focused with regard to what I wanted (two vs. three coats; nail shape, etc.) The front desk staff were friendly and professional. Highly recommend this MiniLuxe outpost. (Also great to know that the company itself seems pretty ethical--they offer health insurance, a 401K, a living wage, and offer a safer product line.) read more

I don't typically write bad reviews, I usually contact the company first. I tried twice, and emailed MiniLuxe and neither time did I receive a response. The technician was nice, my nails looked fabulous....for about 12 hours. This is the second time they have started to chip within 24 hours. I have had cheaper manicures that have lasted longer. Very disappointed. I work in an office. I did the dishes with gloves on, I have been very careful. Won't be returning. I will stick with my neighborhood nail salon. read more

This place is way overpriced. I only go here when I'm really desperate since I live in Fenway. But I literally pay as much for a regular pedi alone here as I do for a GEL mani + regular pedi at my usual salon. Absolutely no difference in quality, guaranteed. The only thing is that it looks glamorous and clean inside. Another thing I absolutely hate is that they force you to make an appointment, except I'm never seen at my actual appt time. They are usually only 5-8 mins or so late, but it's unacceptable if an appointment is required. I also expect to be seen on time if I'm paying that much. Lastly most staff are NOT friendly - the only time they smile is when they're checking you out and are asking for a tip. Speaking of which, it's highly awkward being asked how much tip you want to leave. Honestly, considering their prices, they should be paying their workers more instead of having them rely on tips. read more

When I walked in the door I was greeted by Emily, who put me at ease and made me feel immediately like I was in good hands. I was impressed by the relaxing, spa-like environment and the helpfulness of the staff, who seemed to genuinely enjoy being there. Things I Loved: I was served a delicious lemon tea in a paper cup while I chatted with Emily-- I thought this was especially considerate and I could tell they make hygiene and cleanliness a real priority by using recyclable paper. Ari was amazing-- I got an eyebrow tint & wax and a bikini wax. She made something that could potentially constitute as torture into a nice, relaxing experience, she took her time with the wax and made sure I was comfortable and happy with all the results. She is very, very thorough and a true professional-- I absolutely trust her with some very delicate areas, she understands the importance of a good brow and worked with my natural shape to achieve awesome results. The total cost of all the treatments was affordable, I tipped 20 percent and still wasn't phased considering (a) how cheap I am generally and (b) how lovely everything was. When I told Emily about how my skin tends to be a bit sensitive around the brows as they heal, she gave me a little sample of some healing cream for free and sent me on my way. 10/10 will definitely go again, Fenway is a bit out of the way for me but I'll be making the trip to come back for the same treatments. read more

Especially considering last time I was there they tried to put someone in before me and waited 10+ minutes for my last schedule appointment. I'm very glad that this nail salon has opened in Fenway and am surprised by the negative reviews. I've been to this location of Miniluxe several times and have always had a great experience. The salon is VERY clean and bright, booking services is easy, and the staff are always very friendly, professional and careful. I wouldn't say that any of the manicures I've gotten here have lasted longer than normal, but I also haven't found that they've chipped more quickly than other places. The free gel is a nice perk. This place is definitely more expensive than the average nail salon, but the cleanliness and quality of service make it a worthwhile treat IMO. read more

Very disappointed with my recent pedicure here. Not only was it very expensive, but the service was poor. The technician took me to the dryer, left me there, and told me when my nails were dry, I should apply quick dry nail oil MYSELF, remove my own toe separators, and put on my sandals without help. There was no concern about smudging. She then rushed off to her next client, I presume. When I informed the manager, she was very polite but said this was their standard and it's important that the manicurist give all her attention to only one client at a time. Hogwash. Luxury price without luxury service. I'm back to my cheaper, more competent and attentive salons. read more

I've been a couple times and haven't had any issues, but went there for an eyebrow wax yesterday and my eyebrow was burned...now it is red, swollen and scabby and looks much worse than when I went in :( Won't be doing that again. read more

The space is really nice and clean but their nail polish is cheap. Less than 48 hours after my manicure it was peeling off (not normal chipping but full nails' worth coming off in one sheet). Was hoping to have my nails done for Christmas but apparently lasting 3 days is too much to ask for. read more

Though my work, I got a coupon for a free signature manicure (usually $20). I came in during the opening. The space was very clean and comfortable, the staff was pleasant, and the experience was nice and relaxing. However, within 24 hours, the polish began peeling off in large strips. (It never chipped, just peeled off). And, all of it was gone within 2 days. As a result, I would be hesitant to come back again. read more

Previously wrote a very positive review. Went back in this past Saturday afternoon for a mani pedi. By Monday evening, 53 hours post-mani, 6/10 fingernails were chipping badly. I called and left a voicemail after closing hours and they called me back first thing Tuesday morning and booked me for a chip fix. Everyone was very pleasant and they redid the nails, removed the old polish and put on new polish. 23 hours later, it's chipping again. This is ridiculous. I was very gentle on the nails since I wanted them to look good longer. I'm wondering if it may just be the signature level manicure polish. Seems to be garbage. Previously had the upgraded "extra durable" polish and it stayed on for 2 weeks without chipping. However, Mini Luxe is already substantially more expensive than other nail salons and you should NOT have to upgrade an extra $10 on top of an already $20 manicure just to get polish that lasts more than 3 days. I went here for the time for an eyebrow wax. Loved that you could book a service online - very convenient. The check in process was great and the place was very clean and had a nice positive atmosphere. I was taken back to the brow bar - you sit in stool as opposed to lying flat. This was new to me but overall wasn't an issue. The technician was friendly, quick and did a great job. The only reason for three stars is the prices. All other salons I've been too are cheaper and have been just as good. I will go back as it is very close to work and be able to pop in during lunch. read more

I went for a Signature manicure on a Saturday. It was not as busy and I was attended to very quickly. There is no doubt that this place has great ambiance and is very clean compared to other manicure places I have been to. However, my nail polish started chipping off the following day i.e .Sunday and by Thursday it was completely gone in some of my nails. I was hoping it would last for a week atleast. I work right next to this location and decided to give it a try after walking past it everyday for months. I finally caved and made an appointment for a gel manicure & pedicure. My first impression was great. Everyone was friendly and it was seriously beautiful inside with a good vibe. My pedicure felt amazing. The massage and just everything they do was the best I ever had before...until of course I left and noticed my feet were dry and I had a patch of dry skin seriously peeling off. That was on the DRIVE HOME. Immediately after. I brushed it off to me having dry skin, even though I have never had this problem before, ever. Then my manicure. If i was rating massage alone I would also say it great, but like the pedicure, this didn't last either. The next day I had a chipped nail. I want to stress that this was a GEL manicure. I also decided to brush it off, although I did hear that they'll fix it if you tell them but I've never had to go back to fix a nail and really didn't want to start now, after spending $20 more than my usual place. Fast forward to a week later (still not 2 weeks which is usually what they last) and i have 3 chipped nails AND chipped toe. I wear gloves at the gym, washing dishes, I take all precautions to keep my nails fresh so this is really absolutely ridiculous to me and I will needless to say, I will never be back. read more

I went to MiniLuxe for the first time to get my nails done for my graduation. I walked in and was able to get an appointment right away. Both girls working at the front desk were incredibly welcoming and helpful. The interior is so clean and modern, and I really appreciate the separate room where they sanitize their tools. I had a guy do my gel manicure (unfortunately can't remember his name, I think it started with a T!) and he was so sweet and when I mentioned that I was graduating he seemed genuinely excited for me and asked me about my plans post-grad. Without a doubt the nicest nail tech I've ever had at any salon in Boston. I've had problems with gel manicures chipping easily in the past, but two weeks later my nails still look perfect! He was very meticulous and did fantastic work in what seemed like a short amount of time. A couple of the other nail techs told me how much they liked my polish color as they were walking by - even the little things made the experience great and memorable. I went to get my manicure done a week ago at this location with Yasmari. I can't be any happier with the way I was treated and taken care of, and not to mention my nails look amazing and can I PLEASE brag about how long this nail polish has lasted on me. I am astonished to see the ONLY nail polish to last a full week and a couple of days without chipping. I mean, by now it just started to chip only on the corners and the very top. I am very happy and pleased as Yasmari also massaged my hands in a way I felt I was in heaven. Way to go girl! I can't wait until the next time I book my appointment and get both Mani and Pedi.
