    Gyro
    Sherry W.

I ordered the Gyro, which should consist of beef and lamb slices, topped with sliced tomatoes, black olives, red onions, feta cheese, and 100% Wisconsin Mozzarella Cheese, served with Tzatziki sauce. Well, it had several diced tomatoes, melted cheese that should have been feta crumbles, and tartar sauce instead of Tzatziki. It is on top of a thick, round pizza dough instead of pita bread. After taking one bite, it all went into the trash. They should leave the gyros to the Mediterranean restaurants. I will stick to their delicious pizza.

L Chicken Spiedini Sausage Pizza (missing green sauce)

We were recommended this place by some local family friends. We got a large Chicken Spiedini Sausage pizza to go. The pizza was tasty, however, it was lukewarm (less than a 10 minute timeframe from picking it up), so I actually ended up microwaving it, the green sauce was missing, and it was $28...

    Gluten-free Detroit Style Pizza

We didn't dine in so I can't comment about the ambiance or service here, but I will tell you this is THE BEST gluten-free pizza I have ever had--EVER. Most of the gluten-free pizza I have had starts with an Udi's crust, which is not great. But the Detroit style pizza from Minsky's appears to be made from scratch and it was incredible. I don't think anyone would even know it was gluten-free. This is going to be my go-to for gluten-free pizza from now on!

Big fan of Minskys restaurants in KC. Pizza is the best in town in my opinion and all types from a regular sausage pepperoni to their Mediterranean version. We have tried many different toppings, all very good. Been to Minskys for happy hours too and their apps, beer and wine is great. Today we tried this location on a last minute lunch run. I ordered a Mediterranean salad and we had the meatballs from the appetizer menu. It was all delicious. Husband got a wedge salad and he liked it a lot as well. Breads that came with each of these were all fresh and soft. The place has TVs for sports watching, comfortable, clean and lots of room! More room than what I thought from looking at it on the outside. Service was excellent and friendly.

Chicken wings with the buffalo sauce i didn't order on them

Came here to enjoy a family meal and ended disappointed all the way through the experience. The waitress was not on her game. Food came late and burned. The drinks weren't fixed accordingly to what was shown on the menu and had to have those sent back. The wings we ordered dry had buffalo sauce all over them. The egg rolls we ordered for appetizers never came out. We didn't even receive plates and silverware until we asked for them. Overall just a horrible and aggravating situation all around. Wouldn't recommend coming here.

    Prime cut heart shaped pizza

If you live or have ever lived in KC, you know Minskys is an OG! My sister took me on a sister date and it was perfect for us. It's a laid back intimate setting so it's perfect for spending quality time. There were a few other people there that night, so our waitress was very attentive. We ordered the pesto and cream cheese dip for an appetizer, which was absolutely amazing. You get to choose between breadsticks or pita chips, but we tried both. The breadsticks didn't carry the flavor of the dip well, so I'd recommend the pita chips, which were soft and yummy (I'd even recommend garlic pita chips). We ordered a heart shaped pizza (I believe it was called Prime Cut), and it was absolutely perfect. It only comes in a size medium which was more than enough for the two of us. There's a bar, parking was right out front, and so noticed that they have seasonal cookies.. I think it was caramel apple cookies when we were there! Highly recommend, if you've never been!

    Disappointing delivery

To me, Minsky's is continuing to slide on down the list of pizza spots in Kansas City, sadly. It was once an iconic spot but it's all but out of our rotation now. In fact, this is a bit of a farewell message to Minsky's overall from me. It's not all bad! The cheese is top quality, and I like the thick tomato sauce on their pizzas. The rest of the Minsky's experience is just OK at best. The pizza kind of tastes like generic pizza you'd have at a kids birthday party. Their delivery drivers are notorious for buzzing their way through the neighborhoods at, I dunno, double the speed limits while pretty much ignoring stop signs. The quality has dropped dramatically. I ordered delivery yesterday to give it one final chance and almost half of the pizza was missing cheese and sauce. I instantly realized I should've heated up a Costco frozen pizza because it would've come out better, and all told my Minsky's one was around $30. Even if it's made correctly, the crust is super puffy and flavorless, and there are constant issues with our orders, especially for the price. Better options around include Waldo Pizza and Artego, with further away options like Pizza Tascio, and Il Lazzarone being good ones to explore as well.

I will admit that I am biased when it comes to Minsky's pizza. I live in STL where their idea of pizza is a thin cardboard crust and provolone cheese. I am biased in the Minsky's makes THE BEST PIZZA; especially at the Main St location. I was there in 1975 when Minsky's opened and it sets the bar for great pizza wherever I have lived, been stationed at, or visited. Next to Naples Italy itself, Minsky's is by far the best; even if they have gone "gourmet", you can get a fantastic selection of fixings to satisfy your pizza craving. I like the crust with a substance to it that is smaller than Chicago and way bigger than STL thin crust cardboard.

Sadly, the overall visit was very disappointing. House salad was great, Sicilian garlic dip was great. Beef spiedini tasted charred and was overcooked enough to be dry. To make matters much worse, our waitress was not good. Would disappear for a 10+ minutes at a time. We saw the neighboring table's waiter over twice as often. Great upscale Italian atmosphere without making you feel like you need to pronounce every menu item with an accent. The menu has a nice variety, and our waiter was fantastic. He took the time to explain the dishes and even gave us a heads-up on which items took longer to prepare. I always appreciate the honesty--nothing worse than wondering if your entrée is being handcrafted by Italian grandmas in the back. The drinks were delicious and surprisingly reasonably priced. We did find out they have a happy hour at the bar...right after we missed it. Rookie mistake on our part! The lasagna absolutely stole the show. Rich, flavorful, cheesy, and worth every bite. If you're on the fence, order it. The appetizer was tasty but felt a little small for the price, so I'd probably save room (and money) for more pasta instead. Overall, I'd definitely come back to work my way through the menu. Next time I'll aim for happy hour, order another pasta dish, and try not to let the lasagna set unrealistic expectations for everything else.

Some of the best Italian inspired food anywhere. It's justifiably difficult to get a booking, as befits the best restaurant in Kansas City. Beautiful dishes in a great atmosphere. Start with the ambiance: it's usually busy in an enjoyable uplifting way. People watching is at a peak here as smart diners move between elegant and tasteful furniture while friendly, professional (and invariably handsome) wait staff glide through it all. If you recognize and appreciate good Italian design, this place will delight you before you've even glanced at the menu. Talking of the menu - it's a revolving tableau of Italian inspired deliciousness that will cause you to pause after each first bite - and look up at your dinner companion with a smile that says "wow"! Last night I had a lobster roll that defied gravity in its lightness. And the taste and texture was just perfect - what an appetizer! It was a moderate eating evening so I only had the pasta. A Carbonara of homemade thick noodle pasta with a deeply seductive cream sauce base. Paired both with a selection from the other great feature of Farina, its wine list. My selection was a minerally dry sparkling rose (I know, but trust me!) from the slopes of Etna. The wine selection is itself a wonderful experience - I'd recommend sticking with the Italian options - of which there are many, and they are quality examples some of which are rare finds in America. When you add great service and - as always - a brief check in from one of the two owners (he chef, she sommelier) you can round out a top level dining experience right here in KCMO.
