I've only been here once, and it remains as one of the top places I tell people on where not to go. For a "high end" restaurant they seriously lack in manners and hospitality. From the moment we sat down the wait staff was rude and impatient. We came for a birthday, and right when we sat down we were told that we had a 90 minute limit on the table - of which they reminded us not once, not twice, but three times. We ordered drinks and apps, which took time to come out. Then it took about a half an hour in between apps and our entree for our food to come out. I ended up switching seats with my partner during that time since he was sharing his entree with someone else. The waitress expressed that my changing of my seat was an inconvenience and sat at the table switching orders around on her device while the group sat quietly in awkward silence. Great atmosphere and an amazing aesthetic! I love the rustic vibes. On top of that, the food was unmatched! My partner and I got the ribeye with fries and truffle mac and cheese. I would say their sides are pretty mediocre; I could make better at home, but not the steak lol. Another thing I want to add that I wasn't really pleased with is that they serve alcohol at a halal restaurant. I get that there's a bar, but to serve halal food and also have alcohol is not my favorite thing. The crab macaroni and cheese was good, but I think they forgot my crab because I did run across any. The steak bites melt in ur to mouth. My friend got the exotic mushrooms that were not so exotic. They were just sauteed but would have been much better if they were roasted. Also she got the fried shrimp which were really good. Nothing wowed me for those prices. I had their signature drink, and it was the first I have ever been served a half glass for a drink. Ive heard so much about this joint. Specially from all of the foodie kids around the area. The modestly posh type of setting is definitely right up my alley. The house pinot noir was what i started with, the merlot is what i switched to right afterwards. Just because it was dryer than the Pinot, which was a bit odd to be quite honest. Lets do the food shall we. Mussels in Red: Definitely very good,, perfect acidic characteristics. Definitely a super strong appetizer. Perfect for bread dipping. Mussels in White: Savory and buttery,, ots totally eventful in the mouth. Dip the baguette pieces on it that's if they're not skimping hard on bread. Oysters: Light brine,, my friend loved it. I had one and its definitely the oysters for beginners. Not that its a bad thing. Tomahawk: $100 cut of meat was pretty good. The server did slice it up for the table. We ordered Medium, but it came out a little more on the Medium rare side which is good for me and the rest of the table, just not my friend who requested it to be medium. Plus the steak was very seasoned. Food was pretty good, drinks were pretty good as well, but service totally dropped the ball on this one. 3 is all i can muster for failing to even check up on the table at the least. We constantly had to grab someone aside from our assigned server to have us put an order in. Even trying to make eye contact with our assigned server, he was all super dodgy. They could have asked any other party to leave, however we were the only party of people of color. So of course this gives us pause for concern. We were headed elsewhere when we saw this restaurant from the road; a sharp turn into the parking lot and a short but brisk walk and we were here. The restaurant reminded me of a bank - there was something stately and formal in its architecture - maybe it was the dentil moldings? This architecture from the past blended nicely with the high ceilings, exposed ductwork, brick walls, and concrete floors that is de rigeur in today's restaurants. When I later checked its website, I learned that way back in 1929, Mint 29 was once a federal bank! I loved the bar and stark wooden communal tables filled with large groups, as well as the smaller tables that were more conducive to private conversations. We ended up at high tops, not my preferred seating, near the kitchen. But during lunch, the restaurant was quite full so there was little choice. The menu is eclectic. While guests can enjoy salads and sandwiches for lunch, don't be fooled by these general categorizations. We're talking beet, quinoa, and poke bowls for salads. We're also talking about Japanese and crab cake sliders and eggplant with watercress on baguette for sandwiches. I was very intrigued by the imaginative menu. And note it is a menu that does not forget vegans, either. I enjoyed the Poke Bowl with a generous portion of raw tuna, cubed beets, sliced cucumbers, arugula, and a carrot-ginger salad dressing. It looked like a modern version of the Cobb salad. I also enjoyed roasted baby carrots as a healthy side. This place is the most overpriced place I've ever been to given the quality of the food. I wouldn't mind the prices if it was actually good, but we ended up getting to Joe Muer after just because this place was so bad. I ordered the shrimp cocktail as an appetizer and that was actually pretty good. The cocktail sauce was the best part. For an entree I ordered a filet mignon with salmon and the exotic mushrooms on the side. The filet was butterflied, even though I requested for this not to be done, and the salmon was literally hard. Took my mom to lunch at Mint 29 a couple weeks ago. I've been here several times for dinner and it never disappoints. This was my first lunch and my mom's first time (she's a retired chef). I ordered an Arnold Palmer and it was delicious with fresh brewed tea and freshly squeezed lemon. I had the chicken dumpling soup which was creamy with just the right amount of chicken and dumpling. For my main course I had the delicious airline chicken. It was served with broccolini and roasted carrots. The carrots were perfectly cooked-warm all the way through, a light char and still crunchy! My mother had the beet salad. For the most part she enjoyed the salad but was surprised it was almost all cabbage. She expected some additional greens. Everything was fresh and the ingredients were well balanced. I wish I remembered our server's name because she was fantastic and patient with us as we asked a bunch of questions. The lunch prices are very reasonable. Having been here for dinner several times, I know the prices might seem high, but every bite is worth it! read more

The Management does NOT care if your food is not to your liking. I ordered Sea Bass and it was overly crunchy on the outside, the serving size was small and for $48.00, I expected much betterl. The side of spinach was so salty it could not be eaten. , my food was not hot. The other people in my group ordered Steaks, one Strip and one Filet, both were very good. We ordered bread with a few tiny bits of spreads, a feta dip that was average at best, and another one, we all ate the requested butter on the small serving of reheated mini loaf and none of us liked the tablespoon of spread served with the bread -the dry reheated Mini loaf of bread was $8.00 or $9.00. You can easily spend $100.00 per person without beverages for the food portion, Share portions of sides were about $10.00. The seating was at high top tables on hard stools, not what your would expect. There are too many good restaurants that value your business as a customer to go back to this OVERPRICED AND AVERAGE restaat best restaurant for the price point. The most disappointing aspect of the meal was making the genreal manager Nick aware there were some disappointments, I wanted to talk to him but we were limited on time so I had to leave. Nick gave me his card with his email and after several calls and multiple emails he was obviously not concerned to provide a short return email or a phone call I requested several times. His time is valued much more than yours- Do yourself a favor find a good steak restaurant that provides genuine customer service who values you and not just your money. I've been wanting to try Mint 29 for a while. The 20% discount for Dearborn's Shop Small event provided the perfect incentive to try it for lunch. I've been reading rave reviews in the Nextdoor app so I've been looking forward to trying it. Lunch has fairly reasonable rates vs dinner, which is on the luxe end. But there are still lots of interesting and great choices for lunch. I ordered the slider trio, while my dining companions ordered the burrata sandwich and the eggplant sandwich. All the lunch items come with a choice of fries, salad, or soup. We all went with the soup (French onion and tomato basil - the soup of the day) and were happy with our choices. I would come back for the soup alone. Both were great. The tomato basil was rich but light and tasted like it was filled with fresh tomatoes. The French onion had a nice mix of croutons and melted cheese and a slightly spicy flavor. Both soups were top notch. I was very pleased with the slider trio. Three exquisitely cooked mini burgers, that were literally like a perfect mini gourmet burger. The meat was even pink in the center (but not red) - when's the last time you've seen a medium-cooked slider? The topping were interesting - one had Asian bbq sauce, another had watercress and tzatziki sauce, while a third had a spicy mayo. All 3 were excellent but I probably liked the tzatziki one the most. Weekday Lunch. I was in a opinion that this place is not for herbivores (Vegiterians) and good for only dinners, I was absolutely wrong. This place was amazing. Food - They have couple of good vegetarian options. The eggplant sandwich, quinoa veg cake (Vegan) and Obviously some salad. The eggplant sandwich was amazing, flavorful, meaty and juicy inner with crispy baguette. served with olives on the side and option of either salad or Fried. I got the salad, I highly recommend their house dressing, splendid. I would just comeback for this. but next time I am going to try the quinoa cake. My friend had the chicken sandwich, he liked that as well. The décor is old train station kinds with exposed bricks and conduit, trendy and spacious, the wall décor with wine bottles perfectly match the scene. it would be nice for dinner as well. I sat at the bar, which was actually a bar and not a sports hangout (not to say that a sports hangout is bad). As soon as I sat down, I was offered a drink and had their Manhattan. First timer here and I would definitely come back again. I ordered the lamp chops with broccolini and asparagus, served with a creamy zip and a minty yogurt sauce. It was delicious and cooked to perfection. We started off with the calamari and the filet bites. The filet was cooked perfectly but the zip sauce accompanied with the bites had no flavor, neither did the meat. I honestly think they forgot to season it. We also ordered the smoked lox app which was very simple but good. The service was fine. While the server remembered everything, he never cleared the table. We had so many dirty plates on our table that just kept piling up. This was the biggest issue I had with the service. Also, it was a table of six people and when we were ordering the server stayed at the end of the table and we all had to scream our order out, including drinks. I will start my review by saying I have no idea how the food is only how horrible the service is. When we walked in, we were greeted by the hostess for the name of our reservation. When we said we didn't have a reservation she acted as though we didn't belong there. After getting us a table and seating us, we waited and watched servers walk by us and a manager who walked by three different times. During a period of about five or six minutes no one even recognized we had not been greeted at all and we chose to leave. As we walked past the hostess who originally greeted us at the door she said "Have a nice evening". We were not happy about that even though she was completely unaware (but should have been). This is not an inexpensive restaurant. We left, went down the road to Ford's Garage and got superior service while we ate a sandwich and burger. We will not return to Mint 29 again! read more
