I ordered chicken and it was way overcooked and flavorless. I would've added salt, but I don't think it would've helped and besides that the waitress never came to ask if I wanted any. She delivered the food and never came back so I couldn't even let her know how overcooked and bland it was. when the waitress came to ask if I want a box, I said no that I did not enjoy the food at all and that it was overcooked. She didn't say anything except OK. On top of not having good food it was expensive and a 20% tip was tacked on, the service was not worth that nor was the food. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Guest in my party enjoyed their food somewhat but nobody raved about it. read more

After eating at Mint29, the best word to describe the experience is "Wow". I am old enough to have eaten at scores of fine dining restaurants and I would favorably compare Mint to any of them. The menu has a plethora of "starter" options and a nice mix of beef and seafood entrees. We went entirely seafood. The oysters (East Coast) were incredibly fresh, briny and delicious. I would have liked a mignonette sauce option but the cocktail sauce was excellent and the option of fresh grated horseradish was appreciated. The mains were outstanding. The miso Black Cod was cooked perfectly and the miso based sauce was excellent. The Dover sole stuffed with crab was equally wonderful, the crab stuffing was not too heavy. Finally, the crab Mac and cheese was one of the highlights of the meal. Our server was was young but knowledgeable and efficient. A few observations. There are many high top tables (I have no idea why new places are fascinated with uncomfortable high tops). If you don't want to sit at one mention it when marketing the reservation. The floor of the restaurant is also uneven and you may have an unanticipated rocking chair. However, none of this detracted from calling it my Metro Detroit restaurant of the year (thus far) read more

I've been to Mint 29 more than I can count. I had my graduation party here which was such a great time. We didn't sit in the private are since the party wasn't that big but I've been upstairs for pharm rep dinners and that area is very nice and secluded. Service is top tier. Everyone there has been so nice each and every time I've been there. Food is delicious. Even something as simple as their salad is so hearty. I love the salmon and the appetizers. I've never tried the steak, but everyone usually goes nuts over them. Definitely a nice place for professionals to have dinner. Whether we interview physicians or have someone coming in town, we often try to bring them here! read more

It was our servers first shift and she was the best part of the night. Super personable and very quick! She was by far the highlight of the dinner. The wine list wasn't great. There wasn't a Merlot or Zinfandel which is a bit odd for a place that serves $50+ steaks. The more well known labels like Opus and Cristal commanding $450+ a bottle, nothing in the way of middle tier. If you like wine this is NOT the place for you. The menu need a serious overhaul. We ordered 1/2 dozen raw oysters on the half shell. They were not fully shucked and the fork they provided really tore them up. They provided a half lemon, ok cocktail sauce and a small single serving of Tabasco. At $3.50 an oyster it was a let down. We ordered the tomato and burrata. The mixed greens were delicious. They didn't overdo it on the balsamic which was really nice. We got two large slices of underripe beefsteak tomato and a loaf of bread. It was all just kind of put in the plate as individual items and not as a well executed dish. For $18 I expect some good tomatoes! The Korean BBQ salmon was overdone which isn't uncommon, way too much of the quinoa veggie mix and it seemed more like filler compared to the very small portion of fish. The flavor was pretty good. The 8oz filet was tender and cooked perfectly. The pepper they used in the seasoning was very overpowering and the flavor of the meat was lost. The roasted garlic on the side was a great addition. The roasted potatoes we ordered will make excellent breakfast potatoes tomorrow! A dish broke while a staff member was walking to his table. It was a super hot cast iron skillet that fell. The MOD didn't lift a finger to help the staff. They was more interested in continuing a conversation with (friends?). Having worked in F&B this is a huge pet peeve of mine. Front of house staff shouldn't be eating or chewing gum up front either. $159 before gratuity was not worth what we got. read more

Was very impressed for the first time. Gotta say, this place is a little pricey, which I didn't expect coming in, but the food made it worth it. We were in town for a family wedding and took our cousins from out of state to dinner here. We were a party of 8 on a Friday evening at prime dinner hour. Excellent service, great meals all around - no one was wanting for a thing. Our family raved about the food, and we all returned to our hotel quite satisfied. Cool spot located right Downtown Dearborn. We ordered the Buratta Salad: Buratta cheese, beefsteak tomato, artisan greens, sun dried tomato pesto served with reduced balsamic dressing and fresh baked bread. Everything about this salad is amazing! The creamy buratta, sweet pesto, and tangy balsamic is perfect. Next, we ordered the Panko Style Crab Cakes from and they exceeded expectations! My favorite thing about these babies were the trio of sauces: Cusabi (cucumber wasabi), eel sauce, and horseradish aioli. Really unique, creative, and delicious! For the main course, we went with the Korean BBQ Glazed Salmon and it was delicious! Served over a quinoa power blend that was super healthy. Plus it looks so pretty. Service was good and the food was solid. A little on the pricier end and reservations are recommended. Great spot for a date night or if you want a nice place when going out with friends. Location is great, you can walk around Dearborn and grab a coffee after. So many good coffee and dessert spots within walking distance. read more

Made a reservation for 2, was seated upstairs. Downstairs is nicer.. Ordered the tuna poke appetizer, was delicious. Ordered dinner. Found that when asking for an opinion from our server on any menu items she refused to have one. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, truffle Mac and each got the seared yellow fin tuna for an entree. Unfortunately we are both vegetarian and had no idea that Brussels sprouts meant they came with bacon. We were just told that was the special vegetable of the night. Would have been better to have been informed that it wasn't just Brussels sprouts. Then we ordered a second drink that never came. Then dessert, which took 30 minutes to receive. Most likely would not make the drive to eat here again. Very nonchalant service. Truffle Mac was delicious. read more

So, the food was good.... I wish our experience was better. I was hosting friends to celebrate a special occasion, made a reservation a month ahead. I requested a specific table, the female who took the reservation assured me that she made a note of it. I called the day of to confirm the reservation as well as the table requested, the gentleman assured me on the phone that I was on the books and repeated the request. I show up to the restaurant on time, not only was the table we requested recently seated, but we had to wait ourselves to be seated. I'm not a diva, but this was a special occasion and I EXPECT more from a "$$$-" restaurant. I could have gone to any number of other nice restaurants but chose Mint29.... yet no effort was made by management to leave a better impression. Free app for the table would have been nice...I would have settled for some lettuce. SLOPPY!!!! The kicker was I inadvertently paid full price for all the happy hour drinks, and the server said NOTHING... and he had ample opportunity, for we had lingered. This was my first time there, and I'm pretty sure I'm not going back. If I do, it's because I had no choice.... Raise your bar #Mint29!!! My boyfriend and I went here for dinner on a Monday night and had a great experience. Our server, Tristen, was extremely personable and knowledgeable. We ordered shrimp cocktail which had 6 enormous shrimp served with mango salsa, chimichurri and cocktail sauce. Next we had the season salad which was really well crafted with grapefruit, pistachios, blue cheese and a Japanese soy dressing that made you want to lick your plate. On Tristen's suggestion we ordered a ribeye which was cooked perfectly to medium-rare and came with roasted garlic and their own special sauce. Ordered the BBQ salmon with the side house salad and added a cup of the Swiss chard and lentil salad. I ordered a killer chicken sandwich to go on the 7 grain bread. I am excited since I have been wanting to go try this place out for months now. I sat at the bar since I always get great service there when solo. Laura was my waitress/bartender. Cool vibe and nice trendy interior. Laura is very attentive and very on the ball. The manager brought out my salad. The Swiss chard lentil is good, but tastes even better with a bit more pepper and a hint of Tabasco for me. The side salad is okay, the dressing is creamy and decent, but I tend to prefer and expect a true vinaigrette dressing over their mint29 vinaigrette dressing. The vinaigrette tends to be a better accompaniment for fish or the savory entrees to come. I also prefer if the dressing is already mixed into the salad when it comes to the table so I don't have to toss it myself at the table to get the dressing mixed if it already comes on the salad. The friendly manager told me my salmon was ready and asked if he should bring it out as I was just finishing up the last bites of my salad. I said please and he brought it out immediately. It looks delicious on the plate, though a bit off center on the plate to me. The do like to like adding the sauce and smearing it with a spoon for added effect, it's nice. Part of the skin was still left (I would either take it all off or leave it all on, not something in between) on the salmon and the Asian Bbq sauce but it's overpoweringly strong to me. I had to scrape some of it off the fish to eat it. The power blend is good on its own and without the BBQ sauce on it. Maybe a bit of soy or vinegar would cut down on the potency of the sauce some. I would have also liked to have been asked if I wanted my broccoli I cooked in butter, as I would always opt to have it without butter. The staff all seem to wear many hats here. I saw the hostess and the manager running out food. The sandwich took a bit longer or maybe it was because I had no food to occupy me while I waited? Laura knows how to read her customers well and knows what to say to keep impatience at bay. My husband enjoyed his Swiss chard lentil and really enjoyed his killer chicken sandwich, he said this place is good as he downed the second half of his sandwich. The manager brought out the carry out food to me. I have been serviced by the manager often this visit. He is very hands on, I like it. We have a winner for sure. This place has potential to easily be a five star restaurant but falls short in a couple critical areas. They get credit for having a really nice layout inside and out. The setting is very conducive to enjoying a nice dinner with a loved one or friend. Based on MY experience they started to fall short with the waitstaff. Upon finally being greeted at the table I cheerfully responded that I was really happy to be there and that I've heard great things about the restaurant and look forward to the experience. The waiter responded in a robotic way at best but actually seemed like he was having a bad day. I had a connectivity issue that kept me from uploading the QR code menu and he flippantly said he'd bring back a paper menu (never did) but I was able to use my wife's phone to look at the menu. I asked for their guest WiFi password and he gave it to me 10 minutes later. Our meal arrives and my burger was very good and cooked the way I like, my wife's steak on the other hand was served rare (bright and deep red throughout most of the meat) even though she ordered medium/well (should have light pink center). Waiter seemed to be out of it and I'll be honest I kinda felt bad for him even though I tried to keep it light and an easygoing atmosphere he managed to kill the mood with his frown. I'm not blaming him for the wifi or how the steak was cooked but he didn't help matters with how it was handled. He offered to take the steak back after I asked him to tell me how done he thinks it was and he acknowledged it was very rare but again, he seemed very annoyed. These were just a couple of issues I had with him...just a poor vibe all together. Check out my other reviews and you'll find that I'm a fairly lenient grader and willing to forgive a few things but there were mistakes made throughout this dinner that can't go unchecked. If I'm paying top dollar for a dinner I expect good service and a meal prepared to the customer's liking. They went 1 for 2 on the meal and 1/4 on service and it's a shame because I really wanted to like this place. Definitely not worth the $$$ I paid. Came here with my mom and sister for my moms birthday. My mom had one of the specials with shrimp and pasta. The shrimp wasn't peeled and they were cold along with the pasta and barely had any sauce. My sister had the filet it came out on a huge plate without anything else on the plate. It was well rested and that meant it wasn't hot. My dish was lukewarm at best. Came on Friday for restaurant week and honestly, this place drew me in because of their steak options and reviews. When we sat down, asking for the restaurant week menu, the waiter, Mo, (who was awesome) informed us they were out of the prime rib option so we were forced to go with salmon or chicken. Honestly super disappointed, who runs out of "prime rib???" when its restaurant week! Thought it was a monetary issue more than anything but I cannot speculate. Appetizer was good, however, because it was restaurant week, the shrimp appetizer was literally 2 shrimp on a plate with greens. Flavor was there though. Just not enough to call it an appetizer more like a bite-etizer. Lol BBQ salmon was very interesting. Reviews on yelp state this combination is awesome but both of us were not as impressed as we'd hoped. Not sure i'm a fan of BBQ salmon. I had 2 beers and was able to pair the restaurant week price with the Yelp free beer offer, which was cool. The ambiance of this place is super trendy and industrial, which I like. I was willing to give Mint 29 a try outside of restaurant week, for dinner, but after reviewing the prices, I'll either come for lunch and give it another try or I'll just stay away and stick to the few steakhouses that I frequent that I know will not disappoint. read more

I was visiting the area and decided to stop in at Mint for dinner with a friend. The staff person greeted us and took our drink request and shared the dinner specials. Upon her return, I placed our orders. I requested that the steaks are to be cooked med-well. I was informed the steaks would be cooked on the outside but a slight tint of red on the inside. I then asked about having our steaks cooked well-done. Let's see, we waited 25 plus minutes for our meal. The steak that came with the surf and turf was over cooked - not well done. The mash potatoes were cold. I'm sure they were made earlier in the day and placed under a warmer to heat up due to the stiffness of the potatoes. My ribeye was chard but still slight tender n the inside. The mac & cheese was good but you couldn't taste the truffles. This was my third visit and my last. read more

It's hard for me to give 5 stars to anyone, but this place was pretty close. I went on a Wednesday night (on a first date). It was SO busy and bustling and LOVELY! The food was.. ok, I'm a snob, better than most? The Ceviche was WAY too acidic and only had 2 types of fish (a hearty cod and salmon), which is "classic" but BORING. The only texture was if it was shoveled to your mouth with the thin chips that sat sadly next to it. The only thing I tasted was LIME! They should have at LEAST brought us a shot of tequila! It wasn't terrible, but not ok if it's your first Ceviche experience. The wine list was TOTALLY lacking. One choice (label) per type, really? We ended up ordering the Lobster Tails and filet. Although my date requested just the proteins, we were forced to make our way around unwanted vegetables and an Au gratin that was basically SALT and POTATO... There may have been some cheese in there... at least I HOPE that was cheese! The temp on the meat wasn't bad. The lobster tails were about one minute away from over. We saved them though.. I am an animal lover! The company that I had was exquisite, so the food was the 2nd show. They were VERY accommodating, they even LOWERED the lighting for us!! Would I go back... Yes! I will have to say...finally! Excited to see nice restaurants moving into West Dearborn. The location is really nice and they have a private outdoor seating area. We loved the interior of the restaurant- very rustic and historic. The food was really good however, a little on the pricer end which would be fine but I didn't feel like the portions reflected the prices correctly. For example: my plate included two scallops it almost looked like it was missing the 3rd or it was forgotten. The steak was delicious but no sides included. Overall I think it's a great addition to the growing city. The food was pretty good too. read more

Wow. Just wow. Went here last night with business partners... and it is easily one of the best meals I had in a while. Food - Had some appetizers... calamari was my favorite... I know a lot of people serve it, but try it here... its worth your while. I also had the strip steak. It comes out with some cooked garlic on the side... which you smash all over the top... then a sauce that comes with it... Just wow. Fantastic. Ambiance - not too loud at all. We were able to have a great conversation with only occasionally having to strain to make out what someone was saying. The owner (Casey) came out and greeted our table personally. He's a exceptionally personable guy and I definitely hope his restaurant goes far. read more
