I arrived about 7ish to take a tour of the What's New in my Area!!! It did not disappoint! Is this place Something New?! A compliment to Downtown-Dearborn location?! Absolutely! Loved the Rustic and Hip Vibe of this new spot! From the time you walk-in its open appearance (from Table to High-tops and Bar-Side on the 1st Level), along with the friendly wait-staff grabs your attention. Hello!! Kamal S. was very happy to show me around -- to view their Cozy Lounging area on the 2nd Level (which will open soon); from what I was told - this area will be ideal for Us Appetizer and Sipping only patrons! Lounging expressions under one roof....They were thinking of me when they came up with this concept...ha, Yup!! Now, even though I did not stay for dinner at M29, I witnessed great food-dishes! Stopped by for lunch today. This place is pretty new and they've only been serving lunch for about a week. Decor is new and trendy, almost a little out of place for Dearborn...but it's nice seeing some new blood downtown. I didn't think much of the lunch menu options--few sandwiches, sliders, salads, and entrees. So I decided to order the Blackened Trout entree for $15. Who orders fish for lunch at a new restaurant...I do. Gamble paid off...because the trout was awesome! It was perfectly cooked, seasoned, and the broccolini on the side was delicious. Also got the final absolution on draft for $6 which was a generous pour, had to have my coworker help me finish it. This would be a good date spot or business lunch/dinner place. I was so excited to try this restaurant after seeing pictures on Instagram, but it was a huge letdown. The food looked beautiful, but the service was poor, the food was cold, and the drinks lacked alcohol. I am so sad as I am writing this as I was so looking forward to this dinner and I even drove 40 mins to get there. The ambiance was great, and the food did look good, but for a restaurant that charges $30ish for an entree it really just didn't live up to the hype. Where to start. The ambiance. Based on the prices, I expected the place to look much more upscale than it did. Many of the chairs were barstools that were poorly upholstered and tables were made of metal piping. It reminded me more of a small family BBQ joint on the inside than a place where the steaks are $50+ The waitstaff were friendly and the service was good. The prices were not reflective of the ambiance of the place or the quality of the food that was provided. One person ordered a medium-rare steak and the steak was grey. Another person ordered a rare steak and it was medium. For the prices of the steaks, they need to be cooked to order. I had the burger. It was fine, but at $25 it was a little steep. The server was able to remedy the problem with the steaks, but two of our diners had to wait while their steaks were remade. So while the service and drinks were good, I feel the ambiance and quality was lacking for the price you were paying. read more

One of my favorite steak places in the Detroit area, and I'm thrilled it's within walking distance of where I live. Dearborn was sorely lacking in terms of "upscale" dining, so when this place opened up last year I was eager to try it. I was blown away and have made many return visits since. On my most recent visit we ordered the tiger shrimp appetizer, followed by my go to order is a filet which comes with their zip sauce. I would have this zip sauce every day if I could. It is absolutely addicting and after finishing my steak, I'll use any remaining sauce to dip my fries in. (Highly recommend the truffle fries as well.) On previous visits I've also had the steak tips for an appetizer which were excellent, and you can't go wrong with ordering the tomahawk steak (can easily be split among 3 people if not more.) Service has always been top notch, never had an issue with the food. I've been meaning to check out some of the items on their lunch menu, which hopefully I can do in the near future. read more

My wife and I have visited this establishment a few times a year. We enjoy our meal. Truly walk out of here satisfied. We decided to come back last week (Thursday). We acknowledged they close at 10pm. We arrived at 8:15pm. Hostess extremely nice and sat us down quickly. Mind you I used the word quickly for a reason. From there on, we felt rushed the whole time. Okay got them...I ordered my steak medium. Came out medium rare. No big deal. I still ate it. My wife on the other hand. Ordered it Med Well. It came out Med rare at its finest. Scalloped potatoes were extremely nasty and dry! The broccoli app looked like it was chopped up and microwaved and slapped on my plate. I always order this and always had enjoyed it. So i called out our waiter. His response was "I've been here for three years and it's always looked like that". I said, I've been coming here that long and it has never looked like that. He basically got offended and literally snatched the plate away from the table and said "well then there's no need for this to be here it no one will eat it". I'm telling you. The service was off that night. The food was off as well. The atmosphere isn't the same anymore. Not my scene as it was loud and obnoxious. Sucks that I'm ranting like this. I finally got to try this 1 kg Tomahawk at Mint29 yesterday. The meat was very tender and quite tasty. They also made me a virgin specialty drink which I really enjoyed. The dessert was on par with the rest of the meal and was very enjoyable. The reason I gave them 4 rather than 5 stars is because I ordered the steak at a medium temperature. However, when the chef came to cut it for us, it was clear that it was rare at best. He apologized and quickly returned it so they could cook it properly, but I guess in my mind if I'm paying premium for a steak, I want it to be perfect. Re-grilling a steak after it has been cut into will never taste as good as the bite that was grilled perfectly the first time... Also, I realized later when I was looking closely at pictures from others and also after looking at the menu again that the steak was supposed to be served with a freshly roasted garlic and fresh rosemary. However neither of these were served. I truthfully didn't notice till the next day so it wasn't a big deal. The steak tasted great and that's all that ultimately matters. I watched other food items being served to others also and everything looked great. I'll definitely be back! read more

This place has a very Detroit vibe and is pretty cool. Check out their patio dining area as well. It is not by the road and is very spacious and pretty. We however are inside because it was a humid summer evening. Their food and drinks collection is great and everything tastes pretty good as well. The only reason I would give it a 4 is because of the price. I felt the prices could come down a notch. Overall I would go back there for their happy hour or to grab a drink or a fancy dinner. I came here for my birthday and had made reservations 3 days in advance over the phone. At the door I was told that they could not find my reservation and that I could wait for a table. See that it was pouring outside and few other options available nearby, I decided to wait. It took almost 25 minutes to get a table for two. After being seated with menus, there was another 20 min wait for an order to be taken. Some of the other things that give away this "upscale" restaurant as a casual diner is the disposable napkins that are used, the water pitcher that's left on the table for you to pour and the cheap feel the silverware has. If the prices were slashed at half, it might be worth a go once in a blue moon, but at almost 50 dollars a steak, it shouldn't be hard to ask for some level of service. Drove past this place everyday and finally tried it, and it did not disappoint! We started with tuna poke and it tasted so fresh and could tell the fish was great quality. We sat at the bar and had amazing service our bartender gave great suggestions and was very friendly! We overheard they only had one ribeye left and our bartender was able to reserve it for us! The char on the 16 oz bone in ribeye was excellent, it had a very smoky earthy flavor. We got a side of mushrooms with it and you get more than you would need! We show up at our reservation time and we didn't have a table so the hostess tried but But all the open tables were for 2 and we were 4 one particular table was the hold up. But ok no problem 30min later waiting still the hostess tells us to If we would like to go up stairs to the lounge and wait for another table at this point I was pretty upset so was my party she offered us comped drinks which was really nice of her so we accepted and waited about 15 min later our table was ready We were all so hungry. I was ready to order my $30 steak Dearborn restaurant week special only come to find out that they were OUT all I could think was are you kidding me now I have to spend double that just to eat call the manager over he says he can't do anything because the steak is basically pre packaged per weight and We get it BUT he said he's willing to give us another r round of drinks and free desert. So honestly they made a crappy night one of the best because I got my fav cut (bone in ribeye with a salad). Thank you to The manager and the hostess you guys truly made a negative a positive!! and also the waitress(Lena) who was awesome btw. Honestly this started off so bad but ended on such a positive note all due to amazing service from the manager hostess and waitress I can't remember the last time I actually felt like the staff cared at any place. Management does not ask to tone it down for the sake of other customers trying to have a nice conversation and a more elegant dinner experience. Oysters were good, just two were too small to be served. 1/2 dozen $21. I expect at least regular sized oysters. Calamari great. Chilean Sea Bass great tasting. Too small for a man's appetite. The filets were cooked properly, medium-rare, but dry. Entrees for 4 in our party, were not served at the same time. Side dishes which are alacarte were not served with entrees. Had to wait for side dishes. All sides were good, except roasted potatoes were too done and dry. Crème Brûlée a little burnt, only served with a couple blackberries, no strawberries or raspberries. My drink I ordered, they said on the 2nd drink they ran out of Bacardi, is another rum ok. I said yes, and they charged me an extra dollar, even though they ran out of the rum. We were already at $15. These are rookie mistakes at an expensive restaurant. $500.00 later, definitely not worth it. I had my mother's wake there, upstairs. What a beautiful place. Dearborn is overdue for a nice upscale place to go to and Mint 29 delivers. Slightly overpriced and bougie but I buy into it, it's got a nice vibe of hipster and classy (I am a sucker for exposed brick). The food is okay, I don't know if it was my appetite on this day or that I just didn't love it but I wasn't really able to get through my Zucchini noodles. They have a garden patio in the back which is super cute as well. They play instrumentals at low volume which makes it great for conversation. Overall, I definitely would go again for the ambience. I'm a huge believer that the way a space is arranged makes an impact on the experience and this time around, it worked for me. Here's to hoping that the food clicks better on round 2. read more

I ate here twice in their private space upstairs. Great drinks and great food. The first night was a limited menu and we chose our entree. There was delicious baguette on the tables with different spreads and a yummy garlic oil drizzled on the top. We all got a tasty, fresh salad to start. Everyone but two people chose the filet as their entree. My filet was perfectly cooked and had delicious flavor. It came with mashed potatoes that also had good flavor but were sadly hard as a rock. I think they were plated too soon. There were also some sautéed broccolini and carrots - very good. The second time I came we had a huge and generous buffet. They were serving salmon, chicken and slicing fresh prime rib. We also had the same yummy salad, roasted veggies and mashed potatoes. I tried the potatoes again and they were good! Prime rib was awesome and the chicken was juicy. I'm not a salmon fan but others seemed to enjoy it. For dessert, I had their key lime pie. IT WAS DELICIOUS - very tart and served uniquely in a ramekin with a generous heaping of light as air whipped cream on top. Major shoutout to Lauren - our server both nights. She was so friendly and easily handled big groups two nights in a row with a smile. She took care of making our drinks and ensuring we all had what we needed. She's awesome! read more

Finally, a halal steakhouse in Dearborn. I was skeptical because most restaurants in Dearborn tend to err on the side of overcooking meat. I got the ribeye. The quality of the meat was excellent and it was perfectly cooked (crisp exterior, deliciously tender middle, the included zip sauce and roasted garlic perfect additions. We got the tiger shrimp appetizer and that was also really delicous, the red seaweed salad on the side was a delightful and unexpected addition and I could have eaten a ton more of just that.
