This is a kind up out of the way diner. You can expect really good diner food. The service was outstanding. The panini and the onions were really good. The iced tea was also remarkable. Keep in mind, this is kind of a mom and pop shop, not a big franchise, so don't expect a franchise- like atmosphere. Be advised there is a three percent kitchen appreciation gratuity on all meals. Alright. I'm gonna stop narrating in the third person like a complete dork now and....tell you all how this quiet little diner earned a soft special place in my heart. So, I started things off with a tall, sparkling orange Mimosa. Why? Because I thought to myself, "Self, even though it's 11:54 in the morning and you're technically only on your lunchbreak, YOU, hard workin'....you deserve a drink. Or two. Let's go!" Anywho, I went with my all time favorite breakfast, the corned beef hash n' eggs, of course. Except....this one was a bit different. First, lemme just say that everything overall was pretty tasty. I especially liked the greasy spoon diner touch to the whole thing. Mostly. See, it's the texture of the hash itself that I didn't care for. Sure, it tasted just fine, flavor wise. But ya see, well....I prefer mine to be a bit more....minced. Like, this stuff WAS minced, to an extent. At least the whole thing didn't come out like a brisket (some restaurants actually do this). Look, it's obvious Minuteman Diner makes their hash from scratch, which is admirable. Now, at the risk of being metaphorically tossed out the window and losing my "Elite" card for being a total weirdo, I'm just gonna say it: I prefer canned corned beef hash. That's right, folks. Grab your pitchforks and torches, off with his head, blah blah blah. Menace likes the canned stuff. BUT....it's how you prepare it that makes all the difference. For example, while the Brooklyn Bagel House in Derry clearly uses canned hash, they pan sear it without burning or robbing it of its natural flavor, thus creating the perfect texture. It's tough to explain to people who don't really eat hash that much. But I didn't like this one nearly as much as the hash at BBH. So ultimately, the dish gets a 7 out of 10. Also, the bagels could have been toasted more and the cream cheese was somehow slightly bland. But, I digress. Luckily though, I shall return. When I do, I'd like to try (of course) one of their omelets. A caveat to the newcomers: this place is literally a greasy spoon diner. Update 3/2024 - I stopped in for lunch on Sunday. The restaurant was cold inside- Wear your jacket to eat lunch cold. We sat at the last open table... and waited. And waited. Eventually we ordered drinks and food. I ordered an Irish Benny with home fries. The Corned Beef as usual was great. The English muffin was also fantastic. The home fries were barely warm. I waited for a while for our server to check with us so I could ask for warm home fries... but no one came. Eventually another person came over to get me a drink refill. We asked for the check and left. When you walk in, there is a sign saying that menu prices may fluctuate given market conditions. Makes sense. Then when you sit down, there is a tiny line on the menu that there is a "3% Kitchen appreciation fee is added to all checks. Thank you for your support!" So a fee for cold home fries? ... it is not an option. Nice touch to soak us for more $$. I appreciate the little line entry on the menu to cover yourselves. Sorry Minuteman Diner, you lost me. There are better places that have heat, decent service, and hot food. My advice - move on. Super-impressed with the level of service and cooking at this place, we came here for brunch last weekend and the experience could not be beat. The food was exceptional, they know how to perfectly cook eggs over-medium which is not easy to do, and the hash browns were extra-crispy. Also love that they serve real iced coffee, some places just pour hot coffee over ice but you could tell that they kept theirs refrigerated and ready to go. It's the little details like this that I always appreciate, in addition to the welcoming and friendly staff. The prices are also very reasonable. We came here today (Saturday March 1st at 10:45ish) and the manager put our name on a list for the next table, and said it would be about 5 minutes. There was no one in line ahead of us. We waited about a 40 minutes and 3 groups were seated ahead of us. When we went to the counter to ask the waitress was incredibly rude. She had skipped over us on the list, and then just said we would be next. I asked to speak to the manager and was informed that she had left. The waitress then blamed the manager, all while never once showing empathy or caring about overlooking us. She never even apologize. She had a horrible attitude, was so rude, and should not work as a hostess. I don't understand why they would put such a miserable person as a greeter. Yikes! Beware of a restaurant that offers different pricing than the website. We were able to rectify the situation only to learn that a 3% mandatory tip is placed on the to-go order without consent. I hate to write my first negative review, but I have to after this experience. The prices on the menu are quite expensive for a diner, as written. However, as little signs in the restaurant tell you, they've raised all their prices without updating the menus, so you won't know how much your food actually is until the bill comes. Worse than the increased prices, though, was that when we got our bill we realized that they CHARGED US FOR TAP WATER. Yes, the 16 oz or less of water we had with our breakfast incurred a $1 charge. When I asked about this, the waitress told us that "Bedford raised their water prices by 7% last year." I looked up town water rates, and water and sewer combined costs $0.03 / gallon, so our glasses of water cost them well less than a penny. Just because there's inflation doesn't mean businesses have carte blanche to overcharge. In the end, my mediocre diner omelet with a bagel and glass of water cost over $18 (before tax and tip). I've recently paid less for brunch entrees at nice restaurants in the Back Bay, and I've gotten much better food at other suburban diners for less than $10. I grew up in Bedford and would love to support a local business, but for the quality and price of the food, I'm not going back to this one. read more

Finally a diner in our area! We came today and have honestly been waiting to come since it opened (Covid delayed our Visit) and it didn't disappoint! Diners....what's great about them? Comfortable environment, normal people, families dining and great food. This one has a booze bonus and a pretty great looking breakfast menu so we will likely be back this weekend. 4 of us flew into Bedford MA on a service flight. Never having been to the Minuteman Diner in Bedford, and after a recommendation of "good food" from a local customer see manager at the local airport, we decided to hit it a try. My "Classic Reuben" was served like-warm and the meat was definitely "off" - I tasted it separately after taking a bite and it tasted old and ransid. I have NEVER sent food back and decided to not eat anything, as i was no longer feeling hungry after that much of my food there. One other in our group ordered grilled chicken breast and broccoli. His chicken was dried out throughout, but tasted ok so he used some syrup that was on the table and ate most of it. Sadly, in spite of being low on customers, the service was also lacking (didn't provide lemon in waters even though asked when placing the order; she was not often present to ask for sauce for the chicken or for lemons - again...) It was more of the salty French toast type than the sweet one. My daughter had the pancakes. They were not fully cooked and they fell apart. Looks like something was off with the batter. As other reviews have boasted, it is nice to have an affordable eatery in the area, particularly one that serves breakfast/brunch and all day long to boot. You can definitely get a sizable meal for an extremely reasonable price. They even serve alcohol. The menu is long and has many choices. That said, the few times I've gone, the food has been "ok." Nothing to "write home about," as they say. It did the job. The first time I went, every single tables' order was taken before ours and we were the first to arrive. I had to demand someone talk to us and take our order. That took a half hour. Then, after ordering a waffle and breakfast sandwich, we managed to leave at about 1.5-2 hours after begging for the check. I went back a second time to see if the first was a fluke. We didn't have to wait all day but you could tell the staff was busy and somewhat flustered. I'm also not sure about their napkin, cutlery and condiment basket. Ours had open cutlery packets in it and a reusable ketchup bottle. I thought that was against the rules in COVID times?! read more
