No idea why this place is popular. First time we tried to order, there was some weird thing going on in the kitchen. Long story short: we had to give up, and went for Five Guys instead. Decided to give the place another chance, since a guy who does work for us loves it. I'll just start this review by saying that they actually charged us for a glass of water. With a lemon in it. Kind of thing a tourist trap would do. Not a place wanting return clientele. We were not lingering, splitting dishes, and noone was waiting for a table. We ordered two sandwiches, sides, and 2 beers. I asked for water first (having just returned from a trek in the city.) Waitress asks "Do you want lemon in it?" Me: "Sure." So "water with lemon" shows up on my bill. $1.50 is not a big deal, and I didn't say anything. But it is indicative of the ethos of the place. Food was okay at best. We had the Hot Pastrami & Swiss (excellent rye bread, lots of caraway.) Shy on the Pastrami. Liberty Bell Sandwich: fine, but, again, VERY shy on the fillings. Our order got confused, so we ended up with onion rings. Meh. French fries arrived later. Meh. Both rather indigestible. Not sure what kind of oil they are using, but probably the cheapest possible. No, they are NOT "the best fries around." Do your digestive tract a favor and do NOT order fries or rings. Our waitress was great, and we tipped her well. The ambiance was plastic chairs and picnic tables in a parking lot on main road. If the food had been better, we wouldn't have cared. (We were not overpaying for the "ambiance," if that's what anyone is thinking.) Bottom line: with several far superior options for similar fare (and far better value) within walking distance of this place, WHY does anyone eat at Minuteman? We will NOT be back. read more

Place looks beautiful. I am so happy to have thiS so close to my house. Went in on a week day for breakfast and had the Avocado cheddar sandwich. Everything was absolutely delicious. I'm looking forward to coming in for dinner as they sell my favorite 617 Hazy IPA beer on tap. Service was excellent . DONNA is quite a professional. One of the worst experiences I've ever had service wise. I was told 20-25 for my food, and still had to wait despite showing up 40 minutes later. I looked at the ticket time and it wasn't put into the POS until nearly 20 minutes after I called - 10:38 when I had called at 10:22. My girlfriend's order was missing potatoes and cream cheese (a bagel sandwich) as well. Also, several servers/bussers weren't wearing masks or weren't wearing them properly despite Bedford having a mask mandate. As a VA patient, I make my way around Bedford and enjoy it's establishments.. I went to the diner and ordered an omelet and some home fries. I wasn't upset at all about the omelet, in fact I thought it was great! However, the home fires were not seasoned very well, kind of mushy.. reminded me of the stuff served in the Ben Hai at the DMZ. I don't have enough great things to say about this local treasure! Their chicken broccoli ziti dish is well worth the calories and their staff is phenomenal. This is the first time I visited the Minuteman Diner since a pre-pandemic visit that left me unimpressed with the service but glad that the area had acquired an unpretentious casual eating place. This morning, I had a Sunday breakfast there: pancakes, bacon, coffee. It was pretty good, and the service was fine!! So of course this is not fine dining, but if it's diner food you want and a relaxing atmospher, they are clearly doing a good job! Only one thing struck me as unusual for this time period, and worth noting. Since vaccination, I've been eating out once again, like so many. In every other restaurant I have visited over the past few weeks, including another diner or two, the waitstaff have been masked and they have asked their customers to remain masked when not seated at their tables. The Minuteman Diner is a striking exception. None of the waitstaff except for one young woman wore masks, there is no mask request on the front door, and only one or two of the customers were masked. A cultural difference? No idea, but I sure hope all the staff and all the unmasked patrons were fully vaccinated. The pandemic is receding, but the virus is still circulating. read more

Been here once for lunch, twice for breakfast, and once for dinner. This review is for an early lunch. Truly outstanding experience from start to finish. Seated quickly and was immediately offered coffee by a very nice server. Coffee is an endless cup and it's great coffee. Very nice waitress brought the menu right after that and came back quickly to take my order (and provide first coffee refill). Food showed up in 10 minutes and was hot. Egg sandwich comes with two fried eggs, although you can order it with one, and with excellent home fries (see photo). The breakfast sausages are the best single thing I've had* - you should add these if they're not included. After a second coffee refill I was out of there with a ton of leftover home fries and sausage, all for for $11. Amazing. Other visits have had some delays on food and mistakes on service. They are working out the kinks. Stopped here on the way from the Logan Airport after a long 2 days of traveling. The owner and her son are very attentive and super friendly. They really know how to take care of their customers. The place was a very nice steady and the tables turned quiet nicely so no one was waiting for a while to be seated. I had the veggie scramble and it was wonderful. Displeased on many levels, but the glaring danger in this time of Covid is the staff needs safety and sanitary training. Everyone has different level of paranoia, my are generally low but I didn't like what I saw at all. The waitress was carrying glasses of water to the tables holding them by the rims! Ordered some takeout recently and I was not happy with my food. I ordered salmon with a side of rice. The salmon had no taste to it beside the charred/burnt taste from the grill and the rice was hard. Literally my rice was crunchy. Tasted like old rice from another day that they tried to reheat and serve. Won't order from this restaurant in the future. read more

Went for Sunday brunch yesterday for my first visit to this local restaurant that I had been curious about but had not yet tried due to the pandemic. I was hopeful that they would be on the same level or even better as some of the other breakfast spots in the area (Sweet Peppers, River View, Stelios, Belly Busters) but came away a little disappointed. I have to say that the staff was quite nice and friendly. However, the wait for food to come out of the kitchen was rather slow. Took about a half hour to get my breakfast order of eggs benedict. Additionally, they were out of my first choice of corned beef hash and eggs as they had run out of hash. How does that happen in a breakfast place? The eggs benedict were ok but nothing special. They put a small egg and slice of ham on an oversized english muffin that dwarfed the other components. The hollandaise was a little on the thin side as well. Home fries were ok but nothing special. I also thought it was a bit pricey with my eggs benedict ($12) and coffee ($3) and tax coming to a little over $16. With a tip I was above $19 which seems to me to be a lot for a breakfast for one person. All things being equal, I thought Minuteman was not quite up to par with the other spots mentioned above. Went to Minuteman Diner today for the first time. Although there was no sign on the door, after we sat down, we were told: the exhaust fan is not working, so, no hot food today - only cold food. Walked in and the "Wait to be Seated" sign was immediately visible on the right. We waited, and waited and finally got the attention of someone behind the register at the counter. Once seated we placed our drink order and that was it for a long time. Not once, but twice, a server came to deliver food to our table that wasn't ours - not only because we hadn't ordered yet but also because she didn't know where the tables were. They are numbered on the ends for the servers to see but they are fairly small stickers down low. She looked pretty frustrated both times. The table next to us - that was cleared and reseated after we sat - placed their order before we did. The server didn't acknowledge that we'd been waiting and that she'd taken someone else's order first. We eventually got our food along with a song and dance about a delay because the server had asked if the pastrami is boiled or fried, then apparently forgotten to put in the order. I had no idea why this was relevant since I hadn't asked how it was prepared. Both our meals were lukewarm (the Swiss cheese on my hot pastrami barely melted) and my order was missing the side of cole slaw. The table that had ordered before us received two of their meals , and the other two came sometime after. The server explained to the table next to us that there were problems in the kitchen and that's why their meals were delivered at different times. A third table, managed by the same server, also had problems with their meal. The entire time the server had a sour expression on her face. There was no drink list so no way to see what wines and beers are available. As others have said it's a fairly new place but given the dress rehearsals (aka soft openings) and prior restaurant experience by the owners I expected fewer bumps. Given the lack of attractive breakfast options elsewhere in town I imagine breakfast could be a gold mine for this place but if they have the same poor service and inattentive, miserable staff it won't matter. read more

I'm giving the place the benefit of the doubt because it is still in the "soft opening" phase. We sat at the counter for breakfast as soon as we walked in. The place was busy, but seemed to be sufficiently staffed. However, the staff was new and didn't know what to do (we could hear them talking, and complaining, a lot). We got our menus quickly, but it took about 30 minutes for someone to take our order (AT THE COUNTER!). There were staff members looking at us, but our waitress didn't come along for a long time. It took another 35 minutes for the food to come. Someone else at the counter arrived after us, ordered before us, ate, and left before our food arrived. Poorly organized. The breakfasts (omelettes, potatoes, toast) were fine. We got plenty of coffee refills, but had to ask several times to get water and for my friend to get his initial decaf. Better than average diner food, but not the best I've had. Other than complaining about how things were running, the staff was very nice to the customers. And, everyone was giving them the benefit of the doubt because it was so new. But, given that the owner has run other restaurants and they had been in soft opening for a few days, I expected things would be running better. I'd give it a few weeks before going back. They won't last if they can't get this ironed out. There is strong demand for this place as the restaurant was packed and people were waiting inside and outside to get a table. Maybe if the service was quicker they'd turn things over faster. From walking in to walking out was one hour and 45 minutes, and we were expecting it to be less than an hour. This place and its staff are great! I pre-ordered two turkey dinners for Thanksgiving. My [mistaken] understanding was that we were to pick the meal up on Thursday. I was upset to find out it was actually to be picked up on Wednesday. When my friend went to retrieve the meal on Thanksgiving, no one was at the restaurant, but a number had been left at the door. When called, the owner brought over the two dinners and even opened up the restaurant so my friend could purchase some carrot cake. It was absolutely above and beyond and I will definitely be frequenting the Minute Man! read more

Coffee was mediocre at best; I'd recommend the McDonalds across the street at half the price. The chicken entree had an odd taste, probably old, so I discarded most of it. I tried this restaurant several months ago and was not very happy with the outcome. I have been little learey of giving it another chance because it was such a horrible first impression. However last week I decided to give it one more shot and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! The service was great as soon as we entered the door we were seated and had menus and coffee within minutes. We ordered and the meal was in front of us in no time plus the waitress made sure our drinks were constantly filled and we had everything we needed! Family was visiting in laws and we decided to try this place out. We decided to eat inside as the temp was over 90 degrees and the humidity probably higher. But people were eating outside which we thought was a good sign. We went for lunch but all 5 of us ordered breakfast. The food was good and the portions were enough for two meals. The reason I gave 4 stars vs 5 was that we waited an hour for our food. We were told that the biggest take out order they have ever received came in prior to us placing our order. Don't waste your time going here. We went with four people and a toddler on a Friday night at 6pm. The service was deplorable with the staff having no idea what they were doing or how to handle a small amount of parties. The food for our, that which actually was delivered to us was terrible and tasteless. A hamburger was bland and dry, the macaroni and cheese was like wallpaper paste and tasted like it as well. Pastrami and Swiss was over grilled with hard bread. One meal despite repeated follow ups with the wait staff was never delivered. Had one of those mornings where you think "I want someone else to cook me breakfast" and decided to try Minuteman Diner for takeout. Easy parking in the lot (few things ruin brunch for me faster than trying to find parking so I love places with lot parking!). Staff were very friendly (and masked!) and I love the look of the bar. Iced coffee was very good. Food was tasty and generously portioned--we got the Super Combo (the answer to "what if I want everything and don't want to choose between eggs and pancakes or between bacon, sausage and ham?") and a pastrami omelet with swiss. Between the two we had both regular home fries and the waffled ones--would definitely recommend the waffled, which stayed impressively crisp even after steaming in styrofoam containers on the way home. (Our toast and bagel suffered a bit, but such is takeout--and the bagel was hearty enough to sail through a re-toast at home.) Pancakes are HUGE. Will definitely return! read more

Breakfast review- disappointing:. Once we sat and ordered, our food took 50 minutes to arrive. The bacon wasn't cooked and mine came cold. I did tell our server and she didn't really say anything. The two people I came with, their food was hot. I ordered a blueberry muffin with my breakfast and our server came back after 40 minutes of us still waiting for our food, to tell me they didn't have any. They need to tell customers before they sit down how long food will take once they order. I also saw a server touching people's pancakes with no gloves on. My family and I went to the Minuteman Diner yesterday after my brother's memorial mass for breakfast. We were a very big crowd and I had made a reservation for 14 and we ended up being more than 20. They were very accommodating and set us up outside together. We had a wonderful meal together there. Diane is the owner and she was great. Stopped in after Mass with the family for breakfast. The waitstaff were amazing and friendly, the place itself was small but very clean but we the food was just ok. Lots of great choices on the menu but not executed the best. The topper was that they had placed a group of 20 something across from us and one of the women decided to kick off her shoes (bare footed) and lay down exposing her dirty feet on the bench. Pretty hard to eat while looking at dirty feet across from me. I was shocked that not one person asked her to put her feet down. We will not be returning. read more
