George came out the same day to shut off the water to the cracked water heater, and the next morning he was back to install our new water heater. Well, I had another leak, this time in the main sprinkler line. . I didn't need to think about who to call because Minyard has always showed up and got the job done. This wasn't an easy job. Update 8/2/24: Reducing previous 5-star rating to 1 star. Minyard replaced my water heater last year. I raved about their tech back then, unfortunately no longer with them. I arrived home last night to a leak that filled the drain pan, water-stained the wall, and soaked the plywood base underneath. I called Minyard this morning, hoping they'd send someone to fix the leak. They said the schedule was pretty open, and could be out this afternoon. Around 4:30pm, no one had shown up, so I called to make sure they hadn't forgotten me. I think they had, and the tech called a few minutes later to let me know he'd arrive shortly. By the time he got here though, he was aloof, said he'd had a long day, and took a quick look to say that he could see no leak, so therefore it must not have been leaking. I explained that I had soaked up what had been in the drain pan the night before, in hope of seeing where the leak was coming from, and saw a drop a minute coming out of the expansion tank, plus, the plywood base was clearly still damp and had since begun to warp. The tech insisted it could not have been a leak, as though I was lying, saying there was nothing he could do, and really had to leave. He said he didn't have time to hear my observations and concerns that it may leak again if the issue wasn't figured out and resolved. I asked if possibly the expansion tank could be removed, also thinking the unit needed to be drained and moved off the platform to dry out any water underneath to prevent mold. He said he wouldn't do any of that. He was curt, rude, uncaring. After he left I called the Minyard office to see if there was anyone else they could send to resolve the issue. They said they'd try, then never called back. So I called a different plumber who was willing to come out this evening and find the issue, empty the water heater, and move it to check under the platform. Yes, there was a pool of water still there, so my new plumber cleaned that all up and made sure everything was safe, and will return to replace the water heater with a new expansion tank once everything has dried out. That's what I expected Minyard to do, so, needless to say, they were a disappointment today, and I won't bother them again with plumbing issues, thankful for the new plumber who kindly heard and believed me, then took the time to fix what needed to be fixed. read more

Nice job, guys! I had a panic yesterday when my a/c temp read 87 degrees in the house. The air was blowing, but not cooling. After calling another local company who couldn't come out until Monday (4 days away) I called Minyard to see if they could come out. Within the hour, Frank showed up. He was getting off work to go out of town for a fishing trip, but swung by my house first. the problem was, thank goodness, a common one for him. He got the a/c up and running again within another hour and I had a cool house by sundown. Thank you so much for service!! So impressed with these guys. My house flooded in Lago Vista and as a result my Grinder pump alarm was going off which meant I had no sewer service for my house (had water, but no shower/toilet/etc.). Called two different electricians before Minyard and both screwed me around and were ultimately no shows. One, it's hard to get subcons to come out to Lago Vista. Two, my job required a 40' extension ladder to get to the alarm box housing. I got a recommendation from a neighbor to call Minyard and ask for Tim. I called Minyard and spoke to Calvin in the office at 7:45am on Monday. By 11:00am Tim and Levi showed up at my house with a 40' ladder'!! I ended up needing a new grinder pump which required them to run into town (Burnet Road) to pick up, but they were back out quickly and replaced the pump and got me up and running. Tim and Levi, as well as Calvin, are top notch!! I cannot give them a high enough rating. If I could have given them a 6th star I would have. I now have a electrician I can count on anytime...for the toughness of this job, and the joint electrician/plumbing skills required to do this job you cannot do better! If you are in Lago, or Western Travis county or Hill Country, these guys will do you right. read more

The office staff is great, they are very considerate, responsive, and understanding about your concerns. They also keep in touch with you to get service to you as soon as possible. Your employe is lying to you, I am the one who asked him If I should just call Mitsubishi to get a recommendation for service, he told me no, he wanted to talk to the tech again. I never insisted on a new blower, I wanted the unit repaired, your tech said it needed a blower, as for the "leak" he said there was none, but that he had tightened some line anyway, which was " only a bit, and the Freon was fine" youll get payment when I feel like it, kind of like your people called me back, when they feel like it. Oh by the way another company fixed it, the blower was dirty and he cleaned it, works fine now. read more

We woke up Saturday morning to our bathroom flooded with water continuing to rise from our shower. It being a Saturday, we had a difficult time getting not only someone to answer, but finding someone available. We got a hold of the dispatcher at Minyard who called a tech, Joe Padilla. He was at our house within 15 minutes (he just happened to be about 6 miles away). We explained what was going on and he immediately knew where to start. Within 10 minutes of him pulling up, the problem was fixed. He was not only amazing, he was super friendly and has an adorable dog, Simba, as his sidekick. We loved the service. Loved him. It's emergency call. they came 8:30 pm and guy told me $650 for fix holes and recharged R22. or just service charge $135 I don't have a choice cause my 2kids. Marcus, one of Minyard and Sons expert plumbers just left my house and I'm very pleased to say that he fixed my rather dire circumstance in an efficient and friendly manner. Yesterday I returned home to discover that I had a literal fountain in my yard... which was a swamp. I called the water company, they sent a contractor out to look at it. The main line was severed on our side so we were responsible for the repair. They shut the water off for me (I watched the meter actually spinning. Crazy amount of waste) I called Minyard immediately and we decided to take care of it in the morning. Marcus was here promptly at 7am and had the problem sorted and neatly put back together by 9:15am. I think the price was reasonable although I didn't call anyone else for quotes - I needed water to my house! Very friendly dispatcher, very easy to pay (over the phone while Marcus was still here). During a recent 105*+ week, I called Minyard Sons to have someone come out and service my two air conditioners. I was told that due to the heat wave and high demand, they wouldn't be able to have someone out until later that afternoon, which was better than I expected. Derek L. arrived on time and quickly began servicing the units. As I hovered around, he showed me what he was doing and how I could do this myself to save money in the future. One of the units had been having a problem with the fan motor. He and I discussed options and we came to the conclusion that it could be replaced now or whenever it actually goes out....which could be a couple days to a year. I decided to wait and he showed me how to replace it when it does go out. Unfortunately, a few days later, the fan motor went out. With Derek's guidance the week before, I was able to replace that motor myself and save more money. I know Minyard Sons may have lost some business by allowing Derek to show me how to fix the A/C myself but their integrity and customer relations has earned all future business from me. Minyard installed a Goodman AC on my rental house in 2013. My unit is still under warranty. This year tenant (who is an AC technician) found out that there is no freon-22 left in the system and took the matters into his own hands and added Freon to the system. Another reading after 2 weeks showed there was a leak in the coil because added freon is also escaped. In the mean time, I setup an appointment with Minyard to come and service the AC. I explained to their service manager on the phone what happened and tenant touched the system. Their service manager Kelvin was OK with that on the first call, he said not a problem they will still send somebody to take a look at the system and take necessary action. On the day for the service appointment a technician from Minyard arrived 45 minutes late. He started rambling about the tenant tampering with the system and he was extremely rude, unprofessional. I told him to leave immediately and called his supervisor. Kelvin this time completely changed his tune and he told me very rudely that they can not service the system anymore. I don't control my tenants actions, he regretted that he touched the system and he apologized several times for that. On the other hand Minyard, was late for appointments, was hard to get hold anybody on the phone and very unprofessional and rude. They were looking for an excuse for not to do any warranty repair on the system. Mineral is not a trustable company, they will not help and do mediocre delivery on the job. Over the long term Minyard is a pretty BAD choice to go with. read more

ADT tried to install my thermostats and ran into issues. The techs advised me to call my sales rep to get an AC out here, but said not to send Minyard. Well, Minyard showed up and the first thing the tech said was, "I don't know why they send me for this crap"...right in front of me. He had to call someone else (an AC guy from another company), spent 45 minutes, and said he wasn't sure how to do it. As he left, he said if you need service in the future, keep us in mind.....really?? I called another AC company, and they had them installed in 30 mins. read more

Minyard and sons plumbing started off slow, made up for that and then proceeded to drop the ball in a very bad way. I called on Tuesday(5/8) 4:50pm to set an appt but they had forwarded their phones for the evening. They called me the following morning after 8 and were not able to come out on Wednesday, but could the next day so I took the appt. I had an appointment from 12-2 on Thursday (5/10), after not hearing from them I called at 2pm to see where the tech is and was told he was finishing up a job and would be heading my way shortly. 4:30 comes around and I get a call from the dispatcher that the tech had a family emergency and would not be coming out. This was not acceptable as I had been without water since Sunday and had already been waiting almost two days for them to arrive, so I begged her to have someone come out and at least access the situation. After a couple phone calls and some sharp words on my part, she managed to get the original tech that was schedule to come out(Dan that had the family emergency-but really didn't). Dan was fantastic and knowledgeable, he talked me through what he thought it was in just a few minutes, but was leaving town for his grandfathers Hall of Fame induction up north(maybe this was the family emergency). He could not have been nicer, but was leaving the next day and would not be the person coming out. Dan told me he would talk to the service manager, Calvin, about my situation and for me to call Calvin to see when someone could come out. I called calvin around 8:15 on Friday (5/11) and he did not think he would have someone available until Monday, but I was a priority and would have someone out first thing Monday, which I agreed to. Fast forward to Monday (5/14) and I called calvin around 8:15 to see when I was scheduled to have a tech come out. After he danced around the fact he didn't have a tech available after telling me I was a priority, he told me he would call me back shortly to let me know when they would be out. I have not heard anything from Calvin since, but the dispatcher called me at 1:30 today Wednesday 5/16 to tell me they have an opening tomorrow(Thursday 5/17) to send someone out. After laughing at the dispatcher and telling her that Calvin has no business in his current role, I explained that Plumb Master came out on Monday and completed the work they would not come and do. Calvin is the weak link of Minyard and sons, it was very disappointing because they came highly recommended and continually disappointed me time and time again. The dispatcher was doing her best with limited resources and Dan was fantastic, but the overall performance of this company was below even a 1 Star. I truly hope this disaster was a fluke, but this did happen to me so this is my take on the company. read more

I had recently moved into a new house and on a Saturday at 3 PM, the AC quit working and the house got up to 90 degrees!!! These guys are fair, honest and extremely diligent. My pool leak was misdiagnosed by another company. These guys were able to detect and repair the leak in record time. The work turned out to be very challenging due to the leak being nealry 10 feet below my patio. These guys were relentless in their efforts and put in some long days replumbing my pool. I called Minyard Sons for Water Heater replacement. David was very helpful and made us an appointment to allow for enough time for the exchange;he also gave us the quote for the replacement. Josh, their plumber showed up. He was very nice, professional and explained everything to us including our different options, without trying to sell us the most expensive one. I have used this company for many years and they were great in the past. Not sure what has happened but when I called to have 5 repairs done only 2 did not have to be redone. The plumbers don't show up when promised if they even show up at all. I called yesterday to have the toilet repaired again ( this is the 3rd try to get this fixed) and they were supposed to be here today but they did not show up or even call. I used Minyards several times over the years and withingthe last year I have a very bad experience with them twice. One, they installed the Ac controller backwards when I did a complete new install on a rental house several years ago ($6k plus). They don't even really deny its wrong but rather its out of warranty. When install something incorrectly that should be fixed when it is discovered no matter what. Second, be real careful here and always ask for a complete quote from these guys in writing. I had a new kitchen sink fixture installed and they charged close to $600. The fixture, which provided, was $75 at Home depot and too 30 minutes install. Watch these guys carefully. read more

I'm uncertain how they possibly got any reviews above a one star based on my experience with them. We set up an appointment to have them come do some electrical work in the garage. On the appointment day I sat around in the 2 hour window and never heard from them. After calling they apologized profusely saying the technician had been rerouted to a restaurant that lost power, which is perfectly acceptable except they never bothered to contact us. They rescheduled with us for the following morning, surprise surprise they never bothered to show or contact us again. I'm uncertain how this company even stays in business or why it is so hard to find service companies that have even a modicum of customer service. read more

For some reason I have given this company many chances to let me down. They have never shown up on time, and have even failed to show at all on the day that was scheduled due to a "scheduling error". When these errors happen with every appointment then it is something systemic. When they do show, I had to do the troubleshooting for them. Read on to see my experience in detail... They have shown a failure to root cause a problem and shown a tendency to slap on the most convenient "fix" so they can get out the door. On my first A/C problem their solution to my problem was to put a piece of scotch tape on my thermostat...yup...scotch tape. On the surface, this was an insultingly idiotic solution, but since I was stumped and my online research turned up no leads, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. After a few days I realized this did nothing, but with the change in the weather the issue seemed to resolve itself over time. On my second A/C problem (unrelated to the first) I called them because I thought having a history with them would be beneficial (I did this against the protests of my wife and in the future I will listen to her). Unfortunately I was out of town so my wife had to field this one by herself. She communicated the problem well and, over the phone, confirmed that the tech got all the info. His solution was that our filter was dirty and did not investigate the part of the system I strongly suggested he look at. The filter was changed and the problem did not go away. Once I was back in town, I called him out late one night and sat with him in my attic for a 1.5 hrs walking him through a process he should have been able to do by himself. I had to compel him to open the evaporator coil box, I had to compel him to look down inside the the coil assembly, and even when the problem (a cracked condensate drip pan) was directly in front of his face, I had to point it out to him. Unfortunate for me, this assembly is a fairly esoteric model so sourcing a replacement will be complicated. He left with some info to try to track down a replacement. I then heard nothing from them for 1 week. I spent each business day this week calling their office and being told that the tech would call me that day. He never called. We finally scheduled a return visit for this morning so he could get some measurements. I got a call 5 min before he was supposed to arrive saying he will be out in the afternoon. That was the end of our relationship. I was told on a number of occasions that they only have one technician now because the others quit...I can see why. read more

I hate warranty work, it's always a toss-up with who they contract to (and if you think I'm just here to complain, read the great review I gave to Appliance Express, also warranty work). I had a recall on my Rheem water heater and Minyard Sons was the company taking care of the repairs. I was happy to see decent reviews and when I called to schedule my appointment they were more than happy to accommodate my baby's nap schedule. Unfortunately, that is where the good points end. I had an appointment window of 12-2. Two o'clock came and went and no technician nor any phone call. I waited until 3:30 before I initiated a call to Minyard Sons. Obviously, I was upset. I had wasted my afternoon, I had no idea what was going on, and I was the one having to call for answers. The receptionist was rude and just played dumb. The technician was stuck on a job in Marble Falls, which yes, I understand happens but how you handle it is what matters. Please read on. She didn't know when he would be done. He had been there since 9:30 that morning. And no one thought that when noon or even two o'clock rolled around and he was still there that perhaps something should be done about his later appointments? I asked why they would schedule me after such a big job. And she just responded that they have no way of knowing. Well, they should get a little more information on what is going on at a job so they can plan accordingly AND CALL CUSTOMERS TO INFORM/RESCHEDULE, IF NECESSARY. I told her to call him and get an estimate on when he might be able to come to my house and she said no because he was on a job. Really?!?! Your technicians enter a black hole once they go to a job and you have no communication with them?? That's a load of crap. Instead she just kept repeating "there was nothing she could do" and acted like it was no big deal that the technician didn't show. Right, because what you should have done was CALL ME 2 hours before I called to INFORM ME of what was going on. He knew he had another job, she knew he had another job. A simple PHONE CALL saying he was stuck and he would either be very late or I would be better off to reschedule is what should have been done. I absolutely did not want to reschedule as I would most likely be sitting and wasting another day for someone to not show up. She "apologized" but the tone of her voice was very insincere and she kept trying to turn it on me like I was upset for no reason. I had to call Rheem for a third time to get the name of another company because I will not do business with this poorly run, inconsiderate company. Want to know the funny part? The technician never showed up at my house, it's almost as though someone called him. PS-Did you get the underlying theme of this review? That a few simple PHONE CALLS would have made a lot of people have a much better day. I am happy to say I went with Reliant Plumbing. They were understanding and professional and took care of the work in about 20 minutes. read more
