His initial evaluation of my back issues was spot-on, and we've been working on a course of treatment that I hope will help me with other health concerns I'm dealing with as well. Dr. Mirando performed too many X-rays on me, and I believe they were completely unnecessary given the great frequency and that there were no changes in symptoms. He also said that the round hole in my lower back meant that my hips were rocked back because normally it is an almond shape, but my doctors explained to me that the shape has to do with the camera angle. Dr. Mirando also could not successfully treat my pain, not my lower back and not my upper back. It was a waste of money going to him with no relief at all. read more

I have been hesitant to leave such a negative review, because Dr. Mirando seemed like a nice person with good intentions when I met him. However, I think it's important that potential patients be aware of the financial risks involved with accepting his services. I went to Dr. Mirando for some mild low back pain in the summer of 2017. He told me custom orthotics could help the issue, but I was hesitant because of the price. (I can't remember the exact price, but it was around $400-500, I believe, for two pairs.) Dr. Mirando told me he checked with my insurance, and that the orthotics would be covered. So, if I went to him for a few sessions and ordered the orthotics, that would put me at my $1000 deductible, after which I would be reimbursed 70 percent by my insurance. However, after I had already spent more than $1000, my insurance told me they would not cover the orthotics. I repeated called Dr. Mirando about the situation, and he kept assuring me he was working on it. That was more than a year ago. The last time I spoke with his office was about a month and a half ago, and they assured me, once again, they were working on it and would be in touch soon. That hasn't happened. I can't say that Dr. Mirando intentionally misled me; however, he has failed to take responsibility for his mistake, and I've given him more than a year to do so. People considering his care should be more financially savvy than I was. Make sure YOU verify with your insurance that your care will be covered instead of trusting his word. Judging by other reviews, many have had a positive experience with Dr. Mirando, and the cost was worth it for them. It wasn't for me. (On a side note: I felt like my back pain got worse under his care, and I did start receiving strange leg cramps as well. He did warn me that this was normal, and that it was a sign I needed more adjustments. I didn't feel comfortable continuing to see him though, so I opted for massage therapy instead. Combined with regular stretching and yin yoga, deep tissue massage has been extremely beneficial for my low back pain. It might be better to spend your money there.) read more

I came to Dr. Mirando's office through Living Social (or Groupon) for a massage + chiro exam. My masseuse was Ama and she was fantastic. My back is always so tight from sitting at a desk all day and she was able to work out a lot of those knots. I like a lot of pressure for my deep tissue massages and she did a great job. In addition to my back issues, I had been dealing with tingling in my left hand due to a compressed something or another in my neck. It had been going on for more than 2 years now and I needed to get that fixed. I mentioned it during the exam and Dr. Mirando immediately put a plan together. He has been working with me for nearly 2 months now. While the progress is slow (I put off getting this fixed for 2 years. I don't expect to be fixed overnight), the tingling and numbness has gone down by A LOT. I only have issues when I'm stressed and I tense up. Even then, the tingling and numbness is about 10% of what it was. I have a great health plan that is able to cover the costs of adjustments and this is so worth it for me. After all, if you don't have your health, what else do you have? read more

I visited Dr. Dominick Mirando yesterday due to hip and back problems that have been troubling me since a sports injury about a month ago. Anyway, I called Mirando Chiropractic on the recommendation of a friend.They were kind enough to squeeze me in that morning. I was impressed with the care I received here for several reasons. If you're new to chiropractic treatment and are a bit uneasy, Dr. Mirando will explain everything to you and take the time to ask a lot of questions in being very thorough. He is friendly (as is the office staff in general) and although the waiting room was quite busy, I didn't feel rushed at all. My injury has caused some complications for which I've had to return to both my gp and orthopaedic dr. for further treatment. So for the moment am not in need of a chiropractor. But if I was in need of one, I would not hesitate to return here. read more

I am twenty-three years old, and I have had flat arches and poor posture for a long time. I was in a car accident in August, and after a month, the pain in my back and feet had settled in enough to become a daily inconvenience. Walking was harder, and every time I tried to straighten my posture my spine would audibly pop. I finally decided to seek help, so after come online studying I found Mirando Chiropractic in my neighborhood of northwest DC. I received treatment from Dr. Mirando himself, and he could immediately tell that something was off. A few x-rays later, his suspicions were confirmed--thanks to the accident, my entire spine, from the cervical down to the lumbar, had been shifted around, pinching an entire set of nerves in my side, and my pelvis was tilted so that one of my legs was shorter than the other! Pretty crazy. Ten minutes, eight adjustments, a series of loud snaps and a rush of endorphins later, Mirando's treatment transformed me into a new woman, a better woman, or at least of woman with a straighter back and less pain. I returned for more weekly adjustments, and since my appointments with Mirando, I am in better shape than ever before, even before the accident. My posture has improved, my legs are now the same length, and it shows. Friends and family alike have noticed the difference, saying I look taller, I'm standing straighter, and I've stopped complaining about my back. I have not been in any pain for weeks, and I have arches in my feet again. Not to mention, Dr. Mirando and his employees had been kind, accomodating, and patient during every one of my visits. First let me say that Dr. Miranda is a very good chiropractor. He did help with a lot of back pain I was experiencing. However, my overall experience with the business was not positive. I felt pressured to pay upfront for a bundle of appointments, and then when I ended up moving and not using the remaining appointments, they refused to give me a refund. I think it's unprofessional for them to keep the money for services that they never provided. I would recommend finding a chiropractor who does business in a more ethical way. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Mirando since he took over a significant portion of Dr. Browns practice. He is warm and caring and so is his staff. He has always been upfront that his practice does not accept insurance but they are willing to give you the required paperwork to submit for flex or insurance. I have also found that using the massage therapist (Chris) greatly aids the process. Insurance may or may not reimburse that. I have had insurance that has as long as it is in the same visit and insurance that doesn't. I would take issue with the reviewer who is blaming Dr. Mirando's office for her insurance problems. It is incumbent upon the insurance subscriber to confirm with their own company what is covered. read more

I have been seen by Dr Mirando over 6 years. I am very active and have found it very helpful to be able to get an adjustment when I over do an exercise class, or sit in front of the computer too long. He and the staff are very helpful, warm, professional and accommodating. I can get in to see him easily and there is always just a short wait to get an adjustment. I can get in and out, which I completely appreciate. I go in about 1 or 2 times a year, and always feel really good when I leave. I also have had a massage - it was fabulous! I don't know how he does it, but within a couple of sessions, he always manages to seriously decrease my pain and sometimes alleviate it entirely. I became familiar with Dr Mirando through a living social voucher for a free consultation that involved a massage and chiropractic exam. I purchased this activity because I have been having pain in my shoulder area and neck as a result, I believe, from receiving adjustments from another chiropractor and I felt as though my concerns have been ignored. I needed a second opinion and this voucher gave me a perfect opportunity to get that without a large expense. The chiropractor I have been going to since April has never taken an x-ray to look at the true cause of my pain, so I was beginning to feel like I was being milked for money and needed to get to the root of my pain and 'fix' it. So, I was skeptical but Dr Mirando was pleasant and thorough in his diagnosis. I was pleasantly surprised when Dr Mirando performed the strength test which confirmed the weakness I was feeling in my right hand & arm. I immediately felt relieve from the pain and tightness after the first adjustment. I am still skeptical of chiropractors, but the fact remains - my pain is decreasing and the results thus far have been positive and I am starting to think that I will actually be able to play softball and sleep on my right side again without soreness and pain. I am grateful to Dr. Mirando and look forward to correcting my issue entirely. The massage helped to further relax me after my adjustment and Ama (I think that was her name) was great! I completely agree with Ems P - COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!!!. I also purchased a deal on livingsocial for a massage and chiropractic consultation. The deal was cheap, but little did I know that the deal included almost nothing that needed to be done. The doctor insisted that I absolutely needed to take xrays and get my back adjusted, both of which were very expensive. The whole time I felt like I was rushed through the exam and he didn't seem very knowledgeable about anything. In fact, the whole time I felt like he was trying to get me to pay for as many treatments as possible. I felt decent after the first adjustment, but it didn't hold for long so I had to go back for another adjustment. He charges over $60 for one adjustment that takes 2 minutes to do. That's a lot of money, especially if he's insisting that you see him at least once a week. He also won't give you any exercises to do until you see him for at least several treatments. I just can't help but feel like this guy is completely in it for the money. A couple of appointments and several hundred dollars later, I still have just as much back pain as I had before seeing him. I also got the exact same treatment as Ems P - no joke - exact same treatment! Yes, in retrospect it was a complete joke and the doctor probably did the same thing for all his groupon/livingsocial suckers regardless of what problems they actually had. Also, I got the massage from a superbly creepy masseuse. I was uncomfortable the whole time and my back did not feel any better at all. I really wish I never spent a dime on this guy. I should have known from the first few minutes with him that HE WAS JUST TRYING TO GET AS MUCH MONEY OUT OF ME AS POSSIBLE, but unfortunately my office job has created chronic back pain that I was desperate to heal.
