Pretty decent fusion Pakistani American food. We had the fusion burger and chicken tikka Masala plate. The burger was alright, not too spicy which was perfect for my kid. The chicken tikka Masala was perfect with crispy naan. The restaurant itself is very cramped and has a dive feel so if you are looking for ambience this is not the right place. Ordering was easy and the waiter was nice. They even offered us free pakoda when it was the Ramadan fast time. Overall good experience and will visit again and try a more spicy fusion burger. read more

Happened to be with friends for a quick dinner bite in the month of Ramadan. Ample parking spots which makes it a breeze to find one , park and make yourselves comfortable in the cozy cafe with a good ambience. Right around the time of iftaar, the cafe served a small serving of dates , a small quantity of a dish made with chickpea and onions just enough to break your fast and getting started to devour their amazing meals :) . We ordered Gobi buffalo wings and Madrasa fries to start with along with some Aloo tikki as well. Done to perfection and amazing flavors written all over these in every bite that we had. Definitely recommend these for starters. For our main course if you will , we ordered a vegetarian calzone , palak paneer and a chicken tikka masala (where the panner and chicken were served with rice and naan IIRC). Amazing taste and all of these tasted great. Even though the place was busy the wait time wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been and the hosts had amazing hospitality. The did run out of their dessert options though that probably is an opportunity to make up for when we visit them next time over :) . I ordered through their online ordering system (clover) for dinner for a co-worker and myself. We ordered the 10 piece chicken meal with mirchi fries and cheesy garlic bread, and a beef noodle stir fry. Our order was ready in 20 minutes and the people in the front of the restaurant were quick and helpful. The restaurant itself only had one family dinning in it but it was a Sunday at 5pm so maybe it gets busier at other times. Mirchi fries: ordering any type of fries to-go is always a gamble so I will give these fries a pass for being soggy, but the flavor of the fries were surprisingly good despite the texture of mushy potato. (3/5) Cheesy garlic bread: tasted like frozen store bought garlic bread. (0/5) Fried chicken: also tasted and texturally appeared frozen as well. Lacked flavor, but the crunch was nice when it didn't completely fall off the meat. (2/5) Beef stir fry: easily the best thing we ordered of the night. We ordered it spicy and added beef. Would go back and just order this in the future. (4/5) We may go back to this spot for the stir fry since it is close to our place of work but most likely will not return to this spot. read more

Came here for Father's Day and it was the spot to be! We came with a party of 12 and were seated inside within 20 minutes. The service was really nice and friendly. They have a huge menu with something for everyone. We do wish that they had more Indian options for our elder family but the butter chicken was really good. So good! The calzone is incredible and the lassis were delightful! Such great American comfort food with a slight Pakistani twist. I have yet to have anything mediocre. I prefer this location over the Dublin one. The staff here are so friendly and welcoming (the staff at the Dublin location are a bit rude and not helpful). Full disclosure: I'm not particular about Halal food, so a place that serves Halal American food isn't normally a place I would go to. But a group of friends wanted to meet at Mirchi Cafe for dinner on a Saturday evening, so here we are. I looked over the menu, and the most interesting item seemed like the spicy ranch fries. So, I ordered a fried chicken sandwich with a side of spicy ranch fries. The sandwich was super dry - I had to ask for a side of mayo to make it somewhat palatable. And the ratio of bun to meat was way off - too much bread and could barely taste the chicken. Finally, the flavor of the chicken itself wasn't my preference - a bit too much like garam masala, which I don't care for. But the spicy ranch fries were actually pretty good. They were hot, crisp, and lathered with a spicy sauce (buffalo sauce?) and ranch. That's a flavor combo that I really enjoy! Everybody else had similar reactions to their food, so it probably wasn't just the item that I ordered. In short the service was good, the food we got was super oily on the outside and the meat a bit dry. The fries felt super old, but perhaps if we go back, we'll try something else. We were wanting something sandwich like so we opted for a Paratha Roll with Chicken Boti (Boneless chicken breast cubes marinated in tikka spices and baked in the tandoor oven) it comes with fries and a small container of coleslaw but if you're not liking fries and coleslaw, you can get a salad. The flatbread was super oily. Unsure why it needed to be that oily. The flavors of the meat and the chutneys were great, but the chicken itself was super dry. I wish they would put a side of the yogurt mint chutney to help with the dryness. The fries felt like they were super old or yesterday's fries recooked. The inside was mealy. I did appreciate the spices sprinkled on it, but also wish I knew that it was coming "spiced." O V E R A L L Pretty speedy service and glad they were open when I needed some lunch. The Paratha Roll was just not superb with the oiliness of the flatbread and the dryness of the chicken boti but the flavors did save the meal. I would skip the fries. I've never dined in but I love ordering the takeout from here! My favorite item is the chicken wrap or the veggie wrap -- both packed with a flavorful spicy sauce and veggies. Both wraps are pretty much the same, but the veggie wrap includes potatoes instead of chicken. Many items also come with two sides (choice of fries, salad, or coleslaw) and the side portions are quite generous. They make solid fried chicken and I've also tried the crispy chicken burger and was quite satisfied with it! The menu is pretty big so I can't say much about the other stuff but the items I've tried have been super yummy and this restaurant has become a regular spot for takeout in my house. read more

One of my go-to spots! The food is pretty good and the service is solid as well. My usual order is the crispy chicken sandwich with all fries on the side. The madrasa fries are really good too though if you'd wanna add that on. I've tried wraps, burgers, and pastas here as well and they have all been pretty solid. Prices are a little bit on the higher side as of the past year or so. I've noticed it gradually go up, which I guess is expected given the current circumstances. Fantastic desi cafe which is fully halal. They have hearty portions and the food is delicious. We really liked the ambience (coke studio playing in the background, desi artwork, humble vibe but excellent service). A wonderful place for families and kids. The lahori burger was a hit - spicy beef patty in a brioche bun. It came with a hearty serving of french fries and coleslaw. The spice ratio was perfect. We also got the crispy chicken burger which was deep fried and seemed to taste less spicy. With that we got the madarsa fries which have a special sauce. The gobi (cauliflower) wings - cauliflower florets tasting very similar to chicken wings and cooked in a spicy red sauce. They went well with the ranch sauce on the side. The cardamom lassi was a great surprise and I really recommend more people try it over mango lassi. It had a hint of ground cardamom and tasted very refreshing on a hot summer day. Oily tasteless overpriced pasta! Our friends got the lasagna pasta for a party and it was nasty. The party tray was over $120. It was extremely oily with hardly any flavor. The pasta was overcooked and the ground hamburger meat wasn't very flavorful. I wouldn't recommend this dish to anyone unless they like to overpay for slop. I've heard about this place from multiple people so it was time to give it a try. There two locations within the same strip. One is just a to-go? I believe and the other place is a sit down. We were seated quickly with great service right off the bat! My friend and I split the spicy crispy chicken breast sandwich since we were going for a easy hike. Chicken was crispy but tender inside. I could've handled for more spice on the sandwich! I also thought I'd be able to taste the curry flavor from the chicken more. Bread and sauce brought the whole sandwich together. I ordered from Mirchi Cafe for my coworkers and was not too impressed with the food. I ordered the Lahori Burger and liked the Afghan spices in the patty, but the patty seemed too dense and could've used even more seasoning since the flavor was still mild. The bun wasn't toasted and other the patty, it was just a regular American style burger. The Madrasa Fries had the potential to be good if they didn't use frozen fries. It absolutely ruined the texture. Fries really aren't difficult to make fresh. I didn't taste any spices in the fries - maybe add some cumin and cardamom to the sauce to give it that distinct Afghan flavor. The Chicken Tikka Calzone was also underwhelming and could've used more spices. While it did taste like chicken tikka, the sauce lacked depth. For the best fusion, adding some cheese or paneer inside could've brought it to the next level. read more

We heard rave reviews about this place so we had to give it a try. We left underwhelmed, but it was a decent experience. The fries are okay, but I am not seeing what everyone is raving about other than you cannot seem to get that mix anywhere else. Staff are friendly and quick with the service. Seating is cozy and can get pretty loud with larger groups coming in to dine. The airflow is a bit stagnant and families seem to let their kids run loose at will. Burgers are okay, but we did not get a wow factor from any of the items we ordered. Wouldn't mind coming back to explore a bit more of the menu. read more

A restaurant open late during weeknights! Their menu looked absolutely incredible and there was at least five different dishes I could have eaten that night when we went. I ended up going basic though and getting the Palak Paneer curry dish. The curry itself was good, but the naan was the best naan I have ever had, so chewy and warm. Wow! My friends ordered a burger and fries combo which looked incredible as well and they both enjoyed it. This place also offered pizza and other kind of fusion dishes. I went here with a big group of 10 people so we got to see a good variety of the dishes they offer here. This place is supposed to be a "Pakistani American fusion" theme, that was my initial concern going in. If you make good Pakistani food then do that well, but hey maybe a Tika Masala chicken salad would be good so we tried it out. Long story short the food was bland, under seasoned, over cooked and just not good. It's a shame because whoever's is cooking this food off whatever recipes just doesn't seem to care. The only thing I'd get again was the straight up Chicken Tikka Masala dish which was traditional and that was passable, the salads, the pepper chicken, the chicken sandwiches were all not good. We came here during Ramadan so we came hungry for sure, but we were not blown away by the food. It was all decent, but nothing wowed us at all. We got the Lahori burger (the best thing). Hawaiian desi pizza with masala sauce, madrasa fries, and the mirchis fried chicken. The pizza was really doughy and didn't really have any sauce, and while the fried chicken was juicy and crispy on the outside and came piping hot, we didn't really see what was special about it flavor-wise. We really wanted some sauce or something to dip it in to amp up the flavor. The madrasa fries with their spicy ranch was just fries with a ranch mixed with crystal hot sauce or another vinegary hot sauce and then some mozzarella cheese melted on top. I ordered a Punjabi chicken burger by mistake instead of the crispy chicken burger that my friends were raving about, and it tastes like a regular burger with a beef patty. The fillings complement the burger well, but overall they were a bit small for the size of the bun. The burger could be seasoned a bit more, but I do like that the bun is toasted, giving it the nice crunch on the inside. The salad is average--it's like a spring mix salad with diced cucumber, onions, and tomatoes. Their lime cilantro vinaigrette was pretty good with the salad! Service was average. For the food, we were told it was a 15-20 minute wait. I asked about the difference between the chai and Masala chai, and was told that the Masala chai has more spices to it. Since I've never had it before, I asked if they had any samples to try. They said no, and that they make it ready to order. However, my friends ordered chai, noticed their cups were not completely filled all the way and asked if it could be filled to the top. Then I noticed that they had a dispenser in the back that they filled the cups with! So it's not actually ready-to-order... Other than the fact this place is Halal, I am not super ready to come back to this place. I did try a bite of the crispy chicken sandwich, which I would order if I go next time, and that was pretty good. Update 7/31/17: I visited here about a month ago when I initially made a review. To clarify, I meant ready-to-order as in prepared for each order. Sorry for any confusion! But anyway, Ali M. (from Mirchi Cafe I'm presuming) reached out to explain that the chai is pre-made, but the masala chai has spices that are added that are measured for a 1 cup quantity, thereby making it difficult to distribute the masala chai as samples. Bland chicken no seasoning, I ordered double servings of fries and they only gave me one . Which they still charged me for double serving. When I asked the waiter if this was just one serving she said yes, but at the end said that was both servings. Overall the food was not good and overpriced. Hidden(at least to me) at the back of a a little Plaza in the Irvington district is Mirchi Cafe. Not to be confused with the Deli that is before the Cafe keep walking down towards the end of the shops. Very family friendly is this family run business. The staff always friendly and helpful in ordering. We arrived famished and wanted everything!! We started with some Gobi buffalo wings- cauliflower fried with buffalo sauce and their own ranch dressing. Let me tell you the consistency was spot on! It was cooked yet had some crunch left and was not soggy like other places I've had this dish. The thick slices of carrots and celery balanced out the intense flavors. Next was the spicy chicken strips with a red undertone that also had a spicy bite to it. They make their own spices to add to the chicken. As a main dish and per my Yelp peers we tried the chicken tikka masala. It was so delightful with the perfectly cooked basmati rice (wish they served more) and naan. I was dipping my naan non stop in that tikka masala sauce I kid you not. Naan soft and chewy. just for fun some fries Mirchi because who doesn't love fries right?? At this point we were full yet...we kept going and last but not least their "halal" Tiramisu cake was so freaking amazing and decadent that we "forgot" we were full. Did I mention Im not a fan of Tiramisu- but this generous slice made me a believer. Its moist and tasty layers with a bottom chocolate crust was so good Im thinking of ordering a whole cake for my next event!
