I eat a lot of tacos all over Southern California, let's just say I know my shit when it comes to the art of tacos. This place looked really promising, but I've had better and cheaper elsewhere. I ordered the following tacos: 1 carne asada, 1 carnitas & 1 lengua. The lengua taco was the best, very tender. The carne asada was ok, not a lot of flavor. The carnitas was the worst, way too salty. Also, I ordered it without guacamole and of course they put it on there anyway. I like my tacos with cilantro, onions and my choice of salsa, that's it! A small splash of lime and I'm good to go. I don't need a big heaping pile of guacamole to alter the flavor of the meat, that's not my thing. At $1.75 a pop, these are one of the most expensive "TJ Style" tacos I've had in a long time. I love this place, I was working on a project at Pala Casino across the street and I would stop here almost everyday. The quality is pretty good. The staff are very friendly and food service is clean and prepped nicely. The authenticity is great aswell. Prices are good and food is made and served very quickly. This place is way overpriced for a hole in the wall taco shop. The burrito was quite good, and the chicken taco was delicious, but still not worth how much it cost. Great service from the cashier. I was interested in the TJ street taco for $1.85 but the cashier told me that they now come in threes and are about $6. She said that the menu on the wall is an old menu. The total cost was over $10 for a meal that would cost $6- $7 elsewhere. Maybe it's because it's one of the only places in town outside of the casino. Ordered a carne asada burrito with cheese and guacamole only. They charged me extra for the cheese which was fine. The toTal was $12. I was shocked by the price but thought I'd get a larGe burrito for that price. I ordered to go. When I got home and unwrapped my $12 burrito and bit into it, it was a rice only burrito. The strange thing is that there was just two of us in the restaurant. Not sure how you can mess that order up but I'm definitely not going back. My friend who I was with ordered a carne asada burrito also, and when he got home to eat it, he noticed that it wAs a California burrito. I wanted to like this place because it has a lot of charm & the personnel are very nice. & although there may very well possibly be good food here, I must give a poor review to draw attention to how unacceptable their bean & rice burrito is at nearly $9. I have tasted better Mexican food, but it is certainly an alternative to eating at the Pala Casino, which I would say it would be more expensive. It is a small hole in a wall place, and it is pretty much no-frills. Also, it is possibly one of the only restaurants around that is free standing out of the casino. Otherwise, you may have to drive a few miles up the road to find another one, which I think it is. read more

Just stopped here on our way out to ocotillo. Some of the best carnitas street style tacos I've had in a while. Lots of carnitas that's tender but crispy, good green sauce...totally worth the stop. Might have to come back on our way home. read more

Caveat emptor- I've only been here once, but I was impressed with the extremely good carne asada tacos here. Soft tacos. With lots of tender, tasty meat. And grilled onions, which is a nice addition. Can't say I was impressed with their salsa bar, though. If that was as good as the tacos, I'd probably give them 5 stars. The kid at the cash register was very friendly. He seemed genuinely happy to be serving customers. Don't experience that very often, especially at a taco shop. I'll definitely come here again when I'm in Pala. read more

Right across the street from Pala. The machaca burrito was big and super good. The guy working the guy at the counter could not be nicer. Nothing fancy about this place, just good food! Husband went here for breakfast. Ordered a breakfast burrito which we shared I took two bites and noticed something hard so I spit it into a napkin AND WHAT DO WE HAVE A STALPE. I immediately called them to say what happen the lady who Took the order( refuse to give her name or manager name ) ask me was I sure said I didn't order from there then asked me what I ordered. I told her my husband just left there told her what I ordered she told me to bring the STAPLE the SPIT OUT BURRITO AND THE REST OF THE BURRITO to get my money back. Once we arrived still she refuse to give her name and the cook came from cooking said he don't used staples in food ( WELL I SURE HOPE NOT). I asked the same girl now for her name and the manager name she says she DO NOT HAVE TO GIVE IT OUT . I said excuse me I told her to take my number down and have the manager call me because that was not going to be sweep under the rug and I felt so disrespected. I also asked for a card and took my phone out to take another picture of staple and evidence she so afraid and guilty thought I was taking a picture of her and fled to the back. Once gone my husband so upset called back and told her we need a name of supervisor she said something in Spanish to cook I assume cause he was only one there at time then said Juan or Jose. I came here with an open mind.. I ordered a shrimp burrito and was then told they were out of shrimp. I asked for chips and salsa and was told that would cost an additional 5.95.. I ordered a large code for 2.95 and received a medium size glass that was 90% ice.. I got another glass of iced down coke.. I ended up ordering the carne asada burrito which ended up being pretty good. I asked for a refill on my soda and was told it would cost an extra 1.00. For what I paid for a drink I was ripped off. I will not go back there again. Usually, whole in the wall restaurants give the best service but I was not pleased with the service I received here. read more

First impression was based on previous reviews... so we decided to try this place out. We ordered the carna asada & adobada TJ style tacos which was on the ok side, but not great. The carna asada fries were better because the fries were the crinkle cut (wavy), but the salsas (red/green) were very good. I cant say that I love this place, but it will do when you are in the middle of no where-ish. The customer service was nice & friendly, always a good reason to go back is nice people. read more

I really loved the TJ style tacos! my husband and I tried the Lengua, Carnitas, Adobada and Chorizo and they were all AMAZING! Yes they were a little pricey at $1.75 each but when we saw that they were made FRESH and had LOTS of Guacamole ,plenty of tender Meat and toppings...than they were worth it! We did wait a little for the food but like I said the food is made fresh as you order. The Cashier was super nice and offered us something else to make up for the waiting time. This is a Hole in the Wall place which is what we always look for because we know the food will most likely be Authentic Mexican Food. I also tried the one's at Pala Casino for $1 each and they were not as good...very little meat with just a small amount of cilantro and onions. So this place is directly across the street from Pala Casino if you ever want some delicious tacos :) But they have an extensive Menu with lots of affordable items and combo meals. I am looking forward to stopping by another time to try the Menudo. read more
