Spicy Girl Roll & Florida Roll
    Brandi B.

We dined here while on a trip to Gulf Shores. It was fairly empty, so our party of 5 was seated immediately. The sushi was fresh and delicious! Two of our kids ordered fried rice, which they enjoyed. It was plain (no meat, very little vegetables), but they preferred it this way. The serving size was perfect for my 5 year old, but my 12 year old ordered a second bowl. Our daughter ordered the California roll and enjoyed it. My husband ordered the Spicy Girl roll and the Florida roll. I ordered the Dragon Roll and the Spider Roll. The Dragon Roll was absolutely divine!! The Spider Roll was tasty too, but my daughter tried a piece and didn't like the lettuce being included. I didn't mind it. I ordered a "regular" mojito, which did come with lime and fresh mint, but I wouldn't order it again. It was on the sour side, and not very minty like most mojitos I've had usually are. Overall, this was a great dinner spot for our family while we are visiting Gulf Shores!

The wife suggested a new place so I decided to take her and the family out and please her. My wife got sushi which she said was pretty good but didn't standout. 2 of my boys got the bubble bags which were really good. The cajun and medium spice level sauce with crawfish and shrimp was excellent. My other boy went with ol reliable and got fried shrimp which did not disappoint. To top it off I got fried oysters which were really good the cajun sauce. I would give it a 5 star but I don't believe in perfect.

This is one of the seafood buckets they have, I can still taste it when I look at this picture

This restaurant is absolutely fabulous, everything we ordered was up there with the best we had ever tasted. My family and I travel a lot and eat this type of Cuisine all over the world and I was very pleasantly surprised to find such quality, flavor, and presentation in Gulf Shores Alabama. If you're anywhere even close to this place when you're hungry I advise you go out of your way to get a table here. I could go on for over 30 minutes telling you how good everything was but I advise you save time reading this set a reservation instead. I am adding a few pictures that we took to show the ambiance and fun we had here.

I've been anxiously waiting to try this new place that replaced another Japanese restaurant Aji San. We had visited the old place several times and the food was pretty good but the interior was a little shabby. The new folks have done a great job with the interior, it's stunning with the giant screen on the rear wall, all the lights everywhere, and the cold schemes make for a festive and inviting casual atmosphere, indeed much improved. We shared some sushi, they call is a Tiffany Roll which is crab and avacado deep fried with spicy sauce on top. It was very fresh and came with plenty of ginger, it was good. Both our entrees came with miso soup and salad. The soup was excellent, some of the best I've had and the salad was fine but the ponzu dressing was also excellent, much lighter than the average lumpy orange stuff at lot of Japanese places, light and well seasoned. My honey went with the teriyaki shrimp which came in a very nice well seasoned sauce with lots of broccoli and steamed sticky rice, the shrimp was a little overcooked but it was also also good. I went with the hibachi chicken, also with sticky rice, but the chicken was overcooked and dry and there wasn't a lot of flavor going on, I mean it wasn't terrible but not great for a hibachi dish. While the seafood bag options look great, I'm coming here for the Japanese and the prices for the bags are significantly higher than Blalock's, for instance, who will produce the same outcome, steamed to bring home. Bottom line: Overall the people are very friendly, the device is good, atmosphere outstanding but the food is middle of the road for my taste.

Fire Cracker Shrimp Fried Rice - 9.2 I order this every time we visit. It is my favorite dish of all the places we visit each year at the beach. It may not be the best but definitely my favorite and in the top 3 as far as best goes. The fried egg on top really puts it over the top although, I do wish it was runny and not cooked through. Gyoza - 7.0 Has a lot of filling which is good however, it isn't very seasoned or flavorful. They appeared to be fried however, not very crispy. We try gyoza at nearly any restaurant we visit that has it on the menu. Comparing this to other gyoza's, it's good but not great. Tuna Lovers Roll - 7.8 Roll was good but a little too spicy. The spice was expected obviously but still a tad too spicy. It also lacked the correct amount of sauce in my opinion. It also needed another ingredient or two to take it to the next level. Sesame Cracker w/ Honey Butter - 8.4 I rated it a little higher due to the originality. I have eaten at restaurants in half the States that make up this country and have never had toasted sesame crackers with honey butter. It is a thing in the South to have saltines, club cracker, etc. with butter at seafood and steak restaurants. However, I haven't seen this combo. It was good and not too filling.

My advice, find a seat, have someone order at the order window, then head to the bar to order drinks. The wait to order food took about a half hour. It was very quick to get our drinks. We were able to snag a couch area on a platform. It was so comfy and we loved the views. A heads up- if you snag a couch like this, kids will get up on the platform and jump off of it. People will step up on the platform and walk extremely close to you. I had to ask a kid to stop throwing sand by us because we were eating our dinner. It was a little chaotic. We were extremely patient and understand, but I could see some people being very upset and annoyed. After ordering, our food came out pretty quick. I started with the coconut grouper bites and they were phenomenal. Light breading, lightly sweat, and flaky. I had the Gulf Grilled Cobia and it was phenomenal. The fish was tender, flaky, and light. No fishiness at all. The sauce on the fish was also delightful. My husband and son had the fajita skewers and both enjoyed them. My husband also had the peel and eat shrimp and said they were amazing at The Gulf. Our drinks were okay. We had better drinks at other places during the week, but they weren't bad. We would return, but try to come on an off-time that wasn't so busy.

We were sat after less than an hour, and our waitress Haley was amazing. She was friendly the entire night and we had great banter with her. We ordered crab claws as an appetizer and they were cooked to perfection. My husband ordered the Surf-n-Surf and I ordered the Bronzed Grouper. Haley checked in with us often, and after some time she realized we hadn't received our dinner. We began the meal with a Cosmo and a Fairhope Brewery Blue Steel Sour. Both were very good. The Blue Steel sour has notes of blueberry. For an appetizer we ordered the cheese dip. It consist of three cheeses, including Gruyere, which is one of our favorites. The cheese also comes with feta cheese and a tomato relish over the top, which we find very good. It makes the cheese dip a little different than others. The tomatoes are very soft and the relish is on the sweeter side. My Wife got the chicken roulade. It was okay. The chicken was good however, it is wrapped in bacon and flash fried. In our opinion the flash fry isn't needed and it adds the risk of the bacon being overdone or burnt, which is what happened. The Parmesan risotto was a little gummy but had good flavor. The cream sauce that accompanied the dish was probably the best part. I got the fish sandwich and upgraded from sheepshead to grouper. You can get it fried, blackened or grilled. I chose grilled and it was really good. It was not the first time I have gotten the fish sandwich. The bun is a sourdough/Hawaiian roll hybrid. I got an order of fries to go with the fish sandwich. Their fries are really really. They're slightly battered and crunchy. Very good with ketchup or tartar sauce or both! If you visit I would suggest sticking to the fish sandwich, burger or fish dish (grilled/blackened) that comes with a cream based sauce. Their drinks and beer is selection really good as well.
