Miss Lucy's is an experience from start to finish. Please take note that if you're in a hurry, don't eat here. If you settled nicely into island time, please do yourself a favor, sit down and take it all in. Miss Lucy's is a small restaurant directly on the water offering delicious Caribbean fare. My family enjoyed the fish fry, coconut grouper and avocado snapper. Absolutely delicious. My kids enjoyed the goat, cats and chickens that joined us for dinner. Did I mention the view? Absolutely loved Miss Lucy's! We recently came here during our honeymoon and had the best lunch. We ordered the johnny cakes, grouper reuben sandwich, and the jerk chicken wrap...the food was amazing and the view is absolutely incredible. It's was so nice to eat right on the water! Great view but food was ok. Hubby had the paella and it was good but nothing extraordinary. I had the clams and chorizo pasta which was tasty but both of our clams in the dishes were gritty which pretty much ruined the rest of the meal experience for me. After grinding a lot of grit in every clam bite we took I gave up and stopped eating so that was unfortunate and a big no no in the culinary world. Rinse the damn clams and mussels! I ended up flinging my clams to the stray cats who didn't seem to mind the grit as much as I did. read more

So, we just had hiked to Ram's Head near Coral Bay. Lunch was the next thing on our agenda as it was 11:30, what a refreshing stop we found at Miss Lucy's. I chose the Crunchy Mahi sandwich that came with lettuce, tomatoes and red onion, with the homemade fries & my wife had two sides - the saffron rice with peas & the cornbread w okra. Both meals were delicious and fresh ingredients were evident in the flavors. The tap water is $.50/cup plus each refill, but other than that the food was fair priced and worth every bite - our was $30 plus tip. As previous reviews have mentioned, yes, there is plenty of wildlife that visits you as you eat - goats, hen, and two cats during our stay. Great food, especially the Johnny cakes and conch fritters. The post-Irma remodel has really helped the outdoor atmosphere, and the seaside dining is nice. We liked our appetizers more than our entrees, but I've experienced the opposite in the past. Can get very pricey, but that's to be expected on the island. It's worth it to stop and have some good regional cuisine. Beware of chickens that wander around the tables... which didn't bother us but might be a deterrent to others. read more

The view! The food! The drinks! The service! The goats!! What a great place. We sat outside and enjoyed watching the sun paint the hills across the bay as it set, and had the best dinner of our trip here. Our server was so great with recommendations, took our picture for us, and definitely wanted to make sure we had a nice time. We started with conch fritters and very strong drinks (my new husband had to drink mine and I asked for something mixed a little more on the pansy side). The conch fritters were amazing, fresh conch, not frozen, crispy, tender, and great dipping sauce. I had the paella and he got the incredibly huge, incredibly delicious ribeye steak with fufu mash. The paelle was full of very fresh and tasty seafood, and fed us both for dinner again the next night- it was huge and SO good. The steak was so simply done and so tasty, and the sides were so simple I wondered what they were doing to make them so good. The fufu mash was unbelievable.... I am wondering if I can make it at home! The goats wandered through a couple of times while we ate, which was a hilarious novelty for us, and the little resident cat hung out by us to get petted a bit too. We came back for the jazz brunch and were surprised after the previous night- only 4 tables had been occupied- to find the place absolutely packed. Despite that, more friendly service (and surprisingly fast, considering the crowd) and delicious food. The sweet potato hash had an amazing and very homemade chipotle hollandaise that I could have eaten with a spoon, and the pina colada pancakes were just ridiculous. Fluffy made-from-scratch-batter pancakes with crispy edges where the coconut got browned, and the bites of pineapple throughout made them so sweet and moist. HUGE portions again and really wonderful. We can't wait to go back to St John and to Miss Lucy's! read more

One of the best places on the island. Almost unspoiled view of the ocean, great food, and drinks. Grouper Rueben is awesome. Sides are fantastic. Add in the occasional chicken, stray cat, or goat (yes goat) begging for your food while you eat and the picture is complete. I would do lunch at least weekly if it didn't involve a multi-hour plane trip. Choose outdoor seating, but if you have to be indoors due to rain that is great too! read more

A couple of miles out from Coral Bay but worth the drive, or stopping by when one is already visiting the Saltpond or Lameshur bays. Open for lunch and dinner, with seating outside or inside a screened porch. Indeed not fancy, and I found it expensive, but the place is very clean, well cared for, and the food was delicious. Conch chowder, conch fritters, paella, etc. Live music. A chance for some authentic Caribbean tastes but less fussy than Sweet Plantains in town. My kids (7 and 10) are not that adventurous with food and this restaurant wasn't to their liking. Usually we can get them something like sweet potatoes or rice, but here those are spiced (deliciously IMO) and the kids wouldn't eat it. The kids did like exploring the beach for shells. It's outside the official park so an OK place to collect, and not too picked over. For a lunch visit this might also be a nice place to take a dip and snorkel, but we didn't do that this trip. read more

The seafood paella was so delicious and the portion was huge. My husband ordered a fish entree and was disappointed so he ended up eating the rest of mine. The price was high - normally we wouldn't spend $100 on a meal for two but we splurged for our honeymoon. Definitely the highlight of anything I ate or drank on our entire trip to the Virgin Islands (both US and British) was the Lime in da Coconut frozen drink here at Lucy's. I am still dreaming about it and I am on a mission to recreate it at home so I can enjoy it everyday! Johnny Cakes were amazing with the honey as well. Miss Lucy's is a must do when in St. John. We were here 15 years ago and it is still as good as we remember. The setting and views are second to none. The staff are as friendly as ever. Closest restaurant to Concordia Eco-Resort! We went there the night we arrived, which happened to be a Full Moon Pig Roast. A great live reggae band was playing which put us in the island mood. The BBQ was decent and the service was a little slow but friendly and the atmosphere was great! Plus they have goats. :) read more

I liked the creole whole snapper a great deal. The sides were a little strange for most Americans. My wife was not in love with the curry chicken- it tasted good but the Caribbean style is to leave all the bones in and they are small. The veggies were a bit old tasting and so was the mac and cheese. They do pour a huge cocktail I had 2 and was walking funny. One thing, they weren't too nice to us after they got our $$. read more

What can I say about Miss Lucy's that has not already been said except that it was one of the best meals on the island and when you combine the food, the view and the ambiance, you cannot get any better. When I saw the Grouper Rueben on the menu, I knew I was sold and believe me you will be too. It was awesome. we started with the conch fritters that came with a remoulade sauce that has a really good kick to it. My other half got the grouper sandwich crusted with cornflake crust and it was also phenomenal. You may have to wait a it for the food to come out, but with such an amazing view and warm ocean breezes and yummy cocktails....Yes, their Painkillers are just as awesome as those we got on Jost van Dyke! ..... Out of the way in Coral Bay and view from the road is not appealing with goat pens. But, walk around back to a nice patio with great view of the bay and nice bar. We only had drinks but the food looked god. read more

Made our annual trek out to Miss Lucy's Sunday brunch just a few weeks ago. We love going there. Beautiful location, and the jazz duo on Sundays is always a delight. They start serving at 10:00 am, but plan on getting there before that. We left the Westin at 9:20 and every outside table was already occupied. We got lucky and found 4 bar seats. Eating inside there, just isn't the same. Had the salmon scramble which was delicious. Their eggs benedict is also a winner. IF you are staying at the Westin, talk to a cabbie about driving you there and back, otherwise, you may not get back to town, unless of course you have a car. read more

We recently spent a week vacationing on St. John. We received several word-of-mouth recommendations for Miss Lucy's. On our day visiting the east end of the island, we drove through Coral Harbor and on to Miss Lucy's for a lunch stop. The restaurant is situated on the water in a rustic and uncrowded setting and is clean and tidy. There is indoor open air seating, and outdoor seating with great views of the bay and neighboring islands. Service was crisp and efficient. Prices are fair for St. John.
