Delicious. The whole family works here and so welcoming. I was on my way to the lake and decided to stop for their delicious banh mi. My friends will be dining in next time. The grilled pork on rice looked delicious
My Vietnamese friends recommended this place for their Bun Bo Hue and they weren't wrong. I've had my fair share of Bun Bo Hue while traveling around Hue, Vietnam and I must say that this is definitely one of the best out there. The best part of the dish was undoubtedly the broth. The broth is very rich and deep in flavor. Although it has an intense color, it wasn't too spicy. Highly recommend!
I came here on a Saturday night. My friend and I travelled all the way to Argyle for some pho. We wanted to try a place we haven't tried before. Miss Saigon caught our attention with their interior and the amount of people eating inside. It wasn't packed but we secured a nice little table by the front of the restaurant. The waiter came to us after maybe 3-5 minutes. I ordered the pho with everything and my friend ordered the pho with meatball. We also ordered the banh mi with fries. I would say that the fries were so good. It was crispy and flavorful. The banh mi was nothing special, just what you expect. The phos however were really oily. It was oily because they added short ribs to the soup. The pho noodles were also not as thin as we expected. It was more of a flat noodle.
We stopped by here to try, thinking all the pho places should be pretty good at Argyle. It's definitely have a nice atmosphere and pretty modern and spacious. They use really nice water cups. The food wasn't bad but not super spectacular. They use the thick wide rice noodles for pho, the soup base is not bad tho. We tried their sampler platter and thought nothing really stood out, the shrimp roll which I judge a place on is pretty plain, no special veggies like mint or basil inside. The peanut sauce and the sweet sauce were okay too, not bad but also not spectacular. I was interested in their southern style chicken based pho with egg noodles. I thought it was not bad but my husband didn't like it. It kinda tastes like instant ramen broth, but better, if you know what I mean. It had seafood but all were a little too tough/overcooked. The bao was fine too, pretty small and the meat were a little tough. We weren't super impressed but it is still better than the really bad pho places, at least the pho broth tastes like pho. The only issue we had was that the staff appeared to be sick but they didn't wear a mask or anything. Hope we didn't catch anything from the restaurant!! Overall I think the quality and the quantity were a little less than we expected for the price they charge.
The Uptown neighborhood in Chicago is full of delicious pho options and this was one I only recently discovered on recommendation of a friend. Miss Saigon has all the makings of the traditional pho joint you get in the neighborhood with all the modernness of a new restaurant. Cool vibes and great food make for a great experience! Super open concept so you don't feel crammed in at all. Service is great and you get your food quick .
Wanted to try a new Pho place from the usual spot I go to on Argyle. Food was ok at best for the money you are spending. Broth of flavorful and the meat serving was generous. I did not know/expect the noodles were the wide noodles and not thin ones. Service was not great. The only time I saw a waiter coming to our table was taking our orders and filling the water cups once, other than dropping off food. Meal was finished and trying to get them to come over so I can pay for the meal. Watched them socialize with each other, check other tables out, and made multiple eye contacts with them and nothing. I finally decided to get up to go up and pay, that's when I was told they will meet me at the table. Overall experience was not great or even good. Will definitely be eating around at other places.
I got the short rib noodle salad, papaya salad, and my friend ordered the shrimp noodle salad. I wish they had the grilled pork noodle salad. Their menu is relatively small but portions were all large. I enjoyed the papaya salad a lot. I would not get the short rib again as it was not much meat.
My family from California came to visit and were craving solid Vietnamese food by the tail end of their trip. We ordered it bbq pork baos, pho Saigon and bun bo hue. The pho and BBH broth is slightly on the sweeter side but still so good, broth is very developed and clean. My family are pretty tough critics on Vietnamese food and they were happy with the meal, comparable to back home. I like how they offer pickled garlic/chilies on the side, you don't get that often. Might be the top BBH and pho place I've found in Chicago so far, especially in Argyle. Clean restaurant and friendly service. When I'm craving pho or BBH, this would be my go to.
Love everything about Miss Saigon Every time I'm in Chicago, I have to swing by for lunch and comfort food. Their signatures are Pho and Crispy Chicken, but I still haven't tried the Pho because I'm hooked on that crispy chicken. It's SO good! You can get it with fried rice or noodles, and both are solid choices. The chicken is super flavorful, crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside. The taste is so authentic it really reminds me of home. Their Bun Bo Hue is also incredible and really comforting. The staff here is 10/10. They were super thoughtful and welcoming, and they made me feel extra special when I mentioned I was visiting from out of town. The restaurant is in the heart of Vietnam Town. It's pretty small, but cozy and clean. Exactly what I look for in a comfort food spot
I would say this has amazing Bun Bo Hue, and I know when it's good. The flavors and color was there, so much fresh herbs that came out. The Pho Saigon was also filled with flavor, just wish it came out a little hotter. The service was great and I loved the ambiance inside. It was Vietnamese music playing and sometimes I rarely hear it in restaurants. We also had the Rolls Sampler which came with two egg rolls and spring rolls which were also fresh. Loves this place and wished I found it earlier.
I was feeling a little under the weather so I thought getting some pho would be a good idea. I was right. The staff seated us right away, the ambiance was cute. I ordered the short rib pho and a cup of hot tea it hit the spot and was quite delicious.

I decided to try this place with my brother on a Friday after work. It was pretty dead when we arrived. There was just one other table and they were wrapping up. Upon immediate entry the ambiance and level of customer service left something to be desired. The music was something you'd hear in an elevator and the servers were distracted by their phones and not very attentive. Further details on the staff will be at the end. We started with an order of 3 bao each. I had the shrimp and my brother had the pork bao. The shrimp were tasty and the breading had a good level of crisp without being overcooked. The pork on the other hand, would not be worth ordering again. It was more bao than filling and this resulted in a loss of flavor. For my entree, I ordered Pho Saigon. The portion was large and it had good flavor, I prefer the pho and overall dining experience at Tank Noodle, but this hit the spot. Now, back to the customer service! After we got our appetizer, a couple came in and the server sat them right next to us. We were at a booth/table setup, so the people next to us were very close! They noticed this too and moved. Immediately after our entree came, a second couple came in. Again, they were sat right next to us. At this point there were three tables being occupied (including ours). It was a little strange and we exchanged looks with the couple next to us like "Wtf are we basically on top of each other." It was a memorable experience for sure. Nice place for date night. Lovely selection of Vietnamese and Asian foods at a good price. Bowls of pho and other soups are giagantic and you should have leftovers. We tried the steak bao, beef pho, and spicy korean noodles. The bao were okay and remind me of Taiwan. The pho was good and huge! The spicy Korean noodles were our favorite and also so big we took half home! It is also byob which is always nice. Prices ate reasonable between 6-14$. read more
Miss Saigon delivered. I went for late night dinner and got the bbq pork banh mi and a friend got the vegetarian pho. The sandwich came with fries which were amazing. I would order a separate order of them if I wasn't so full from the sandwich. Speaking of which, that cross section was a thing of beauty. The sandwich bread had a crusty exterior and nice chew that you need in order to feel like you actually had a substantial bite. No complaints about the pork but I wish there was more picked veggies and cilantro in the sandwich, just a personal preference. The friend loved the veggie pho, and she had a ton leftover because the portion sizes are generous. Other than that, the decor was cozy, they have little benches you can sit on or seats with backs on them. There's no reason not to go because it's located right off the closest red line stop so stop by! read more

Really cute place, great food, nice service I ordered bò né with sausages- beef, corn, sausage, egg, pate on a hot plate. The beef was slightly sweet for my taste, recommend adding soy sauce or salt and pepper (authentic way of eating this dish). The dish came with bread, fries, and salad. Bread was crunchy, went nicely with the beef and sauce. Fries was crunchy, buttery, delicious. The salad was okay, came with sweet sour sauce- not impressed. One complain is that the egg was still raw when served to us. The can still be cooked on the hot plate, but the plate was not hot enough the cook through the egg white. So if you are concerned about consuming raw egg, tell the server to cook the egg thoroughly! Totally recommend :) read more
I'm pretty down with Miss Saigon from flavor profile to price point. I was just introduced to this restaurant this year (2017) and have visited a few times to cruise the menu. I give it 4 stars based off the beef short ribs alone which is one of my favorite cuts of meat anyways. The pho here is pretty good but not my favorite. It is and isn't your standard pho given the option of beef short rib that gives it a sweet broth. I only kind of liked it the first time but even more so now. There are a variety of other soups to try, and I have, but it's best to stick with the pho. The Ramen was kind of off the shelf and sloppy. The meat cuts come with steamed rice and French fries. It's all like meals you would hook up at home and it also hits home for me. I recently for the first time used the "Ask a Question" feature for Saigon. I asked if it was BYOB because there is no bar. Some fuckface Jimmy W. from Gilbert, AZ told me BYOB is never accepted anywhere and to stop being extremely cheap. However I asked the staff and for your dining pleasure being your drank cause Jimmy W. is from Gilbert, AZ once known as the Hay Shipping Capital of the World meaning he probably doesn't know shit. I want to go back here already! My sister's Vietnamese friend had recommended this place to her so I trusted that this would be good. We all ordered the Pho Saigon which was your normal bowl of pho plus barbecued short ribs on top. The broth was the best I've had thus far. I could just drink a giant bowl of the broth. It was rich and seasoned so well. Service was really good. They brought out to go boxes for those of us who needed it and helped us bag up the leftovers. read more

I was watching Check Please! Saturday and came here the next day. Some of the stuff they featured looked really good. But the food took so long to come. It was at least a 20 minute wait for our appetizers and the manager did apologize for the long wait. I over heard a worker telling someone they were swamped cause of the show. And they had to close earlier the night before cause they ran out of food. I guess Check Please does have somewhat of an influence. Tell me what to eat next! But cover my check! I went for the egg roll wrapped in a spring roll and the crispy chicken mi kho, broth on the side noodles. I was so hungry we ordered 2 of the different appetizer samplers. The Saigon egg roll wrapped in a spring roll was a disappointment and the rest of the appetizers were nothing special. The egg rolls, fried meatball which waa actually fried fish cake, the spring roll, crab rangoon, butterfly shrimp, sweet and sour chicken wings....all eh, good but nothing spectacular. The noodles and the other hand were pretty good. They were drenched in the crispy chicken flavor with scallions and I don't know what else....the chicken itself was good, not entirely crispy but good. This is a try it once kind of place if you're nearby. I wouldn't drive the half hour it took for me to go here again. It's pricey compared to the places around. But the interior is nice, except the bathrooms if you're comparing to the restaurants around it which are mainly hole in the wallish. read more

RECOMMEND. Came here pretty late after an art gallery across the street. Tried their Bao Viet Tacos and Korean Hot Spicy Ramen. Also, we ordered hot tea. As a tea enthusiast, I definitely approve. PROS: -Fresh food served fast -HOT TEA -Very clean and a nice ambience -Open till late -Great variety of food CONS: -Customer Service could be better. (Told the server that I wanted my ramen with no fish tofu but got my food with it but other servers were super friendly and professional) -No lemons :( Also, met with their manager about the little incident and he was very understanding! LOVE THIS PLACE! I started coming here more recently instead of my usual Pho place because 1. No MSG 2. 20% Cashback on Groupon 3. Friendly, modern atmosphere The ingredients here are higher in quality in my opinion, especially the meat. Service is also more friendly because it's not completely ran by 50 year old Asian immigrants - most of the servers here are really chill and quite young. I recommend getting the Pho here, the pork chop with rice, and the Vietnamese coffee! read more

Seriously -- I am in a constant state of craving the pho special that they have here. It is so, so incredibly yummy. This last time I went, I deviated from my normal order & tried the South Style Noodle Combo. As noted on the menu, its broth was on the lighter side, especially compared to the pho special broth, which I'm used to. Unsurprisingly, the noodle combo was great, but I think I'm gonna stick with the pho special. It's just too good to not order. :) to be honest, the food I've had here is definitely on the slightly saltier side (I always have to drink a ton of water after eating here), but it's still so good. Whenever I go, there are always other customers in the restaurant, but it's never too crowded (around dinner time, on the weekdays and weekends). Food comes out in a reasonable amount of time. Fair prices, too. This place makes me feel so cozy... will certainly be back. (: read more
It's very cute inside. Small and welcoming and the service was good. I had the vermicelli noodles with grilled short rib. Very good and flavorful. They servE it with the right amount of fish sauce. My husband had the dry noodles with the soup on the side. That also looked very good. The only comment I have is that they have the broken rice dish, but don't serve broken rice. Which was disappointing because I love broken rice. All in all, we will be back. read more

Didn't like the beef as there was very little and fatty. Shrimp Noodle Salad: a good refreshing palette. Oddly it comes topped with a fried roll? Lastly: Short Ribs. This was the best. Seasoned well. Decent choice for pho in the chicago area. The noodles were cooked perfectly, nice and chewy at the beginning, not too soggy at the end. The broth was pretty good, it has a bit of a sweet side as well as an herbal taste to it, which I like. I could taste a hint of sourness which is probably from the fish sauce but it wasn't enough to affect the overall taste of this bowl of pho. My main complaint would probably be the slow service as it took a while for me to get my water, and the waiters were too busy talking to each other to bother checking up on customers. Would I come back? Most likely as this has made it to one of the top of my list. However I will try other places before choosing a regular go to place. read more
First time here and will return! Flavorful pho broth and simple yet tasty chicken with noodles- broth on side to be eaten separately as a soup. Delicious. The ramen that I expected , lately I've been addicted to Asian cuisine, and I love the combination of food, so good, that I can write a song about it, not that spicy but I think it was the idea of it, good match with Viet Iced coffee, too much sweet for me, but it's not a problem.. And you know I've tried a lot of ramens, and this the one that I always wanted, bc other places cook it by Japanese method I guess, and this one is more Korean way as I feel, its just my opinion so enjoy the food, and after this I want to try something different in Miss Saigon, end one more thing the atmosphere and the place is dope and comfortable.. read more

Came here about a week ago and am craving it now (but I'm a suburbanite so can't make it in regularly). Based on recommendations, I ordered the mango salad (excellent and huge portion, had to bring it home and was still good for lunch the next day) and the pork chop (moist, deliciously seasoned) with an additional Chinese sausage (which I devoured quickly). Service was attentive tho kind of slow. My friend came late but didn't get her water until her meal came out. It was a bit too bright in terms of lighting but the food was definitely memorable for me. Will be back with others. read more

Best Pho in town! (Chicago) seriously, I am a local and I have tried many Pho restaurants in Argyle/Broadway, Skokie, Lincolnwood and this spot is hands down THE best!. The broth is so flavorful; it has an authentic Vietnamese smell/taste.It's not oil/greasy; not heavy either the broth is very light yet rich. It does not beat my Cali Pho. However! it sure come close! I can't say the same for the other dishes on the menu because I'm just obsessed their Pho. Try it try it TRY IT! I want to add, this place has an urban vibe. ie Brick wall, wood table, mason jar as water glass. Pros: It's BYOB! Only cons: They do not give enough beef! So I always have to order extra :( PLEASE give us more beef! TIP: Order the extra beef on the side they will give you more that way. :) P.S I'm Vietnamese. So I know my PHO :) read more

I was meeting up with some friends near Argyle and since we were already in the area and hungry, we figured we would get some Vietnamese food. We wanted to try someplace different or at least some place we hadn't eaten at before so one of my friends suggested Miss Saigon. Compared to some of the other places on Argyle, Miss Saigon seems a lot more trendy/modern and aesthetically pleasing and for the lack of better word -- clean, if that's something you care a lot about. Food was fine, service was a little slow for how empty it was and it seemed like sometimes the waiters were just kind of standing around doing nothing. I ordered the pho dac biet. Serving size was good, broth was good, I feel like for the price it was maybe a little smaller and with a little less meat than some other places, but I was more than full after finishing it. Another nice thing is that there were 6 of us and they had no problem splitting our check 6 ways when some other restaurants in the area won't do more than 3. Overall I had a good experience here but nothing too outstanding, especially from a service perspective. Still gets 4 stars from me because the food /was/ good and the atmosphere was nice. But would I go back? Maybe, but I feel like there are still better places in Uptown to get pho. read more

Came here on a Saturday around 4 and it was pretty empty. Service was great- two thumbs up. Portions were large and they were good!! Pho broth is great! Roll Sampler Platter is also great! It's a lot of rolls! I'd say 2 or more people. Noodle salad with lemongrass beef was clean and refreshing and yummy! 4 stars cause there's no 4.5...the music was a whole album of a girl singing acoustic covers. Played the entire time...probably could have used a shuffle mode.... Overall, great place to come! Very modern and clean and healthy. read more

Was a bit skeptical cause the place didn't look like your typical pho joint (and I mean that in a good way!), but the food is on point. Simple menu and they do it well. We ordered the spring roll platter, bun bo hue, and the pho Saigon. We enjoyed all of it. Both the pho and bun bo hue were flavorful and meat was plentiful. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu. read more
When I left Miss Saigon, my large bowl of pho with steak was completely empty. I even slurped up all the soup, which says something about how much I enjoyed it! Ingredients looked and tasted fresh. The broth was flavorful, rather light with some sweetness, but perhaps missing meatiness. Although I think it's hard to beat Tank, they sure held to their own. Argyle Street is home to many Vietnamese restaurants, but there's been many a times where I've felt I had to rinse my utensils or pick out what's clean. I didn't have any worries here as everything looked clean and service was excellent. The wood, steel, exposed brick decor felt modern. If you're someone that likes some ambiance when having a meal, Miss Saigon is an obvious choice over the others. read more

I decided to try Miss Saigon since it was right around the corner of my house. My experience here did not disappoint! I had a server named Nick and he was very friendly and social. It was like talking to a friend. I had the Southern Style Combo which is a noodle soup with BBQ pork, shrimp, fish balls, etc. with egg noodle. It tasted great! I would definitely go here if you want to satisfy your taste buds with Vietnamese food! read more

Yes this place is BYOB. I'm not sure why that other person answering gave his opinion on BYOB. He's probably never been to this place. They don't even sell liquor, it's tea and freezes on the menu...not all restaurants meet local/state liquor…
