We thought we would try this since we frequent the area and one of my favorite Vietnamese restaurant is around the corner. We order a banh xeo for an appetizer, one pho and bun bo hue. Although I appreciate the quickness, the appetizer came out the same time, which meant the main dishes sat cooling. The dishes had all the fixings. The banh xeo was crispy, the pho was tame and the bun bo hue had a hint of bitterness (to me). The service up to serving our order was fine, but the rest of the time the staff avoid us, it seemed. I would say the bun Bo hue was alright it was lighter than the many version I have tried, the flavors was a good but needed a little more kick to it. The spring roll was packed with more lettuce than shrimp or meat. There was less peanut sauce for four rolls which wasn't enough. There could have been less noodles and lettuce and more shrimp. Overall, PL777 was a good middle ground! The food was a solid 3, pretty mid not bad not great but good. The service was excellent ! Very prompt and efficient. Let me tell you, they do NOT play when it comes to the level of spice of their homemade hot chili oil. It was probably the spiciest and best I've ever had. If you're sick, THIS is the remedy. Decent pricing for two apps and two L bowls with extra noodles (always). They do a lot of take out orders over actual dine-in but pretty good layout and clean on the inside including the restrooms. I will start by saying the food was really good. But unfortunately that was the only good this about this place. First, there was no AC, and while serving hot food it made it even hotter in there. Then, our server, she only got the two out of the four of us waters. And she forgot about our drinks and had an attitude when we reminded her about it. Then we got our food and she never checked in on us once after we were served our food. I had to walk up and ask the other guy she was working with for a refill. And when we finally got her attention to close out and separate our checks she gave us attitude for that too. I decided on (small) Pho Le 777 Special rice noodle soup - well-done beef, meatball, tendon shredded tripe. The meat and tripe were tender and flavorful. But, the broth? The slow-simmered-for-hours-with-herbs-and spices-broth was so delicious. I contemplated placing an order of the broth to take home. My coworker said the roasted duck was tender and it was one of the best he had. He plans on returning with his family soon. Pho Le 777 is located right on McCormick among other restaurants. It's not hard to find. There is plenty of parking around. There isn't much decoration but has a comfortable/welcoming ambiance. The service was friendly and superb. We live nearby in ravenswood and this is our go to pho place. We've now been here many times now and find ourselves wanting to come back a few weeks later. The pho and all its sides are very good here. The spring rolls with peanut sauce are also great. And anything with the lemongrass beef chicken or pork (pork is my favorite) is delicious. The food gods were watching over me. I tried another pho place around the corner, the refused to seat me. I decided to try Pho Le 777 and was so pleased. The waitress greeted us with a smile and her service was outstanding. We had spring rolls which were fresh, crunchy and very tasty. I had the beef pho and my wife had a chicken noodle soup. Both were delicious and both our broths were refined and tasty. I'm so glad I came here. I will be back soon. The customer service here is truly below standard, especially the attitude of the old lady chef. She made disparaging remarks and laughed at us. Although the manager witnessed this situation, he didn't offer any apologies and pretended not to hear us when we asked who the manager was. Then we walk to the back of the restaurant where there was someone behind register counter. She said you can sit anywhere and we took menus and sat down. A few noteworthy points going for 777: -Roasted duck is available. -If you follow foodie vids on any social platforms you may be aware that some Asian restaurants are utilizing the help of robot servers. Basic rover types. Think Battlestar Galactica 70s version. Theirs is a bot with a digital smiley face and it makes cute sounds when it's boinking around the shop moving towards your table. At which point you'll have to grab your items and it'll boink elsewhere. Handlers are closeby as it makes rounds. -The restaurant has an enormous flat screen TV that looks as if it could be a full 86". The picture clarity is so great it could be LED and wow if it is. The staff put on Youtube vids of foodie influencers walking Vietnam's street food scene. Unfortunately nobody was paying attention to what was playing and there were some gross scenes of foot play. Not while customers are eating! The broth of any pho is everything you need to know. Make sure to try it first before adding any sauces or from that plate of free additions. The sauce is only if the broth is lacking. Which was the case the other day. Decided to try their seafood pho which is made with only chicken stock. Seafood pho is commonly produced from a mixture of seafood and chicken bones. The lightness of the broth signified the usage of bones but contained no other distinctive flavors. $13 dollars for a small bowl and the seafood mentioned in the menu was so low in quantity it didn't matter because it did nothing to the broth. There were a ton of the usual veggies. Two medium sized shrimp not properly deveined (yuck), one seafood ball cut in half and a couple pieces of small cut squid. Effing pathetic to call that seafood pho. But on brand. Every plated entree was just as generic. No style or special great feature. Spring rolls to-go were not formed properly and the rice paper was already torn. The kitchen staff would have seen this but didn't care to remake it. One detail carried through every entree ordered; miniscule quantity of meat. The amount added to the spring roll, rice noodles entree or a damn Bahn MI had such a paltry quantity. I'm curious if the owner is cheap or the business is on its final tailspin before oblivion. In this area there are two other pho joints with solid reviews / word-of-mouth pizzazz. With that in mind if your restaurant is trying to compete with theirs, y'all gotta bring that A game. **Looks like they recently updated their website for ordering. They could utilize some tech in the shop by offering menus on ipads so that customers can see a stock photo of their entrees. Vietnamese food isn't solely pho and bbq meats. It was delicious. The waitress was nice and friendly. We needed a little help because my aunt and mom wanted to order something that we didn't see on the menu. So another lady had to come help us and she understood what we wanted and helped us order it. The roasted pork rice set was big, lots of meat. We could eat another bowl of rice with it.
