Are you looking for the best place to get brunch?? Well, you can stop looking now because this is where you will find the best brunch menu and drinks in town. I got the Southern Slammer Sandwich which was filled with a fried tomato, bacon, avocado mash, cheese, and a fried egg. All of this came on a pumpernickel bread. I got a side of hash browns, but you can get grits instead. The flavors were perfect and everything was a perfect combination! It's like a sophisticated BLT sandwich. The service was great too! We did have to wait for a while, but it was not too bad. We came earlier in the morning though. read more

Came back for 2022 winter Restaurant Week in the city, as my sister and I wanted to introduce my parents to Miss Shirley's. They've lived in Baltimore for over fifty years and somehow haven't been. I ordered the red velvet donuts, which were perfect: not too sweet but very dessert-like. The pulled pork macaroni and cheese was absolutely divine, I could eat that every week. If only there was a Miss Shirley's in NC!!! My friend brought me to Miss Shirley's on our recent trip. She said it was staple of Baltimore and she was right! We went for a later breakfast and the place was slammed. We were seated quickly despite a wait. Our server greeted us quickly and she was wonderfully attentive throughout our visit, filling our coffee and waters often and chatty too. I had a difficult time deciding what to order with so many amazing choices. I love that many of the items had a twist to a traditional breakfast entree. I debated long on two different options and I ended up going with the South of the Border Omelet. I really wanted about 3 other things. Our food came quickly and hot. My friend ordered the shrimp and grits and we were surprised how it came out. It was individual little grit cakes vs a big bowl. She loved it! My omelet was full of all the good stuff and every bite had something in it. It was delicious! I could only eat half of the omelet, very filling. I will definitely be back to Miss Shirley's any time I am in Baltimore. It is a must do! read more

I came here for a reunion a year ago and had high expectations because of the good reviews. I found the dining experience to be solid overall. LOCATION: The vibe and ambiance are great, and the outside seating is perfect for a Sunday morning brunch. Be wary of the long lines though! FOOD: (1) Chicken and waffles - The waffles could be crispier. They were a little soft and seemed like they have been sitting out for a while before they were served. The boneless chicken breast was also a touch dry, but I was pleasantly surprised by the Jalapeño Butter, dusted with Cajun Spice! (2) Cuban huevos sandwich: Extremely hearty. The Ciabatta was fresh, and the Applewood-Smoked Ham and BBQ Pulled Pork were perfectly cooked - tender and juicy. (3) Raspberry white chocolate pancakes - too sweet and not worth the price DRINKS (1) Southern ruby crush - enjoyed the basil on the top of the drink (2) Mango coconut crush - delicious. Visited the BWI location before my flight and it was everything. Originally I wanted to sit at the bar, but there was no seating. That should have been a sign that the place was amazing! We were able to get a booth. Our server was a bit busy, but she was still attentive to us. The mimosas tasted a little funny (like old orange juice?) but they did the job! The food was absolutely amazing; there were so many things that I wanted to try. Now I have to visit the other location and truly enjoy the menu! read more

We visited Miss Shirley's on an early Sunday morning and it was perfect timing. You see, Miss Shirley's is ALWAYS packed. This was the first time I had ever been able to walk into Miss Shirley's and be seated immediately. We chose to sit outside on the back patio; which was the perfect morning atmosphere. We ordered the Bayou Omelette and a Kids Half Dollar Pancake Box. All items were hot and fresh. I appreciate that our waiter asked about allergies as soon as we sat down, prior to ordering. Prices are high for breakfast food in my opinion, but the portion sizes and quality make it well worth it. Here's to a great time, cheers! read more

It's more than gourmet food. It's a flavor experience. Can't miss this one! It's like New Orleans meets Nashville but with chefs trained in the best Parisian culinary schools. I really don't know how they come up with their specials but they can't be found anywhere else. read more

I enjoyed my pleasant brunch here the other day! The food is really tasty- I had the shrimp chowder and the salad (pictured). We also had the biscuits with jam. It was all good, but maybe not exceptional. I had higher expectations for the biscuits. If I return, I would probably tried something with their yummy looking fried chicken. The chicken and waffles that my friend had looked really delicious and got great reviews! The service was decent. We were forgotten around the end of our meal, but the beginning went well. Everyone was friendly and they were able to split the check easily, which is always really nice. I would probably return, mainly because I liked the easy parking and atmosphere inside! read more

I have been to this Miss Shirley's location a couple times now and am always impressed with their service! The employees are extremely attentive to you and make you feel very welcomed. It's important to note that Miss Shirley's is usually always full to capacity and somehow the wait times have never been longer than 15 minutes for me. This place is a house hold name in Baltimore and now I understand why! A must have if you're ever in the area. What I have tried: "Get your grits on": Miss Shirley's style shrimp and grits. If you're into Southern food, I highly recommend this dish! The fried green tomatoes are something I have never tried and I was definitely a big fan! Overall, the dish was very well seasoned and really hit the spot. "Grandpa's cornbread": Cornbread with Jalapeño- Peppadew butter, with cajun seasoning was sooooo good! Great appetizer to share while waiting for the main dish! "Amy's Favorite Bagel": open faced smoked salmon bagel with all the typical fixins and then some. Hands down one of the best brunch spots in DMV and Baltimore area. Worth the wait and the price! I've eaten here twice and it never disappoints. The biscuits are tasty and moist. So good!!! We waited thirty minutes for a table, and the food was worth every minute of the wait. Although I'm not vegan, it's worth noting that they have a vegan menu. I ordered the Powerhouse Sandwich from that menu, which was sourdough bread with an avocado mash, and lots of veggies and pickled red onions. It came with a side of cucumber and tomato salad, all of which was outstanding. Sadly, I was too hungry to take pictures. read more

I've heard a lot about Miss Shirley's Cafe so was excited to finally visit the other day for Saturday brunch - apparently, this location is "better" than the Inner Harbor location too (not exactly sure on what standards, but I'll take it). I was able to try: 1. Funky Monkey Bread ($12.99): Cinnamon-Scented Pull-Apart with Bananas, Chocolate & Pecans, dusted with Powdered Sugar & Cinnamon. Pretty much tastes as good as it sounds - served warm, the bread itself was soft and delightfully chewy, and the variety of textures with the bread, chocolate chips, bananas, and nuts made for a fun experience. Even though I had some regrets after finishing about 3/4 of the entire thing in a day (leftovers ended up being a snack), I would definitely order again. 5/5 2. Skinny egg white quiche (not official name, can't find it on the online menu): a crustless egg white quiche with vegetables mixed in (topped with a slice of cheese), served with a side of slaw. I appreciate the availability of a healthier option, but the flavors were very mild and on the blander side, especially in comparison to the other food. I also thought the portion was small for the price paid. Would not order again. 2.5/5. I was also able to try a couple bites of the chicken and waffles, which were solid. Service was polite and efficient, and food came out quickly. Would go back, and would be willing to take people from out of town. Solid 4 stars. read more

I went to the original Miss Shirley's here in Roland Park on my first day in Baltimore and it was a great start to my weeklong trip. Only a few minutes after their 7:30 a.m. opening on a Sunday and the restaurant was already filling up as I arrived. That was a promising sign. If I had waited until 9, I would have been waiting for a table, as several people were when I left. I ordered the chicken and waffles with a side of bacon-infused grits. All were excellent. The waffles came with a sweet peppadew pepper-jalapeno butter drizzled with a honey mustard aoli and Cajun spice. They also offered real maple syrup, which beats that fake sugar water all to heck. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. I later visited their Baltimore location, just down Pratt Street from the Hilton and Camden Yards. It was just as good. read more

I go to Miss Shirley's very often! I enjoy the atmosphere and customer service is always nice. Here are reasons why I like it: 1. Always changing menu. Constant seasonal favorites. 2. Meal is large will get you full or always bringing home leftovers. 3. Waiters know the menu very well. 4. Quick and friendly service. 5. Enjoyed lunch with a friend at Miss Shirley's. Continue to admire their eclectic offerings. We both opted for the Park Place Powerhouse - which is a mouthful, literally! Nice assortment of sides, and their hash towns are yummy. Waitress was smart and attentive, yet she forgot to mention the specials - realized that when we were paying and I heard the list recited for the next table. Stopped in while visiting family in Baltimore. Locals and visitors all highly recommend Miss Shirley's as a must try for breakfast. I ordered a crab cake fried green tomato benedict adding fried oysters. This should be a menu staple. Everything was fried perfectly and distinguishable. Often times fried seafood can all taste the same, not the case at Miss Shirley's. Service was attentive and helpful. I definitely suggest you check em out next time you're in town. read more

Miss Shirley's is the place I take visiting family for brunch. It's a Baltimore classic and has several famous entrees. Generally speaking, the service is great, the food is good, and the atmosphere is vibrant. Definitely look to get there as early as possible because it fills up fast. As for specific dishes: Coconut Cream Stuffed French Toast: Delicious, but too sweet to enjoy the whole plate. Halfway through I felt like I couldn't eat anymore. Southern Gravy Train Skillet: One of my favorite entrees. Love how the egg brings the dish together Funky Monkey Bread: Great as a shareable appetizer or to take home, huge portion. Chesapeake Deviled Eggs: I'll echo other reviewers and say these are amazing. The crab pairs perfectly with the egg, tomato, chives, and old bay. Cuban Huevos Sandwich: Great sandwich! They put the right amount of mustard on the Ciabatta to accent the delicious layers of meat and cheese. I'm also generally a fan of anything with a fried egg. Chicken and Waffles: This is why my review is only 4 stars. This dish is sometimes absolutely fantastic, and sometimes completely dry. The fried chicken seems to be easily overcooked and can ruin an otherwise great meal. read more

The food was good but I am really disappointed in the service. I went with a group of nurses after our shift, we requested to sit outside and the waiter stated we could only have 3 drinks and then didn't bring us anymore. My whole table ended up taking leftovers home, which were just as delicious later! The parking lot here is small but street parking is also available. Heard alot of a Baltimore staple so decided to check it out finally, and really didn't disappoint. I was a bit worried there would be a wait, but when we arrived around 10 AM on a Saturday and found some street parking easily enough, we were seated almost immediately. The place is spacious. Servers are attentive. Decor is relaxed. Breakfast was served quickly enough. We both had dishes inspired by other parts of the hemisphere. One was Louisiana inspired and the other Jamaica wishful. We both felt that it was decent for people who aren't from those regions. Pancakes were the star of out breakfast. Light and fluffy that we thought next time we need a stack. One note: When we left near 11:30, there was a wait and limited parking. read more

today was our first day trying out miss shirleys! it was an overall excellent experience. mikayla gave us excellent service and was attentive! the chicken and waffles had a different spin. it came with a jalapeño butter which was different but exciting. overall, very good. the southern skillet was a combination of biscuit, gravy, collard greens, and grits i think, and fried chicken. the whipped cream that came with the hot chocolate was fire. very thick and i love that the hot chocolate was actually hot. can't wait to come back here, and i will definitely be recommending this to my family and friends!! read more

Let's put it this way: I no longer live in Baltimore, but whenever I visit, I make it a point to visit Miss Shirley's. It is that good. Brunch today was no exception - our group shared the funky monkey bread (honestly we probably should have gotten it as a dessert) and I had the soft shell crab eggs benedict. I heard about this place a long time ago when I lived in Frederick and was happy when I was finally able to go. My expectations were high and they were absolutely exceeded. They have free parking specifically for the restaurant across the street. The hostess was quite friendly. Our server was Meghan, she greeted us immediately and was quick to tell us about the monthly specials, attentive, fast, and very friendly. I ordered the eggs Benedict, best egg Benedict I've had, simply delicious. My boyfriend had the home made biscuits and said they taste just like his grandma use to make. The manager also stopped by our table to make sure everything was okay. All in all I cannot wait to be back and everything was so great I had to write a review about it! read more

Miss Shirley's is definitely my favorite place for breakfast! Crab and Fried Green Tomato Eggs Benedict.... do I need to say more... absolutely wonderful and the portions are huge! It is southern style food but with Baltimore flare. They also have awesome sweet potato fries, grits and blueberry waffles. I have also been here for lunch and had the Bistro Beef sandwich which was amazing.... beef filet, blue cheese, peppadews, tomato, onion and greens... with a side of mixed fruit. Wow! I am trying to figure out what the fuss is all about with Miss Shirley's. I used to go there when it first opened across the Street and while it was pretty good there I never quite understood the hype but now after going a couple of times I really don't get it. So overpriced for mediocore food. And don't even get me started on how bad the overpriced coffee is. Years ago the chocolate pancakes were made with very high quality chocolate not any more. The prices went up and the servings got smaller. If you want to spend an arm and a leg for brunch I can think of much better places to go and not wait on line but actually have a reservation. read more

I am currently visiting friends in Baltimore and I decided to have breakfast at Miss Shirley's cafe yesterday. The food is really good. It's a bit on the pricey side. But you forget all about that when you taste it. The restaurant is clean and the service is spectacular. I like writing reviews because I believe that a business that works hard at providing great products/services, as well as great customer service, deserves to acknowledged. Oh, Shirley. Everything you do is right. I started with the cheddar grits which came out in under 3 minutes. Um, yes. I then moved on to Shirley's Affair with Oscar. DELISH. Meat perfectly cooked, amazing fried green tomatoes (and I don't even do tomatoes) and legit lump crab meat heaven. Next, I proceeded to try my friend's cinnamon danish waffles with strawberry batter. And make love to the spoon. Then I forgot all shame of gluttony and ordered that too. Again, love was in the air. I'm a student at Loyola from nyc and my family came to see Dave Chappell (who is a frequent visitor of Miss Shirley's), last night, and stopped by today for some breakfast and had Olivia who is a literal goat as our server who recommended some great dishes such as the Hot Honey Chicken Deviled Eggs and made sure we were set from the moment we sat down until we left. Went there today with my Day, who is also a veteran. I was over whelmed by the options as usual, but had lots of questions. Our waiter Bill was very patient and knowledgeable. I was surprised that eggs were $1.99 a piece, but OK. My dad had the stacks, eggs and sausage. I had the blackened turkey burger and the food was amazing. Went here for lunch with a friend, and it was awesome! We both got Shirley's affair with oscar, and was very satisfied with our meals. The steak was tender and juicy, and seasoned just right. The food at Miss Shirley's is great. It is very overpriced, however. And the mimosas were absolutely horrible and expensive. They served us pure orange juice, we couldn't even taste any champagne. My advice is to go to Miss Shirley's once in a while for a special occasion. Otherwise avoid it for more reasonably priced places that make decent mimosas. read more

This is my go-to breakfast spot. You will get a lot of food! The variety of pancakes are great, I love the cinnamon bun ones. The lunch options are good, my favorite of those would be the chopped salad. But the breakfast side of the menu is the best. Don't miss the grits.
