I had the create your own platter with the buffalo wings, fried deviled eggs and Philadelphia steak and cheese rolls. Everything was delicious! My husband had the salmon with the fries and Mac and cheese. He also got the Cajun cream sauce on the side because he was worried it would be spicy but it wasn't. Also delicious. I came here with my family on Easter Sunday. I had previously been to Miss Toya's Creole House in Baltimore and had a great experience so I was excited to come to this location. I wasn't as impressed but the experience was still good. For starters, the restaurant doesn't look fully completed decor wise. They look like they are still painting the walls. Also, the floor was dangerous slippery. A few of my family members almost slipped on our way to the table. I appreciated that we were sat when half of our party arrived. Service was somewhat slow and we had trouble flagging down our waiter when we needed something. We also weren't given drink menus until we asked several times. Also, the waiter forgot to put my food order in so my food came later than everyone else's. The food: -Steak and cheese eggrolls- They weren't my fave. According to the menu, they were supposed to be served with Chipotle mayo but we were given a sweet chili sauce which didn't work with the rolls. -Can't remember the name of the drink I had which wasn't on the menu but it was pretty good. -Salmon BLT was very good! I'm usually excited for Saturdays because I get to enjoy my brunch at Miss Toya's but sadly, I won't be going this morning. My last experience-the food was great however, that Daisy "assistant manager" chick left a bad taste in my mouth. She acted bothered, rolled her eyes, no "customer service" and unwelcoming. We spend nearly $200 for BREAKFAST but can't get a smile, can't get a "thank you for coming" and can't get a walk through asking how everything is??! She should appreciate every single person that walks in there! No. Thank. You. I will be spending my hard earned money, elsewhere. You don't deserve my business. Sitting in Miss Toya's as I write this. Off the top, 20% gratitude is automatically added to the bill. No consideration to the patron if they want to leave a proper tip (maybe more than 20%). I wanted red snapper however, I was informed not only do they not have red snapper but, they don't have chicken and salmon. That's a quarter of the menu. Miss Toyas Southern Kitchen is a great addition to Anne Arundel County. This is my 2nd visit in for brunch and they have made some great changes. They have launched a bottomless brunch + bottomless cocktails option on Saturday and Sundays. We ordered a little bit of everything and every dish delivered. The Creole wings were my favorite, the half-way oysters were fresh and delicious, and the deviled eggs and fried shrimp hit just right. The shrimp & grits were a standout, the French Toast Your Way was amazing, and the honey butter pancakes were fluffy perfection. The snow crab legs were juicy and flavorful, and the Cajun shrimp alfredo was a hit and my husband loved it. We paired it all with bottomless cocktails, including espresso martinis and strawberry mimosas, and every drink was goo! we definitely left buzzed. They also have live jazz so it's a vibe. Okaaaay Miss Toya's! My mentee and I came here for a dinner before she traveled back to campus for the semester and she wanted to come here for our last meal together. I made reservations via Open Table without issue, and she arrived first (the reservation was in my name), and she had no issue being seated without me being present. She and I actually ordered the same thing (which ugh - I actually hate when this happens), but we both loved these menu staples! The fried catfish, mashed potatoes and a Caesar salad. Loved them both! & I would love to return. We wanted to try Miss Toyas on Gambrills, Md for lunch. We went in, it wasn't packed, but I could tell they would get busy rather quickly due to the foot traffic coming in. The Bar staff looked like they were still setting up and prepping and the Hostess sat us right by the door. Needless to say, we were freezing, but the music was nice. The waitress came and helped us make accommodations to our order and food, which was nice. The drink was good and larger than I expected. It took longer thank I thought it should've to make the food, and originally they brought out the wrong dish(pasta) when it should've been gumbo, but my grilled fish sandwich and fries was no where in sight. After it was sent back and replaced with the correct dish all the food returned in about 5-10 mins or so. The gumbo was salty and the fish was bland. The food didn't taste like anything, then we asked for the bill. On the menu it says there's a gratuity for parties if 4 and another for parties of 6. However the girl informed us that they charge the gratuity amount for parties of 6, for everyone. That is not what the menu states or reflects. I'm still mad I didn't get a picture of this gumbo! I had been craving real Creole gumbo and did way too much research trying to find the right spot. Safe to say... I picked the right one. This bowl had chicken, shrimp, and crab, and the seasoning was on point. Rich, flavorful, and exactly what I was hoping for. Honestly, it didn't stand a chance I finished the entire bowl in one sitting... along with the collard greens. My first 5 star dining experience of the New Year and I couldn't be more excited to write this review and tell everyone all about it. I've been to 2 different Miss Toyas restaurants (Silver Springs & Baltimore) so when I found this location 20 mins from Maryland Live Casino Resort, I just had to go have lunch here today. This location is also located in a shopping center like the other two visited, so parking wasn't a problem. Staffing was short today but we still were able to be seated quickly. The restaurant is not really large but very clean. Due to them being short staffed, we were seated and served by their newly appointed GM. I'll get into his A1 customer service shortly but I'll start off witg the food. It was 5 of us total, so we ordered a little bit of everything and shared amoungst each other. We had the Chargrilled Oysters, Hot Honey Lemon Pepper Wings, Cajun Wings, Lamb Chops, Mac & Cheese, Sweet Potatoes, Fried Devil Eggs, Steak & Cheese Egg Rolls, Jerk Chicken Eggs Rolls, Gumbo w/ Crab Leg on Top, hot Honey Salmon Bites, Cornbread, Spinach Dip, Banana Pudding, and Bread Pudding. Everything was great. The only thing we weren't too crazy about was the crab leg on top of the gumbo but everything else was so good. To drink, we all had the hurricanes. They were sooo good but dont get it twisted, they will sneak up on you so dont let the sweetness fool you lol. We also had the blueberry iced tea, which became MY FAVORITE drink. Now onto the service, the GM Shamikh has some of the most amazing customer service I've ever received. He was attentive, entertaining, friendly, and extremely accommodating. He made many recommendations and went out of his way to make sure we tried new things we hadn't tried at the other locations we previously visited. Everything came out in a timely manner. We have been talking about our visit today since we left and cannot wait to go back. We will definately be calling ahead to ensure Shamikh is there before we come because he made our experience everything it was. For anyone hesitent about visiting this place, dont be. The chicken was cold and dry, the Mac was great, and cabbage was cold bland. My niece had salmon, greens, and Mac n cheese. We stopped at Miss Toya's on our way back from Baltimore, and they were able to accommodate walk-in's, though the space is small so if you're able to make a reservation I would recommend that. Having never been we didn't realize that on a Sunday the brunch menu is only bottomless with no other options. The plates are rather big, and it would be nice if the places were smaller so that way you are able to try more foods. We got their style of bang bang shrimp, blueberry cornbread, and the shrimp and grits. My favorite was the blueberry cornbread and the shrimp. If in the area, check them out, but definitely have an appetite for the larger sized portions. read more

I was there with my party today and it was one of the worst experiences I have ever had service wise. The server was not engaged at all. Although it was busy that was not the reason he was inattentive because he passed by our table numerous times before taking our order. He never checked to see if our order was ok and it took him literally over 40 minutes to bring the tab and another 10 minutes to close out our check despite the fact the crowd had died down considerably. I don't mind that a 20% tip is automatically added to every check but the way he was serving my party made me feel like he knew he didn't have to work for the gratuity. We had been looking forward to visiting and supporting Miss Toya's Southern Kitchen in Gsmbrills. My catfish was good, the greens were great and my husband's chicken was a little too hard; this is consistent with other reviews we've seen about it. What we found disconcerting was the automatic gratuity of 20 percent added to our check. The service was fine, but not the 20 percent added to our check. Once we questioned this, the server asked if we wanted her to take it off. This led us to believe that the server may have arbitrarily added the tip. Whatever the case, an automatic tip should never be added to a party of two. It was either she sized us up as less-than-generous tippers or she overestimated the service, which was adequate, but not exceptional. My advice, whether this is arbitrary or intentional, is to leave the tip to the guest. Sadly, at the end of a meal, it was THIS practice that left a bitter taste in our mouths. read more

Starting out with a very welcoming atmosphere the host was polite and we were seated immediately. We had the fried deviled eggs with crab meat on top and I wish there was more because I could've just eaten that alone all day long. You can taste the creole influence in every bite you take. My husband got the shrimp and grits which had a number of huge delicious shrimp in it and again, the flavors and presentation of this dish are unmatched from my experience. I had the chicken and waffles. The waffle is huge and drizzled with warm butter honey and the chicken was so tender and juice I could almost cut it with a fork. Went to Miss Toya's for brunch with a girlfriend and had an okay experience. We both ordered the steak and eggs and it was overcooked, which was disappointing and we had to send it back. On the bright side, the French toast we ordered was really good and ended up being the best part of the meal. Maybe we went on an off day, because I was excited to try this place and was expecting more based on other reviews. Service and atmosphere were fine, but the food was a bit hit or miss. I ordered the salmon with Mac and collard greens...Salmon was overcooked...chewy like a well done steak, the only thing that made it manageable was the sauce...the Mac n cheese was lukewarm and the cheese would not pull apart, and the collards smh they were not washed properly, you can still taste the grains/dirt on them! My wife had the snapper which was decent but the sides (creole rice and cabbage were terrible!) I was truly disappointed in this experience as I have heard good things about the silver spring location. I didn't complain to my waiter about the meal, just paid the tab and left. She then went to the back and sent someone else out. The last time I ate there I felt the pasta was sour but I said I'd give them a chance. I had planned a girls brunch in Advance and we decided to do the R&B brunch on April 11 because I had heard some amazing things about Miss Toya's kitchen so when me and my guest arrive, which it was six of us we weren't greeted. We were just handing some menus and a table to sit. we sat there for about 20-25 minutes. It's not busy before the waiter came to the table and asks did we want any drinks or what we're getting no one was smiling or pleasant. They all just look like they just there no hospitality or personality so we all agreed to do the unlimited brunch and unlimited cocktails and mimosas because he had explained to us if one gets that we all had to it OK so myself I ordered a espresso martini this cough and a gentleman brought it to the table is spilling out the glass. The presentation was horrible no napkins no apology just sitting on the table walk away as it wasted on table an menu ginger ale was flat so I formed the waiter that I did not want to drink because how it was presented to me didn't look appealing and food comes it's always spilling off the bowl. It's not presentable to be serving for anybody so we declined the food. I asked to speak to a manager took about 25 to 35 minutes to come to the table. He wasn't even apologetic he just looked at us funny and we had explained to him we weren't happy with the service he didn't offer a situation so we declined to pay the bill and we didn't want the service and we didn't eat food or drinks I said no one was apologetic. It was a waste of time. The atmosphere it was9 horrible. I don't know about the R&B brunch, but that wasn't It and like I said this was our first time there and this was the worst experienced ever I will never visit this location ever again. They need better workers or train the staff better but if the staff can stand around and make TikTok videos they can serve the people that's waiting. No one smiling no one looks presentable. Before I get to why this is a 2-star review of the Miss Toya's in that large shopping complex in Crofton/Gambrills, the positives first. The hostess and server were pleasant, someone I assume was a manager came by at one point to check on my friend and me, the restaurant was clean and attractive, and the background music was good. My grilled pork chops with gravy, spinach, and cabbage were all delicious, and I look forward to eating the leftovers. My friend said the grilled salmon was good and the yams were decent. However, my friend said the macaroni with five cheeses wasn't very good and the sweet tea tasted off. When we were ready to pay, the server said she couldn't separate our bills so we gave her permission to split the bill evenly and use our bank cards to pay for half each. Inconvenient but not a major problem. But my friend added a tip before noticing that a 20% "large party" gratuity had already been added. So, I didn't tip further. Shortly after I got home about 45-50 minutes away in Virginia, I thought about it and decided to call to verify that the establishment indeed considers two people a large group. There's an address but no phone number on the receipt, and the number I found online has a recording that indicates it's an invalid number. All of these things added up to enough issues to warrant 2 stars. This is a service review. Food was good no complaints there but the service was horrible. Or server was Andre avoid him if you can. The place was not busy at all and was at probably 10% capacity. It took us 15 mins to be seated or greeted even though there were two staff members talking to each other right in front of us at the hostess podium. They were more concerned about their convo than helping seat us. A manager had to come up front to seat us which was unacceptable. She didn't address them for not doing their job. Again, Andre was our server. He did not check up on us often at all and a few times I had to get up out of my seat to go look for him. He got our order wrong and dos not check on you. Three friends and I arrived at the restaurant in Gambrills, Maryland at 11:30am. From the outside, the restaurant looked closed with the shades drawn and two big locks hanging on the handles. Through the doors, we could see lights on inside, but no diners or workers were visible. One of us pulled on the door and it opened. We went in and there was no one in the restaurant. Speaking out loud, we asked each other, "are they open; what time do they open". At about that time, a worker came from the closed doors in the back and started walking toward us. I said, "Good morning" and got no response. As the worker got closer to me, I said it again, again no response. The worker came to the reception desk and asked if it was 4 of us. I said yes and she gathered the menus and took us to the nearest table and told us that our server would be with us in a moment. The worker seemed irritated that we were there. We were the first guests for the day although the restaurant opened at 11:00am. A server did come to the table and introduced herself, asked what we wanted to drink and left to fill that order. First impression: The restaurant by its appearance is unremarkable although it is clean and new. The colors are black and white and the workers dress in black. The lightning at 11:30 am is low and makes the restaurant look closed. A sign designating the location of the restrooms is missing. (The restrooms were clean and neat) While we were seated, a worker came to place the floor mat beside the door long after the restaurant had been opened for business. I think a sign or some notice out front that the restaurant "is open" would be helpful. Second impression: The workers need further training. No one said, "Welcome to Ms. Toya's restaurant" or gave recommendations of dishes that might appeal to us. Our server did not tell us anything about the food. I asked for a salad without croutons. The server told me croutons did not come with the salad, and I told her they were included with the ingredients listed for the salad on the menu. She then indicated that they once were included but no longer were. When my friend's salad came (the same as I had ordered), hers had croutons sitting on top of the salad. Third impression: We ordered two Crispy Chicken House salads, one Crispy Chicken House Salad with No chicken, 1 Seafood Shrimp basket and one Honey Caribbean Salmon salad. The Chicken salads came with Champagne Vinaigrette salad dressing per the menu. The server brought out some kind of ranch dressing. We had to ask for the Vinaigrette dressing for our salads. The salad greens were fresh and plentiful, and the fries were hot. There was no offer of ketchup, and none was on the table. The food was brought to the table by hand by the servers. Where are the trays so that food can be placed on them to bring to the table? Two of us were visiting the restaurant for the second time. During that first visit, my friend ordered the stuffed shrimp that had a pinch of crab meat in the stuffing and was encased in a thick breading. My friend described it as, "The worst ever!" The server that day was superb! On this visit we waited quite a while for the server to bring our check. We were not offered dessert or asked if we wanted anything to drink other than the water we initially ordered. Please note that during our time there, five people came into the restaurant, two in one party and three in the second party. The restaurant was not busy! We finally were given the check with the "small party gratuity of 15% "included. Again, no one thanked us for coming or invited us to come again when we left. Would I recommend Ms. Toya's restaurant? Based on this experience, I would not recommend it and my friends, and I will not be going back. read more
