The red snapper. The yucca fries were pretty good
    Shantel B.

I tried this spot out during the week to see how the happy hour was. I got the wings and fry combo that came with an alcoholic drink, which I liked the seafood egg rolls and then finally a entrée of the red snapper. While the drinks were good, very well made, and the environment was pretty good. TVs had the World Cup on. The music was booming. I could've stand for it to have come down a few notches but still able to hold a conversation. The damper on my experience was the red snapper. It took more than 30 minutes for it to come out when it arrive to me it was an overly fishy smell, and the flavor was not good at all. It made me feel as though they were trying to quickly thaw out the fish and then rushed it's preparation because it was not good at all. In fact, I took two bites and had her take it off the bill had I not gotten that red snapper it would have been a pretty decent experience.

Since it was my first time dining here, the bartender took the time to thoroughly explain the menu, pointing out both the restaurant's favorites and his personal recommendations. That was a nice touch. For my drink, I ordered the Honeydew Daze. It was delicious and definitely strong, in the best way! I started with the deviled eggs. They were good but needed a little more seasoning, such as salt, to really make the flavors pop. The candied bacon was the standout and paired really well with the eggs. For my entrée, I had the short rib pizza. I really enjoyed it, especially the rich, fatty pieces of short rib that added so much flavor to each bite. One thing to note is that there's a $1 surcharge for paying with a credit card. It's not a dealbreaker, but I think it's something customers should be made aware of before they pay. The vibe was laid-back and relaxing. It was spacious, not overly busy, and I really loved the farmhouse-style doors and décor, they gave the restaurant a cozy, rustic feel. Overall, the service was great, the food was enjoyable, and I'd definitely come back to try more items on the menu.

I don't recall what item she got, but I always kept it in the back of my mind. I am rarely in this area. One of my best friends just moved nearby with his wife, and my girlfriend and I were hungry after visiting. On the way to another spot, I spotted it and we agreed to give it a try. There were some nice tables outside, but we decided to sit at the bar once we checked in at the host stand. At the time, there were only two empty ones on the end, but the people next to us soon left. There was a phone charging right in front of where I was sitting, it wasn't long before the guy belonged to politely unplugged it and said that we could use the charger if we needed to. I'm guessing he was the owner. We got menus I looked over what we might have wanted. I was a little surprised by how expensive the tacos were, I was like geez we're not even in DC haha. The drinks were first. They have a variety of margaritas, and I opted for the spicy hibiscus and it was fantastic. My girlfriend got the mezcal brandy one which was very strong. For food, I was debating between crab shrimp and mole enchiladas. I usually don't get them because I find them too cheesy (as a pizza lover, I know). But I was feeling adventurous. The lady said to try the seafood ones, so I did. That sauce was immaculate. I haven't had a lot of enchiladas, but I do know that these were the best I have had to date. We shared taquitos too which were good. Yeah, based on this experience I would definitely come back. I recommend it to anyone in the area too!

The posole was excellent and almost as good as the kind your favorite aunt makes. The refried beans were creamy perfection. The tortillas felt handmade and the barbacoa was authentic. Even the brunch burger was a win. And of course, the margaritas, mezcalitas, and micheladas were excellent. The guacamole was a little one note, but the chips were thick and crispy and salty. This is also the kind of place that delivers squeeze bottles of red and green salsa with the meal, which is always a good indicator of a great Mexican place, in my opinion.

It's a Caribbean spot with a full brunch menu, so yes, the food takes a little time... but that's part of the experience, not a flaw. Given the size of our party, the service held its own. It was steady, attentive, and friendly without feeling rushed--which honestly matched the vibe perfectly. If you come in expecting lightning-fast turnaround, you're in the wrong mindset. Come to enjoy your time. Now let's talk food. I ordered the steak, and it did not disappoint--well-seasoned, flavorful, and cooked just right. But the real surprise? That biscuit and butter. Listen... I could've made a whole meal out of that alone. And the mimosas? Nice and light--exactly how our group likes them. I didn't get the oxtail and grits, but I didn't need to. One look across the table told me everything I needed to know--full-on bowl-to-the-chin action. If you know, you know. It wasn't overly crowded for a Sunday, but the weather had randomly dipped back into winter mode after teasing us with 80 degrees, so I'll give them that. Overall, great experience. Good food, solid service, and a vibe that encourages you to sit, sip, and stay awhile. Exactly what brunch should be.

Not strong but just what I needed to take that drive back home. We both ordered the Po boy shrimp sliders. It came with fries. Also ordered the shrimp egg rolls. I hear they have performers here at times. Also would love to check out the drag brunch. Happy hour menu is very reasonable. Would love to return for the entertainment. Just keep in mind the restaurant is small. I could see it getting really crowded on a busy day. I still would return though. I enjoyed my visit.

I was a first timer and she's been once before. Given the name, I figured it was a seafood restaurant. Although some seafood is on the menu, Pier 99 is primarily a Sushi/Asian food restaurant. I think a name change should be in order.. Lol! I literally had to switch up my taste buds to partake in some sushi! I ordered a seafood boil because I couldn't switch them up fast enough while she ordered sushi. I actually love the concept because so many people aren't sushi fans but most folks get down with seafood! The food was actually good and they pulled off both cuisines effortlessly! My margarita was as good as any chain Mexican restaurant, so that was additional plus given the Mexican holiday. The interior is on the smaller side, however, they offer booth seating and it has a decent size bar. If I lived in the Upper Marlboro/Bowie area like I used to, I'd come here often but since I don't, I'll occasionally stop in when I'm in the area! Good job Pier 99!

I wasn't as impressed but the experience was still good. For starters, the restaurant doesn't look fully completed decor wise. They look like they are still painting the walls. Also, the floor was dangerous slippery. A few of my family members almost slipped on our way to the table. I appreciated that we were sat when half of our party arrived. Service was somewhat slow and we had trouble flagging down our waiter when we needed something. We also weren't given drink menus until we asked several times. Also, the waiter forgot to put my food order in so my food came later than everyone else's. The food: -Steak and cheese eggrolls- They weren't my fave. According to the menu, they were supposed to be served with Chipotle mayo but we were given a sweet chili sauce which didn't work with the rolls. -Can't remember the name of the drink I had which wasn't on the menu but it was pretty good. -Salmon BLT was very good! Fries were perfectly crispy. Overall, good food but not the best experience. I don't think I'll be back to this location.
