We had two orders. One of the briskets and one spare rib. They each came with corn bread and we ordered a side of beans. The brisket was quite good and we will order that again. The spare ribs as OP mentioned are too salty. Lots of it were so dried that it was like eating jerky or cured meat. About the too salty... my body keeps urging me to refill and drink that ice-cold-water. It's now mid-night and I've drank so much water that my stomach is bloated and I feel nauseous - I'm hoping it's just from drinking too much water. If you have high blood pressure, stay away from the spare ribs! I will never order the spare ribs again. read more

Had a date night with my wife here and holy brisket was it good! My wife had her BBQ standby: pulled pork sandwich. Sampling some of the meat, that was the best pulled park I've had in a long time. I chose the Chopped Brisket sandwich - a heaping pile of meat marinated in their Memphis Belle sauce. It was "slap yo mamma good." The green beans with bacon were a no-brainer side. Everyone would eat string beans if prepared this way. Maggie's Mac-n-Cheese ain't out of a box. Melt in your mouth pasta and cheese. Even the side of baked beans is hearty. Nothing whimpy about their beans! The staff is amazingly friendly: from the door greeter, to the counter, to the floor manager who even got Kim and I a banana pudding to sample. Even that seasonal dessert was delish! Seriously, don't walk. Run to try this place. Give to the Wounded Warrior Project and get a big take home cup. Extra kudos for two different staff wondering if either of us served in the military. So impress to see a business be supportive of our service men and women! read more

What a disappointment to see how Mission BBQ has changed. Stopped in after a long absence... moved out of Maryland so was looking forward to lunch at the Columbia location. Place was nearly empty. Most disappointing was the service. Might seem like a small thing but their soda fountains had no carbonation. Okay, I can deal with that, but when I mentioned to what seemed like a manager there, I got a strong rude reaction with tons of negative attitude, and was told "I can't do anything about that now." I remember when this location opened... what was remarkable was how great the service was. Sorry to see them decline. Maybe that's a reason the restaurant was empty at noon? read more

I would say 3.5 star would be most accurate. Food is consistent and not bad. What irks me is that if you go in there 60 minutes or less before closing, they are already cleaning up the place. It's just not like they are roping off a section of seating to clean and get ahead when no crowd is there. No, they are wiping stiff down in the kitchen and cleaning the fountain drink section which includes taking apart some of the beverage machines. I am sorry, but you shouldn't make people feel rushed and people shouldn't have to worry about someone using cleaner and using rags to wipe down kitchen area and then wonder if they got back into the food prep function. Wow! A huge thank you to the staff at this location namely Becky and Logan tor their excellent customer service. It's was my first time there and I had an amazing experience from start to finish. They welcomed me. Becky explained true menu to me in full detail. The rest of the staff was kind and polite and helpful. Everyone was smiling. The food is on point. You have to try the brisket. The highlight of my experience for lunch was the presence of "Janice" our dining room manager. She was a real joy! I was not satisfied with my "lean brisket" . When she checked on us I told her I must have miss ordered and she immediately said we will make it right and brought me the Juicy brisket". She was very attentive to our needs and even brought us a sample dessert. She was delightful and very knowledgeable as she has been in the food business for many years. Every mission Barbecue restaurant restaurant needs a Janice who can teach other employees what real hospitality looks like and knows what the phrase "the customer is always right! " means. I was taught this at a young age at my grandfathers grocery store We have many barbecue restaurants in our southern town. I've frequented mission bbq many many times including this particular one in Columbia. But never have I had such a horrible experience. First off the fries were dry and tasted old, then I get to the turkey, and there was a bone in it that I almost choked on. Then I get to the pulled chicken which was very dry as well, and not "pulled" very well. Lots of big pieces, the food was so dry that I could barely swallow it read more

Two days after my apartment fire, I was in this shopping center with Target & Old Navy. I had to get clothes since I had only brought one set of clothes with me and wasn't driving to VA. After going to Old Navy, I saw the Mission BBQ and thought BBQ sounded good on this rain cooled Monday, 8/7 night. I took this to go and took back to the Columbia Homewood Suites to eat for dinner. The mac n' cheese was excellent as was the BBQ. The staff was friendly answering my questions about a couple of the items and let me sample the mac n' cheese since I'm a bit of a mac n' cheese snob. The mac n' cheese was maybe the best I've had in the DC-Baltimore area. Additionally, I got sweet tea, which was great. Additionally, I noticed on the to go bag that they support first responders (fire & police). They advertised that first responders get a free sandwich on 9/11. I always think it's nice when a business gives back to the community in some way especially to heroes. One more interesting note to add was when before I wrote this review, coworkers & I were just talking how great this place at lunchtime today, 12/6. Unfortunately, there isn't one right by my office in the Halethorpe/Lansdowne area. This Columbia location I think is the closest from here. read more

The 2stars are for the cashier who was extremely pleasant. Spent $40 for lunch. Ribs were so dry that even with the sauce we added they were like jerky. They tasted like dried leftovers. We order here a lot and this was the worst we've had here. Definitely not fresh. We ended up throwing all but 2 ribs we tried away. I Don't recommend. This was supposed to be a special lunch for someone. Wish I had my money back to order elsewhere. A shame. read more

I am so used to having ok or bad service at chained restaurants. The employees go out of their way to make sure all of the customers are satisfied. I love it (but also may be intimidated by it). Anyway, the food is awesome. I get the moist brisket sandwich and my boyfriend gets the pulled chicken sandwich. We are always satisfied when we leave. It's wasn't too crazy in their menu but honestly, why would you try to mess up perfectly good bbq by putting a spin on it. The classics are best. The restaurant is in a very good location. Been to a couple locations. Always consistent, food quality excellent, service friendly and fast. If there is a line, it moves quick. Have also had catering food as well- goos portions and food is great. I know if I go regardless of location I will have a good meal. Only down side- some locations don't offer beer. This is the best bbq chain that I've ever been to. Since I work nearby, I've had work lunches catered by Mission which means I've gotten to try everything. My favorite meat is the brisket, followed by the pulled pork. The brisket has a nice smokey flavor and the pulled pork is covered in seasoning (still helps to add sauce). My go to sides have been coleslaw and baked beans. My favorite sauce has been the smokey mountain followed by texas twang. I prefer the smokey texas style bbq over the southern mustardy vinegary bbqs but they have sauces for both bbq types. read more

I visited this Mission BBQ at primetime-- noon on a weekday afternoon. I was impressed by the quick service despite the relatively lengthy line. The staff was incredibly nice and welcoming when I arrived at the register to order. Although I ordered to-go, I was still impressed by receiving my food within 5 minutes. I ordered a salad while my friend ordered about 3 separate orders of pulled pork and chicken. I especially liked how they show you the food before you take it home. This helps avoid any mistakes they may have made.
