Decided to visit this spot on a whim as we were near the area. For me bbq is as much as it is about the meat, the sides have to match and this spot was a miss. The mac and cheese was dry and lacking flavor, the cornbread also dry and not a hint of sweetness and the cole slaw again dry and no spice whatsoever. An outstanding place to get barbecue! The product is always consistent no matter which Mission BBQ you go to. The brisket is a staple and always nice and moist. The pulled pork is equally as good. Ordered about 45.00 worth of food yesterday and too small of portions that seem to have gotten smaller with time compared to 3 years ago. I should have taken a pic of the slices. The brisket slice was about 1inch vertical (short) and about 3 inch long horizontal. So tiny. There was a fine black hair about 1.5 inches long in my brisket mixed in with the fatty part of the brisket and I am AA so I know it was not my type hair. The baby back ribs were super salty and oily and tasted like they had been baked with an artificial smokey porky marinade. A little bit overrated and not worth it in my honest opinion but the area doesn't have a lot of choices and they have a great cause so I understand why it is popular. Two of our BBQ sauces seemed a bit old as they had gelled together like a grape jelly and was kind of gross. Quality has gone downhill as well and just not worth the price anymore. The food smelled better than it tasted. They will always be in business due to their great cause and small family like feel but unfortunately the food is not that great and average at best. So glad there is a BBQ restaurant in this area. The barbecue is great! It's an order and sit restaurant making it fast to get your food. I come here to order brisket, I normally get a 2 meat combos, which includes 2 choices of regular meats and a side. Can't beat the price it about $10! I like how lean the brisket is here and the flavor for the classic sausage is great with all the seasoning they blend in it. I normally come for Mac and cheese but I tried something different the cheese potatoes. It like a chunky mash with a lot of cheese! One thing they have is great is the choices of sauces. From Texas to Carolina flavor. If you don't know they also have a white sauce that you can ask for it has a horseradish flavor. I enjoy the atmosphere here also. my first time there, I was about to faint from hunger when I drove by, and of course the wonderful aroma of BBQ, parking a bit tight but it is not "mission" impossible to park, the inside of the restaurant brought tears to my eyes, all the military/ law enforcement memorabilia really gets to you, the food was awesome, the staff so cordial, it was just a wonderful experience hat took me back twice more. Pretty decent barbecue for south Florida. I actually worked at a barbecue so I'm pretty picky about it. So far I've had the brisket and the pulled pork, they're pretty good. But you definitely need sauce because it seems dry. Good thing they have sauce selection on the table. My fave was the Memphis belle it was a tangy and sweet kick to it. I'm eager to try their turkey and pulled chicken next. I wish they had a loyalty program or something. But none the less, great food and good service.
