Had dinner last night, got the brisket which wasn't that tender or at all moist (I ordered moist) very salty. Ordered the 5 St. Louis ribs, came out uncut...do your customers a favor and cut the ribs down, instead of having to use a plastic knife to do it myself, tacky. Taste was just...OK. MISSION BBQ - Gainesville Va - Went for lunch 7 Dec 2020 - social distancing and masks were required. I was not impressed with the Mission BBQ in Chantilly, however this is where my friends wanted to go, so I gave the Gainesville a shot. Staff were very helpful and inviting. I am very glad that we did, ordered the brisket sandwich with fries and beans. 1200hrs - outstanding for the standing National Anthem. Portion was HUGE and the taste - very nice just like low and slow should be. The meat was right on point, I have to say impressed by the quality and taste. The only thing I can ding them for is small amount of fries with my order, it was less than half of the amount that my friend got with his meal, guess they were helping me with my pre-holiday diet. I will be back to Gainesville again to ensure that this was not a onetime thing. May go back before the new admin shuts everything down again. read more

I have been to numerous Mission BBQ locations and the quality is great at every one. What I usually get is the Moist Beef Brisket and the Mac n Cheese. Both are really REALLY good. The corn bread is sweet and almost like cake, yum. Out of the BBQ sauces Memphis Belle and Texas Twang are 2 of my favorites. Do yourself a favor and go to a Mission BBQ. read more

Went there for military appreciation meal and to buy meals for my kids. Had there food before and it was pretty good. Was told that we get a free peach cobbler for military appreciation and not a sandwich like the 10 signs around the restaurant says. Food was cold and ok for what I paid for. This veteran will not be going back. They are supposedly military friendly but I'm not seeing that! They need to train their employees better if they are gonna support the military. read more

WTF?!?! Just left this establishment only to find that the staff were not aware of the military appreciation. In short, we paid for a meal so as not to look like we just wanted to take advantage as we were already planning on buying meals for our kids. After trying to explain to the blonde girl that their sign says active members and veterans receive a free sandwich, she continued to tell us that the only thing available is a peach cobbler. Came here for lunch and was not disappointed. I have never heard of this place but coworkers told me it was a chain resistant so I did not know what to expect. I kept it simple and ordered moist brisket with green beans and cole slaw. Food came out very quick of course and was really good. I like how they had all the different sauce options for you right at the table. Lemonade and iced tea were also good to wash it down. I was a little apprehensive about trying a chain BBQ spot b/c after having Buzz and Ned's I mean really where do you go?! But MBBQ came through! We walked in, there were plenty of places to sit (large tables, booths & high tops). We got our order in and literally by the time I filled my cup with my lemonade and sierra mist mix, our food was ready. Talk about FAST. I got the chopped brisket sandwich & mac n cheese. My husband ordered the meat sampler with chicken, brisket & turkey w/ coleslaw on the side & corn bread. It's nice they offer turkey and even salmon for all my healthy homies out there. Everything was delicious, if I had to nit pick a bit here the brisket had pieces that were too tough to chew. My husband said the same thing about his brisket we also didn't care for the corn bread. The turkey was surprisingly good and the chicken was yummy. I think the best part was the sauces at the table for your BBQ sauce tasting-pleasure to try with all your meats. If your expecting sticky bottles that haven't been replaced in who knows how long, you'll be happy to know that you will WANT to actually go for it and grab a bottle. Came here with my dad and little brother for lunch and was pleasantly surprised with how many other people were also here on a weekend day. I ordered the two meat combo with brisket and pulled pork with two sides: macaroni and cheese and baked beans. I was blown away with the flavors of the meat but I wished it wasn't as cold. The baked beans were amazing and the macaroni was pretty good but I may opt for a different side next time. I have been here several times and it has become my favorite BBQ in the area. I have tried the pulled chicken and pork and the brisket.  I have yet to be disappointed with any of the choices. The service is quick, once your order is in, it is ready within a couple minutes. They keep sauces on the tables which is great to have access to and try them all out without having to go to a counter and fill up a little cup.  Convenient!   A small bonus on the side is that I am rather pleased that they have a parking spot reserved for veterans right by the building. They really support not only the military, but the Police, Fire and Emergency services departments. I am grateful to have this establishment close to home. read more

Yay! I'm a fan. I loooove bbq but I was hesitant since Mission is a chain, fast-casual spot. The decor is very patriotic, with all the military references and art work. I'm sure people in this area love it. The kids behind the counter seem like they were working for the first time in their life. When I asked the girl on the register how I was supposed to order, she said she likes the Mac and Cheese??? (LOL but she was right, it's pretty good) The price and portions are reasonable and comparable to your other fast casual places like Chipotle. Food didn't take too long to prepare since most of it is probably ready. I really liked the brisket and pulled pork which was juicy and super tender. I didn't like any of the bbq sauces, though, which was a huge disappointment. They were either too sour or too smokey. WOW!! This was our first visit to Mission BBQ... and, we will definitely be back! I had the brisket and my husband the pork!! We shared a couple sides: Coleslaw,Green Beans, &Collard Greens !! David was really nice... great customer service!! When he heard it was our first visit, he brought us a few extra "sampler" sides: cornbread, baked beans... they were also really good!! & to top everything off... he brought us a apple dumpling sampler! First time tried this new BBQ, tried pulled pork and side potato salad, portions are good on sandwich but not the side bit small. Good effort but needs to upfront identify with types of bbq by region, NC, TX , MO... I asked for NC type and was told by casher they only have one flavor, then later a manager stopped by to ask my opinion, I was honest in that my pulled pork was dry and though flavor Ok, he theb said they did have NC after all, he proceeded to bring me another sandwich, little better but not authentic NC like Willards. I will give them another try since so convenient on town center when going to a movie. The managment is very nice and values customers opinions. My final advice is they should work on dialing in the pulled pork especiall the NC, needs more vinegar and brown sugar perhaps. read more

I really want to like this place. But the cashier girl got like three orders wrong and ended up finding out after I already got home. The brisket was ok. It was better than The Bone on a bad day but not as good as The Bone on a good day. I got "moist" but there was absolutely no fat (come on, fat makes brisket so much better) and a bit dry. Baked beans tasted like beans in a bbq sauce. But really enjoyed their Mac n cheese and sausage. Pulled pork lacked some flavors and were a bit dry as well. But people who worked there seem friendly and one of the guys in the back, an olde guy who seemed like a manager, was on top of things correcting one of my order that the cashier girl wrongly put. Pros: Atmosphere was awesome especially the helmets and uniforms of the service academies as well as Prince William's finest; the selection of sauces were spectacular, I especially enjoyed the Smokey Mountain while the kids like KC's Classic; the pulled pork is some of the best that I've had, even better than Dixie Bones; my kids got a kick out of the trough in the men's room and the decorations were also cool to see; Buck Beer for $2 and tonight was Natty Light... My fiancé and I stopped in because the smells coming from the building were mouth-watering. They'd literally only been open for 24 hours but they seem like old pros. The quickest, kindest service we've received from a brand new restaurant ever. Everyone from the cashier to what I assume were the managers were so nice and willing to explain the menu. We were literally back two days later. The Mac and Cheese is REAL BAKED macaroni. Not that awful stove top stuff and the meat was so tender. Best part? The bbq sauces. I have to admit, Mission BBQ does a really good job keeping BBQ exciting, with seasonal sides, seasonal BBQ specialties and even seasonal sweet treats. The food is consistent between locations as well, having eaten at several locations over the past year. They have a nice selection of BBQ'd meats and their sauces are amazing. They even have a hot BBQ sauce that has a lot of heat, but still has tons of flavor! Overall, I enjoy eating at Mission BBQ when I can. The place is very clean, the staff is always very friendly and they support "the mission!" The only two gripes I've got are their prices are too high, especially for the small portions you get. The other grip is that they go out of their way to thank those who serve (first responders & military), but they don't offer discounts. Many other restaurants recognizes first responders with really generous discounts... Mission charges enough and is always busy enough that they definitely wouldn't go broke by offering a little discount. read more

Great bbq place! I love how they respect our military as well. The service and food are always spectacular here! I always get the turkey platter and it is so good with the Alabama white sauce. My husband always gets a variety of things and he loves them all. The baked beans and cheddar mashed potatoes are to die for! We tried the seasonal caramel bread pudding and it was fantastic. Every single time I order the "moist" brisket its dryer than an old lady's wig. Might as well just put sand in my mouth instead. I havent tried anything else except the brisket so maybe they have some good stuff but definitely do not order the brisket. You will be disappointed 90% of the time because i did get a nice moist one once but it was only once. read more

Have you ever eaten a meal and wished you hadn't. Unfortunately that was our experience today at Mission BBQ. We arrived at the Gainesville location about 3:30 on Monday Sept . 19 . We ordered our usual. Wife hade a sliced brisket sandwich and I had a pulled pork. Unfortunately the brisket was so dry it just crumbled. I took it back to the counter. They brought another sandwich swimming in grease. My wife ate a few bites and that was it . We left. We are big fans of Mission but today was a total disappointment. I can only hope things improve or we will have to go else where. I have sent hundreds of people to Mission and I hope they were satisfied. read more
