Mission BBQs always amaze me. I've been to a few and they are all the same, friendly people, quick service, and great food. I don't understand how they can have good quality food but also have your food to you in like 2 minutes, it's crazy and amazing. While traveling back home we happened to stop here. Never heard of them but wont forget them now. Food was delicious hubby cleaned his place and I almost was able to finish mine but serving sizes were pretty good. Service was great, John was walking around and making sure we understood sauces and had everything we needed. We even got to try something we didn't order. Mission BBQ catered our daughter's 2019 wedding and hit it out of the park. Wedding food never tasted so good! Terri, the catering manager, was simply amazing in her energy, attitude and helpfulness. Based on our initial wedding tasting a few months prior to the wedding, we knew the food would be good, but honestly, it surpassed our expectations by a mile. He chatted with us for a bit and then came by with fresh-from-the oven chocolate chip cookies (a "sample," but it was a whole cookie). Called at 3:51 to place an order. Kid on the phone didn't seem like he knew what was going on and clearly didn't know the menu. At one point i said I wanted rolls added to the order he laughed at me and said "the what?". It was an awkward ordering process. At the end the kid says when can we expect you.... how about you tell me when to get it. I don't know how busy you are. I show up to pick up my order except the kid never actually took my order. He just acted like he put it in. They had no order under my name and apparently no memory of the order. I walked out angry and told them to forget it. I call in to ask why this kid pretended to take my order without ever actually putting in the order, the kid hung up on me. read more

This was an incredible BBQ spot and I can't wait to go back to visit my family just to eat here again! I live in the Deep South where bbq is life. Mission BBQ has some of the most authentic pulled pork with a variety of sauces right at your table. There were 8 sauce varieties that represented various areas of the country, highlighting the different flavor profiles represented by each area. I had a taste of each and can't say I preferred one over the other but, ALL are great. It's a great way to take your taste buds on a vacation from the Carolinas to Memphis to St Louis. The cornbread was sweet and flakey while the mac 'n cheese was full of cheese and topped with crunchy bread crumbs for a variety of textures. I regret not trying the dessert but, I was stuffed! Staff was amazing, our table was scrubbed clean and trays were swept away as soon as we were done. The building was clean and fresh with a great decor showing their mission to support the military and emergency responders. I'm not one to drag my phone to dinner with family when I only see them a few times a year but, I did snap a photo of the incredibly authentic smoker sitting in the parking lot. With the name Mission BBQ, I was expecting a Southwest style decor and food. Not so! I was so pleasantly surprised to find a tribute to all military services within this wonderful barbecue establishment. A fellow veteran friend told me about free barbecue sandwiches at Mission BBQ during Armed Forces Week. The day we visited was Army day so I couldn't pass up having a free smoked brisket sandwich--delicious! My friend had a barbecue turkey sandwich--again, for free. I had some fresh cut fries and they were very good. I love to look at the walls and see the different military memorabilia including West Point football uniforms, quotes by George C Marshall, and other things throughout the establishment. Just pure deliciousness! My fiancee and I had the brisket bbq sandwich. These are not only good but filling. He also had the jalapeno cheese sausage. And together we shared mac and cheese, french fries and cornbread. The sides were average tasting. We stopped in close to noon on a Sunday. It was pretty crowded but the line moved fast. At 12 noon, the national anthem plays and everyone STANDS facing the American flag in silence. That was truly awesome! read more

This place was totally awesome. The staff and management is the best. I ordered the cheddar jalapeno sausage with fries, which was very good. They have a revolving menu item called the black plate, which was the barbecue steak when I visited, to keep their menu fresh. You should know that straws, lids and utensils are kept in a tool box by the drink machine. I was looking for them for a while and they were right in front of me. Also, if you are not sure what you want, they will let you sample everything except the steak I believe. As a side note, the restaurant also donated food for police officers after the funeral of a fallen officer. The X factors for a restaurant are class, community, and service. We ate here a few days ago, I had the yard bird and my husband had five bone ribs. Both of us got baked beans and french fries as our side. The food was so salty it was inedible. The saving grace was Charisse (sp?) who apologized for all the salt, and refunded my card for the full purchase of our lunch. This restaurant is a must-stop point when I travel from upstate New York to Maryland. My wife and I stopped on Sunday, and we enjoyed smoked turkey and pulled chicken, both of which were delicious. The people are unfailingly pleasant and helpful, and the tables in the dining area have been rearranged a bit to allow social distancing -- in fact, it appears that they have used some of them to expand outdoor seating. Full marks for what Mission does. The one thing that bothered me was the number of customers failing to wear masks in line, at the counter, and near the soda machines, and also failing to respect social distancing in line. I realize that this can be difficult to enforce, but a sign on the door requiring customers to observe these procedures would be a good start. Unfortunately, what I saw yesterday makes me uncomfortable about returning until the current health crisis is more contained. read more

The environment is relaxing and the price is affordable. I like how they have many different Bbq sauces to choose from. The food is just okay, nothing special really. I actually like their sides better than the meat, especially the cheesy baked potatoes. Their corn bread is a little dry but it's okay since it's not the star. Their brisket sandwich is big but i would recommend to eat it with just one slice of the bun because the huge bun kinda hide all away the smoky flavors of the brisket. You know I was about to go to chipotle for lunch and Mission popped up. After seeing the 2 star reviews on Chipotle I decided to bail and try this 5 star Mission BBQ and it did not disappoint! Food was fast. I got the pastrami! It was delicious. Also the Mac and cheese and green beans was a good combo. Would highly recommend! They get busy during lunch. read more

Verdict: Alas, my mission continues to find really good PA BBQ. Not to say this is bad BBQ. It was actually above average for the area. It's just got nothing on the southeast, deep south, or southwest US. We have lots of types of food that we do really well in the northeast. The south just has the BBQ skills. My coworkers said they really enjoyed Mission so I thought I'd check it out. After overcoming the new guy learning curve with the menu and approach to ordering, I was ready(ish) to go. I ordered the fatty style beef and turkey with beans and the slaw for sides. They have two cuts off the beef with one being more on the dry side and leaner. I'm sure they're both good but I opted for what I thought might bring the most flavor. Considering all the meat, BBQ sauces, and sides, I'd say this was above average. So many places have one or two of the three nailed and the third is lacking. I don't think Mission has any single thing that's amazing but I liked each of those three parts of what they offer. I love BBQ! I like that everything is already cooked or is cooking so you don't have to wait too long for your food to arrive. We stopped in on a Thursday night and the line was to the door and all the tables were full. This is a new place so I figured this was going to happen. I was pleased to see that the line was moving pretty quick and the menu board was large since I didn't have my glasses. I did have a question about their menu. They had a XL Meal and an XXL Meal. I do get it's 1 side or 2 sides but it doesn't say if the meats are interchangeable. I thought it would be possible to try ribs and pulled pork. Guess not...oh well. I just wished it was a little clearer. I thought the price for our order was a little high for the portion of food we received. I understand you're getting meat on a plate and meat is expensive but personally that's what I remembered after going here. I do recommend trying all the different sauces they make. Saw this place going in near the new giant/old gander mountain plaza and decided to give it a shot. So glad we did! There's nothing really like it in the area and it's quickly become a go to spot for my husband and me. I prefer the double meat platter as the sandwich had too much bread for me (a personal preference) while my husband loves the pulled pork sandwich NC style (with coleslaw). I wasn't too impressed with the mac and cheese or corn on the cob seasonal side but the fries and coleslaw are really good! Staff are always friendly and more than accommodating when we go, even when its packed. Only had one instance where the staff pushing meals out were a bit unorganized but I think that was due to a miscommunication somewhere. One member went out of his way to get a fresh bottle of BBQ sauce for me when ours was empty and a box for my mother to take her food home which was greatly appreciated. Decor is typical BBQ/casual southern feel with a big emphasis on the service (police, military, etc). I love all the different types of sauces and vinegar on each table. Tons of variety. read more

We ordered to go: 2 meat platter - brisket and pulled pork. 2 meat platters - pulled pork and pulled chicken. A sliced turkey sandwich with fries. Two sides of cold (yes i spelled that right, Cold) slaw and a side of green beans. All of the food was super yummy. Love the fact you can order the brisket lean or fatty. Go lean! Seriously saves you from a mouthful of fat. That was probably the winner here. The pulled pork was also yummy. I'd skip the pulled chicken next time. Not bad by any means, but when given other options..it just kinda falls short. The chicken wasn't as tender as I was hoping. The turkey sandwich was exactly what it sounds like, but was also tasty. Fries good too. The cold slaw left a little to be desired, as it was a little dry. Get the green beans!! They come with bacon...need i say more? The corn bread was just eh. I got the corner piece so maybe thats why. This comes with the 2 meat platters, not the sandwiches. It has real pieces of corn it in, so watch out. They give you a choice of sauces as they give you your order. I recommend the Smokey Mountain. The memphis belle was also pretty good. Double check them once they put it into your bag, because we were given ones we didn't ask for, and ones we did ask for were left out. It was super busy so they were not picking up the phone for take out orders, but eventually they will (hopefully). The inside is nice and has more seating than i was expecting. My first experience with this chain. Seems solid enough. I haven't sampled the entire menu but the lean brisket was well executed if, as might be expected, a bit too dry (the "marbled" brisket is likely a better choice). The pulled pork received strong compliments from others at the table. The overall setup inspires confidence and works well, especially for a chain restaurant. The sauces at the table are varied and creative and--to be completely honest--most of the flavor in modern barbecue is the sauce anyway (so few places do anything really magical with the meat). Portions are generous. Service is super-friendly. Theme is decidedly "'Merica!" In the post-9/11 vein, with an emphasis in the decor and signage on military service and first responders. Military members attending in uniform have been known to receive a free brownie and an invitation to join some bbq version of a frequent-flyer program. No comment is possible on the efficacy of the loyalty scheme but, having tasted the brownies, your correspondent can confirm that that they are goddamn fantastic. read more

I was not expecting much since we are here before the grand opening. The service and food was on point, though! I got the two meat sampler: brisket and pulled chicken. The brisket has nice burnt ends and was really flavorful. They have huge indoor smokers and the meat has a nice smoke favor. The dry rub is very good! The tables all have a six pack of sauces, vinegar, and a roll of paper towels. Drink refills are free! The patriotic theme is something I enjoy and there is a lot of military memorabilia on the walls. The sides we tried were very good- mac and cheese was ooey gooey with crunchy crumbs on top.
