Overall, Mission BBQ is a great choice if you're craving hearty BBQ in a relaxed atmosphere. The food is solid barbecue comfort with meats, tasty sides, and those amazing sauces. I loved the variety of sauces at the table; each one added its own kick, so you can really customize your meal. You really need the sauce, because the meat is not seasoned. The burger surprisingly was especially juicy and flavorful, cooked well and topped with plenty of melted cheese. Brisket and turkey were smoky, and the sides like mac & cheese, potato salad, and baked beans paired perfectly. Service was decent.

Great service and delicious food! This was my first time trying this place. The staff was super nice and helpful. They helped me decide on what to get and I got the brisket (moist, for fattier pieces) it was delicious with the bbq sauce they have laid out on each table. My fave sauce were Smoky mountain and Tupelo honey heat!! Mixed together they were even better! My family got a sample platter and the chicken as well. It was 5 combos which came with a drink and side included adding up to a little less than $100! What a deal. I got to try their fries which are made fresh to order, highly recommend! The potato salad had a nice kick of spice to it. The platter comes with a slice of cornbread, it was good but a little too dry to my liking. I had to take a sip of my drink each bite! This is the perfect location because it is at the Norfolk outlets. My family and I came to eat after a day of shopping.

I'm torn because I liked the overall "mission" and enjoyed the meal...so I'm really giving a 3.5, but it's BBQ and all about the food/flavor... I can't really say much about it except that the brisket was dry....probably because I ordered it lean. But I know lean brisket can be moist. I've had it. I've made it. But I found the one sauce that worked and made this thing pretty darn good! I tried all 6 on the table and the Memphis Belle is the clear winner on best BBQ sauce in the joint. The Mac n cheese side was ok. I did like that the offered beer and it was a local craft beer. So I enjoyed trying that. And it was pretty good too. I think if there was a hint of moisture in the meat I'd be at a 4 in a heartbeat. But there was none. All the moisture came from that sauce and to me, that's just ok BBQ. I'm sure this can improve. But, I would go back... hoping they have a more moist lean brisket by that time.

I used to love mission bbq while living in Baltimore. Since then, something has changed, and I'm not sure if it's my palette or the flavor (at least at this location). Don't get me wrong, it's not bad; it's just okay. It was nice to know that the meat sampler meal can include ribs, not just market meats. They had lemonade and sweet tea (I totally forgot), which meant I could enjoy an Arnie Palmer. The food came out quickly and at the proper temps. The staff was kind and helpful. They have ample indoor and outdoor seating. While it was a nice option in the area, it wasn't what I remembered.

Enjoy some smoked meat! Order at the counter, sit down, and savor the military tributes and rich smoke flavor. Collard greens are a must-try!

I'm a fan of Mission BBQ but never been to this location before. I came here for a work luncheon and we were serviced quickly despite it being lunch time on a Friday. I ordered the brisket with a side of Mac and cheese. You can get lean or meaty so I went with meaty. Brisket was very tender and juicy. And don't forget the cornbread!

    Nice decoration

Got a brisket salad with ranch. The ranch was fresh and delicious, and the brisket wasn't too fatty (which I like). It was tender too. BBQ sauces were great; lots of variety and great Memphis, Old Bay, and Nashville Hot. I guess I would have preferred lettuce other than iceberg, but it was still good. The decor is amazing and honors every DoD branch. They do National Anthem at noon. Friendly staff. Overall great place.

My first time here, I got the brisket and two sides and drink combo. I picked the Mac n cheese and collard greens, both sides were seasoned well and it also came with corn bread which was pretty decent. The brisket was a bit tough and fatty and salty too. I will come back time to try another dish.

Stopped by for a burger and a beer to drown in my solitude. Had great service. Prompt, attentive and genuine. Only downside was some pretentious guy named Jeff kept whining about the hostess and the service being "special needs" because he couldn't get his group prompt service under 15 minutes on a special holiday. If it wasn't for some derogative guy whining off the bell about how the service wasn't up to par every couple minutes I'd have enjoyed what would've been quite a depressing day for me. Other than that, burger was damn heavenly. Beer was cold and good. Service was grand. Some people just ruin it for others. Great spot, great burger, good beer and good folks. B.W.

The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV

We arrived about 4pm and the parking lot was kind of full but it still was a spot available for us. We walked in was greeted promptly and we had the option to sit inside or Dine Outdoors...knowing myself I love an outdoor adventure so outdoors we went... The Hostess mentioned they have a bridge that was open as well and I believe the bridge is open on Fridays and Saturdays if I'm not mistaken ... nevertheless we decided to dine on the bridge this past Friday. Omg so so so in love!! I can make this review probably about 2 pages long but I'll cut it short for you. Our super cute waitress Haley was the best... attentive informative personable a gem and made our first experience all the more amazing. We did ask for suggestions... she made suggestions for us... I ordered a cocktail and my bestie ordered a beer. My cocktail was just ok but he loved his beer of choice. We didn't want to order anything that was going to be heavy so we decided to split the Godfather Pizza and OMG it was so good so good. We knew we were returning before his departure. Here we are again Sunday during brunch hours and this time we invited another bestie it's a trio yes! We arrived about 2:00 p.m. and still decided to dine outdoors. I believe the bridge wasn't open for whatever reason on Sunday nevertheless we were able to sit on the patio. Our lovely waitress Katie was super as well. Haley and Katie kind of look like twins so I was like okay this experience will probably hit the same as Friday and needless to say it did. Katie was super awesome as well ...super attentive super patient I mean New River these two ladies are keepers and Katie shared with us that she's getting married soon so congratulations again pretty girl. Even though brunch was taking place you are still able to order pizza from the lunch / dinner menu. We ordered the Godfather again of course we ordered the chicken Parmesan pizza I forgot the name of that and the Hawaiian pizza all of them were good but my favorite on this go around was the chicken Parmesan pizza. I ate all of it even though we did share slices amongst us all the Godfather is definitely a close second. We tried the Mimosa flight it was okay I'm not a mimosa girl but the other two in my party they enjoyed it. I did have a glass of the Pinot Noir wine I'm definitely a red wine girl so the wine was right on time...right up my alley. We decided we love it here and when my bestie is visiting from Florida he already said this place is a must dine. And whoever was responsible for Designing the bathroom decor for the ladies very nice very nice. Have fun and enjoy life. :)

It was what I considered "bar food". I had a very hard time finding something on the menu to order. It is definitely a dive bar atmosphere with Karaoke nights, which I'm told are very popular. Outside seating is available. The night we went it was packed with a DJ playing loud music in what was too small a space. The only seating was at the bar, which I really don't mind. The bartender was nice, helping us try to decide on the order. She was attentive and friendly. The patrons seemed to be familiar with each other. Obviously there are regulars. The location is in the strip multi use center on Pleasure House Road as you turn south from Northampton Boulevard. Since most of the other establishments are closed during the busiest bar hours, there should be enough parking. Closing time is 2am. I've been witness to the fact that their parking lot can still be lively at that hour. Standing on my deck waiting for my dog to come in, I've heard closing time from the spot. So if you're looking for a late night bar to party, this might be the spot for you.
