I never the guy that comes in 10 minutes to close but almost an hour to close is acceptable. Ordered my food and the bill was just over $25. Actually way overpriced for what it was. I could go to Longhorn and sit down with way better food and atmosphere for that. Anyways food arrived and man you could tell they were trying to close shop. Cornbread was stale, mac n' cheese was sitting in the warmer for too long, sausage wasn't very warm, brisket was supposed to be lean and it was very fatty. Gave this place several chances and each time there was something wrong with the order. Get our food all the way home and it's missing items. Although they do say you could come in again and just let us know is besides the point it's very frustrating getting your meal home sitting in traffic and then having to either go back or just eat your food as is missing toppings. Just OK. The sauces were good, I ordered chopped brisket sammy, couldn't hand hold it due to the bottom bun sogginess. This was before I added any extra sauce. Today was my first day trying out a Mission BBQ. Wow! Everything about it was Top Notch. Service was great, staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was amazing. Best barbecue I've had in the Phoenix area. The General Manager was there and working the counter with other staff. She came to my table and asked if I was a veteran. I said yes and she gave me one of their veteran VIP cards, and then we chatted a little bit about the restaurant and the new one that's going up in Goodyear soon. I can't say enough about what a great lunch experience this was, and I can't wait to go back. I understand the Goodyear restaurant is having a grand opening on February 6th and I plan to be there. read more

MISSION BBQ!!!!! Honestly I can't say enough. This was mine and my fiancés first time here. When you walk in you see all the patriotic decor from our servie men and woman, to our fire fighters. It's absolutely amazing seeing a business these days supporting what this country was built on. But then when we were giving our order, they allowed samples to see if items were too spicy or not. We both ordered 2 meat plate and 2 sides with one bottled soda and it was amazingly priced at $46, for BBQ that's great! Since we did take out I ran to the restroom while waiting for our food and when I come back the manager scott is giving my fiance a tour of their kitchen because he asked about what pellets they use. My fiance absolutely loves smoking meat and so to get a personal tour of this made him so happy! The food was absolutely amazing and service is even better. This place will be our go to for BBQ. I asked why are the portion so small and was told they weigh the meat- in case the picture doesn't do justice , it was two pieces of brisket. I have enjoyed both meals I have had here. The ribs are very good, and you can order as many as you want. They were very tender. I also enjoyed the salmon, although it might have been a bit overcooked. Not enough to complain about. The ribeye steak was tasty, but you can't get a steak knife to cut it with, just a plastic knife. My dining companion had to use his pocket knife. It is Cafeteria style (wait in line to order place your order, pay, then find a seat, get your fountain, drink wait for your name to be called to get your food) it's very efficient . The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable friendly. The Atmosphere is very clean, neat , efficient , and accessible. The BbQ food is Scrumptious. I have been there 4 times and was very happy with the food/ experience on Every occasion. I had the Yardbird which is half a chicken. The Sausage, Brisket and the Turkey. All were delicious ( fresh, seasoned great, bbq flavor was great). II got coleslaw, baked beans and cornbread. All sides are al a carte and cost extra, except the cornbread which comes with the meat order. Pricing is fair... not too expensive and not cheap. Sodas are refillable as much as you want. Portion size is generous especially if you order the sides. You can also self-serve a take out out box and utensils with brown paper towels for needed cleanup. let's start with the service. We were warmly greeted as we walked in, big smiles and authentic words of welcome. The cashier offered us samples of the various menu items as it was our first visit. That was so lovely! This young lady was exceptionally nice. Set the tone for the meal. We ordered the two meats and the xxl sides plus a drink. We also ordered a desert and a seasonal savory item - the corn casserole. OMG - you have to try that. Delicious. Best item on the menu. We selected lean brisket and pulled pork for our meats and a sample of the jalepeno + cheese sausage. All three were excellent choices. I loved the brisket with or without added sauce. The pork needed a sauce as it was pretty dry. There are six options on the table plus a big bottle of vinegar (yum!) and some delicious mustards at the condiment station near the soda machines. For our side dishes we ordered the baked beans and the fries. We also got a potato roll and cornbread So here's our take on the sides and the dessert. As mentioned above, the corn casserole is a must try dish. It was perfect. Savory, sweet, baked to perfection. We could have eaten a quart of it. Did I mention the sides are generously portioned? The baked beans were the opposite. Absolutely horrible. Mushy, overcooked, underseasoned - just bad. Maybe they are supposed to be like this but I've never had any like them before. One of the ladies on duty exchanged them for the country style green beans - which were perfectly prepared with bacon and onion and southern seasonings. So skip the red beans and go for the green. The fries weren't great and got cold very fast. Just not our style. Some might like them, we didn't The corn bread was too bland for one of us and too sweet for the other. Go figure. we both thought it was dry and unpleasant. The potato roll was very nice and a perfect compliment to the pulled pork. For the crowning glory, we had the Mississippi Mud Pie. It may not be an authentic Mississippi, but it was delicious. Creamy chocolate and marshmallow mouse over a bed of graham crackers and the entire serving covered in a creamy whipped topping. Excellent. The serving was shared by us and was more than enough. So we'll end this review with 5 stars for service and about 3.5 overall for the food. A solid 4 for a very clean, well lit and comfortable restaurant. The meats are great, the sauces are all over the place but take them up on the samples for the side dishes before you order. We also sampled the mac & cheese (not fans of that) and the coleslaw (yummy). It was hit or miss as it is in every bbq joint! But the main thing - the meat - was perfect. read more
