I did some car detailing work for the owner prior to coming for a date on a Saturday night. It's a great place! Cozy, I love the decor. The server was fantastic, quick with our drinks. The food is even better than we remember from previous visits - in particular, the Chorizo-Stuffed Jalapenos. The Ambiance: Very neat! Love the decor and bar back. Didn't get a chance to see upstairs but downstairs it was good. Well spaced tables and not too loud. The service: Friendly and quick to be helpful The food: here's where I was disappointed. We got the chips and salsa which was pretty good but only came with a small salsa for a large amount of chips. The generous portion though was appreciated. I got the Al Pastor tacos which were fabulous. The pineapple brought a freshness and the meat was well marinated. However it came with black beans and rice which were both really awful. The beans had cotija cheese on them which normally would be great but it tasted very off and the beans themselves were off. The rice was so bad I nearly spit it out. It tasted like plastic and for a Mexican joint the beans and rice really need to be good. My partner got the Carne Asada tacos which tasted like they were over cooked on a dirty grill. Way too much char, not enough flavor, and lots of cartilage. Came in to grab something before heading to another bar (could have stayed but came too late) and the food was amazing and good portions. Got a drink (forgot the name) but it was super good and refreshing! Everything had a kick to it tho but pleasant taste. You HAVE to try the calamari, they were my favorite dish. Loved the atmosphere and decor! There is so much character inside this hidden gem. Sombreros and lights dangling from the ceiling. Forgot I was in Seattle for an instant! We came in at the end of happy hour. There was a good crowd there. We were sat immediately at the high tops in the bar. (The booths were full.) I don't think the upstairs balcony area was open yet. They had really decent happy hour prices on drinks. $4 beers and the $6 rum punch was delicious and strong! The menu looked huge! The guy at the table next to us ordered a burrito that was bigger than my head! He was eating it with a fork! Lol. We weren't hungry, so we just ordered the $2 HH chips and salsa. Only negative thing to say about our experience was that it's always sort of a buzzkill when a Mexican restaurant doesn't give out free chips and salsa. Again, I loved the character of this place, but if you want a larger more modern, upscale, and open vibe, go down the street to The Matador. First time here and it's my favorite. Drove 25 mins from Seattle because they have "bottomish" mimosas which is so smart especially if you are a light weight. Bang for your buck. Food was so delicious!! Energy of this place is just really good. Celia was such a doll she was the only waitress at the place and she handled it like a boss. Went against my better judgement after seeing some of the recent reviews and they were right. The food we received (because we got someone else's order) was flavorless. Not sure how you don't double check the order your packing. From what we did get the al Pastor tacos were dry, the rice and beans had no flavor. The shrimp tacos were over cooked and had had no flavor. The best thing was the dressing on some random salad. Won't be giving this place another shot. I'll just stick to Matador. read more

The only reason I am giving this place 4 stars is because the food was not outstanding. It was good but just not something that had me wanting more. Other than that they have an outstanding restaurant. The customer service, the aesthetics, and the atmosphere was great. Also the prices were very reasonable. The plate I got was $16. First time ordering from here, and was disappointed. We ordered takeout, and were told it would be 20-30 minutes. Got there to pick it up 10 minutes early, and it was already sitting out; no update to grubhub. After giving the server my name, they proceeded to yell at the chef, who was also yelling at the servers for messing up orders, accidentally giving people items they did not order, calling them idiots. Utter chaos, and a huge turnoff. While they were fighting, my food sat for another 10 minutes, and was completely cold upon arriving home ( 3 minutes away). The food itself, besides being cold, was not prepared well. Black beans were inedible, rice was undercooked, and overall the food was bland and soggy. Chips tasted rancid, like they had been fried in bad grease. Avoid this place; way too expensive to be this bad. Taco Bell is better read more

My friend and I have been wanting to come here for a while for brunch, and we were not disappointed We got there at 11, and we were worried that we would have to wait for a table, because that's peak brunch time. They asked us if we didn't mind a high table, we said we didn't mind at all, and they sat us right away. Shawn, was great! He asked us if we had been there before, we said no, and that we were there for brunch. He showed us the Mimosa menu and explained it was best to work from the bottom up, the strongest drinks, to the weakest. $15 for a bottomless Mimosa is quite the deal. He answered all questions we had about the menu and any substitutions that we might want. Our waitresses great, very friendly, made sure that we had our drinks. Shawn also came up and said that they were short-staffed, and apologized if there was going to be any wait before our food. We said we didn't mind we were enjoying the atmosphere, the drinks, and we were just there to enjoy a good brunch. We actually did not wait that long for our food, I ordered a cup of the posole, which Shawn recommended, it was delicious! I also got the quesadilla, and my friend got the Baja Burrito. I ordered a large side of guacamole, which you could tell it was made fresh because it was chunky and delicious! We were there for 2 hours, we were never pressured to leave, like most places, and they always made sure that we had drinks. All in all, it is a great place! If you're in West Seattle, and in the Admiral District on a Sunday, I highly recommend coming here, you will not be disappointed! read more

Absolutely wonderful! Visiting from out of town with my family looking for a cozy wonderful brunch location and boy did we find it. Pete the owner was wonderful, he introduced himself and made us feel immediately at home even came around and gave us homemade Mexican pastries (not made from their restaurant but a local place) just because! His staff was also amazing and very personable, Hayley was our server and she was excellent. Running two large parties in their upstairs area we got everything we needed and more! As for the drinks, they do bottomless mimosas for 15$ and have about 15 flavors. AMAZING! Especially because these mimosas are good quality, individually mixed and with the right amount of champagne to juice ratio. Most of the time I feel like I'm getting screwed on alcohol and overall flavor content of drinks at other bottomless places but definitely not here. Seriously can't even say enough how amazing the drinks were :) The food was delicious as well, extremely authentic and well made. It's nice to go to a scratch kitchen knowing everything is made to order as well as being able to modify however I want it. I ordered the "Sweet papa hash" and it was melt in your mouth good. I added the spicy chorizo and do not regret it in the slightest, I'll add that chorizo to anything and everything! Also all their sauces were incredible and very original. Overall this place gets 5 hundred stars from me and my family. We are all living in California now and I wish I could just pick this place up and move it home with me so I could go all the time! Unfortunate fail. Our first time ordering from Mission Cantina, ordered and paid from Grubhub app for pickup. When husband got to restaurant they said we didn't pay through the app (we did), so he had to pay again. Not the end of the world, we got it figured out with Grubhub, but an annoying extra step given our order is completely wrong and the hostess was super unfriendly. Our Order details: I ordered mission burrito as a tortilla-less bowl, described as coming with rice, veggies, black beans, etc. instead I received a mound of shredded chicken on cheesy, soggy French fries. No veggies, no black beans, no rice. :( see pic Husband ordered California Ave burrito, supposed to come with Carne Asada... instead had shredded beef. It was my first weekend in Seattle. I was looking for a good Mexican brunch place after a night of too much fun. I randomly found this place on Yelp and it worked out just fine. The inside is very cozy and the service was very good. There is a large selection of tequila and great brunch cocktails. The food could be a tad more flavorful but it still hit the spot. Because of its location on California, you are surrounded by other places to shop or visit. If and when I return to Seattle, I'll visit this place again. read more

One of the worst Mexicans experiences in Seattle. Nachos came overly salty. Drinks tasted watered down and the tacos (chicken and shrimps) we order were really bland. The one star is for the service otherwise would have been zero. For the kids meal the chicken came burnt and the kiddo straight away said I don't like this. Drinks: *** $15 BOTTOMLESS MIMOSAS *** Okay, if you're a fan of a boozy brunch, hop a Lyft over to Mission Cantina and indulge in their bottomless mimosas! For the price of $15, you get an unlimited supply of tasty mimosas to choose from. I believe the list has at least 12 options (if not more). My favs were were the rum punch, prickly pear and hibiscus. Also, they have a DIY Bloody Mary bar!!!! Even though the bloody marys are not available as bottomless (you probably wouldn't be able to stand up if they were), they have a bomb DIY bloody mary bar where you can take your drink to the next level. Choose from pickled okra, green beans, asparagus, peppers, bacon, bacon wrapped sausage, olives, etc... it made my entire heart SWELL looking at the offerings. Food: The bar makes everything to order, so they can take into account any food restriction. They're also open to customizing whatever you'd like. I wanted Huevos Rancheros but also was craving some carne asada, so they added it to the meal! They also have a DOPE HH menu that's available for most of the day, every day of the week. Seriously, it's almost too good to be true. They've also been known to bring over a variety of Mexican desserts/pastries after you order, which was a nice touch for hospitality... plus they were pretty tasty. Ambience: We were able to meet Peter (I believe he's the owner/mgr) and he told us they'd recently remodeled and added in a sky light and other stuff. The natural light was a nice addition to the space which was still cozy and a bit dark, but in a way that makes you feel like you're truly being transported to somewhere in Mexico. I didn't make reservations and came with a group of 7 on a Saturday morning around 1130a and were able to snag the larger booth in the back. I believe they also accept reservations, so if you're coming with more than 2 people that's probably a safe bet. If you're in the area and looking for a boozy brunch OR a bomb HH, definitely come to this place! The service is awesome, the drinks were top notch, and the food was good.
