Amazingly surprised at how good this joint is. Pretty much a grab n go, so we were not expecting much, but we were hungry. We split a "kitchen sink" pizza, and WOW, it was delicious! Fresh-tasting, drool-inducing pizzas! The only downside is there is often a line to order and a sometimes lengthy wait time, but that's the price you pay for yummy local pizza. The crust was just right, not too thick and not too thin. The person taking our order helped us decide on the best sauce for my family. A Large pizza was enough for four people. I'd highly recommend Mission Pizza. Just make sure you have time to wait and a place to eat because there isn't much seating (only a few chairs at a pull-up patio "bar".). It's really disappointing that they hire people that would serve me a room temperature, dry and over baked pizza. My son was not able to eat his slice of pepperoni pizza due to it being just overall bad. I hope that whoever thought about giving this pizza to a costumer feels ashamed. 11/25/22 We actually got an AirBnB condo on this beach, so while relaxing on the sand we inevitably got hungry. My gf came back with this... I was really really really prepared for some edible but not well-prepared food like what you'd usually find along beachfront boardwalk counters and restaurants. So, when I opened the pizza box I was like, waaaa..... this pizza looks gorgeous! We also got some fish and chips, and shrimp and chips too. Neither was anything particularly special, but the fish was high quality and succulent, moist, and the shrimp were large and cooked perfectly as well. Classically beer battered, and fried crunchy. Perfect. But what most impressed me was the corn chowder. I didn't take notes, but I do remember I couldn't stop eating it. We were sharing with another family, but as soon as they took their share, man.... I drank waaaaaay too much of what amounts to probably 2 big cups of thick cream. Oh well, it was worth it. This is a super casual spot to dine in Avila Beach and it was just what we were looking for! It was a rainy day and my husband and I both wanted sandwiches. We came to Avila to do some wine tasting and Mission Pizza was located right next to some incredible tasting rooms! I got the Italian sub (served toasted and warm) and it was absolutely delicious! It was super cheesy and had great toppings - including black olives, my favorite! It hit the spot on a cold and rainy day + totally cured my sub craving. They also serve their subs with seasoned potato wedges which were so much better than a bag of chips! I'd love to come back and try their pizza as well. They don't serve beer/wine in the little shop but you can walk next door to their sister restaurant and get a glass and bring it over. We'll be back on another visit! Yessss, Mission Pizza, yessss. After a long drive to get to the SLO area, we were desperate for a quick and easy meal. As it was out first time in the area, we had no idea where to go. After scanning Yelp for highly rated places, Mission Pizza popped up! A short walk across from our hotel, we ordered at this little hole in the wall and this pizza is to dieeee forrrrr. We ordered their veggie pizza, wings, and a couple sides of their garlic ranch. GARLIC. RANCH. This food was bomb! Fresh, hot, crispy and packed with flavor. Definitely that hometown-old school pizza feel. Staff was super friendly and they were enforcing waiting outside once ordering, however, they allowed people in without masks. They even greeted me by name which was a nice surprise. It was hard to resist the pizza on the drive to the hotel because it smelt so good. But we wished the bottom had more of a crunch; I would describe the crust as flimsy towards the middle. We love coming here when in town. We have had their pizzas, shrimp and chips, fish and chips, clam chowder fries and their garlic bites.
