Came in for lunch on a Tuesday. We had their Italian and chicken club baked subs with a side of wedge fries for under $8 each. This 0lace offers Pepsi if that's your thing. There were a number of orders ahead of us so we settled in on the porch to people watch. The food came out hot and delicious. I also ended up with a cup of chowder. It was very good. I may just have a bread bowl next time. I did notice something that just, bothered me a little tiny bit. The place is called Mission Pizza and they have a huge tiki head that says Aloha. I know the owners prolly didn't even think about it, heck they prolly didn't know.. but the Missionaries nearly wiped out the Hawaiian lifestyle. They came in and made it bad to be Hawaiian. My gut told me to listen to other reviews and Allison G. Was spot on in her first review! Let me start with the guy who answered the phone...he seriously was so short at one point I thought he hung up on me. Upon arrival I met this young man who was equally as cold in the store, probably not your best foot forward in terms of customer service. So moving on... we ordered the BBQ Chicken pizza and I asked for the thinnest crust possible and crispy. Lots of reviews loved this pizza and I was terribly disappointed. The BBQ sauce was so overwhelming in flavor you lost any other flavors of the pizza. Then let's touch on the chicken they use. It was "powdery" and chewy and tasted as if they had cooked it way ahead of time or even cooked it and froze the chicken and then added it to the pizza. Then the actual pizza was so over cooked it was almost hard to eat with a knife and fork. I won't be going back any time soon. read more

Centrally located in downtown Avila Beach and reasonably priced despite that. The staff was friendly and our food was ready on-time. The toppings seemed of good quality, but the pizza was very average. Better than chain pizza, but the dough really had very little character and almost seemed premade or something. Solid food on a recent trip to the Central Coast. We got a couple of the flatbread pizzas here, which had a nice crispy and slightly buttery crust. Toppings were fresh and generous. Definitely a good bite. However, I mostly want to give a shout out to the people working there during our visit. When I walked in the door to place my order, there was this guy standing sort of in the middle of the store. I asked him if he had ordered, and he muttered something that I obviously misunderstood so I asked for clarification. He then gave me some sass and rolled his eyes. This fella must have some bottled up emotions that he's struggling with. I was tempted to give it back to him a little, using some multisyllabic words that he was unlikely to understand, but I decided to hold my tongue because I didn't want to confuse the poor man. Anyways, he hadn't ordered so I dutifully waited my turn. It was busy and service was slow, but the town was crawling with people and it was lunchtime so this was expected. Just when it was his turn to order, a GrubHub guy shows up to pick up an order, and the young woman behind the counter asks the halfwit in front of me to wait just a minute. He then throws a tantrum about his one-minute delay, makes a few grunting insults that almost resembled complete sentences, and stomped out of the establishment, probably in search of his mother or a lollipop to soothe his anguished heart. We all looked at each other in bewilderment, shared a laugh, and then went on with our lives. Throughout this guy's tirade, the restaurant staff were calm and tried to reason with him, but in the end it would be no pizza for him. I was happy to leave them a slightly bigger tip. read more

Make sure you check what pizzas you pick up. They got ours wrong and were not helpful with the replacement at all. I was on the phone with them for 20 minutes trying to get the right pizza order, but they kept me on hold so I walked over instead. When I got there they wanted the original pizzas that were already touched by our baby nephews and we didn't want to walk back for them (only to be thrown away) so I had to pay for the correct pizzas again. We went to place an order... we had 4 separate groups planning on placing orders but the workers in the back were too busy taking selfies to hear us ring the bell at least 4 different attempts. Worst pizza we have ever got. Dry, tasteless, My husband ordered a sausage pizza it literally had 1piece of sausage on each slice. I ordered a chicken club the bread was hard as a rock and the chicken was dry and tasteless. I took one bite and spit it out. It was horrible. We will never go back. Was the mission to have pizza at Mission Pizza? Nope. Obviously, we had fish & chips and a chicken pesto sandwich. I'd recommend the straightforward fish & chips with good batter and fish. I'd pass on the sandwich that had a thick slice of chicken (not sure how the chicken got that big), needed more moisture, and had too much bread for the amount of filling. I think restaurants like Blaze have spoiled me when it comes to pizza. I can no longer justify paying ~$10 for a small pizza with limited toppings that I have to wait so long to get. Walked to Avila on the Bob Jones trail, we got hungry and decided to stop at Mission Pizza. We ordered a chicken pesto sandwich, the loaded fries, and the cinnabites. The cashier was super cute & friendly, I think her name was Karina. She recommended the cinnabites drizzled with caramel and a side of vanilla ice cream- so yummy! Give her a raise. I've had the chicken pesto sandwich here before, and it's my absolute favorite! The fries were nice and hot and the cheese, bacon, & chives were spread evenly throughout the fries. I was staying at the Avila La Fonda hotel and needed a pizza sorta late before they closed at 9pm. Chris, the manager is the most arrogant and unkind server I've ever met. You order at the counter and wait at a window for your food. We waited 20 minutes and saw that our soup was sitting under a heat lamp for over 10 minutes. After 35 minutes we politely asked if we could get the soup to bring and to serve to our kids while we waited our other item (kid's chicken tender). He spoke so rudely to me and he told me "they'll survive" and quickly walked away. Food is just ok, so don't waste your time. And Chris should not ever deal with customers.
