Very fun decor, you keep waiting on the Fonz to walk in. The staff service is great, and the place can be packed and your food still comes out quick. The food is average, and I never have had a great meal there.... but still, I have never had a bad meal, or something the way i didn't order it. I've eaten here twice now on my way to Jimmy Peak to do some skiing. The staff are very friendly, the food arrives quickly, and they make sure drinks and coffee are topped off in a timely fashion. I've had breakfast food each time and it has been delicious. There is just enough food to fill you up without pushing you over the edge. After years of operating on East Street the Misty Moonlight made the move to the former New England Chowder House on Dalton Avenue and is probably busier now than it ever was. That being said, there are so many restaurants in the USA (authentic 50's and retro 50's) that do it so much better than the Misty Moonlight Diner that it's not worth the trip. Pick one, any national chain and they be so much more satisfying (Johnny Rockets, Ruby's-not Ruby Tuesday). Even local LA, CA institutions like Norm's or Bob's Big Boy will offer hearty meals and great service. The Misty Moonlight's "par-baked" (partially prepared and baked long before it ever makes it to the Moonlight's kitchen) food tastes as one would expect. Not very good. It also goes hand in hand with the owner's other popular eateries (Hot Harry's Burritos, Juice n' Java and sad to say Angelina's Subs). You can't necessarily blame the owner as the clientele accepts this quality and continues to patronize the establishment therefore there will never be any positive changes in quality of service or food. read more

where to start, where to start? we were seated and then waited about 20 minutes, reading the menu over and over again, when the waitress finally came to take our orders, we were told that they were 'out of steak' when someone in our party ordered it, then changed his order to fish and chips only to be then told 'were also out of fish'. They could have clued us in half hour ago, before we decided on what we wanted to get. We then ordered (did i mention we were with 2 children)...only to wait 30 min to get our food, with issues, no bacon on the bacon burger, incorrectly friend chicken fingers(kids wouldnt even eat them), canned gravy, etc....gross!! so we ate and still no one to check in on us, no one to bring the check. I went up to the counter to find one of our various waitresses, only to be told there were not enough cookies to go with the kids meals we ordered (2) and to be asked "when are you due"? When am I due? Im not pregnant!! (and i dont LOOK pregnant either.)..... Dont go here, dont waste your time, bad food, bad service....sorry but its true! read more

I have had good and bad experiences here. The staff is usually average, and if your not looking for anything special for breakfast, its a good place to go. Slow slow slow slow slow. You grow old waiting for eggs. And once they get there, they aren't very good. It was sort of like a burrito, rather than an Omelette, with the tortilla part made with eggs. They just wrapped my fillings in the egg tortilla, rather than make an actual Omelette. It was pretty, well, gross. The homefries were delicious, and the coffee plentiful, and their rye toast is unusually thick -- delicious. But those eggs....and that wait.....Breakfast shouldn't take two hours. read more

I have been coming here since I was a very young child back when the restaurant was on E Street. The menu offers many options and is generally very affordable. I always go for the make your own omelette and have never been disappointed. They also serve mimosas which is perfect for Sunday brunch! The wait staff is always very friendly and helpful and I have never had to wait long to receive my meal. I will continue coming as frequently as I can and I suggest others do the same. While on vacation in western Mass., I was looking for a dinner spot and using the Yelp recommendations decided on MMD. Good Choice!! The atmosphere is 50's, nothing fancy, but adequate for a diner. The food was great and plentyful. I had Yankee pot roast and my GF had one of the many warm sandwiches on the menu. Great value for the price. I love breakfast. I have never ordered anything here beyond the breakfast menu. The variety is awesome. The price is good. And you can get breakfast all day! Did I mention I love breakfast? I've had lots of different things. The biscuits and gravy (not bad for new England!) are delicious. The home fries are tasty. The coffee is strong. The toast is thick and crispy. Fantastic!!! We were staying nearby in Hancock and looking for a place that served breakfast all day so we checked them out on Berkshiremenus and the menu seemed pretty extensive. Really cool retro diner with oldies music and clips from old movies. We all got breakfast and it was delicious. I got the Hot Mama breakfast which I shouldn't have since I need to lose weight but what the hey I was on vacation. Everything was tasty and fresh and service was great. Prices weren't bad they have 20% off senior discount on Tues. be sure you mention it first tho, the waiter got a little huffy when I asked after he ran my credit card through. read more

Must have been a bad day at Misty today. Went based on a recommendation and it just wasn't good. We were put into the back room that was heated by a space heater. 64 degrees and never got warmer. Waitress took our order at 11:30. At 12:30 I had to ask where our food was? I was told the typical cook wasn't in. Finally it came and several items were wrong and one meal, a Belgian waffle, took another 15 min to get. It just wasn't good service and from what I've heard and read, the food should have been better because it wasn't good. read more

We've eaten here quite a few times now and I get pretty excited when we decide to go. It's pretty decent diner food! We pretty much only do breakfast. We've been on week days and the weekend and it hasn't ever been ridiculously busy. The service is friendly and fast. It has all the usual. Diner coffee, huge milkshakes, eggs, toast, home fries, omelets, breakfast sandwiches, the list goes on. It's good! The home fries could be a little more cooked for my tastes but they still taste very good! The decoration is very cute and it's a fun place to take visiting friends and family. read more

I have been going here with family quite frequently. The inside feels just like a real old fashioned diner, and the waitstaff are always very helpful and nice! Such a nice sight to see in the Berkshires where all you can get is either fast food or very expensive farm to table stuff. Very friendly staff and really good food. So give yourself some extra time if you plan to eat here. Food is great as is decor, but does seem to take a tad longer to get food then other diners but worth it and alway fresh and hot! However... the two times we've eaten here service is non existent( different servers each time). Once we did get our food there was no follow up, drinks remained empty until we got up and left. Here's the part that gets me... I tried getting another server and the hostess's attention as we wanted our check and they kept walking by. Our waitress was not in view.. It had been 35 minutes after getting out food when plates were stacked and cups sitting there empty and we began to try and get the check. After patiently making attempts ( still no sigh of our waitress) we looked at the menus online, figured out the cost and left cash on the table and walked out. No service, no tip. Though the food was tasty and prices were good we have put the Misty Moonlight diner experience behind us and have scouted other places for the vent time in the area. Also be very careful of the many potholes and 1 crater in the parking lot. read more

Great place. I went here after a weekend of camping. Coffee was great. Food was sooo yummy. And I loved the atmosphere. Everyone was really nice. If you don't like 50s style restaurants, then don't go here. They have all the cool memorabilia from I Love Lucy and the Wizard of Oz and so on. Just a really cool place. I had called yesterday to place a pick up order first the girl awnsering was kind of rude she said they were to busy to take orders for pick up ok that's a first I'm thinking.So I drove there from Lenox my wife and I got seated at the bar area I waited for close to an hour while staff were two feet away never offered a coffee a menu not even a hello.I manage a hotel and from my experience you should always go above and beyond to satisfy a guest,customer apparently not the case here.so from this day forward I will no longer refer my guest's to this place.I suggest you go to daddy'o diner they have great staff and food read more

I don't know what Andy p is talking about! He said that the misty is like out of a box, he is soooo wrong. Yes I'm sure some things come in that way but it IS GOOD HOMEMADE COOKING!! THE PLACE IS GREAT. I don't understand why he groups Misty with the other places he said it goes hand in hand with restaurants that are not related at all. The owner is a local guy that has had the place since 1995 and the staff that is there have been there for many year's as well. He (Andy says that chains are better?) but I know for a fact the chains are out of a box. Finally he puts the public down because he say they don't know food. My guess is that Andy has a sore spot from hot harry's, juice and java & angelina's and thinks that those restaurants have something to do with MISTY MOONLIGHTDINER but they DO NOT IN ANYWAY! Slow, disinterested, the waitress got my son's order wrong and in the twenty minutes it took to replace it, my food was stone cold and unappetizing as I didn't care to eat in front of a hungry 13 year old. Paid the bill (they charged full price for 3 entrees, even though it took an hour for my son to get a burger and I ate one piece of toast before realizing he'd have to wait for his food.) and left. Service is incredibly bad. It was much better when it was stationed on East St. I am a breakfast person and i also leave dissappointed when someone wants to go for breakfast. The service is never good, they are snotty and slow. If you are unfortunatly seated in the lower section dont expect to recieve refills on the coffee, or your check in a timely manner. The decor is cool, however I was disappointed with the omelet special which was ham, cheddar, peppers and onion. The egg was to thin. There was a lot of fillings, but the ham was deli ham and i prefer cubed ham lightly cooked in an omelet. The home fries were ok, but could have had more crispness to them. Coffee was average. This place has never let me down. The food is awesome! Anything from breakfast to burgers, the food is great. I almost never have a problem with the waiters or waitresses, until recently, but it was mostly due to her not speaking or understanding English well enough, so our order was a bit messed up. After moving here from a metropolitan area, and being quite disappointed with the so-called "quality" local restaurants, it was refreshing to find this family friendly restaurant. The food is not super fancy, basic diner food with friendly service. Inexpensive with quality and tastey food. Kids meals are less than $5 and come with free ice cream or cookie!
