I have a very old Volvo with a lot of miles on it and they keep it in tip top running condition. They are polite and professional. DO NOT go to this dealership.I had a terrible experience when trying to buy a CPO Volvo XC60. I made an apt with Dani Donato via email. Alane Comerford showed me the vehicle-I never met Dani.I decided to purchase the car that same day-Thursday. Dominic Paternostro, in Finance, was horrible to work with.I put the maximum deposit down, signed a contract and planned to go back on Monday to finalize the deal. On Saturday evening at 5PM (two days after I signed the contract), I received a text from Dominic telling me that they were not honoring our contract and that they would be refunding my deposit.  His pre-text for this breach was that I had not finalized my financing with them.Almost immediately the car was back on their website for $2,000.00 more than our agreed upon purchase price.He refused to answer my calls and texted saying he was shutting his phone off.The contract didn't state I had to finalize the financing within 5 days.Dominic and his staff lack integrity and are sketchy. read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE I'd rather get a colonoscopy than go to this dealership. I put substantial amount of money down to hold a used car which they sold from under me. There was no call, e-mail or text to me about that. I drove a good 45 minute drive to buy it and they announced they had sold the car. Unbelieveable! When I said I wanted my money back they looked shocked. I sent the sales manager an email and they never responded. UNETHICAL, UNPROFESSIONAL DEALERSHIP. My experience with Mitchell Volvo dealership was awful. I strongly advise anyone in the market of buying a new or used car NOT to look there. Kyle, the general manager was the rudest, most arrogant person. He obviously missed the chapter on customer service. Buying a vehicle should be a positive, exciting experience... this was far from that. I will never, ever consider going back there, and will advise family and friends to do the same. Appalling customer service. I called the sales department to make an appointment to see a specific vehicle as I was traveling from over an hour away. The person who answered the phone could not tell me anything about the vehicle but took my name and number and I scheduled a Saturday appointment. I specifically asked if the car was sold (between Wednesday and Saturday), if they could please let me know as I would be traveling from a distance. The sales manager did return my first call and I was not able to answer at the time, but called back within 5 minutes. No answer, so I left a message. I never received a callback. I tried calling twice the next day, no answer, no callback. The day of my appointment, I thought it best to check online and the car was no longer listed. I called as I was on my way to the appointment (about 20 minutes into my drive, in addition, I had moved several person appointments on this day to drive to Simsbury). This time someone answered the phone and told me "sorry, it sold yesterday". I would not recommend this Volvo dealer. read more

In October 2014 I purchased a used 2010 Volvo XC-60 from Mitchell Volvo in Simsbury. The salesperson convinced me to purchase the Volvo Certified warranty (Warranty); a comprehensive, bumper to bumper, zero deductible, extended original factory warranty purchased a cost of $1,895. The Warranty is effective until September 30, 2016, or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. On November 22, 2015, one of the tire valve stems failed resulting in a flat tire. On November 23rd I had the defective valve stem replaced at the Watertown Volvo dealership at a cost of $148.33. The Watertown dealership indicated that the valve stem was not covered under the Warranty. This was contrary to my understanding that the valve stems that were on the vehicle when I purchased it were covered under the Warranty. On November 23rd I drove to Mitchell Volvo with the defective part and spoke to the Service Manager, Ryan Williams. Mr. Williams assured me that the valve stem was covered under the Warranty and that a refund would be sent to my home. That was November 23, 2015. I have spoken with Mr. Williams on five separate occasions since November 23rd; once in December, twice in January, once in February and again in early March. On each occasion Mr. Williams has apologized and assured me that my refund will be processed and forwarded immediately. To date I have not received the refund. It has been more than six months and I have not received a promised refund for a simple item; a valve stem. I am concerned that Mitchell Volvo will not honor a major repair under the Warranty should such repair be needed. I request that Mitchell Volvo refund the full purchase price of the Warranty, $1,895. read more

I would never but or bring any of my cars to a Mitchell dealership. I have a VW and a Range Rover and have experienced nothing but frustration with this organization. They did more damage to my VW than repair when I brought it in for a basic service. They acknowledged and repaired what they broke, but it was a bad fix. Stay Away! read more

I brought my Volvo S60 in for service since it did not pass Connecticut mandatory emissions testing. I provided the technicians with a copy of the emissions report. They had my car for as long as they needed. Since they are a Volvo dealer, I expected they would have the expertise, tools, parts, and experience to diagnose and service my vehicle so that it passed emissions, using such techniques as reading codes from the vehicle's computer and inspecting and testing appropriate parts. I expected they would be diligent and ensure that the parts replaced and service performed was indeed appropriate and sufficient to remedy the failed emissions and enable my vehicle to pass emissions. Interestingly, a staff member claimed the technician who performed the work was their most experienced, with 30 years of experience. They charged me over $1,000 for, among other things, replacing an oxygen sensor. However, when I brought my vehicle for a retest it again did not pass emissions. If they even performed service it's clear they were merely guessing - and they did not guess correctly. I lived out of the area and it was not convenient for me to visit the service center's location in person afterward to press them. Phone calls were met with empty promises to have a service manager call back; that's if a person even came on the line. Voice mails were unreturned and I still have not been refunded a single penny for work they (supposedly) performed that did not actually correct the issue. In a recent phone call the service advisor told me they "Do not do emissions." While I understand they are not a Connecticut emissions testing facility I expected they would have the equipment, tools, and expertise to diagnose and repair emissions-related issues. If they do not in fact have the ability to address emissions-related problems they should not accept (and charge for) such work. Instead, they should disclose that they cannot perform emissions-related repairs and refer such a customer to a professional who can. I work in IT and sometimes a client approaches me with a project that is outside my field. In that case, I do not take on, pretend to do, and charge for such a job. Instead, I politely disclose that I do not have the expertise their project requires, and I decline and refer the client to someone whose skills will serve the client. Mitchell Volvo needs to adopt a similar practice. They clearly do not have the integrity and work ethic to ensure that the work they perform and parts they replace actually fully address the issue the customer reported and to follow up and correct if the work was insufficient. Instead, they live by the principal of "they already have your money" and will stonewall and play avoidance games when you complain and attempt to secure redress or refund, in hopes that your life is too busy or you otherwise lack the motivation, organization, money, time, or other resources to pursue more formal recovery avenues. Stay away from Mitchell Volvo service. They don't care if they did the job right. They only care that they get paid. Mitchell Auto Body performed repairs to the front end of my vehicle due to an animal strike. These were of acceptable quality. Mitchell Volvo service also reprogrammed my light switch and made a duplicate key as requested, both of which I had no issues with. read more

Go somewhere else (like Gengras!) to buy your Volvo. Very unprofessional and poor sales service. Purchased a XC60 in one-hour and never received follow up call before or after delivery. Alane was relatively knowledgeable about the vehicle, but always in a hurry to leave. The sales manager referred us to Alane, and when I called to make an appointment (where Gengras did all the selling, but unfortunately didn't have select car available), she was less than accommodating about scheduling. On delivery of the vehicle, the same watch-the-clock behavior continued. She performed a perfunctory review of the vehicle features, saying that she had to leave at 6 pm. When certain phone features weren't working, she said just return on Monday for service help. No effort to source the problem. I left a message for the sales manager Kyle, and never received a call back. Unfortunately, Gengras did the sales work, but Mitchell reaped the benefit. XC60 is an amazing vehicle, but go to Gengras. read more

WOW, the typical bate and switch!!! Called on a Friday night at 4:30 to check availability on a Volvo XC60. They said the car was still available with 1.5 h to closing. Got there the next morning at 10AM but they said the car was just sold last night. They then preceded to try to sell me a higher priced car, of course. Very poor buying experience to the extent that we wont have vehicle serviced there. We purchased a used Volvo that had the remainder of the factory warranty still available. We attempting to utilize one of the two remaining free services we discovery Mitchell had left 2 outstanding recall/tech service requests unfulfilled and claimed one of the free services. Not a great buying experience. The salesman was knowledgeable, responsive and straight forward. The problem came with delivery. The salesman who sold us the car was not available so they substituted someone else. That person did not have an appropriate level of knowledge of the car (top of the line new model XC90) which was a real shame because it is a complicated car. Then before we took delivery it became apparent there was a fault with one of the external folding mirrors. They messed around with it for about an hour but were unable to fix it. We were under time pressure so had to either take it as it was or take a temporary car, but the latter was not an option because they did not have anything large enough. So we took delivery of a faulty car. They were meant to follow up with us the following Monday, but they did not which was particularly disappointing. I am reasonably technical so spent some time myself fiddling with it and was able to get the automatic mechanism to reset, so eventually it ended ok due to self help. We love the car (truly special) and the pre-delivery experience was good but they let us down with delivery and post delivery. read more
