Bizarrely good and insanely cheap. We ordered a few things for breakfast the other day and all of them were way better than expected. We got the pierogies and eggs for around $9 and the Reuben with fries for $10. The pierogies were clearly made from scratch and were incredible. Even the toast was weirdly good? Clearly not your typical wonderbread. The fries were just the tiniest bit soggy but honestly I'll blame that on the delivery as opposed to a food quality issue. Hard to do fries well for delivery. Welcome to happy days! Uncle Bob's is a 60's throw back. Simple egg breakfasts in the morning and burgers in the afternoon. Culinary chefs need not apply. This isn't highbrow gourmet food, but solid Americana dining. I stopped in for a quick breakfast and they delivered. Hot coffee. Yes! Eggs properly cooked. Yes again. Crisp bacon. Jackpot. Buttered toast-hello carbs. The only weak thing was the hash browns. They were more like baked breakfast potatoes. Service was prompt. Prices are really a throwback, too, with 2 eggs starting around $4.50. 3egg omelets run a little more. Based only on a single visit, Uncle Bob's is a solid American diner breakfast spot. 3 stars if you're very critical, 4 stars if you're a normal person who wants some tasty food from a local small business. Exterior is a nice with outdoor seating. Well located with good parking. I went after lunch so it was pretty empty. ++ Light-feeling and airy, recent renovation/decor, bar seating. Clean. Service was friendly and fast. I ordered a pastrami Reuben on rye, plus an iced coffee, which is my go-to diner choice and the litmus paper from which I make broad judgements. Here it comes with cole slaw, house-made russet potato chips (!) and of course a pickle. ++ Said potato chips were excellent and went too quickly. I wish more eateries DIY'd the little stuff like this. As a pickle fanatic, 7/10 pickle. Somewhere between good and very good. + The cole slaw needed salt and pepper but truly nailed the sweet/sour balance. Cole slaw is a weirdly hit or miss side dish so I was very pleased - I think it's house-made but I didn't ask. -- Coffee was sub-par diner coffee, not strong or flavorful. They're not properly set up to serve iced coffee. Would like to see them buy some better/fresher beans to bring it up a notch. This is my biggest complaint. +++ Reuben was GREAT. Better than expected and a well crafted sandwich. Tasty components, excellent ratios, full of goodies. Even though service was fast it was assembled neatly. Not leaky, falling apart or even in need of a paper wrapper. Would have enjoyed slightly toastier bread. 100% intending to return to try out the wraps and salads. Nice work. read more

We order from here frequently, I've ordered food n paid for extra dressing and never got it, explained it and next order still never received it. Egg sandwich had barely aby eggs. Even after I let them know. Still on the next order barely any eggs. Asked for utensils last 3 times and didn't get it. There big salad only comes with a tiny container of dressing. Came for breakfast for the first time. I will say the inside was nicer than I expected but the food was worse than I expected based on the ratings. As for the food it's a no for me. The hash browns were extremely greasy I could barely eat them even after dabbing them. The pierogis must've been Mrs. T's frozen pierogis they tasted the exact same. Granted I do like that brand. The fruit cup didn't taste fresh it was all soggy. The bacon egg and cheese sandwich was mediocre. The only good thing really was the pricing. Food: Get the French toast croissant!!!! I've never had anything like it...such a genius concept! We ask ordered omelettes and crepes. Everything was really good! I also really liked their coffee! Staff: The waitress was hilarious. She really gave you the vibe of a mom n pop spot. Returned to Uncle Bob's for my followup visit and as I expected, 5 stars. Again the staff was wonderfully attentive and friendly. Today I went for the Mexican scramble. I am not a huge omelette fan so this was great way to "spice" up my usual egg order. The plate was packed full of egg, chorizo, veggies. Tasty home fries and toast with a side of well done bacon. There is also something about diner coffee that is better than other places. My family had a veggie omelette and tall stack of pancakes and were quite pleased. We will definitely be back! read more

Breakfast from Uncle Bob's the other day was JUST OK. I ordered the rodeo burger and 2 foot long hot dogs. The burger was well put together but the beef patty used was void of all flavor. It had ZERO flavor which was very strange. The hotdogs were decent. Not overly buttered roll. Additional items in the order were home fries which were thrown out after two bites. They had an odd flavor and just overall not very good. The poached eggs were perfectly cooked and very good. We also ordered the perogies which were also good but they also tasted exactly like Mrs T's frozen variety so who knows. Overall 3 stars is what you get here and that's being pretty generous. I'm sure I'll order from Uncle Bob's again to see if the next order is better because there are some neat things on the menu. read more

Not a bad place to visit. We came right at the end of a rush so it was busy there. Nice staff but gave me cranberry juice when I asked for orange juice, I think they were just moving fast trying to get everyone served. The food options are good, something for everyone, a typical breakfast spot. The food came out in decent time considering the rush. I needed to add some salt and pepper to my food but otherwise, not bad at all. The stars were mostly because of our timing going in, I'm sure my rating will improve the next time I visit. read more

It smelled horrible and it looks like some ones pre chewed food and put on the plate, and it taste horrible it leave a really awful taste in your mouth. The eggs were OK and home fries were kinda okay maybe some seasoning and make the chunks smaller. And the bread could have come with some butter. Bad first experience. They say the first impression is the most important one and it wasn't a good start. To see that this place got 4.5 out of 5 stars it's tough to agree with. Maybe my first experience won't happen IF I return another time. I'll start of by talking about when I placed my order for PICKUP. The woman on the other line was sort of rushing me or trying to get me to order quickly. As soon as I was done or near done putting the "period" in my sentence she would say, "anything else?" And the reason I'm bringing this up and why this is important is because she forgot to add something in my order. So my son had to eat some of my breakfast because his order wasn't in the bag. So this woman was so quick to get my next order that she forgot to write the ones I was giving her. So that was was strike one. Strike two: After the fact and after I got home, started to piece the little hints that took place. The phone call and missing an order. The next one was when I asked the person that was cashing me out for the order I placed for pickup. I noticed behind the desk, a MESS but I didn't think anything of it. Bustling and hustling in the restaurant business happens so whatever but I asked the waitress if I can have some syrup. She said, "oh there's some in the bag already" ..."ok, but can I have one more?" She said, "sure" and that was done. Paid my bills and headed home. Turns out, I Get home and the only syrup in the bag was the ONE that I asked for. Strike 3: The sausage links that I got for my son, were HORRIBLE!! I'm not a picky eater what's so ever so when I spit something out, it's bad! The first thing that came to mind was: Cheap Bulk! Nothing of quality in that sausage. My wife saw my reaction and she took a bite and agreed... Spit it out and threw them away. 4 sausages at I think at about $4.50 (correct me if I'm wrong). Strike 4: I ordered western and my wife had the two large eggs your way. Side of bacon and sausage and tall stack of pancakes which came out to $27+ ... Now looking back.... way to much for having all these strikes. The home fries were asked to be crispy. They were not crispy. The home fries were lacking flavor. It was as if they cut potatoes and heated them. Zero to hardly any flavor. This is when I started to see the efforts in the front end trickle down to the back end. The pancakes were of the same quality of the sausages, something about them didn't remind me of the pancakes that I'm used to having. They were really fluffy and the only thing I tasted was the butter that they put on them and the little Syrup that I used from the small container that was given to me that I had to share with my wife. My wife ate half of her breakfast. Strike 5 was just simply the frustration from the beginning. The missed order and the ONE syrup that I asked for because if I accepted the one she said was in the bag, I would have had dried pancakes or no pancakes. And the pancakes were $7.50 if I'm correct, for 4 pancakes. Just tough to see this place get 4.5 stars but everyone has their own opinion, right? Would I return? No. Unless my original spot: Parkside Cafe (Bristol) is closed like it was today. :( read more

we got take out breakfast for Father's Day. the food is always good. we ordered blueberry pancakes, bacon, eggs and a muffin for the next day. the pancakes were excellent as was the bacon. I couldn't tell you how the eggs, French toast or muffin were as the door dasher left the bag outside my front porch instead of inside. the squirrels got to the food before I could. in any case, next time we will go to the restaurant as the service is always friendly and their coffee is great. read more

Thanks Yelp for directing us here after an early morning trip to the hot air balloon launch in Plainville! I'd give this 4.5 stars if allowed. It's small but we enjoyed a simple egg breakfast with great homefries and split a delicious order of fruit crepes which were really the highlight. Our waitress Sue was excellent and attentive and the only one on this busy Sunday Am but easily handled the crowd with a friendly smile! I'm not sure when we'd be out this way again, though getting up at 4 am for the balloon launch was well worth it and I'd definitely return to Uncle Bobs if in the area! read more
