It's been a while since I've eaten here. The restaurant was really cold, I'm not sure what the reason was, but I kept my coat on as did other people dining in. I ordered a lunch special of 3 rolls which came with soup and a salad. The salad was very good.... fresh and crunchy with the delicious ginger dressing. At other places the dressing gets watered down and there's a puddle at the bottom of the bowl because the lettuce is not drained well. This salad was well drained and very tasty. The miso soup was hot and full of flavor. The rolls were excellent, and while not looking large, they had a decent amount of filling.,.just not a heavy layer of rice on the outside.. which I prefer. I took my son there last Tuesday June 9th for his 40th birthday. We both absolutely love this place. The whole wait staff is so kind and friendly we went early so there was plenty of tables my son ordered the general tosao's chicken and I ordered the sesame seed chicken. Both were huge portions and we both had fried rice I paid $3 extra for the pineapple rice which was amazing. They have music going the TVs on to the music and it's just a nice cozy place. We really enjoy it we've been there many times and I can't say enough good things about this restaurant we definitely will be back again and again. Came here for dinner on a Friday evening. We had no wait time and the restaurant was a bit more than half way full. The service was fairly fast, and the ambiance gave the vibe of a place you go to for the food more than the atmosphere, which I've usually found to be a good sign for the food I went for the curry casserole, and was really intrigued as to what that could possibly be. My partner went for a variety of different vegetarian sushi options. The best item of the bunch was definitely the peanut avocado sushi, never would've thought to put peanuts in a sushi roll but the crunch worked really well, and even when adding soy sauce it didn't get overly salty The curry casserole was pretty disappointing unfortunately. It was a fairly standard looking yellow curry, my guess is the casserole component is just that they included a whole bunch of different innards that could go with a curry. The quality of the ingredients gave off frozen section at Walmart vibes, and the curry was pretty bland Given the tremendous menu and number of strong reviews I'm hoping curry just isn't their strong suit, but overall I'd recommend looking elsewhere if you're in the area read more

Owners Shaoxiu Lin, Bilin Gao and Jinwen Li opened Spoon and Fork in 2019 in the former Tabatha's and former Ricky's on West Genesee Street in Auburn. My wife and I both love Asian food, and my wife had randomly stopped in for lunch one day when in the area and had raved about the place to me. We had plans in Auburn one night that fell through, and were only a few minutes away, so we decided to go grab dinner. Tiny parking lot with only 4 spots, but plenty of on street parking. It was a Friday night and we were sat immediately and brought menus. Tons to choose from. We ordered crab rangoon, pan fried dumplings, and spring rolls for appetizers. My wife went with the sushi dinner for her main entree and I chose the Massamon curry with chicken dish. We were given complimentary edamame and a complimentary desert after as well. Everything was delicious. My wife has a very specific style of crab rangoon she prefers, and I have a very specific style of dumplings I prefer, and Spoon & Fork is the first place we've found that satisfies both of our preferences. My curry was great, although much milder than I expected, and my wife said her sushi was fresh and delicious. I had also ordered lo mein to bring for lunch the next day, but we were given so much food that it wasn't necessary, but was also delicious. What we ordered probably fed both of us for about 3 days. Ordered the beef with vegetables with white rice. No flavor at all. Second time this has happened. Used to love it. Crab Rangoons used to have a lighter wonton than now. The building looks tiny from the road but is actually quite spacious inside. We were brought to a room with a divider in it as another party was there, it gave us and them the privacy for our meals. The staff was all so friendly welcoming us, our waitress was very pleasant. The food was really great, we didn't dislike anything. The spicy basil chicken has jalapeños in it, so it's a slightly different flavor than you would get traditionally, but it's still really great. Crab Rangoon were nice and crisp, decent flavor. I've never had Crab Rangoon so I decided to start with that (so glad I did) generous portion with crispy outside with a delicious creamy crab interior that was served with duck sauce. I choose chicken with garlic sauce for my entree. The vegetables were crisp tender, chicken was plentiful and the garlic sauce had a little spice to it. I had enough left over for another meal. I used to be a HUGE curry casserole junkie!!! It WAS phenomenal. I ordered my take-out curry casserole, so looking forward to this tasty dish. Boy, was I disappointed!!! It was HORRIBLE!!! The only vegetable in it were those little baby corns. It was watery, no depth in flavor, no creaminess. NASTY!!!! I called and complained (I typically never complain about food). I was told to come back and they'd give me another one. I was home for the night and asked if they would honor a replacement the next time I ordered. She said yes. Fast forward to today, I tried once again, ordering what was once my favorite dish. They wouldn't honor the replacement dinner that they promised me. Once again, the dish was sub-par at best. For my first visit to this restaurant, I ordered General Tso Chicken with fried rice and a side salad with ginger dressing. The main dish had a nice tangy flavoring to it, and the chicken tasted really good. A step above regularly take out Chinise. The fried rice was bland. But, I flavored it with the General Tso sauce. The salad was fresh, and the ginger dressing gave it a nice oriental touch to it. Overall, my meal was really good. The service at the restaurant was very friendly. Too many food styles on the menu. Hard to do anything well when you take on too much. Sushi, hibachi, Japanese, Korean, Thai and Chinese. Sushi is not at all flavorful. My spicy tuna roll was bland. My wife got a spring roll... It was lettuce, several tiny shrimp and the rice paper wrapper. The peanut sauce was good... But no noodles, no basil...? Her SOHO roll was bland and all the fish had the same texture... No differences as would be expected. The ginger on the plate tasted like it had been rinsed off. Hot tea arrived room temperature and had to be returned. I ordered the Panang Curry Chicken. My wife ordered the Chicken Katsu. The Panang should have been VERY spicy... Barely a burn. The Katsu, while crunchy, tender and moist, was tasteless. And the Katsu Sauce... Yeeesh. In truth, I'm not entirely convinced the chicken was completely cooked. Let me preface this one by saying that I am a regular patron of Spoon and Fork, and I'm grateful that Auburn FINALLY has Thai and other asian fair, but it leaves me longing for the Boston/NYC/Providence Thai that I'm used to. I haven't been back inside since the first time we went when they first opened due to COVID, but the service ended up forgetting about us and we waited 40 minutes to order. Since then, their takeout is good and fast, and their online system makes it easy to order and pick up. I usually get the pad Thai, though end up having to doctor it up with more peanuts/peanut butter and grocery store pad Thai sauce to get it to taste the way I expect it. (Again, being the only Thai place, that's still worth the extra work). The Drunken Noodles/Pad See Ew is lacking flavor, which breaks my heart because it's truly my favorite dish. Every now and then I'll get it hoping it improved but alas I think the recipe is set in stone. The sushi is decent; it definitely scratches the sushi itch but there's better in Auburn/Skaneateles, though their special rolls are tasty. The appetizers aren't stellar, but if you want variety, they have it for sure. All in all I'm grateful that Spoon and Fork is in Auburn, the interior is beautiful, and I hope that once things get back to normal that they get a better groove for the inside dining service! read more
