We tend to only go here on Friday's during lent lol. They have a lot of seafood options (cold & hot) which works when I'm super hungry and have to keep religious observations while having a lot of meat filled options for my non-religious fiancée lol. The service is okay, while it's a buffet and you get your own food, they still have servers getting your drinks and they can be a little slow at that. "Revolting slop" sums up Mitsui Buffet pretty accurately. When dealing with any place that sells food in bulk, you have to adjust your expectations accordingly. However this was on a completely different level of grossness. First, there was zero clean silverware at the buffet the entire time we were there. We had to keep asking for clean forks before they were finally brought out. The floor was filthy and littered with trash. Just looking at it, you could tell that at the very least, it hadn't been cleaned or picked up the whole day, if not days before The dumpling soup had a weird snotty consistency and no seasoning. It was just egg-water goop floating in broth with a snotty wad of dumpling bobbing up and down in it. The desserts had been left out all day, with the cake pieces being exposed to air so long that they were dry and tough to the touch. It's pretty sad when you refer to a slice of cake as "tough". The chocolate fountain had not been cleaned recently, as the entire area was covered in splattered dried-up, cold Choco crust with used sticks, fruit and silverware littering the tray below it, discarded remnants of previous customers chocolatey endeavors. The noodles were somehow soggy and crunchy at the same time, a sign that they were initially undercooked and then killed under a heat lamp. By far the worst offender was the shrimp. Apparently they don't clean it before cooking, so every one still had the black, poop-filled intestinal tract left in. I pressed on one with my fork and out squirted the green-black poopie goodness. Hard pass. Every single item we tried was either the lower end of mediocre or absolutely inedible. The only thing that any of us finished or even remotely liked was the fried rice. It was pretty tasty! And the Pepsi. That was it. To top it all off, they have the audacity to charge $18.99 per person to eat this landfill. If you really want the authentic Mitsui Buffet experience, do yourself a favor, save the cash and visit a better restaurant right after closing hours, scoop a handful of food glop from the trash can and chow down on that. At least it was originally made with care. read more

The Food: The food ranged from great to mediocre depending on what you went and grabbed. The tempura vegetables for instance were tought and chewy, while the vegetable noodles had a nice light and subtle flavor without being overwhelming. The big winner was the sushi bar, which can easily make up for the price of your seat. The tongs they have for the sushi are covered in the spicy mayo, but you can also ask for a fresh roll to be made. There is no self-serving for drinks, so you are reliant on the wait staff for it. Desserts: Much like the food, the desserts range from good to mediocre. My favorite was the coffee cake, but some of the other cakes were stale or flavorless. Absolutely avoid the scoopable ice cream, as they just have a sitting container of filthy water. Staff: The waiter qe had was fine, but the staff behind the counter was inattentive at best. The entire time the sushi and pick-your-ingredients fried rice bar were completely unmanned. Atmosphere: The place very dark inside, and a little warm. And also they had Newsmax on, which lost alot of points. read more

I've been meaning to write this review for a while now. The food's average, service is alright, nothing special about this buffet. It's like any other buffet in Fresno and Clovis. But what this review is really about is the prize wheel. For a dollar, you can spin their prize wheel which has prizes including a free soda, beer, and jewelry. I was excited when I spun the wheel and won a free bracelet. See, they have these cute bead bracelets on display and I thought that was what I won. NOPE. She pulled out this little red string and asked if I wanted her to tie it on for me. I had to try so hard to keep a straight face. I was so disappointed. It was one of the most hilarious things that have ever happened to me. And she was so excited to tie the "bracelet" on me too! I just told her no thanks, I'll just tie it when I get home. Some of you will say that I should be grateful that I won a prize. To be honest, I'm so torn between being disappointed and completely amused. I laugh about it but it pisses me off at the same time. I came during dinner time on Saturday. The buffet was mostly empty. A good 90% of the food I tried was over-salted, I couldn't enjoy anything because all I could taste was SALT. I thought this was just me, but my guest also agreed. The desserts were lackluster and bland. Service was awesome. Our waitress was friendly and welcoming. That's the only reason I'm giving it 2 stars. I hope the owner takes into account me and the other reviewers' negative ratings to improve their buffet. Staff is so nice, but the food is horrendous. Like you're going to get sick, horrendous. A sick employee was running the stir fry (choose your own area), sneezed in his hand and wanted to take my food to cook it. I feel bad because the staff is kind, but really, the food is THAT bad. Visited Mitsui for the first time yesterday. I absolutely loved it. The staff was great. So many different food choices. I couldn't possibly try everything in one visit. Oh I tried but got full after my third plate. The sushi went fast. The noodle bowl was one of my favorites. My iced tea was constantly replenished. I am sitting here as i type this. Came all excited for crab legs. Only to find out they only put out 10 legs at a time. Then you have to keep on asking them to put them out . Which i don't think at a buffet you should have to do. It turns me off from wanting to eat or even pay the full amount. Had to tell the waiter that the food was cold so that they can turn up the heaters the food. Or even make fresh food. You should NEVER have to tell a buffet to make fresh food. It should already be available. All in all not worth traveling across town to eat. When things are limited and you have to ask for them. We had a party of five. If I could give this place 0 starts I would. Absolutely worst service ever! My 8 year old daughter was charged as an adult and when I went to the cash register I let them know her age and that I was mistakenly charged as an adult instead of a Child. The cashier told me that that they go based off of the height chart next to the door. No where in the restaurant does it say that they go based off that chart. Instead on their price menu it shows that from a certain age to a certain age it would be a certain price. You know based on their AGE and NOT their height!. Food was the quality you would expect for an all you can eat buffet and I was happy until the very end. When it came time to pay I tried to use the coupon that was on their website for buy three dinners and get one free. The cashier told me that he couldn't accept a digital copy because he needed a paper coupon to track through their system. Keep in mind, this was a coupon that was in digital format on their website that said nowhere it had to be printed out. If I could give this place zero stars I would. This place was absolutely disgusting. The food was old, the meat was rubbery and old. Even the Chile paste was over salted and not good at all. While I tried to stomach the food I felt something hard in my mouth and I pulled out was a metal piece of a sponge. When I brought it to their attention all they did was change out the noodles and offer me a discount for my NEXT visit. They did nothing for me right there and then. Absolute worst food ever. Nothing was fresh, half of it was lukewarm or cold. I wasn't able to eat anything but the fruit, and the pineapple was so old and dried out it was tough. The bathroom was beyond disgusting. Filthy with overflowing trash cans, unflushed toilets (all of them) and no toilet paper to be found in the entire restroom. I lost what little appetite I had after viewing the conditions in that area. The place was almost empty which tells me they rarely check their restrooms even when slow, the restroom may not have even been cleaned today. All in all I was sorely disappointed and unhappy about my dining experience there. No ambiance, a sit-com on one TV with closed caption on and sports on the other and some strange background music. The service was none existent. No one lifted a finger other than to bring sodas and napkins, no one cleared any plates. Two waiters stood a distance away chatting. It was a waste of $45 in my book. I wish we had called the manager and asked for a comp when we first tasted the food. My husband ate, but said it was the worst sushimi he'd ever had. I only hope we don't get sick from the food. Nothing overly special about this buffet. I tried the hot & sour soup and it was rather bland. Some of the protein dishes were dried out because they seemed to be out under those heat lamps for far too long. The serve was pretty in attentive, never came by to refill my water. The great thing there was thestir fry station where u pick items u want and they fry it fresh. My granddaughter said the chocolate ice cream tasted like nail polish smell .
