DON'T JUDGE THIS BOOK BY ITS COVER! I was a little skeptical at first when my friends started driving and said it was far away. We were going to go to get Chinese food... why the bother driving so far and pass so many other Chinese food restaurants... so I thought. After driving quite a ways they pulled into a parking lot and pointed to the location of where we would be eating. I was not impressed with the outside! I was even more unimpressed as I walked in a room filled with a few tables, a checkout counter and a long cold drink case that looked like I was at a local mini-market. At first I wasn't sure I wanted to eat here but after my friend took me to the drink case and showed me the variety of drinks and soda I was intrigued. The case is filled with gourmet soda, beer, wine and drinks from around the world. FRIENDLY AND FUN The owners recognized my friend and immediately greeted them and guided them to the table. One of the two owners was extremely friendly and talked about how they missed seeing them. The owners knew them by name and began to talk about what was on the menu. I guess my friends love a menu item that involves asparagus and they were out. The owner apologized but said they couldn't get good quality asparagus and so they had to drop the items from the menu for today. My friends had not been there for about nine months but the owner seemed to have remembered every detail of their lives and they enjoyed laughing and talking about the past and life in general. I was completely impressed with the depth of conversation and the genuine hearts of the owners. FRESH MADE AND FRESH INGREDIENTS We started off with some wontons which at first I wasn't sure I was going to be impressed. After the wontons hit the table and we ate them I realized this wasn't your typical Chinese food. Each one was delicately put together, the ingredients was unique and the flavor amazing. At this point I realized "this Isn't your typical Chinese food place." My Kung pow shrimp was perfectly cooked. The shrimp was tender and the sauce appeared to be homemade and not out of some jar/cans. I confirmed this with the owner and they said they make everything fresh each day. Each of my friends shared some food from their plate and I am was so intrigued with the flavor co! FAVORITE CHINESE FOOD PLACE TO DATE! I love to eat, my girth proves it! I am still a picky eater. If you are in Yorba Linda California and have a chance to visit this restaurant... DO IT! Don't be fooled by the outside. Don't be unimpressed with the interior. Go blindfolded and just taste the food you'll understand what I'm talking about. ***Hands down the best Chinese food ever! These two gals know how to cook and also know their customers by name. The texture and size of the shrimp was OK. ~Chicken Chow Mein-2.5 Stars AOK noodle and chicken. There was not too much flavor. ~Orange Chicken- 2 Stars There was not a whole lot of flavor. The batter was soft and chewy. ~Asparagus Beef-1 Star I love asparagus. This dish came only with the stems (the woody part of the asparagus). I am not sure what happened to the tips. Perhaps it's hard to cook with the tips? Or, maybe it was just a bulk bag of stems which costs less. The meat tasted like the oil and was super chewy. ~Service-3 Stars AOK. The owner is very sweet and friendly and genuinely cares about her small business. I ordered orange chicken and chicken fried rice. Wow! It was piping hot when I picked it up. Very fresh and delicious. Was relieved to get a text from them telling me I left my debit card there. Being away from home, this was a big deal to me and I really appreciated the gesture. Haven't done a Yelp review in awhile but I felt compelled to write one for Mix Gourmet, especially given the hard times small businesses are facing with COVID-19. My dad had been talking about trying Mix for awhile since they live so close by it. I'm so glad we finally did! The food was tasty, fresh, and piping hot both times I purchased it. So far, I've tried the chicken chow mein, kung pao chicken, beef and broccoli, and shrimp/cream cheese wontons. All were excellent and not oily or overly sweet at all. I also appreciate how many precautions the restaurant is taking. They have contactless payment options, pick-up only, everyone is wearing masks and gloves, and they sanitize their pens before you touch them to sign a receipt. They even offer pick-up from your car. Even if you don't think this is necessary, for a lot of people it's peace of mind to know the people handling your food are being careful. I will definitely be back and recommend Mix! read more

Came here multiple times and get the family meal. The owner is very nice and would check up on your table often to make sure everything is alright. She's always gleefully greeting the customers and attending to them. The orange chicken is better than expected, totally crispy on the inside and outside is doused with sauce. But amazingly it is not overpowering, neither too sweet nor too sour. It was great with brown rice. I also ordered egg rolls which are average. They are crispy and hot, but maybe more salt is needed or more flavor in the filler. Eaten with the dipping sauce completes the flavor but it would be nice if all that flavor was already in the egg roll. The kungpao chicken was good and the red chili really adds the flavor for any kungpao dish. Food was hot and steamy as it's made fresh. The cashew chicken seems to use the same sauce as the former except some ingredients. Overall, I would eat here again when convenient. But sometimes they are not open the hours when I'm looking for this type of food. Otherwise, I would be going here more often. read more

this was my first time trying chinese food in california i was craving chow mein and decided to try this place cause of the good reviews. I got home and opened it up and I couldn't really smell anything and then when i tried it there was literally no flavor, i wish i could be nice about this but it was the not plain noodles i've ever eaten. I had to put it on the stove and add soy sauce and oyster sauce to try and make it taste like chow mein, i was so disappointed. It sucks because the staff was super sweet and I wish them the best but you guys gotta add some flavor to those noodles or something. We live in the area and have been coming here for a couple of years. There aren't a lot of chinese restaurants in the YL/AH area, so I'm glad we have Mixed Gourmet. We have only ordered "to go," so I'll comment on that. It seems like the same lady always answers the phone and then helps you when you arrive to pick up your order. She is very friendly and helpful. I've never had problems with the order not being ready when she said it would be. She is always friendly when you pick up your order as well. Now on to the food. We usually get the family special with pomegranate chicken, beef with broccoli or chinese greens, chow mein and either the potstickers or egg rolls. The food is tasty and consistent.
