Food was fresh. We ordered Born Again roll, 2 orders of Salmon belly sashimi, sashimi dinner (comes with miso soup and salad--miso soup was so-so and the salad looks kind of pathetic, it tastes ok. Service was prompt. So prompt that I feel rushed to order coz they kept asking if we're ready to order. Also I noticed one of the servers keeps watching and was always ready to remove any plate we are emptying. Ambience was ok, quiet when we went for dinner. Saw a few take out orders.

This is a good place if you're looking for some fresh sushi near Costco! The service is friendly and the speed at which food comes out of the kitchen is really fast! The only reason I don't give this place a higher rating is because I felt that the rolls (we ordered 5 different rolls) and they all kind of tasted similar in my opinion. I think their menu has too many items on there and the rolls are heavily sauced up that to me, they kind of felt the same. Yellowtail sushi was really fresh! Salmon belly nigiri was delicious and fatty! Escolar was good seared! This place is good. If you're around the Costco area its a nice place to try. It's definitely no Japanese high end Omakase place, but it isn't some low level revolving sushi place either. So if you're looking for sushi that's kind of in the middle, then this is a solid place. This is 100% my personal opinion.

Another great time at Sai! He's the best! Always my first choice on a Friday after a long week!

Stumbled upon this hidden gem of a sushi restaurant, and it has quickly become a go-to spot for me. We ordered the Hajikami Dinner Sushi Combo along with an extra California roll for 2 people. It was more than enough food. To top it off, we were served complimentary edamame. The service was quick, attentive, and efficient. Restaurant is small and cozy. The spicy tuna roll was a standout--it had just the right amount of kick, leaving some warmth without being overwhelming. As someone who usually steers clear of anything spicy, I was pleasantly surprised by how mild and tasty the spicy tuna roll was!

Sushi is always good here even to go. Service is good, friendly ,Will definitely come back

Amazing my new fav place for sushi. We go here every week when I am not traveling. The owner and his wife make us feel very special when we walk in. Everything is fresh, made to order, also great artistic presentation, almost too beautiful to eat. A MUST for the Yorba Linda, Anaheim Hills locals and also for visitors in the area.

Sai Sushi is one of my favorite sushi spots in the area. This quaint restaurant is always busy and full of locals during prime dinner hours (even during the weekdays). I've only been a few times so far but every time I've gone, the service has been friendly & fast. It's easy to notice their relationship with their regulars, which I appreciate. They have a decent amount of items on their menu, including a good amount of sushi rolls to choose from. My favorite so far is the Scallops Lover roll as I'm a huge fan of scallops. The sushi dinner combos are a great deal. There's several combo selections to choose from (sushi, sushi & sashimi or sashimi only) and all of it includes salad and miso soup. Their fish is fresh and portion sizes are pretty good for the price. They give you a good amount of fish in their rolls. Of all the items we've tried so far, I most likely wouldn't order their ramen again. For ~$7, you get a bowl of instant ramen. It's not bad for the price, but don't except the traditional Japanese ramen.

The sushi was really good! Everything tasted fresh and well made, and the flavors were balanced without being overwhelming. I came here for AYCE and these were just a few of the dishes we ate. The fish was high quality, the rice had a good texture, and the rolls were filling without being too heavy. Overall, it was an enjoyable meal and a place I'd happily come back to!

We had a late lunch here yesterday. Walked in and it wasn't busy at all. We picked our table and ordered within minutes. I loved the assorted lunch Sashimi. Tuna, Salmon, and I can't recall the third. Fresh, no smell and tasty. Paired with a glass of house Chardonnay.. delish! Wife ordered salmon lover roll and was made perfectly. Highly recommend the poke bowl, super fresh greens and fish. I'll be back! Arigato!!

It turned what could have been a simple dinner into a memorable experience from the moment I sat down. I ordered the sashimi plate, and it was absolutely outstanding--fresh, beautifully prepared, and surprisingly well-priced for the quality. What impressed me most was the honesty of the staff. I was considering ordering a larger portion, but they actually talked me out of it because they knew I wouldn't finish it. They were right. That small gesture showed me they cared more about giving me a great experience than squeezing a few extra dollars out of my wallet. That kind of customer service is rare these days. What makes this experience even more memorable is that I had just come from X Fish Izakaya, where I spent nearly an hour waiting to be seated while watching people who arrived after me get seated first. I left feeling frustrated and completely overlooked. Walking into Chubby Sushi was the exact opposite experience. Here, I felt welcomed, appreciated, and genuinely taken care of from the moment I walked through the door. As if the food and service weren't enough, on my way out I met a well-known food reviewer and even got the chance to hold a giant tuna head that Chubby Sushi had on display for a photo. It was one of those unexpected moments that made an already great night unforgettable. Sometimes a bad experience leads you exactly where you're supposed to be. I'm genuinely glad X Fish Izakaya dropped the ball because it led me to discover Chubby Sushi. This wasn't just a great meal--it was one of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time and one I'll remember for years to come. I'll definitely be back. Chubby Sushi didn't just earn my business--they earned a customer for life.

The spicy tuna crispy rice is good but I think it would be better fresh at the establishment because it got a little soggy, which can be expected when ordering takeout. I had a cali roll with salmon on top. The fish was amazing, very fresh and the lemon on top really set everything over the edge. The spicy tuna crispy rice was good, a little soggy but I believe that is due to it being a takeout order. It did taste a little too oily for my liking though. As for the pricing... This place is a little more expensive than what I usually am willing to spend for good sushi. The takeout packaging is very nice, not your typical cheap to go containers. I enjoyed this food and would definitely try it again (maybe at the actual establishment next time) but would recommend if you are in the area!

This time we left without much desire to come back, and for me it comes down to one thing: how the food tasted. The amuse bouche was an inauspicious start -- small bits of a cooked protein (chicken?) in a standard Japanese onion vinaigrette. The protein was unidentifiable, I didn't finish it, and I'm not sure how it's supposed to set the table for a sushi dinner. Ohshima's strength is supposed to be nigirizushi: small rice, generous fish, with a carefully chosen condiment and/or tare to enhance each piece. That formula worked on the pieces that got tare -- akami and masu were the standouts of the evening. But on the remaining pieces, the itamae misted the fish with what he described as yuzu after construction. Yuzu has a distinct floral-citrus character that's hard to miss; what came through instead was a watery taste that muted the fish's natural flavor. Toro, which should have been a highlight, suffered the most from this. Water is the enemy of flavor, and whatever was in that spray bottle undermined the whole point of the condiment approach. Three of the thirteen pieces were closely related jacks -- hiramase, kampachi, and shima aji -- which bordered on redundant given how similar they are in flavor profile. The gindara was torched aggressively enough to leave a residual propane taste. At $260 for two before tip (including two large Sapporo), I'd also note that the diner's-choice extra piece offered on our first visit wasn't available this time -- a quiet downgrade, though I understand the economics. The technical execution was competent. Nothing was bad in an obvious way. But the watery flavor issue was consistent and consequential enough to make this a shadow of what it was.
