I came to Ramen Akimoto with my friends for the 50% off deal this President's Day weekend. It was raining pretty hard and my friends and I waited for about 20 minutes since this deal was for the first 150 orders. I got the spicy miso tsukemen and added chashu and green onions! We also got the kaarage and the portions were HUGE! I definitely recommend grabbing the mayo. I liked how umami the broth of the tsukemen was. However, the temperature of the broth changed very fast! I would love if the noodles were a little hotter so the dipping doesn't change the temperature and if there was a bit more chashu. However, the tsukemen was good with flavor and variety of veggies in the broth. There was a good amount of bean sprouts and bamboo shoots! I definitely recommend this to people who like Japanese food! Tip: Parking is ample and there's a restroom inside the establishment! There's utensils and condiments on the side of the table.

Came here specifically to try the tsukemen. Overall, the noodles were ok, but the broth really lacked flavor. Usually, tsukemen broth is very flavorful, but this one tasted very one dimensional and lacked taste. The staff were nice and we were seated quickly. I see great reviews for the other dishes here, so I would probably try a different type of ramen or one of the curries next time.

Decent Ramen place in the Yorba Linda Area. Service was very fast and everything came out really quick. Tsukemen was really good and the Karaage was huge. If you're craving ramen and in the area definitely check this place out!

This was my first time at Ramen Akimoto. The overall vibe of the place was very immersive in terms of the music played , the proximity between the kitchen and the tables as well as the aroma. I felt like this is what a next door ramen shop in Japan would look like. The service was okay, the servers were doing their best. The ramen wasn't my favorite, I felt that it was lacking in depth unfortunately. It wasn't bad by any means, and there was a variety of broth flavors but I personally felt like the spice was too intense and took away any flavor. Also I'm accustomed to very hot ramen , ours came out lukewarm which was disappointing. The chicken Chashu, noodles were good but the broth for me was not rich enough and seemed diluted. I do think it's work checking out as a local spot.

We went here on a Saturday for lunch because on their social media page, they were having a 50% off deal for any Tsukemen dipping style ramen. We arrived before the store opened, but there were already about 30 people ahead of us forming a line outside. (I didn't think people were this dedicated to 50% off deals, but I had committed too, so I'm just as guilty.) Once the restaurant officially opened at 11:30 am, they started letting people inside. It still took about one hour before we officially got seated. There was disorganization letting people in, because although there was already a line formed outside, the staff let people who scheduled online also come into the front. Some of these people who scheduled online were also waiting in line, so we didn't know which one had priority, nor did the staff seem to know or explain. Reasonably, a good number of confused customers waiting in line got upset and double-booked an appointment online and in person thereafter. The restaurant is relatively small, considering the enormous line outside. At the time, the air conditions/fans were not working, and this was on a very hot summer day. I'm not sure why they didn't leave the door open for some ventilation, but I also feel bad for the kitchen staff since they would feel the brunt of the heat. The waiters got our order quickly and we got our food within 10 minutes, despite the hectic and busy event. We ordered the pork deluxe Tsukemen. The serving size is gigantic, so it was definitely worth the price, plus it was 50% off. The broth wasn't as fishy as expected (compared to some of the ones in actual Japan. I know, not really a fair comparison.) Summary: - CLEANLINESS. Clean, compact tables. All utensils are placed on the table, so you don't need to flag a waiter. Disorganized seating system for this large event; however, I am sure this was a one-time case because they weren't prepared for this large outcome. - COSTS. $ Affordable. $22.75 on normal days. But this day was 50% off, so it was well worth it. - CUSTOMER SERVICE. The staff was quick and friendly. Just the beginning seating arrangements made a lot of customers upset. - FOOD QUALITY. Fresh and perfectly balanced. the Tsukemen broth is not too fishy. It is salty, so don't drink the broth by itself. - FOOD QUANTITY. Very large. You will be bloated when you finish it in one sitting. - BATHROOM. 1 single gender neutral bathroom. Only 1 toilet, so be prepared to wait. - WAIT TIME. About 1 hour to get seated (due to this one day event). About 10 minutes to receive food.

Service: server is very attentive and kind. We brought our dog so we needed outside sitting and she said normally we had to get to go option, but she was very kind enough to just serve us with the regular dishes. Checked back on us frequently if we needed anything. She was so sweet and kind! Food: 4.5/5. Curry and chicken karrage was so good. The ramen was okay for me. The broth was too bland Overall great experience here. Would come back here for the chicken karrage.

Thanks to Yelp for helping me discover this hidden gem, an authentic Japanese ramen spot right in Yorba Linda! Ramen Akimoto is owned and operated by a Japanese chef who trained in Japan, and you can truly taste that authenticity in every bowl. What sets this place apart is their chicken based broth, rather than the more commonly found pork bone broth. Their chicken paitan (鶏白湯) is rich, creamy, and deeply flavorful, but with a completely different aroma and taste profile than more commonly seen tonkotsu broth. We ordered the Chicken Paitan, Spicy Chicken Paitan, and of course, their signature Tsukemen, the thick & chewy noodles paired perfectly with the bold, concentrated dipping sauce. But the original chicken ramen stole the show with its comforting and soul warming flavor. The pork chashu was also excellent, tender with beautifully layered fat and a deep, savory taste. For sides, the karaage/fried chicken really surprised me. Both the regular and spicy were juicy, flavorful, and packed with that soy sauce essence. Honestly, some of the best Japanese karaage I have had in a while. The only item that didn't quite blow me away was the pan fried gyoza. They were a little tiny, decent, and paired well with the ramen, but didn't stand out compared to the other really tasty dishes. We also tried the Japanese curry, which was nicely balanced with a hint of sweetness and spice, classic and satisfying Japanese curry flavor. All in all, Ramen Akimoto is a true treasure for anyone craving real, authentic Japanese ramen. If you are curious to experience the rich and unique flavor of Chicken Paitan, this place is absolutely worth the drive.

The noodles, broth and condiments were all delightful. Service was fast and parking pretty easy. There aren't many tsukemen shops around the area, but I'm glad to find this gem in Yorba Linda. Food/Drink- 5 stars Chicken Tsukemen with egg- the noodles, broth, and especially the egg were excellent. The noodles were bouncy and perfect al dente, the broth was flavorful without being too heavy, and the egg was perfectly cooked. I would've opted for the pork, instead of the chicken next time. The chicken was a bit dry Service- 5 stars Food came out quickly and service was great throughout Bottom Line Excellent ramen spot whenever I'm craving a hearty meal!

I really enjoyed the flavored egg chicken paitan ($17.00) here. I arrived when they opened for dinner service and sat at the bar. You can order through the paper sheet provided on each table. Or, in my case, you can talk with the waiter if you need extra explanation about the menu. Its broth is basically what you'd eat from a chicken noodle soup, so the flavor was familiar. The ramen had an outstanding flavored egg and noodles. It was probably the most delicious egg I've ever eaten. The noodles had a nice texture. I finished my dish a little quickly, so if I have the opportunity to come back I'd order more noodles. The ambience can get loud and feel a little hot inside. I didn't mind it too much since the restaurant was very casual and my tendency to finish ramen quickly.

More needs to be said about the Chicken Paitan ramen noodles here at Akimoto. It reminds me of the Chicken porridge my Filipino-Chinese coworker used to make for us. Chicken broth that is rendered for hours if not days to extract all the gooey elements to the bone. Throw in some perfectly cooked noodles, lean chashu and a ramen egg- and we are in noodle heaven. We also liked the Tsukemen noodles here with huge portions. The dipping broth had a nice dash of bonito and plenty of pork pieces in it too. It was a nice mix of pork, fat and fish it's just worked really well together. In summary, if you are starved go for the tsukemen. If you're chasing ramen umami- go for the Chicken Paitain deluxe. Akimoto is a very welcome addition to an area that needs good local East Asian and South Asian eats.

I'll call it a solid 4.5 stars. Confession: I don't love ramen. I know, it's sacrilege for a Yelper. To my credit, I keep trying (albeit, infrequently) in an attempt to grow an appreciation for it. Ramen Akimoto helped make some strides toward that goal. They use chicken broth, which is a giant plus, since I don't consume pork. Although I am not a ramen aficionado, I could plainly recognize that this was a well crafted bowl. You might even call it artisanal. Location is super convenient for me. Service was very friendly. All things considered, I will definitely be making a return visit. I look forward to trying the tsukemen next!

Stubble across this restaurant that's been in my neighborhood for years; had driven pass by a few times and decided to give it a try because my friend and I were wanting something warm on a cold Saturday night. I do love my Ramen, so I was excited for the menu. Restaurant is quaint and cozy with good size seating the staff was very welcoming. I ordered the Flavored Egg Chicken Paitan. This is the first for me. I usually go with the tsukemen ramen. I must say the paitan was very tasty the chicken flavored was nice creamy and rich but not overpowering and went well with the noodles. I really enjoyed it and cannot wait to come back to try the other dishes here. They do get quite busy and they have a joint waitlist on Yelp so be prepared if you come during busy hours. Definitely worth the wait and price. Restaurant is in a good size plaza here in the Yorba Linda neighborhood with ample parking spaces. Highly recommended!!

Decided to try this ramen place since it's near the Tokyo central. Came on a day of limited menu and only jiro ramen was available. Noodle itself was nice and chewy. The rest were somewhat underwhelming. First of all, there were just too much ingredients in the bowl of ramen. Felt very heavy. The added garlic was a whole lot of it, got heartburn afterwards. Flavor of soup was lacking, mainly felt like just an oily based soup. Pork was way too thick, though tender. Also tried miso ramen. Soup was a bit funky, almost a little bit of bitter taste to it. One bright spot was the chicken karrage was nicely fried. Overall this was not what I had expected. Nice location though, glad it's in the neighborhood. But just didn't hit the spot for me.

Ages ago, during Titan-con, the anime/nerd convention run by the college, my friends and I decided to grab some ramen here. I could barely fit in the car since I couldn't take the Oda Nobunaga hat off of my head without taking off the wig, so that was a very hilarious memory. We came slightly before the weekend lunch rush so we didn't have to wait, but I can see this place getting super busy and fisted. There's bar counter seating (which we got) that surrounds the entire kitchen area and a decent amount of tables, but knowing people's love for ramen, and how a lot of the OC is a hellscape, it can get quite fisted. Service was friendly and welcoming, being in such a busy area and near a college, I'm sure staff have seen and experienced much more and polite people in cosplay weren't too much of a shock. I got their Aka Ramen which is made from kara (spicy) miso. Comes with 2 pieces of chashu and a seasoned soft boiled egg. I'm not a fan of beansprouts, so I made sure to donate this to a friend. Nice rich miso broth, and like many Japanese restaurant places (that don't have the ability to super build and customize), it has a slight heat, but not super spicy in the slightest. Noodles are thin style and had a nice texture to it that went well with the broth. Overall, not bad.
