    Kung Pao Chicken
    Paul K.

This review is mostly for the food only since I took the food to go. I had the Kung pao chicken, the fish filet with scallion, and the wok fried string beans. The price is good for the quantity and quality of the food. Compared to a lot of Chinese food places I would give the food an 8/10 (10 being the best). The place was small but clean and quiet. The servers were very nice as well.

I was next door grabbing a drink when I came across this place. I noticed they had a small menu up on the window, I was interested in the wontons but they also had a variety of other dumplings. The restaurant is small but it wasn't crowded. They have plenty of tables. I walked in and was acknowledged right away. I ordered the wontons in red sauce. They were so tender and juicy. The flavor was amazing and they come with small cabbage. It was the perfect combo. I will definitely try more items on the menu.

I doubted the authenticity of this restaurant without trying it for myself, and I feel ashamed that I did not completely believe the other reviews. I became a believer after just one bite into the shumai and dumpling. The filling was not too salty, but it's fragrant and full of flavor. Each item was carefully crafted. The owner apologized for taking the time to steam the shumai properly, and I reassured him that I didn't mind waiting for good food. Fine culinary art is not to be rushed. I assumed the couple working there are the husband-and-wife team, but I couldn't confirm that. They did playfully tease each other like a married pair. Regardless, they were both friendly and welcoming. The interior was elegantly decorated without the typical clutter that accompanied an authentic Chinese restaurant. You might overlook this restaurant from the outside, but you would be missing out a memorable dining experience.

To my surprise, a Chinese restaurant right by In n Out on Imperial Hwy and La Palma. It's a cozy hole in the wall place. The owners were nice. Looks like wife, husband, and possible daughter or worker there. We ordered steamed croaker fish, sweet n sour ribs, veggies, bbq pork steam bun, beef roll, steamed dumplings, chicken, and some other items for take-out. The fish was ok, sweet n sour ribs were a little tough, veggies were good, bbq pork steam bun was not bad, steamed dumplings with sauce was ok, cold chicken w/ sauce. So overall, it was ok. It's a go-to place if we crave Chinese food because there's not a lot of them in this area. See you guys there.

High quality Chinese food in a most unexpected place, a small corner shopping mall. It's a simple place, no fancy decor, you come here for the food. The crab sauce noodle is excellent, you don't find that in too many Chinese restaurants. So I'd say this is a must try if you come here. They have an assortment of Dim Sum but I would say they are pretty run-of-the-mill ordinary. The menu is excellent. Lots of pictures so you can see how the dishes look like before you order them. Service is hit and miss. But if you go to Chinese restaurants often, you know service is often not where they put the emphasis. The staff was very polite and nice, but at times we found them to be too busy to even see us waving at them.

Love the food here. Very authentic Chinese food in this area. Especially love the twice cooked pork and bokchoy. Yum'

Cozy and quiet with amazing food. Wide variety of traditional dishes. You can get a glimpse into the kitchen and see the flames coming from the wok. We always over order so we can have left overs. They even take care of packing it up.

Kung Pao Beef, Wok Fried Beef with Broccoli, Fried Rice, steamed White Rice

Beautiful ambiance. Decent lunch crowd. Cool private space off the main dining room. My daughter and I stopped in for a quick lunch. Service was quick. Loved the place setting aesthetic. Waitress/cashier was efficient, and our entrees (beef broccoli and kung pao beef) were served quick and piping hot. The beef broccoli was more flavorful; the sauce on the kung pao beef was flavorless and even soy sauce couldn't help. The red chili sauce helped a lot though. Thankfully! My daughter says her steamed rice was hot (somehow I doubt it) and my fried rice was lukewarm/cold. Wish the fried rice was hot. Both steamed rice and fried rice tasted fine.

At first I thought it was a Vietnamese restaurant, but it turned out to be more of an Asian fusion place with a little bit of everything. It was super busy, so we had to wait a bit for a table. We were group of 5 and ordered: *Spicy Shrimp Wontons $16 *Shu Mai $15 *Shrimp Garlic Noodles $24.5 *Spicy Pork Belly Soup $14 *Ponzu Salmon Roll $15 *Hot Honey Fried Chicken Baos $32 The sushi roll was just okay, and the pork belly soup leaned salty with a broth that tasted almost like a Tom Yum base plus the pork flavor was a little strong. But the wontons, shu mai, garlic noodles, and fried chicken baos were all really tasty. Overall the food was pretty solid and service was great, too. It might be the only Asian restaurant among other food choices in Anaheim Packing House and we were glad to give it a try. 18 Folds 430 S Anaheim Blvd, Anaheim, CA 92805

One of the draws of eating here are the colorful lit lanterns in the evening. However, we ended dining here in the late afternoon while it was still light out. The inside of the restaurant was pretty much empty and it was a nice day, so we dined out on the patio. Even in the daytime, the colorful lanterns are cool to look at and there is a park area right next to the restaurant. The patio is wide open and completely in the shade. This was a late lunch/early dinner for us, so we just ordered a few different items off the menu to share. Their small sushi menu only has four different rolls and they were out of two of them, so we just had a California roll which was fine. The only sushi protein available is shrimp or krab so I definitely wouldn't recommend them for sushi. We also had an order of the chicken egg rolls. They had a good crisp on them, and the serving size was generous and very filling. The sweet chili dipping sauce had a good mix of sweetness with a little heat. They tasted fine, but it seemed like they were pre-made and lacked a little freshness. Finally, we tried an order of the spicy shrimp wontons off the dim sum menu. It comes with ten wontons, and the shrimp were good but the wontons were a little mushy. They had a nice heat that slowly creeps up on you after a few seconds. Service started out ok as we were able to place our order within ten minutes, but it then got progressively slower. I think there were only two other occupied tables and our three items took almost 25 minutes to come out. After the food arrived, we didn't see a server again for quite a while. Final rating 3.6 stars. These are the times I wish Yelp let you use half points because this experience was right in between 3 and 4 stars. I guess I'll round up to four stars for the relaxing patio and ambiance which is probably even better after dark.

As someone who eats out Chinese weekly, I am pretty familiar with Chinese restaurants in the vicinity. Without going into the taste of each of the dishes we tried, I will summarize by saying that the quality and authenticity were at best decent, almost panda express level, with the exception of the leek/shrimp cake which was yummy. The best Chinese in the area is still hands down Dynasty in Orange/Katella (solid 5 stars), Yang Ming Garden (solid 4.5 stars) followed by Royal Wok (solid 4 stars). China Palace was so shockingly bad when I tried it during covid that I never visited again, so no comment. Service at Mama Liu's was good and friendly, easy parking, but for the same amount of money, I'd happily drive a few miles north to Dynasty, Yang Ming and Royal Wok.

My favorite is jajangmyun, the black bean noodles. I love the food, it's a comfort food for me, but I tend to feel a bit of a food coma after a meal here. The criticisms in reviews don't seem fair. Some reviewers write about a rude attitude from employees and a belief that people who speak the Korean language are treated better than those who don't. I've seen people who only speak English and are courteous being treated warmly. Furthermore, the employees here don't miss a beat. The timing of when the entrees arrive to the table after ordering has been consistent over the years. I have not ever waited long for the kimchi, rice, and entrees to arrive, and for our family to be eating. Everything tastes the same as when I first started going decades ago, which is fantastic.
