Known for its Hip-Hop music theme, cool merch, and specialty drinks like Vietnamese Iced Coffee, Aztec Mocha Iced Latte 10/10, Horchata Iced Latte, and the house-made MG Signature Drink (pandan syrup and coconut cream). I was surprised to see they also serve craft beer, wine, soju cocktails and seasonal drinks on the menu. When we arrived, the atmosphere was lively with music pulsing through the coffee shop. They also had foosball tables, checkers, and a deck of cards for patrons to enjoy. This is one of my favorite coffee shops! I'd argue this is THE spot for locals as it's such a great community spot. They host various community events, many of which revolve around live entertainment, but I'm usually here during the day when I need a change in scenery or want to grab a good latte. They have a great selection of drinks with unique options that aren't seen elsewhere. My go-to drink is their Buko Pandan Special, which contains their homemade Pandan syrup and is topped with 3 cubes of coco jelly and coconut cream! Such a unique and fun twist of flavor with the added textural contrast from the jelly! My only gripe is this drink is only served in one size. I love the open concept of the shop and how inviting it is. This is one of the few coffee shops that I feel comfortable working at for hours without pressure to leave as the space itself is huge and you're in the company of many other remote workers who are working in peace. Great atmosphere all around to relax in or get some work done. There are also 2 gender neutral restrooms that are always clean with a shared central sink area. I will say that parking is challenging. On two of my visits, I didn't hear them call my name (if they did at all), so my drink was just sitting there for a while. I would've appreciated stronger attempts to get me to pick up my drink. Mixed Grounds is the kind of café that feels intentionally built for community. It's street parking, so you might need to drive around a couple times when it gets busy. They also host live events and pop-ups. It definitely makes the space feel active and community-focused rather than just another coffee shop. Last time I went they had banh mi and Vietnamese flavor inspired cookies! Drink-wise, the buko pandan coffee was the standout. It's creamy with a nice coffee flavor and not overly sweet. The jelly at the bottom is such a fun touch and makes the last sip/bite extra enjoyable. Even my very picky dad liked it, which says a lot. I also tried the matchata (matcha + horchata). It wasn't anything mind-blowing, but you can definitely taste both flavors and the matcha quality seems solid. The chai, unfortunately, was pretty watered down. I wouldn't recommend it. Customer service was genuinely great though. Alexis helped me right away and made sure I was happy with my order, which I really appreciated. She made adjustments to the chai, and when that didn't work she had no problem replacing it with a different drink. Food-wise, the rosemary sea salt bagel was really solid. They also had other baked treats that looked great, but I didn't get to try them this time. Overall, Mixed Grounds is less about just grabbing coffee and more about the vibe. The spaces are also dog friendly, which is an added bonus. The staff is friendly and go out of their way to make you feel welcome. We had a tasting of a specialty beverage "Ca Phe Muoi" from their menu, along with some assorted creams puffs from a the local Korean Bakery Mon Chourie...I am in love with both! Quite a cool and funky coffee shop with very interesting seating. Has a lot of space and is very spread out. Good place to post up if you're trying to work for a while on a laptop. They've got some unique drinks that you won't really see anywhere else, so I definitely give them props for standing out! I went with the Pandan latte which is one of my favorite flavors lately. The taste was pretty good, but it was very very sweet, and really lost the coffee taste. Would like to go back and try out a more neutral espresso drink and see how the flavor of the espresso itself is. Also got a cardamom bun which has been one of my favorite Scandinavian treats. But honestly, it really didn't taste much of cardamom at all, and it has a maple glaze on top which really drowns out any other flavor. It's a bit on the dry side too. Went to Mixed Grounds Coffee today and honestly loved it. I got the horchata latte and my boyfriend ordered the Ca Phe Muoi. My horchata latte was a little sweet, but not nearly as sweet as his. I'm not usually into super sweet coffee drinks, but mine was still really delicious. He absolutely loved his and would 100% order it again. A fun bonus is that dogs are allowed inside which isn't normally the case. We split the bacon and egg empanada and it was fantastic. Super flavorful and perfectly cooked. The people working there were incredibly friendly and kind, which always makes the experience better. The space itself is even cooler in person. It feels like a spot you actually want to hang out in, not just grab coffee and leave. They're open until 10pm most nights, and Friday through Sunday they have live music. Walked by this area on a Sunday and had to check it out! The place is super spacious with tall ceilings and has plenty of comfy seating for work or to hang out. We had no problem finding space to sit on Sunday morning. There's also a chess set in the corner! They have live music on the weekends and a little stage area set up for a band. I tried the seasonal guava latte and was so excited for it but the guava syrup tasted like cinnamon and not like the fruit at all. I also am not a fan of warm spices so that was disappointing. My friend tried the cold brew tonic and also didn't like that it was more ok the bitter side and you couldn't really taste the cherry flavor. I was going to order an oolong tea with no ice from here, but the cashier said they couldn't do that. I ended up just getting a hot oolong tea to go. It was scalding hot, so it took me some time to finally be able to drink it without burning myself. The lid of the cup seemed to fit a little off as well because the tea seeped down the side and wet the cup sleeve. The cup sleeve ended up falling off in clumps of cardboard, which made it hard to even hold the cup up since it was so hot. The flavor of the tea was....unexpected. It tasted nothing like any oolong tea I've ever tasted. I'm actually slightly convinced that it wasn't oolong tea at all since the flavor was so different. It wasn't exactly bad. It was a very floral flavor that I would have to describe as being more like a hybrid between lavender and earl grey tea. I enjoy all these teas, so it's fine really. It was just unexpected. Aesthetically speaking, the inside of the shop was really nice and cozy. If I lived in the area, then I would probably come back to hang out and try other drinks. Love it! Came here around 9am and got myself their iced buko pandan special and their bacon/egg/cheese empanada. Right when I walked in, I was immediately greeted and acknowledged, which I did appreciate (the lil things haha). They also made sure to check-in with me for any adjustments needed after I got my drink. As for the items I ordered, I enjoyed everything about their iced buko pandan drink--it had the perfect amount of sweetness to it--and their empanada! Empanada had the perfect amount of flavor and crunch, I'm definitely going to go back another time to try their chorizo (or soyrizo?) option. I was at Mixed Grounds for about an hour and I did notice that the space does get busy quick after 9:30am. It eventually got somewhat loud inside with the music playing, but I didn't mind cause I had my AirPods in and I wasn't able to hear much unless if I took it out. Overall, a solid place to relax, meet up with a friend (also very dog-friendly), and unwind in North Park. The only thing that will require some more patience is the parking situation (since it's obviously in the busier side of town), but I had no issues parking a block away. What a fun gem to stumble upon! I was walking around the neighborhood to pass time before my haircut and popped into Mixed Grounds for a cuppa. This space is GORGEOUS! The seating area is spacious, the natural daylight is chef's kiss, the aesthetic is sleek, modern, and warm, and I really appreciated the openness comfort of the space. The menu is extensive and features quite a few specialty options. After taking a few moments to decide, I opted for the pandan latte, which happens to be the most popular drink ordered here. I could see and taste why! Visually, the drink is beautifully composed with a layer of pandan syrup, coconut cream, milk and coffee, and a garnish of pandan jelly. And the flavor?! OUTSTANDING. I really enjoyed how this was a moderatly sweet and well-balanced drink. The alchemy of the flavors tasted poetic! I could tell by this one drink that everything is made with intention and with the customer's experience in mind. PHENOMENAL. I can't wait to come back and visit this spot again. Ah, I went here yesterday (Tuesday, July 1st) to show a friend the spot. I decided to get the $6.50, 16 oz, Ca Phe Muoi, it's salted coffee. The description says it's made with espresso shots so I thought that was a bit odd since it's "ca phe" so my initial thought was they were going to make Vietnamese drip. Anyways, the drink turned out pretty foamy, light colored, and milky-- I think I was mainly drinking condensed milk and cream. Which was a bummer because I am a lover of salted (they use sea salt) coffee! Worker was kind, but maybe needs to work on his drink making? It was just a miss on the drinks, but at least there was ice and that kept us cool. Next time I'll just go back to getting the pandan special. My mom and her friend ordered the $5, OG Lemonade, add lychee syrup. Because we saw they had Lychee Lemonade Matcha, but none of us like matcha so we basically asked for it to be removed. The guy accommodated-- but in the end the lychee flavor was really light. Having some lychee fruit inside the drink would also be delicious (just a thought). The drink itself was not too sweet, a bit tart, and refreshing. Interior is clean and lots of seating (indoor and outdoor). Will be back, to try something else off the menu. I enjoyed a nice cortado and cheddar and chive scone from this Mix Grounds Location. Although the cortado was not serve in its proper gibralta, the cortado was very well made and delicious. The scone was quite good too. It tasted great and came with a good amount of cheddar in it. They warm it up for you, so it is nice and warm when you get it. Mixed Ground Coffee was among the latest to open in the area last month. I actually tried to visit but drove relentlessly around a few blocks and because I couldn't find parking, I just drive off. Last week, while in the area, I was able to take a parking spot right out front of the cafe and stopped in. The coffee shop occupies a small space of the ground level of a newly built apartment complex in North Park and parking is a major challenge. I had already previewed the menu and was ready to order. I stood at the counter for a longer than a reasonable expectation without being acknowledged by the two staffers...NOT GOOD. Nobody, especially a customer should be ignored. I had to shout out and say, 'Hey, can I order?!!' As usual, the female staffer acted catty and still continued her unprofessional behavior. The male staffer was literally across from me and finally takes my order. Annoyed, I hesitatingly ordered one of the signature drinks: BUKO Pandan special, an espresso drink with homemade Pandan syrup, which is Pandanus amaryllifolius, is a tropical plant with fragrant leaves commonly used in Southeast Asian cuisine for flavoring and aroma, often compared to vanilla. This drink was really good. Unfortunately, because of the unprofessional demeanor from the staffers, it diminished the enjoyment potential for me. And as it turns out, the owner of the shop just happen to be seated closeby for me to express my displeasure of the lack of acknowledgment, as lack of service. The owner: Kwa was apologetic but the damage was done, because the staffers are clueless of their subpar service or even common sense. Despite, how cool the place is or how good the coffee drink was, would I want to repeat a negative experience, NO! Absolutely love this coffee place that has a location within walking distance from my house now! It is within an apartment complex that has an art and music vibe which I love! The staff is amazing and so sweet! They always are attentive and just always welcoming and the owner is great too which definitely shows how he has pride in his work. Welcome to the neighborhood Mixed Grounds! I love checking out new coffee shops in the neighborhood and recently visited Mixed Grounds with some friends during their soft opening. I enjoyed my experience so much, I came back a few days later with my husband and neighbor. What's not to love? They make their own syrup in house, they source their own beans, the barista consistently delivers beautiful cups of lattes made with TLC, the space is large loungy and beautiful, dog friendly, and the owner Kwa is super personable. During my two visits I got the Buko Pandan Special and the Azteca Mocha. I enjoyed how unique each drink was, without being overly sweet. It can feel impossible to find space to sit in other local good coffee shops, so I am for sure adding Mixed Grounds to my rotation. read more

I found this spot during my morning walk. It's in one of the new builds in North Park. The vibe is super cute and fun inside! They host different events as well. They just had reggae Sunday yesterday, which I would have loved to see. They have an interesting menu with both food and drinks! I definitely recommend checking this spot out! I walked from my apartment, but there is limited street parking available as well. Food/drinks review: Matchata: (4/5) This is a matcha horchata drink. It was pretty good, but nothing special. The drink is also super small for the price you pay. Potato chorizo breakfast burrito: (5/5) They make burritos daily and they're available until they're sold out. Honestly, this was BOMB. The salsa they give you is also delicious. Only downside, super expensive for a pretty small burrito. read more
