I've been here a few more times since my last review, and I generally have the same things to say -- lots of choice and general awesomeness. Usually I get a sandwich that comes with a side salad, so I can eat half the sandwich and a salad and save the other half for the next day. But this last trip knocks it down a star. There was a REALLY long line, first to make the salad/sandwich, and then again to buy it -- they only had one register open in the middle of the lunch rush! -- so I got one of the prepacked ones: a cowboy. This was the least filling item I've ever had from there. I'm pretty sure it was a full sized salad, and it was filled with beans and a bit of chicken, and I was STILL full at the end. I don't know if it was because I was really hungry (don't think so) or because the pre-packed ones just have less meat in them? I'm hoping this was just a fluke. I came here today after an appointment in the same building, ordered the "Be Well" which consists of ...mixed greens, avocado, chickpeas, quinoa, lentils, edamame, cucumber, red onion, fresh herbs, jalapeno vinaigrette. (I added chicken and roasted zucchini) The dude forgot to put avocado in my salad which I realized after I got back to work wayyyy on the other side of LA. Needless to say I was totally bummed, and then when I actually tasted the salad it was sadly disappointing. Boo for flavor and for those salad-makers not paying attention to the ingredients. No bueno, I would much rather have had my Greens Up in Santa Monica...that place rocks. read more

Found a new favorite salad spot close to home. This is my second week coming after getting Mixt Greens through Uber Eats and have gotten hooked on their big salads and flavorful steak. Last week I got the Peaches salad (seasonal summer menu) which had fresh peaches, gouda cheese, corn and almonds with a zesty vinaigrette and chicken instead of the pork loin. The chicken was great and was well cooked but the steak is definitely something special here. Hands down the steak beats the tender greens steak any day, and you get less of the fat too. Every time I get steak at Tender greens, it looks like alot at first but its only because in reality half of it is mainly the fat. The salad portions here are also great because I feel like I'm getting enough lettuce and don't have to ask for extra like at Tender greens, and the container is alot more useful to keep your salad safe from spillage when getting take out. Although they only validate for 30 minutes, I don't usually have a problem because I get take out but I can see how that would be a problem for those that want to stay longer. Also, the hours are odd here. Mixt Greens is clearly a lunch spot since they close at 4pm every day, which is really a bummer since this place is a really good healthy spot but is always closed when I have driven past it. Overall, I really like Mixt Greens and is one of my favorite salad places in Los Angeles that excels at providing great variety in the greens department. read more

I love this restaurant. It's easy to get a salad or meal exactly the way you want it. Each salad is custom made because you select all of the ingredients. What could be better than that? They also have filtered water with fresh cucumber (or lemon - can't quite remember) that's self serve. Seating outside is pleasant (although on a little bit of a slant, which is a tad awkward). I like Mixed Greens better than Tender Greens because they have more vegetarian options and bend over backwards to please. This is a good choice of you're eating with other people and are particular about what you eat. Everyone can get exactly what they want whether you're a carnivore, vegan, vegetarian or just want to eat healthy when the other person doesn't want to. read more

Talk about taking the do it your own salad right out of NYC! After experiencing a ton of create your own joints in NYC I truly missed them once I got to LA so when I discovered Mixt Greens this little lady had a smile from ear to ear. If you're pretty picky and a bit of a control freak like me you'll enjoy this place ;) All their ingredients are fresh, tasty, and healthy. I have never had one bad mushy tomato or a wilted piece of lettuce. Also, a huge high five for this place for their awesome staff! They are all so sweet, fast, and fun just a great pick me up from the craziness of work. Guys guys guys! There is a Chop't in LA and it's name is Mixt Greens! I have been searching the city for something to satisfy the whole in my lunch since leaving NYC. The salad places here leave a bit to be desired (I'm lookin at you Tender Greens). I love Chop't and I've always wondered why there weren't tons of them in the city of green lunches. And here I found it (and who knows, it may even be better!) I went with one of the seasonal salads (Picnic I think) and added in some grilled chicken. The fact that I can get a salad with watermelon and lemon-infused cucumber is pretty amazing on its own, but then add in the fact that you will actually be full afterwards and it's almost mind-boggling. There are tons of choices on the set menu, plus probably thousands of combinations possible through build-your-own. I did take one point off for the pricy-ness and challenging parking, but if you can get over this I don't know if there is a better salad place in town. read more

I really don't like giving less than three stars, but this is about 2.5 stars. Perhaps I should've tried one of their specialty salads or even a sandwich, but I got the Mixt Cobb salad because I figured I can't go wrong with a Cobb salad. Unfortunately, wrong I went. I liked how they made everything in front of you, and how you can customize everything, and the way they kept tossing all the ingredients as they added each of them individually made it look like it would be really well mixed. But my Cobb salad wasn't well mixed at all! The vegetables were mixed fine, but all the rest were all clustered together. I'd take a bite that would be all bleu cheese D: and all the bacon was hanging out in the corner of the container :/. The salad wasn't horrible, but it didn't taste any better than a non-organic salad, and it definitely isn't worth the price :/. I might come back to try the sandwiches, but I don't think I'll be getting another salad. read more

I love it here! I am very picky about what i eat in my salad so its great to pick the exact things i want and there are lots of options and the best avocado. Only downer is its a HUGE portion so you should share. Taking home half doesnt work because it gets soggy. read more

I love the variety of choices. You can go with something on the menu or build your own. It's all done in front of you. It's a buffet of greens and goodies to add onto your salad. You can get your dressing on the side or tossed and they'll ask if you like light medium or heavy dressing. They dot charge extra for extra dressing. The orchard salad is a personal favorite. You can never go wrong with that one. Or build your own if you are feeling like something specific. They are a variety of choices for all taste buds! Parking can be a bit annoying and Wilshire is a very busy street so it gets a little hectic. Also annoying- you can't order by phone, only online; which sucks if you are diving and wanted to just place an order as you go. For those reasons I docked down 2 stars. read more

Great tasting salad. I got the orchard salad, the ingredients were super fresh and delicious, the dressing gave a great flavor but not over powering. The line was kinda long but moved reasonably fast and the space actually allowed for a line unlike some places that get awkward when full. I liked that they have regular iced tea unlike Sweetgreen which only has weird drinks. Only downside is they are only open m-f 11-4pm. I would love to come here for lunch on the weekends or dinner during the week. read more

Love having a salad spot within walking distance of my apartment. Their ambience is chic yet comfy. I love the interior design, music selection and the small details like the complimentary cucumber or lemon water. I cannot complain about the quality of the salads. My disappointment is the meager side portions. It's almost ridiculous. Worst, however, are the preparer attitudes. From my experience, not friendly and I feel rushed. Since my five visits, I have had a one helpful preparer. You get so much more for your money including a loaf of bread at the Cheesecake Factory in the grove. Good spot. Most of the salads are actually pretty great if you stick to veggies, but don't expect to be drooling over the protein selections. As mentioned by others, if you have a Tender Greens nearby, that's probably where you'll be going. Very good in a pinch when you want to have a quick and healthy lunch. I have nothing to complain when it comes to Mixt Greens. You would never think that you can become addicted to salads but I will admit that I am waaaaay addicted to this place. And the best thing is that they are literally across the street from where I work so everyone in the office likes to go there or we just order online and have it delivered (for free!). I always get the Cowboy because I love the honey chipotle sauce (gives it a wonderful kick) and I add avocado...mmmm. But several of the ladies in the office like the Dagwood and Bachelor salads. I haven't had a sandwich yet but I hear great reviews from my co-workers. So maybe when I'm not obsessing over my Cowboy I'll venture to their sandwiches. They also have some BOMB teas and free cucumber or lemon water...yummy! Other than the food, I can't express how wonderful it is to see a...deli? restaurant? eatery? (what would this place classify under? hmmm)....anyways, a food place so dedicated to being environmentally conscious. They use real silverware and dishes or have biodegradeable and/or recycled to-go containers, cups, utensils, napkins, AND bags....its so awesome. I love eating in as well as taking out because I'm not stressing over whether they are going to recycle or be wasteful...and you know you are contributing to the "green" cause. :D So go check it out...like NOW! lol read more

Love this place. I am vegetarian, so my favorite salad is Dagwood. I also tried Maui, which was not as good as i expected (70% of lettuce and strange looking and tasting tuna), Siam salad is my second favorite. If you want something custom, they have a lot of ingredients to choose from. Service is pretty fast and workers are friendly. Parking is behind the building. For how expensive it is, the salad is not that great. Mind you, I get a caesar salad every time I go there (which is twice), but the dressing (mayonaise) is really sour, you have to request the achovies and they give them to you whole (yuck) and sometimes you get bread, sometimes you have to remind them. All this and no chicken! It's not worth the money ($11 for some leaves and mayo and NO chicken) The cookies and the lemonade are really good though so I gave it two stars. read more

My only gripe with this location was the parking, which was almost non-existent. I really like how they make everything right in front of you, just like Subway. This place is right across from my work... which is a problem, because I am tempted to go every single day. Fresh, delicious salads, not a bad price considering the HUGE portions. I love that you can make your own and that they're not some hippie vegan place... I like some meat on my salad! During lunch, the line can be long, but your never waiting more than 10 minutes max. Overall: A great place to grab lunch when you have a couple extra bucks to spend. You will spend $15 on average for a salad or sandwich. You can get in and out without too much trouble. Parking in the back isn't ideal but works. Salad as an entree? This is a completely foreign concept to me until recently. Mixt greens does an excellent job creating a hearty and yet healthy lunch for those of us trying to fit in with a trendy Los Angeles crowd. Its a little pricey for a salad but this is coming from a guy that Food: I have had the Maui on several occasions, fresh seared tuna with butter lettuce, accented with cherry tomatoes and macadamia nuts. I love this salad, and after eating it I'm not hungry until dinner time. I go here with co-workers and no-one has ever left unhappy. Ingredients are fresh and food is made to order. Drinks: Try the fresh lemonade or cucumber water to accent your meal. Hint: don't add to many "extras" to your salad as they will add up when you get your bill shortly thereafter. If you are looking for a salad buffet then you are better off at Soup Plantation. Environment: Great outdoor patio area, limited seating indoors and out. very clean feel. Staff: My "Salad-Ologist" made the salad to order and was careful not to overdress the salad. Friendly and cordial but this is fast (albeit healthy) food, don't have too high expectations. High quality greens and other salad ingredients with lots of interesting choices for custom and already designed creations, as well as sandwiches. This is not a vegetarian place. They do offer hormone-free meats as toppings as well as a small selection of fish (tuna and sardines). Some complain it's expensive. I don't think it is for what you're getting. One thing prevents me from giving this place 5 stars. They're now offering coffee and espresso (in response to the newly opened Starbucks next door.) Even though they're trying very hard (they use timers, freshly ground beans and everything) but the two shots of espresso that we got were sour and watery. My advice - stick with what they do really well - mixt greens. read more

This place is MADDENING! The food - top-notch. Great salads. Their focus on sustainability and humane practices is really important to me. These things make me want to come back over and over and over again. The service - THE WORST. I've been going here for a few weeks since I've worked in this building. Been maybe 7 or 8 times. I have had a pleasant experience exactly once. They are WAY understaffed and frequently run out of things. I - no joke - waited 20 minutes for a smoothie today - after waiting 15 minutes for a salad. Generally-speaking, don't plan on going in here unless you have a lot of time to kill waiting. On top of all the waiting, the people working there - with a couple of exceptions - are rude and oblivious to their ineptitude. If only they could get the service part together, it would be an EASY 5 star place. read more

Mixt Greens is across from my office and I'm a frequent patron. I've loved everything I've tried there, including the Rooster (my favorite), The Maui and the The Siam. The salads are absolutely delicious and they chop everything really small so everything blends together smoothly. The service is great as well. They are efficient and accommodating and make your food to order. And don't let the long lines scare you, they move quickly! I would happily give Mixt Greens 5 stars but DO think it's overpriced. read more

This may just be the BEST salad in town, however you toss it. I stopped in last night before class across the street. Ronnie (apologies if I got the spelling wrong, sir) is the most genuine, lovely person. "Family skills" he says. "And aren't we all family?" Yes, my friend, we certainly are. The salad was SO fresh, and the Point Reyes blue cheese dressing so delectable that I ate it while stopped at the light, before class started, during the break, and when the class was over. I want to love this place so much. It's near work and it's the healthiest option available. I went back after I received terrible service. I went back after my salad was made with rotten hearts of palm, and I had to explain to the manager over the phone the difference between "just a different supplier's product" and "rotten" to get my money back. I am not sure I should go back after I just fished out two olive pits and a large piece of eggshell (no eggs in the salad, mind you) out of my otherwise wonderful salad. A good relatively healthy lunch option compared to most of the places in this area. Prices are on the high side but I think they are justified when it's good. The consistency is frustrating though hence the 3 stars, sometimes the protein is mixed into the salad, other times it's just dumped on top; greens are fresh one day but dappy and old looking the next; the chicken is sometimes thinly sliced and flavorful but the next time is dry and cubed. The guys working the counters are consistent though - they always act like they wish they were somewhere else. I'll keep coming here though - when it's good, it's very good especially the Orchard with blue cheese dressing. read more

Basically a more efficient Sweetgreen with a nicer crew making your salad. Prices are about equal but I think Mixt actually has more options and they definitely are better at handling major crowds. Also, their Yuzu Miso dressing is CRACK. Literally the best dressing I've ever had. read more

Well ... love the concept, but have an issue with server cleanliness. Have been going there since it's opening - I work across the street - and have been trying to keep my outlook positive, but it is now crossed off my list. 1) the preparers gloves worn are not changed often; I see them touching everything, even the door that goes into the kitchen. 2) have seen preparers wipe their face onto their already dirty smock using those gloved hands, 3) no consistant portion sizes with adding ingredience, 4) The perparers seem more interested in socializing with each other rather than with the guest. The final straw for me was when I got food poisioning - I immediately felt ill ofter my salad (I believe it was the undercooked steak that the preparer retrieved from the kitchen after he touched the grimmy kitchen door with the same gloves that he was preparing my salad (how many times had he touched that door with the same gloves that never get changed?). Please back into the door or use your foot to push open the door - but NEVER touch the door with your gloved hands and still use those gloved hands to prepare food (Food Service 101). I am really sad about this review but I feel the need to make Mixt Greens aware of these concerns that can be easily corrected with proper training. read more

This place is on a downhill slide. portions of "extras" are less and less, running out of things as well. when i questioned this current practice i was told "it's always been that way" by someone who has definitely NOT been working there as long as i've been eating there. Got the Be Well salad with added "marinated tofu"... seriously disappointing. I suspected based on the pictures on yelp that this salad would be quite basic, but figured hey a place specializing in salads must be doing something right. Wrong. Not one ingredient including the "marinated" tofu was seasoned by any means, and the garbanzo beans were undercooked to the point that they were inedible. I was hoping the tofu would have some texture or flavor - nope, your basic, run of the mill slightly watery tofu. The dressing was extremely underwhelming and the salad overall was just not tasty. This was a basic salad that took me back to the prepackaged salad mixes my mom would reluctantly pick up at Ralph's when she was too tired to do anything else. Hit up Trader Joe's if you want a better salad at a third of the price, or Sweetgreen for a flavorful and unique salad at the same price. But if you're the type of person that likes your salad erring more on the side of water than a meal, this is the place for you. read more
