My favorite place to get sushi. Prices are a little high but it is SO worth it. Can't get a better meal anywhere

Amazing sushi and entertaining hibachi! What sets Miyako apart for other restaurants is the quality of its staff. Having gone there several times with various waiters (Bianca, Rachael, Peyton, Haley and George) I've yet to have had a bad experience! First experience ever to eat at a hibachi place! Loved watching the cook serve the food and show us his skills! :D The food was amazing! One of the BEST shrimp I've ever eaten and the broth of soup u get at the beginning is soooo amazing! We also got the Fat Tuesday roll and that was delicious ! I guess the only con would be the workers at the bar. Looks like they were just chatting with a few friends and not even paying any attention to customers. Friendly staff, but very mediocre sushi. Rolls were very salty which overwhelmed the taste of ingredients.

Had a delicious meal here, and was thoroughly impressed by the sushi quality. The Claws Fire dish was very tasty, but a bit much for one person. This is a perfect place for a date night, and is a bit pricier than average for the area (but well worth it). Will definitely be back! read more

On Friday, Aug 11, my wife and I were looking for a nice and casual-dress place to go eat just after the peak of lunch hour. We were also celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. We've only been living in Granbury just over 2 months so we also wanted to try a different place. That's how we decided on this hibachi-style place. We both agree that we made the right decision. We were asked whether we would like a private table or hibachi. We like meeting & interacting with new folks so we chose the latter. The waitress was good. She paid attention to us and the mom-daughter with us at the table and fulfilled our requests with a smile. The orders were all correct and we were there the proper amount of time. Now for the chef and the hibachi experience. This is not a new thing for us, which is why we chose hibachi. The fella knew all the moves to keep smiles on our faces, from the 18 inch high flame that hovered above a stack of onion slices for at least 30 seconds to the slick and surgical-like cuts he swiftly and strategically made on the veggies, meats, seafood, and the quickly tossed and fried our rice. We even learned that the mom-daughter couple at out hibachi table knew our neighbors. How "small world" was that? That was the catalyst for a interesting hour of conversation. Oh, yes, I'm a cajun who keeps two kinds of cajun spices at our house. Almost every meal I eat gets a sprinkling. For this hibachi experience I did not use ANY seasoning! Didn't need any IMHO. My wife was amazed by this. What did we order and what about pricing? We both ordered the "filet mignon with scallops." About $19 ea. Hey, it's our 25th! Food was excellent and cooked just right. We also had the appetizer sushi named Rattlesnake. Very good. The place is dark, but it fit with the ambiance. Will we return? Sure, for special events or to bring friends and relatives when we want to show off! We are above average tippers when we are impressed by the staff, and yes, we were. read more

Disappointed after good reviews. I compare hibachi grills to Bonzai in Kerrville, RX, and this one doesn't compare. Everything was bland. The best part of the meal was their ginger salad dressing. The steak was overcooked and had no flavor. The fried rice is $3 in addition to the price of the meal, and was bland as well. I was quite disappointed with this lackluster meal. read more

The only reason I give this place any props at all is because it is the ONLY Sushi joint in Granbury. We only go there if we are super desperate for sushi and dont want to drive 45 min or get it at a grocery store. Go into this place with low expectations. When I entered Miyako, I knew I was in for a good experience. The ambiance is nice, dim lighting and nice cool temperature. The food was amazing, and if you choose to sit at the Hibachi, you get a show! I had the scallops with vegetables and fried rice, it was to die for. All of the food is prepared right before you on a hibachi grill, fresh ingredients. I also had the rattlesnake roll and the granbury roll as an appetizer, they were both delicious. Not a single slice of sushi left. The options were endless as far as sushi is concerned, and chicken beef and seafood is offered. If you go outside of lunch, the entrees can be pricey, but well worth the dollar! read more

No. No. No!! This place is ridiculous! You have to pay EXTRA for fried rice. The sushi SUCKS! It was old and gross! And after you pay extra for your fried rice, they give you a child's portion! My family will never be back!! If it was an option, I would put -5 stars!!! read more

Very average sushi. I didn't find it bad, or especially good, just sort of very ordinary. What I found odd was that they did not have a lunch menu. Typically, a sushi restaurant in a suburban area such as this will put together various lunch combinations so that you can affordably enjoy a few things together. There were lunch combos that consisted of cooked items, But none for sushi. The result is that you order what you would get on a lunch menu and it ends up costing much more. For example, I had a bowl of miso soup, a small portion of seaweed salad, And six pieces of me nigiri sushi. One would expect, even in Austin, to pay about $13-$15 for this. The result of not having the lunch menu equaled almost $26. Having just arrived home from five nights in New York City, I found this very expensive and overpriced, especially when I drank water only. read more

A great hibachi style Japanese restaurant. Sushi is very good also. I'm not big on things not cooked so we get the cooked sushi. Try the Dragontails and the Fat Tuesday roll (crawfish). Granbury roll (crabmeat) is also a winner along with the Rattlesnake roll (shrimp). These are all cooked and done very well. Enjoy. read more

The food was just okay. On the kids meals all the vegetables are fried for no reason but to have more unhealthy options for children. Went with my wife 2 children and some friends. Totally we had 6 people including 2 children. 2 separate checks and the gratuity was pre added into the bill. I love this place, except for the price. We are a family of 8, so you can tell that this bill is out of this world. Even for 2 people, it is pricey. Every person I've spoken with loves eating here, when they save up to eat there. I love all the choices they have, and there are even a few things for those who can't stand the fish. The hardest part of living in a small town in the suburbs (more rural than urban) is finding city quality dining. While there may be better hibachi and sushi in Fort Worth, that's a 45 minute drive away. There are a few "Asian" restaurants in town, but this is the only one I enjoy. The hibachi is great, the chef's are skilled, the sushi is excellent and the staff is friendly. It is my go to restaurant for date night and special family outings. I can't count the times I've been here... After we moved to TN, we flew out and ate at this place. It's amazing. I love all sushi rolls (I've had them all), except eel, but that's a personal preference (I think eel is too fatty). The salmon caviar roll could use more caviar, but it's a right amount for the price I guess. Scallops are excellent, so is steak and shrimp. Teriyaki chicken is probably my least favorite, but decent enough to consume. Soup, salad and fried rice - great! Beer (Kirin ichiban is what we always get) - great. Service and atmosphere- amazing. I've been here for a large celebration, a dinner with hubby, lunch with co-workers, sushi fix with bestie, a small get together, a pregnancy celebration... You name it. NEVER a bad experience. I thought it might be a small town person in me that loved this place so much, but no... Even after moving to San Francisco with an over abundance of sushi on every coner, I am convinced this is my favorite place! read more

This the highest elevated establishment in Granbury, but for what reason. Is it the food, the foreign theme. I have no clue. Today my family and I visited this "lovely" establishment and were greatly disappointed. We waited for over an hour, due the staff giving away our table to a different family because the person who sat them down at the table didn't count the amount of people to the amount of chairs that were available. My opinion is don't eat here if you are wanting a good time and wanting to enjoy an evening with your family. Plus they are over priced. They told us about a fifteen minute wait then after 30 minutes we finally left without a apology. read more

BEST SUSHI WE HAVE EVER HAD! ...and we have eaten at a ton of sushi places in DFW. I almost want to drive the 90 mins from home to eat sushi here versus settling on anywhere else. We were in town for a motorcycle track day in Cresson and stumbled on this place on a Friday night. We ended up going back for Hibachi on Saturday night and it was very good as well. Really good, just a little pricy.

My wife and I dined at Miyakos sushi bar Friday night. We chatted with Frankie the sushi chef who prepared us fantastic sushi and sashimi. The fish was super fresh and the staff couldn't have been nicer. Can't wait to go back. read more

Not worth the money! The cook (not even close to a chef) never spoke except to ask how the we wanted our steaks. He never had any eye contact with us and had no personality, not even a smile. His performance was...sorry, there was no performance. The steak was supposed to be rare but it was medium and tough. The vent-a-hood was apparently not working properly as the smoke, steam and atomized cooking oil was constantly blowing if my face to the point I had to push back 3 feet from the table. The cooking odors permeated my clothing and hair and the atomized cooking oils coated my hair, face and clothes. There were 5 in our party and we dropped $240. All this and the honor of having 18% gratuity added to my bill. Sorry, but the total experience wasn't worth the 18% gratuity alone. BTW a gratuity is something "extra" that is earned. read more

WOW what a disappointing experience!!! Have eaten here many times, but not until today have I vowed to NEVER return !!! Ordered 2 sushi rolls... the General Granbury and the Sunfire... Fish was very fishy and OLD, crab tasted FAKE, and a whopping $32.00 for two very disappointing sushi rolls... I know that good restaurants in Granbury are a rare find, but when Miyako falls this far down the chain, and for an outrageously PREMIUM price, I'M OUT. I won't ever return. P.S. if you order from the online menu, be aware that the prices listed are for the HOUSTON location... Their prices are quite a bit more expensive in Granbury and the fish is way less fresh... Make the drive to Ft Worth... sadly, it's now worth it. read more

Miyako is wonderful. The fish is always fresh, and they slice their tako sashimi perfectly. I always make sure to get an eel roll while I'm here, and their miso soup with tofu and seaweed as well. I try to come every time I'm in the area. Make sure you try the green apple sake! read more

The food here is good, but getting to the food is challenging. I had read the other reviews about the rude hostess, but thought we had a complete party and it wasn't a busy time of day, what could go wrong? We arrived to a few people in the place only to be told that the hibachi table that HAD to be used, while 2 others sat empty, was going to cause us a wait because people who had finished their meal and were talking, were still sitting there and talking after their meal. After almost a half hour of waiting, the hostess says, "Is everyone in your party still here?" It was as if she was trying to outwait us. I said they were and she looked disappointed as she stood next to the giant sign that spoke about not seating incomplete parties. Sad. So we sat, had a great server who was positive and quick and a good hibachi chef who cooked a great meal. I thought it odd there wasn't much of a show but I don't know the restaurant's requirements. I've seen a lot of hibachi shows, so I had higher expectations, but the taste of the food was great. I won't return as this hostess makes the experience downright unpleasant. If I go out to eat, I seek out pleasant experiences and a good time with my family, not having to deal with a cranky hostess. She certainly lived up to her previous negative reviews. Great Hibachi experience. The food is great. Lunch is the best value. The only area of opportunity is the hostess and serving staff. Hostesses are never friendly they seem annoyed you came in. If you are going to drop over a 100.00 for Hibachi dinner for 4 people you want to feel welcome. Servers are hit and miss some are great some are average. Hibachi chefs are great. read more

For Granbury, it's pretty good. For sushi in general, it's average quality at a slightly-higher-than-average price. I don't recommend the krab cakes, it's obvious they use krab instead of crab. Not bad overall, although that being said I've never visited again--I usually wait until I'm in Fort Worth or Dallas. read more
