We recently moved to the area and were so sad that we haven't been able to find a sushi place that delivered. Then I get a mailer for Miyama. We ordered 4 rolls: Sterling roll, 007, hulk and avocado and edemame. The delivery arrived early. They provided a ton of wasabi (love), soy sauce, and ginger. The rolls were very well made although some weren't cut perfectly through. My husband and I loved all but the Sterling roll. It wasn't bad but lacked flavor. The rest were fantastic! The food is excellent but service is the worst I have ever experienced. I am a regular customer and despite that fact, every time I go there we are ignored and the waiter who seats us is always horribly rude. I was going to let this go until today when my coworker and I were leaving the restaurant and took more than one mint from the giant bowl on our way out. One of the employees, presumably the owner, stormed out the door after us and screamed at us to not come back if we were going to take more than our share. Mind you, this was a very public display of awful service and absence of basic manners. Considering reporting to the Better Business Bureau. There was no sign indicating that more than one tiny mint could not be taken. I am appalled and would like to assure Miyama that they have lost a long time customer. I tried this NEW sushi restaurant yesterday and i was really hoping for a good place, since i love sushi, as it is literally across the street, so it would be very convenient. i was very happy to eat their food as the sushi signature rolls are very different and not traditional which we liked, the sushi grade was of high caliber, very fresh fish, and excellent presentation. i was also happy to see that it had fairly constant traffic as i want it to stay around for a long time. i tried the amazing tuna roll, the va roll, and the american dream roll, all of which were good. i also had the fried oyster with spicy mango sauce as an appetizer and that was ok, not my favorite but the sushi made up for it. Lastly i tried the mochi which was new to us but very unique and good, and also their rendition of a fried banana! they actually presented it on a banana peel which I have never seen done before. i will definitely be back and probably show up once a week seeing that it is right there! read more

Decent food. The absolute worst service. Attempted this place 4-5 times because we live nearby and are in the service industry as well. We gave them a chance over and over, but every single time the employees were rude and disrespectful. From a 15 min food ready time turning into 40mins, to getting delivery and order being wrong, to saying we could not have a side of sauce even though we explained they could charge us. So rude, I honestly don't understand how this place is still in business. I truly hope they improve their customer service, until then we definitely will not be returning. read more

Went here for lunch for the first time with my bf and friend. My friend was in the mood for sushi and I wanted to try some place local and a place we've never been to before. I am SO happy that I picked Miyama. This restaurant is in Great Falls shopping center. It's small but cozy. They both got sushi and I ordered steak and shrimp hibachi with miso soup. I didn't care for the soup too much. It wasn't very flavorful but aside from that, I LOVE their hibachi. It was a generous portion. The steak was tender and juicy, shrimp was just the right size and cooked perfectly. The fried rice was so delicious. A lot of other places tend to have really dry rice but this was just right. Everything on this plate was delicious. Even the veggies were good. My bf and friend enjoyed their sushi as well. I can't wait to go back! read more

Ordered about $45 worth of delivery from this place after having ate here before with my wife. Quantity is decent for the money, but you can't beat their 1/2 off deal on Mondays and Tuesdays. Sushi seemed slightly better on-site, but that's probably just because you lose a little freshness during the packing and delivery process. I've only been to this place once so far, but loved it! First off, I've been to MANY sushi restaurants throughout the world and only eat cooked sushi at this point. This restaurant actually separated the sushi out from cooked and non cooked on the menu! I've never seen this and it made things so much easier! Also, they have lobster tempura, which is my favorite roll and seemingly rare in this area. We went on a Tuesday and they have half off sushi on Mondays and Tuesdays. I'm pretty sure that we will be regulars on those days! For expectation management: The sushi rolls are slightly smaller than what I've seen at most places, but I believe that they are priced accordingly for that. They also don't bring out complimentary miso soup, like we're used to. For that reason I'd give them a 4.6, but since there are no half star ratings, I rounded up. read more

This place is *not* only for sushi! Hubby and I went to Miyama around 3 p.m. on Sunday. There were only two other parties that came in while we were there. We loved the decor and the kind treatment of the staff! Not being sushi eaters, we wondered if we'd find something else to eat. We quit wondering when we found ourselves smacking our lips after eating the delicious Gyoza (pork) dumplings and the Vegetable Tempura appetizers! Hubby had the Hibatchi dinner with shrimp and beef--which comes with a good portion of yummy veggies and fried rice, and two sauces in addition to a choice of salad or soup. He selected the salad, as I did, and it was really, really tasty! (Loved the dressing!) I ordered the Pork Katsu (2 pieces of pounded real thin pork, breaded and deep fried--YUMMO) and it came with sauce and white rice--and a soup or salad. We also ordered Japanese Vegetable Fried Rice and it was wonderful--even had corn in it! We simply had to share the Fried Vanilla Ice Cream--and it was coated in the exceptional tempura batter and truly was fried!! Afterwards they brought us a beautiful half orange cut into bite sized pieces and some bites of pineapple. They were a very refreshing end of a most wonderful meal. As you can see, even if you're not a sushi lover, you can find some delicious food at Miyama! Hope you'll try it! read more

I recently rediscovered Miyama and boy am I happy I did. The quality of the sushi here is terrific. Extremely fresh and beautifully presented. Even the rice is top shelf. I particularly enjoy the toro and the one time I had the fresh scallop it was amazing. A small place like this in a fairly out of the way location is a great find. I can only speak to the sushi because that is what I go for and this is a sushi place through and through. I think prices are very reasonable compared to other places I've been in this area. i usually love going to this place for the half off sushi on monday's and tuesday's. however, today my friends and i waited for at least 30 minutes before we could even get the chance to ask for a table, then once we were seated, the waiter was extremely rude and told us he didn't have time to refill our waters because he had other tables. then my order was mixed up with my other friend at the table and the chef came over and seemed very angry and grabbed the plate as my friend was still eating so he could switch the rolls. i usually love this place but just had a bad experience today. read more

BEWARE if you have food allergies! I was in town for a week and usually when I'm away on business I go with the healthier food choice, which for me usually ends up being a Japanese/sushi restaurant. I called Miyama restaurant ahead of time for takeout and inquired about the salad dressing contents, which I stressed to the person that I was lactose intolerant. He assured me there were no milk ingredients for the particular dressing they offered. I went to pick up my order again and inquired before I left the restaurant with my take out order and they told me again, no milk content. When I got home I opened the bag and saw the salad dressing , which looked very creamy, so I called and inquired again about the contents of the salad dressing. The person who answered the phone left the phone for about 10 seconds to inquire with someone and then he told me over the phone "Oh sorry sir the dressing does have milk in it." It almost felt intentional with the way I stressed I had a food allergy to lactose, as if someone was going to watch me on candid camera later on. lol From then on I went to the Aoba Japanese restaurant for the rest of my stay that week. The food was fine, but the service was non-existent. They had two servers on that night, and we say each of them once during the night one brought us waters and the other brought our food. I had to get up to find a manger to put my food order in and again to give me my check. I had to find my own napkins and utensils. We ordered Tempura and sushi. The tempura was really oily, like soaked through drip out oily. But the 3 rolls we ordered were good, nothing spectacular, not a lot of distinct flavors, I have had better and worse in the area. The prices are higher than average but the service and food are not. Hopefully they get their act together (service and value ratio) because I would love to have a local go-to sushi place, unfortunately this is not it. The decor was nice and comfortable other than the cold draft every time the single door opened. I should give one star, but I am giving one extra because they have potential and I hope they get better because it would be nice to have a good place close by. read more
