I really wanted to like this place from all the great reviews but unfortunately that was not our experience. We went on a Saturday night and the place was about half full. There was only one poor server for the entire place and he truly was trying his best but we were there about 3 hours by the time we got our food and everything. The owners kids were left unattended the whole time in the restaurant. The food was okay but nothing worth the $85 for two people and time it took. My first visit was great. The service is very prompt with welcome attitude. I went for lunch, a bento box with beef teriyaki and shrimp tempura that I dig a lot. The price is about the average around here, the place is not the fanciest but they seem to have good food. I'm impressed with the server for knowing their menu items, the spices and such. This is what servers are supposed to know, but not always the case. He did not forget my order either, but he did come ask and confirm, which is much better than giving me the wrong order. The beef was a bit tough to eat, maybe I should have ordered chicken, but everything else is decent. I will be back for other items like sushi and udon soup. read more

Been eating sushi for twenty years, traveled to Japan to experience Sushi there, live in Souther California where there are tremendously good sushi places I went here during a weekday at 630pm and was the only person in the restaraunt. Everyone was very nice however the hostess and the waiter stood about 5 feet from me and watched me the whole time I was eating. Very uncomfortable. The sushi display cooling cases were all fogged up , not a good sign. When I took a napkin to wipe off the glass the sushi did not appear fresh and there was scant amounts in the cooler. I asked what was on happy hour they said they did not offer it. I asked for baked mussels did not offer it. I asked for salmon belly did not offer it. I asked for red snapper they said it is tilapia and really not red snapper. They fish I had was mushy and broken down from freezing and the portions were small (turned out to be a blessing) the worst sushi experience I have ever had without a doubt If you are new to sushi perhaps you will like it however they are to sushi as dennys is to a steakhouse. I am here visiting relatives and have eaten at Fukuda 5 times , thought I would try something different ......my mistake Fukuda has been the best sushi experience I have had in this area. It is just hard to get fresh sushi so far inland as most of the fresh fish first lands in California then gets shipped out here. read more

As sushi lovers we have tried all the Japanese restaurants around and had pretty much settled down at Fukuda as being the best in The Woodlands area.They now have competition that is very strong with a new place that has opened up on the northbound I-45 feeder next to Hodges Supermarket just south of Robinson Road. We had several items; the miso soup was very good, the spider handrails (soft shell crab) excellent, the other rolls we tried all very good and the manager told me the uni was fresh, it was and also very good. Service was pleasant. The meal was delightful and we will go back again. This is the type of local restaurant we want to have in our neighborhood. If you like Japanese food I suggest you try it. My boyfriend and I moved to Willis from Chicago (the most diverse, hottest restaurant cities in the world), so we are very biased when it comes to food and it's difficult to meet our standards. The ambiance is casual, nothing too fancy, but the staff really makes you feel comfortable and they treat you well. The chef even went around a few tables making sure all the customers were pleased. They even gifted me the most beautiful rose at the end (it was Valentine's day). There are a few items that they don't have in stock on their menu, but I can't complain because I would rather have fresh seafood than spoiled oysters or sashimi served. Besides being short of some items, all of the things we did order were AMAZING. We ordered calamari appetizers, a few rolls, sashimi, sake, and dessert. They even comped us a few items. Our experience both times we have been to Miyazaki have been outstanding. The prices are reasonable, staff is friendly, and most importantly the food is good! This place is new so maybe it will keep improving, but I wasn't impressed. The location is almost remote in a creepy empty shopping center. The decor was unimpressive and just run of the mill. The food was nothing special. The calamari was rubbery and covered in like Cajun seasoning? What's up with that? My specialty roll, Her Passion, also had the same weird Cajun seasoning...I don't get it. The kitchen is open to the restaurant but not in a cool or visually appealing way. And the prices do not reflect the atmosphere or dining experience. It's a new sushi place in town so I tried it. Found the place in yelp and had dinner there for couple of times. I would say it's the best Japanese restaurant in the Woodlands area after I tried most of the Japanese restaurants in this area. This one is definitely the most authentic. Service is great and price is very reasonable. The kitchen is open to the restaurant. I really like the design which is exactly the restaurants in Japan look like. Food is awesome. Sashimi sampler and sushi sampler are very fresh and put on the plate in a very nice way. I thought the chief really spent some time to design the way to present the food. Lemon pepper fried chicken is the best I had in Houston. Ramen is also good. Ramen soup is very similar to what I had in Tokyo. Definitely 5 star. Plan to bring my colleagues to the place next time. Such a friendly and welcoming place. Upon arrival we were seated immediately and placed our drink orders. Our waiter was fantastic. He was on top of the refills and checked on us to make sure everything was ok. Edamame was brought to our table as a complimentary appetizer. We ordered the chicken lomein which had a wonderful flavor and the texture of the noodles was perfect. My daughter had 2 freshly made California rolls which she loved. I ordered the shrimp tempura roll and the spicy scallop roll. Super fresh ingredients and the shrimp had a wonderful crunch to it. We also met one of the owners.
