Underrated dog park. We like it better than Hellyer. Clean, not too big, not too small and decent amount of dogs even on Super Bowl Sunday afternoon. Not sure why this place has so few stars. We will be back. read more

I come almost every day of the week with my dog. It's at the end of a court and has lots of shade and benches for sitting and relaxing for both the people and the dogs. The park is completely fenced in and very safe. It's not a big park by any means, but it's a good sized park even for my rambunctious lab who loves to run. It can get a little bit loud as one wall is shared with the freeway. The main area of the park is turf and it holds up well. The outer portions are dirt. I do wish that more of the park was turf, but overall I still like it for the size of the park. The park doesn't get actually cleaned by anyone for what seems like a month or 2 at a time, but the park stays relatively clean. There's a doggy water fountain at the front which is nice and there are pooper scoopers and a shovel for cleaning up after your pup. Unfortunately either people don't realize this or don't seem to care and there are times when there is poop EVERYWHERE. Overall, I do really like this park as there is just enough space to play and not feel crowded. I do wish owners would pick up after their dog, but what can you do. Miyuki Dog Park - Miyuki park with lots of shade today! - Parks Near Me - San Jose, California

TL;DR Most dogs and owners are nice, but there is one large dog that attacked my small dog. The owner seems like she will continue to return to this park with the aggressive dog. My dog was attacked today and I feel obligated to let future attendees know, since the owner seems like she will be bringing her dog back to this park again. To give some background on my dog, he is around 10-15lbs and is extremely friendly but he knows to give a dog space if it is being aggressive. Before this he was getting along with all of the other dogs, big and small. When I first got to the park (around 1pm on Sunday) everything was great, all of the owners were watching their dogs and all of the dogs were getting along well (there wasn't even any rough play.) It wasn't until a little later (around 2-3pm), that these three middle aged women came into the park with one big dog and two stocky medium sized dogs came in. When they first came in I didn't think too much about it, I was more focused on one of their medium sized dogs because he looked like an interesting mix. While I was talking to my friend about that dog the topic changed to all of the dogs' breeds, and another owner joined in the conversation. Unfortunately, during those few seconds I looked away, I started hearing crying and screaming from my dog. He was being attacked by the larger dog. The large dog first went for his throat but my dog was able to get away from him. But the larger dog went after him again and grabbed him by the hind leg and started shaking. At that point I was in fight or flight mode and I grabbed the big dog by the collar, and my dog was able to escape. Fortunately, my dog did not receive any major injures but he did have scratches from the bite that broke skin. Luckily, everyone at the park tried to help so we were able to prevent anything disastrous from happening THIS TIME. The thing that concerned me was that, although the owner was very apologetic, she seemed to brush off this behavior and will bring her aggressive dog again. After the attack she told me her dog has only been doing this "lately" where he will get aggressive with any dog that comes near his ball. I suggested that maybe she shouldn't bring that ball to the dog park, but she said that her dog would then become "grumpy" with all of the other dogs. She also claimed that she would be moving to Washington, so I wouldn't have to worry about it. I ended up leaving the dog park and going to the other park nearby to look at my dog more closely. After I noticed the injuries, I went back to the park to confirm that the aggressive dog had all of it's shots and I suggested to the owner to not bring that dog to the park anymore. She then told me that "this was the only time this happened", even though she just told me earlier that the dog was known to be aggressively possessive. On top of that, she had brought the aggressive dog back into the park. I believe she took my words as a personal attack, because she then claimed that she "takes care of all of her dogs." I told her, and I do believe, that I do not think she was a bad dog owner. However some dog parents need to accept that their dogs just do not like other dogs. This isn't a matter of training ability or care level, this is a matter of general safety of your dog and other dogs. She claims this was a one time accident, but I do not want to have another dog injured (or worse) based on an assumption. I have also owned an aggressive dog before, and I had tried everything to try to socialize him with other dogs but at every dog park he would lunge. After two tries, I accepted that this was not enjoyable for him or for other dogs so I did not bring him again. I hope that owner (and other owners) reads this message and does the same. Even if this was a recent habit, aggression from a dog (especially larger dogs) is a serious problem that can result in serious consequences for the owner and the dog; and you should either tire your dog with a walk beforehand and/or take it to a professional dog trainer so this behavior does not happen again. One attack should be more than enough for you to not bring your dog to a dog park, and you should not wait for something worse to happen before you stop. read more

This dog park was much, much better than another park we went to where every time we went there was at least one dogfight. My dog Mango was surrounded by dogs and my dad had to yell "LITTLE HELP, GUYS?" Because Mango was literally screaming. My other dog Fig tried to protect her but he couldn't get close enough. We went to Miyuki where that problem never happens. People there welcome outsiders, and they pay attention to their dogs. We've met some very kind people and dogs at miyuki dog park. read more

Location, location, location. How can you go wrong with a dog park that is less than 5 minutes from your house? While Miyuki it may not be the newest dog park in San Jose, it's a clean, fenced in area where my dog can socialize and run free with other well-minded canines. I think that too may reviewers forget (or have a skewed sense of entitlement!) that a majority of cities in the US don't provide fenced in areas exclusively for pets run and play in. While I would probably not recommend that someone drop down and roll around on the ground here, what do you expect: IT'S A DOG PARK!! I'm just glad that in this time economic hardship for so many city governments, San Jose hasn't forgot about the needs of our four legged friends. On a side note, I would not recommend this park for smaller dogs since the majority of dogs I see here are 50lbs+. Miyuki has positives and negatives: +great parking +easy to get to +turf +shaded and sunny areas +clean and there is water -if you don't make a playmate you'll be alone -no separate sides for large and small dogs - i admit that my dog is a pain at times but if you are going to freak out every time he gets near your tiny dog it's going to make me and my dog even more of a pain...it's the whole point of socializing! -freeway noise and exhaust -relatively small -dog owners seem a little uptight All-in-all it's not my favorite park, but if it's close to you and it's the difference between your dog getting out or not I'd say go read more

This is the closest dog park to our house. It's literally, just across the street, walking distance. It has the synthetic grass I love so much, plenty of seating, plenty of shade, and plenty of parking. However, they do not separate big dogs from small dogs. And honestly, it only takes one accident for my baby to no longer be my baby. So I will not risk it by taking him here. Sigh.... I do recommend it for larger dogs though, as it is a very clean park. read more

Because I have a high-energy Vizsla, I'm constantly looking for new places to exercise my dog. Miyuki is near my mom's house, so I've taken my dog here 2-3 times. However, this place is tiny and ALWAYS smells like pee. I could feel the Parvo crawling up my legs, down my throat and into the bloodstream. The artificial grass is pretty cool, but its a very small patch with dog poop usually smeared on it. Parking is abundant and the location easy to find. I think that's the only pros for this dog park. I admit, I'm spoiled by Morgan Hill's dog park. As for returning, never again. read more

This is a great neighborhood dog park. It is much much smaller than Butcher Park, and I've mostly seen large dogs there, but the people are very friendly and most are paying attention to their pups. I've seen a few dog fights (or escalations) but the owners immediately intervened. read more

Having been renovated, its a clean place for your dog to play at. Word of caution though, at peak hours, there are alot of big dogs there, so be prepared to get dirty. This place has all the essentials for a dog park, although, they run outta doggie bags quite often. Funny story, there were these two german shepards gettin it on in front of everybody, and normally, it would be polite to stop them, but the owner of the humping dog actually encouraged his dog to keep going. I dunno what that was all about, but it was kinda disturbing the way he pet his dog while it was in the act. So watch out for the old sweaty guy sitting on the cement bench. read more

This park is super close to my house so I love going but it's not the nicest in sj. My dog doesn't seem to mind though! There's usually a good amount of dogs after 5 but I like to go when it's empty to practice a little training :) There isn't a separate area for small and large dogs but it has always seemed fine to me! The biggest problem is when owners walk in holding their small dog in their arms! They are instantly surrounded by all the large dogs! Lots of Parking. Close to home. Actually, No more bags provided~~ City of San Jose ceased baggies due to budget cuts (was costing 60,000$ a year) Water dog fountain (doesn't matter to me, always carry a food/water bowl in my back-pack). No separate areas for small dogs. Lots of shade and places to sit. Tons of toys. Fairly clean. Some land-mines left behind but nothing to cry about. Clean up after yourself and others... it's not that hard! I have an approx 60lbs female hound mix named Sasha. I also brought a 10 month old female foster beagle. When I arrived at Miyuki it was empty. About 10 minutes of free roaming someone arrived with a small dog. I had to leash Sasha since she's kind of a nut. Beagle and small dog did fine. About 10 minutes later 3 other big dogs showed up, 2 Husky, 1 big brindle dog. Brindle dog was a little aloof. 2 Huskies were very playful. After about 15 minutes I let Sasha off leash. Everyone played fine, No fights. I would have to say all the other dog owners were very pleasant! I had a wonderful time watching all the pups play. 4 stars due to being on the smaller size. Traffic noise? eh, dogs didn't seem to notice. Not fun for kids since there's nothing with a monitor. :P If you don't like the smell of pee, why have an animal? geez read more

I am what you would call a regular at this dog park. Most people come around 5-7pm, however its not so many dogs where it can be overwhelming. Parking is not too bad, there are doggy bags, and scoopers. The water system could be a bit better, you have to push the button for water in the bowl.. i just bring a bungee cord to hold it in place for the time i'm there. I just hate when parents bring their kids there and they are running around being all hyper... ugh, its a dog park people.. not a kid park. read more

This park tore up my dogs pads!! There is no real grass, it is all DG and turf so after playing fetch, all 4 of her paws had a raw spot or a cut from the park's terrain. It's fine for just getting your dog outside if you live in an apartment, but don't go here for fetch or lots of running. Also, this park is TINY, so it already isn't ideal for big dogs. We usually go to Hellyer dog park but don't have a parking pass and didn't want to walk so we tried out this park. Also, the water fountain barely works and water just trickles out and there is no water bowl, anywhere. There is a water hose chained to the fence that isn't even hooked up to a faucet. Really, what the hell is that about? The only upside is you can literally park right next to it and walk in the gate. The free parking for Hellyer is about 1/3 mile from the park or you can pay $6 daily, or $90 for a year parking pass. But quality-wise, I wouldn't come back to this one and would instead go to Hellyer. read more

I would imagine this dog park at one time was very nice. It is now very run down. A hole hole in the fencing with plastic chairs stacked in front of it. Water facility is dirty and run down. The garbage container's lid is broken in pieces and full of poop. We came here the other day and it was fairly clean. The very next day, it smelled so bad, I couldn't stay. Lots of dog poop that users just left without cleaning up after their pets. Why? I picked up some of it, but there was too much to get it all. It's dog owners like that that ruin it for others. I wish the city could at least replace the plastic garbage can and repair the hole in the fence. read more

People say this park is "dirty" but it's not, it just has alot of actual DIRT. haha. I've been going regularly for a few weeks now and have had very sporadic experiences with other dogs. Sometimes we go and there are 0 dogs there and other time there are 10 dogs there. All the owners have been very friendly and no dogs have ever been mean or aggressive. The pollen falls from the trees a little heavily. The dirt makes quite a bit of dust but it's large, lots of room to run, lots of parking (with no busy street nearby), lots of seating for adults in the shade, and ultimately- it's less than 2 minutes from my house. If you live nearby come check this place out around 5 o clock on a weekday- usually when most other dogs are there. Don't forget a towel to dust off your doggy. read more

Update: mid Feb. 2008 - I brought my two dogs there, even though it's not my favorite dog park. I have to say, this park has gone waaay downhill since my first review. The gate and the doggy bag holder were broken. The grounds looked unclean, like it hadn't seen maintainence in a long while. It gave off a bad vibe, so once we walked around a bit (on their leashes), I decided to leave. I didn't feel safe letting them explore on their own. It seemed dirty and unsanitary or something. I ended up walking them(on leashes) at the people park next door. I am so sad to see this park fall by the wayside. I wish more people cared about it like they do at Butcher Dog Park. ------------------------ As Tammy T. said, this park has been recently renovated. It is much better than it used to be. I completely agree with her assessment of the park - features-wise and yes, there are mostly big dogs a lot of the time. We have two medium dogs and also have not entered because of large dogs. The only thing I would add is that there is a people park right next to the dog park, so if you don't feel like you can take your dog inside, you can still take your pup for a walk on the leash without having to drive somewhere else. Overall, we like it, but only tend to stay and play when there are medium or no dogs there. read more

It's a nice dog park in San Jose and a great location. It is FREE which is great! :) I recommend giving the park a try. We went on a Sunday morning around 10 am and were the only family there so try early mornings on the weekend if you want more space to play and less crowded. read more

- My husband and I use to take my dog here all the time . multiple times a week . We started taking him at 3 months. It was small, not over crowded and it seemed like everyone knew everyone .I loved it ! No one was on their phone sitting on the bench, everyone was actively watching their dog and making sure no aggression was happening . My dog made awesome friends here through out his puppyhood and early "adult" hood . Sadly I noticed a decrease in these people showing up . A new wave of people came and they were on their phones, were not watching their dogs and it was literally my husband and I watching everyones dog making sure no toy aggression happened. I noticed my dog seemed less happy and more shy, anxious . One day , when we took our pup to this park, I noticed it was packed. over 10 dogs inside this small park . we decided to keep our pup on a leash and do some laps around the park to get a feel for the vibe of the park . Well right when we walked in through the gates it was already a red flag . A german shepherd who ( we did know) from the good old days , was there and trying to enter and a huge saint bernard bully breed mix ran up and started growling at the shepherd , trying to bite it and lunge . The owner was standing right next to this dog and texting . She then finally grabbed the dog by the collar to hold it back and this dog was lunging so hard towards the other dog he slipped out of his collar . no one else seemed to notice or care . We finally went in after that dog was on the other side and did our lap(s) . a husky was growling and biting at other dogs(horrible behavior) no owner corrected it . Most dogs where trying to avoid that husky . This big dog who broke out of his collar was dominant and trying to make that clear to all other dogs , I mean it was a mess. So much lack of supervision and bad behavior in such a small space. Our dog stayed close to us and got to meet one dog who seemed scared of the other dogs in the park , this dog actually joined us in our lap(s) lol. - Anyway if the park seems crowded I'd go to another park. This park is only ok for a few dogs because of its size and lack of supervision people have on their dogs . read more

Honestly when I discovered Butcher Dog Park, I stopped going here. 85% of the ground is dirt, so dogs can get much more dirty here. It's not sectioned off between big and small dogs. Theres hardly ever anyone here and the whole point of the dog park is so my German Shepherd, Cody can play and socialize with other dogs. The only convenience it was for me is it was pretty close to my house. It's also extremely small compared to Butcher Dog Park. read more

My dog likes this place and we used to go quite often! There are times when the park has plenty of dogs but others where it is dead. It has pooper scoopers, trash cans, and a water fountain. There are lists of trees and shade. The grass isn't real it is turf. read more

I've been taking my puppy here often, there is a lot of parking so there isn't much to worry about. It seems like almost always all the dogs get a long (big and small) my puppy loves it here, there isn't poop bags(I always bring my own) but there is shovels and a pan to pick up the poop. There's a lot of donated toys left around for the dogs to play witch which is nice. And a lot of plastic chair and benches for you to sit on while you watch the dogs play around. It isn't too small but it isn't massive either. The water fountain for the dogs is totally fine. And the noise from the freeway seems pretty irrelevant. The turf seems kind of worn down but who cares right? As long as the dogs have a good time! Also it never smelt like pee when I've been there but again it's a dog park so what do you expect? read more

All the review were right on the spot. I went there today around 3pm on Saturday. It was very nicely setup. The grass is artificial which makes the grass always green and easy to maintain. A word of advice, don't pull the grass out becuase it's wet (fake grass doesn't get watered). This dog park is really small, size of tennis court and its really for big dogs. No small dogs. I brought my 3 chihuahuas and they were really intimidated. So I walked them outside the park. I will try what one of the reviewers suggested and go during weekday in afternoon. If they allowed only small pets, this place would be perfect as it is very clean. read more

I've only been here a few times. My dog Is old, extremely antisocial, and not very nice. There are also hardly ever other dogs there when we go. This is a good park for her as she gets to be off the leash without really having to socialize. This is somewhere you take your dog for YOU to play with them. I love this park but It's not the place to take your dog to get socialized. Good for apartment dogs read more

This one of the first dog park we discovered for our dog jack. Seems out of the way and very lonely. Every time I have been here this is maybe like 3 or 4 other dogs. I did not care for the closeness of the freeway. My little dog does not like all that noise. There are better, but for its sake its clean and well maintained. read more

Weeeeeeee dog parks are always great! My guy, Pei Wei loved it! It's a bit small and loud from freeway noise, but who cares because my pup ran around and enjoyed himself. Nice little spot tucked away, rarely busy. read more

This is a great dog park but I didn't give it 5 stars because it's not well kept, there are leaves everywhere and a big branch that's been there for weeks. It also has had a full trash and the water fountain you have to ghetto rig with a hose so your dog can drink the water, at which the water barely comes out. Other than that we have met a lot of nice people and dogs here. Our dog loves it here! read more
